Export and Import Application
Greetings,
I have created a Portal30 application that includes several forms, reports, and charts. Now I want to duplicate for another schema in the same database. I export the application in Navigator under applications.
Then I use Sqlplus 8.1.7. to import. There doesn't seem to be any documentation for the import step, so I have questions for anyone that has successfully done this:
1. Who do I logon as for the import? Portal30 or the new application owner.
2. I get prompted for login user name and password. Is this Portal30, Portal30_SSO, the user I logged on as to do the import, the new application owner, or the old application owner?
3. I have taken several guesses and run the CHECK mode, which returns the following message:
...Checking component: ID = 1143586401 Name = LOC_RPT Owner = NEW_APP Type = REPORT
*** WARNING ***
ID 1143586401 already exists: owner = OLD_APP, name = LOC_RPT, type = REPORT
==> Import will fail
4. CHECK is correct, when I try to run in CREATE mode I get:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-06510: PL/SQL: unhandled user-defined exception
ORA-06512: at "PORTAL30.WWPRO_API_PROVIDER_REGISTRY", line 255
ORA-00001: unique constraint (PORTAL30.WWPRO_PROVIDERS_UK1) violated
Thus, the import isn't clever enough to assign a new component id.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
Trenton
Dear Balaji!
Is there a way to export forms and reports with PL/SQL? The manually export is very slow with 100 forms to copy (to another location, another database).
Thanx,
Gyorgy

Trenton,
You cannot export/import an application in th e same portal instance. As Import does not create a new component Id, it will give you error if you try to import a component in the same portal instance.
If you want to duplicate the application, I suggest you to create another application based on different schema and copy the components (one at a time) into this application.
For copying click on the Manage tab of the component and click on the copy link. Specify the target application and component name.
In general while importing an application/component you need to specify the following parameters:
1 : import mode CHECK or CREATE
2 : portal schema (Portal Instance Name)
3 : login user name
4 : login user password
(Portal User name and password who has sufficient privilege to import the application);
5 : application schema (Name of the schema on which the application will be created)
6 : application name (New name of the application/component)
7 : log file
Hope this helps

Exporting and importing applications/workspaces
I am currently on a testing workspace and want to put the application/workspace to another workspace. I know the export and import commands but my concern is the application import. The application is linked to a sample table caled "Samp" and now I would need to link it to a table called "test". This table is almost eactly the same as "Samp" witht he exeption of 2 or 3 new columns. I am wondering what I need to do to change the link to the new table and whether the application will still work.
Thanks"419008",
In cases like this, where I know the table name is going to be different across HTML DB instances, what I usually do is create a view on top of the table, and then build my HTML DB applications against the view. Then, assuming the definition of the tables are the same, it should work without further modification.
So in your testing workspace you could have:
create view foo as select * from Samp
and in your other workspace you could have:
create view foo as select * from test

Export and import the windows phone contacts as .vcf file to the application
Hi, I need to export the windows phone contacts as .vcf file and import it to my windows phone application. I'm unable to import the full details of a contact. Is there any sample code to export and import phone contacts programmatically. Please
help if there is any solution. Thanks.
NikithaFound this on the internet:
http://www.lumisoft.ee/lswww/download/downloads/Net/
If you download the Lumisoft.Net.Zip and extract it looks like there is a vCard folder with some classes that may help you.
You will need to use something like that or search a bit more and find a vCard C# Helper library.

Export and Import of Application problem
Hi,
I had my application developed in Windows environment. First time i had full application export and import on Solaris box. The application was successfully installed on Solaris box and i could login into application. The login process was working but all of my queries/reports were not displaying any values. All i can see is number of rows retrieved for example 1-20 etc. I repeated the export/import 3-4 times but results were same.
On Solaris box i opened one of the reports and started playing with it. Luckily on "Reports Attribute" tab i unchecked/checked the show column checkbox. The report started working. Likewise i did for other reports. Just to verify this i repeated the Export/import of application and unchecked/checked the show column and reports started working. I repeated it at least 3 times.
Our application is going to expand everyday and on every import we cannot repeat this step for every report.
Please let me know what steps are missing in Import or are they any manual Post-Import steps ?
Regards
HamayunHi Scott,
Today i applied the patch and now its 1.6.1.02. After applying the patch i imported application once again.
I was able to login into application. When i executed a report the system navigated to required tab but did not show any data. Then i performed following steps:
1.Selected Edit page(xx).
2.Selected region in the selected page.
3.Select Report Attributes tab from region.
4.In Report Column Attributes section the "Show" option was Checked for all the columns which i want to display.
5. i unchecked only ONE COLUMN and CHECKED again the same column. This was done just to apply changes to report.
6. Clicked on Apply Changes to save the changes.
7. Executed the application and the report started working.
8. Likewise i repeated step 5 for all reports in the application.
I also tried another option.
-navigated to Reports Attribute tab and made a change just to save the changes on tab. After saving the page the report started working.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

2007/09/19hi,frank
thank you.
You know a page include a .jspx file,a page definition file and depend faces-config.xml,faces-config.oxd_faces and other I don't know information,so if i only put the first two file into cvs,but how can i get other information in the last two file?When I get the first two file and needed information in the other file,how can i merge these into new project and let jdeveloper "reconize it"?Applicaion is more complex,it not only depend its self java class,xml and many entity object and view object,how to handle the "export" and "import" process?Just like oracle form,only a fmb is enough,database object only need to "put into database","export" and "import" are very simple,so i need jdeveloper to supply these "import" and "export" function.I'm not familar with cvs,does it can know object dependency like application module?if it can,how to let jdev "reconize" imported in object?

Require help in understanding exporting and importing statistics.
Hi all,
I am bit new to this statistics.
Can anyone please explain me in detail about these commands.
1) exec DBMS_STATS.GATHER_TABLE_STATS (ownname => 'MRP' , tabname => 'MRP_ATP_DETAILS_TEMP', estimate_percent => 100 ,cascade => TRUE);
2) exec DBMS_STATS.CREATE_STAT_TABLE ( ownname => 'MRP', stattab => 'MRP_ATP_3');
3) exec DBMS_STATS.EXPORT_TABLE_STATS ( ownname => 'MRP', stattab => 'MRP_ATP_3', tabname => 'MRP_ATP_DETAILS_TEMP',statid => 'MRP27jan14');
4) exec DBMS_STATS.IMPORT_TABLE_STATS ( ownname => 'MRP', stattab => 'MRP_ATP_3', tabname => 'MRP_ATP_DETAILS_TEMP');
I understand that these commands are used to export and import table statistics.
But please anyone help me in understanding this indetail.
Thanks in advance.

Language Problem while exporting and importing data
hi,
I have Oracle version 8.1.7.0.0 installed on one server and 9.2.0.1.0 installed on new server.
I'm copying and pasting my version info from SQL*Plus:

I created new user on my new server from enterprise manager.
Exported user from the old server and imported in the new server.
i.e: from Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0, I did
c:\>exp system/manager file=abc.dmp owner=abc
Then on the new server Release 9.2.0.1.0, I did
c:\>imp system/manager file=abc.dmp fromuser=abc touser=abc
I'm using Arabic Language on my both servers. NLS_LANG parameter on both the servers is AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252.
On both the servers I'm able to insert and select data in arabic.
However, after I export the data from old server to the new server, the arabic data comes in question marks.
If I create new table and insert arabic data on new server's user abc it is displaying well. Only the data which I exported and imported is not showing arabic.
On both old and new servers operating system is Windows XP.
I'm stuck with this problem. Anybody having any idea about how to solve this problem please help.
Thank you all in advance.
RegardsLet me be clear here. Storing Arabic data in a WE8MSWIN1252 database is not supported by Oracle and will lead to problems. You are incorrectly using the NLS_LANG to prevent proper conversion and your data appears to be okay when you use utilties like SQL*PLUS to view your data. When you write applications that don't rely on the NLS_LANG like JDBC thin driver for instance you will realize your data is in fact invalid. To learn more about the NLS_LANG you can take a look at this FAQ: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/globalization/htdocs/nls_lang%20faq.htm
To migrate your database to a proper character set you can refer to this paper:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/globalization/pdf/mwp.pdf
But please do not ask for help in supporting your current configuration in this forum. -
Exporting and Importing Destination Controls Error
When I export table within destination control and import the table to another Ironport again within destination control I receive error - "Wrong format of the destination config file: ip_sort_pref is required for the global settings."
We are updating the ASYNC on each of our de clustered Ironport. So when one is not in use we need the other to handle all the traffic, including domain controls.
The output displays
[ABCDE.com]
max_host_concurrency = 500
limit_apply = system
limit_type = host
max_messages_per_connection = 50 ......
How can I import this without losing or altering the data within.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Solution
We upgrade one of our SMTP ASYNC to 8.0.1 which creates a additional line within default of the upgraded Ironport exported control destination table that is named... wait for it.... ip_sort_pref. Just add it.The applications and drivers have been imported into the Dev SCCM server however I cannot find the actual content so I am not sure this has worked properly.
When you exported did you choose to "Export all content for selected task sequence and dependencies".

Error when exporting and importing TS
Hi I am running SCCM 2012 SP1 and am trying to export a Task Sequence including with the Windows 7 wim, the boot wim, some applications and drivers. When I exported the TS I selected to export dependencies and content.
I have setup dev SCCM environment (same spec as production) and am trying to import the .zip that was created when I completed the export. When doing the import I am getting the below error on both the Windows 7 wim and the boot wim :

StatusCode = 2147749889;
The applications and drivers have been imported into the Dev SCCM server however I cannot find the actual content so I am not sure this has worked properly. I am wondering if I would be better off using the Migration wizard to take the TS and
content across. Would appreciate any advice on either a) how to fix the issues with the importing of the TS or b) whether I should just be using the migration wizard.
Thanks

Calling Oracle Export and Import in java
Hi,
I am trying to call oracle export and import utilites in my java application,
can anyone help me that how can i do this, plz consider the case as this is a part of my project..
Regards
AshishYou should just be able to call the "imp" and "exp" executables ($ORACLE_HOME/bin) using the Runtime class. You can setup the various parameters for export / import in a parameter file.

Either create tablespace in target database or

Subject: How to perform FULL System Export/Imports
Type: BULLETIN
Status: PUBLISHED
Content Type: TEXT/X-HTML
Creation Date: 18-APR-1994
Last Revision Date: 30-AUG-2002
Purpose
This article highlights some important points to consider when performing
a Full System Export and Import.
Scope and Application
It is intended to assist users performing FULL System Exports and Imports.
A Full System Export and Import is a useful way to replicate or clean up
a database. Please note the following guidelines when performing a Full
System Export and Import:
1. When performing the import, ensure you are pointing at the correct
instance. Always check values for the SID and two task driver before
proceeding.
*Note: On Unix systems, just entering a sub-shell, such as using
C-shell, can change the database that the import would work
against.
2. When possible, it is advisable to take a physical copy of the
exported database and the database you intend to import into before
starting the import. This ensures any mistakes are reversible.
3. NEVER run a FULL SYSTEM IMPORT on a machine that has more than one
database UNLESS you are 100% sure all tablespaces have been
pre-created. A full import will create any undefined tablespaces
using the same datafile names as the exported database. There are
situations where this is very dangerous:
-> If the datafiles belong to ANY other database, they will be
CORRUPTED. This is especially true if the exported database is
on the same machine, because its datafiles will be re-used by
the database you are importing into.
-> If the datafiles have names that clash with existing operating
system files.
4. When exporting, it is advisable to also produce a report showing
information you may need before / after the import:
-> List the tablespaces and datafiles
-> List the rollback segments
-> List a count, by user, of each object type such as tables,
indexes, etc.
This enables you to ensure that tablespaces have been pre-created
and to check the success of the import after it is complete.
5. If you are creating a completely new database from an export, remember
to create an extra rollback segment in SYSTEM, and make this available
in the init.ora file before proceeding with the import.
6. There are some versions of export that do not retain sequence numbers
correctly. It is advisable to select next_value for each sequence
after the export so that these can be checked after import.
Following these guidelines will help you to avoid major problems.

Type: HOWTO
Status: PUBLISHED
Content Type: TEXT/X-HTML
Creation Date: 12-OCT-2001
Last Revision Date: 01-OCT-2003
goal: How to copy an Oracle database to another machine
fact: Oracle Server - Enterprise Edition
fix:
Pre-requisites: The copy is between 2 machines, both have to be on the same OS
and have to have exactly the same database version installed.
1. Make sure the database you want to copy was closed with a SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE,
SHUTDOWN NORMAL or SHUTDOWN TRANSACTIONAL.
2. Copy init.ora and control files to create instance and be able to go in
mount mode. Check the init.ora for the locations where the controlfiles have
to be, if those locations are not valid on the machine put the control files on
different places and adjust the init.ora accordingly.
3.a. Copy the datafiles (all of them).
b. Copy the redo-logfiles (all of them).
4.a. (Unix only) Set the environment variables:
ORACLE_SID - set to the database name you wish to create
ORACLE_HOME - set to full pathname of the Oracle system home directory
PATH - needs to include $ORACLE_HOME/bin
b. (NT/2000 only) Do 'set ORACLE_SID=<SID>'
Use oradim to create the service for the instance. For more information
on oradim please refer to (the part that refers to creating a new instance):
Note:68720.1 Creating a new 7.3, 8.0, 8.1 Instance/Database
5. Use servermanager (check the name to use for your version of oracle) or
sqlplus (version 9i and above) to startup the database in mount mode.
Do
CONNECT INTERNAL/<PASSWORD>
then
STARTUP MOUNT
Then do a rename of the copied datafiles if they are not in the same path as on
the other machine. For all the files that are in the result of the query:
SELECT NAME FROM V$DATAFILE;
do
ALTER DATABASE RENAME FILE '<oldfullpath>\<filename>' to <
newfullpath>\<filename>';
6. Query the datadictionary for the old location of the redolog files using:
SELECT MEMBER FROM V$LOGFILE;
If the new place is not the same as the old do:
ALTER DATABASE RENAME FILE '<oldfullpath>\<redologfilename>' to &
lt;newfullpath>\<redologfilename>';
7. Now open the database:
ALTER DATBASE OPEN;

KahlilHi,
I think you can use DBMS_DATAPUMP (10.1+), see [DBMS_DATAPUMP|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28419/d_datpmp.htm#i1007277], for examples see [http://www.psoug.org/reference/dbms_datapump.html]
