SQLDeveloper can't generate an explain-plan when using "cube"

If I want to create an explain-plan from the following statement, I get no explain-plan:
SELECT 1
FROM   dual
GROUP BY CUBE( 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 )If I now want to create an explain-plan again, I get the following message (and still no explain-plan):
http://i.imgur.com/mGO6Z.jpg
I tried this a few times and of course with a fresh db-session where i didn't run any statements before.
I get this with:
SQLDeveloper Version 3.0.04 Build MAIN-04.34 (i.e. production)
DB 9.2.0.1.0
Oracle Instant Client 11.1.0.6.0
In Toad this works btw.
(Of course it makes no sense to run it on this statement, we encountered this problem with a really big SQL-statement where "cube" was used in an inline-view. SQLDeveloper then wasn't able to generate an explain-plan for the whole-statement)

Markus

that is correct.  I wanted to keep the login page redirect inside my class method so that I could do the check every time someone came to pages that require authentication. I wanted it in the LoadState method so I can do a check there, redirect
them to login page or just get a cookie and then pass that cookie to page to build the UI for the page
I can do what you are suggesting and have actually tried it but then I have to track which page to take the user to after they log in...
I have multiple clicks in the appbar  and pages from where the user can come to these authentication-bound pages..
Suggestions?
Also, what am I doing wrong in my class method that it doesn't navigate to the login page in the LoadState method?
Thanks

Please read the forum FAQ on providing information for a tuning request, it describes how to generate an explain plan that can be shared.

Well if there is a EFI block, then running a program in OS X isn't going to do a lick of good.
After all EFI was designed for Trusted Computing and Digital Rights Management, to act between the OS and hardware, can read drives, contact the Internet and everything.
Windows doesn't use EFI, will have UEFI in Windows 8 though.

Can I get audio through iPhone when using apple tv?

What do you mean exactly? Are you wanting to output the audio to your iPhone while say watching a video on your Apple TV?  If so, I'm afraid it's not possible.  However, you should post this in the Apple TV forums for a better confirmation on then.  There are some prettty knowledgable people who hang out there.

  • Strange explain plan when query SYS tables

    Oracle Version 9.2.0.7
We have an application that runs the following query on Oracle 9.2.0.7
    SELECT T1.TABLE_NAME,T1.COLUMN_NAME, T1.SRID, T2.SDO_UB, T2.SDO_LB, T1.OWNER FROM ALL_SDO_GEOM_METADATA T1, TABLE(T1.DIMINFO) T2 WHERE T1.OWNER=UPPER(:"SYS_B_0") AND T1.TABLE_NAME=UPPER(:"SYS_B_1")
Without the self join the query is fine, but with the self join on our customers database the explain plan is doing full table scans and Hash Joins on SYS tables and takes 2 minutes.

Statistics have been gathered for the MDSYS user.
If this had not been SYS schema I would have immediately concluded that fresh statistics are required. The SYS objects concerend are valid with all indexes
From my understanding you are not meant to gather stats for the SYS schema in Oracle 9 as Data Dictionary queries still uses RBO?
Any ideas as to why Oracle is doing full table scans when querying SYS tables? The optimizer_mode is set to FIRST_ROWS.
    Any ideas greatly recevied.
    Thanks

  • Explain Plan changed using "IN"

    Hi ,
I am using one of the query as below

i have index on x for temp table.
i need to check b.y in subquery as parameter and that subquery result i have to use as first main query's where criteria.
using function i can get only one record at time.

  • Bad execution plans when using parameters, subquery and partition by

We have an issue with the following...
    We have this table:
    CREATE TABLE dbo.Test (
    Dt date NOT NULL,
    Nm int NOT NULL,
CONSTRAINT PK_Test PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED (Dt)
This table can have data but it will not matter for this topic.
Consider this query (thanks Tom Phillips for simplifying my question):
    declare @date as date = '2013-01-01'
    select *
    from (
    select Dt,
row_number() over (partition by Dt order by Nm desc) a
    from Test
    where Dt = @date
    ) x
    go
This query generates an execution plan with a clustered seek.
Our queries however needs the parameter outside of the sub-query:
    declare @date as date = '2013-01-01'
    select *
    from (
    select Dt,
row_number() over (partition by Dt order by Nm desc) a
    from Test
    ) x
    where Dt = @date
    go
The query plan now does a scan followed by a filter on the date.
    This is extremely inefficient.
This query plan is the same if you change the subquery into a CTE or a view (which is what we use).
We have this kind of setup all over the place and the only way to generate a good plan is if we use dynamic sql to select data from our views.
Is there any kind of solution for this?
We have tested this (with the same result) on SQL 2008R2, 2012 SP1, 2014 CU1.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Tom,
Parameter sniffing is a different problem. A query plan is made based on the value which may be really off in the data distribution. We do have this problem as well e.g. when searching for today's data when the statistics think the table only has yesterday's
data (a problem we have a lot involves the lack of sufficient amount of buckets in statistics objects).
    This problem is different.
    - It doesn't matter what the parameter value is.
    - You can reproduce this example with a fresh table. I.e. without statistics.
    - No matter what the distribution of data (or even if the statistics are correct), there is absolutely no case possible (in my example) where doing a scan followed by a filter should have better results than doing a seek.
    - You can't change the behavior with hints like "option(recompile)" or "optimize for".
This problem has to do with the specific combination of "partition by" and the filter being done outside of the immediate query. Try it out, play with the code, e.g. move the where clause inside the subquery. You'll see what I mean.
    Thanks for responding.

  • Buyer Beware!! No data plan when using Droid X as a hotspot!!

I purchased the Droid X right when it came out and got the "unlimited" data and hotspot options.  I just received my first bill and it has $250 worth of data charges on it.  I called customer support and learned that hotspot data is not in the unlimited plan.  In fact, they do not offer a data plan for using the phone as a wifi hotspot  - it's pay as you go.
This was the whole reason I bought this phone - to get the hotspot.  I even turned in a wifi card I had with Sprint.  Even the customer support supervisor admitted it does not make any sense.  What a disaster..... #fail

Yes, I am beginning to understand this now, they would not want someone selling mobile hotspot space.  Can someone give me some idea of what 2 gigs of data represents, I am having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around this.  This is going to be a pure convenience thing for me.  Example i'm on the road with my laptop and need to mod an excel, word or access doc on the fly and send it off...am I good to do this several times or do I wait till i'm home or in the hotel?
Very interesting conversation all, I appreciate the input
short but sweet....do not play wow thru your phone while driving
    CaboWaboMan> nice name btw.
It's hard to fully judge how much data is used.  just surfing and sending emails would ammount to thousands of pages and text only emails before you hit 2 gigs.  But, once you start adding in attachments you will have to figure in the size of those attachements.  If you send 10 x 200MB files in a month, you've hit your limit on the attachments alone.
I stream pandora 5 days a week for hours upon hours a day and I use about 2.5 gigs of data per month, plus web surfing.  If i download a bunch of files on my phone that number will bounce up tremendously.
So...likely the excel files ammount to a matter of Kbs so it shouldnt be a problem to stay WELL within that 2gb limit.  I personally don't think it is worth the extra 20 bucks a month for 2 extra gigs.  I would transfer my excel sheet to my phone via USB and then send it direct from the droid to my recipient.

  • Problem to create Explain Plan and use XML Indexes. Plz follow scenario..

    whereas this works:
    Explain Plan for
    SELECT xmltype.getclobval (XML_MESSAGE)
FROM TNAME1 t- Please tell me, what is the reason behind it and how can I overcome it. It's causing all my views based on this condition to fail in another schema i.e. not picking up the XMLIndexes.
    Also
SELECT * from DBA_XML_TAB_COLS WHERE TABLE_NAME like 'TNAME1';Output is like:
    OWNER, || TABLE_NAME, || COLUMN_NAME, || XMLSCHEMA || SCHEMA_OWNER, || ELEMENT_NAME, || STORAGE_TYPE, || ANYSCHEMA, || NONSCHEMA

    SCHEMA1 || TNAME1 ||     SYS_NC00025$ ||          ||          || CLOB     ||     ||
    - Can I change AnySchema to YES from NO for -column_name = XML_MESSAGE ? May be that will solve my problem.
    - SYS_NC00025$ is the XML Index, Why don't I get any values for ANYSCHEMA, NONSCHEMA on it. Is this what is causing the problem.
    Kindly suggest.. Thanks..

The problem sounds familiar. Please create a SR on http://support.oracle.com for this one.

  • How can i indclude my own package when using 'javadoc'

    hello,
i create my own package, say myPackage.
can i include it when using javadoc
    thanks

In case you didn't get it from that last answer: You are not supposed to explicitly specify the java files, just the packages (the directories).
Cut-and-paste from the earlier supplied information:
Case 3 - Run from any directory on explicit packages in a single directory tree - In this case, it doesn't matter what the current directory is. Run javadoc supplying -sourcepath with the parent directory of the top-level package, and supplying names of one or more packages you want to document:
    C:> javadoc -d C:\home\html -sourcepath C:\home\src java.awt java.awt.event
If you need to document more than one package, add a ";" and the package after the "C:\home\src" or whatever your package is called.
    -d directory
Specifies the destination directory where javadoc saves the generated HTML files.
    -sourcepath sourcepathlist
Specifies the search paths for finding source files (.java)
    best of luck
    -negal
