Export applet Image to a browser window

Hi folks,
I have an applet that creates an organization chart loaded from xml:
http://www.easypay-group.com/Flowchart/bin/test.htm
Now I want to export my Image (BufferedImage) to a browser window.
I think by doing that I don't need to sign my applet, the only problem is that I don't know how to do this.
Thanks in advance,
Pieter

You've gone down the wrong path here by using Photoshop or
any graphics app
to build your html code for you. It's fragile, dodgy and
really only
intended for quick prototypes; not full production sites. As
soon as you
start adding content to this layout, it's going to blow up on
you.
Recommendation: Use Pshop to optimize image slices. Use DW to
build the
HTML code by inserting images into a pre-made CSS layout like
this one.
CSS Liquid Layout, Centered on page.

Also, read this tutorial:
Taking a Fireworks (or PhotoShop) comp to a CSS based layout

  • ActionPerformed method not working when applet is loaded in browser window.

    Hey there guys. I need urgent help from anybody who has experience in deploying websites whose code is in java.
    I am having two problems as mentioned below...
    first, I have made a simple login screen using java swing and JApplet. there is a single button to login. the action performed for this button accesses a private method to check the username and password which are there in atext file. the applet is working perfectly in appletviewer but when i load the applet in a Internet Explorer window using HTML's Applet tag, the button is giving no response at all even when i enter the correct username and password.
    I guess it is either not calling the private function that is checking the username and password from the tes=xt file or it can not access the file. Please help as soon as possible as this is related to my college project.
    I am attaching the code herewith. Suggestions to improve the coding are also welcome.
    the second problem is that while writing my second program for generating a form which registers a user the html is not at all loading the applet into the browser and also if im trying to access a file to write all the details into the console is showing numerous amount of error after i press the button which i can't not understand. the only thing i can understand is that it is related to file access permissions. If anybody could put some light on the working of worker threads and thread safe activities of SwingUtilities.invokeandWait method it would be really appreciable.

    Hey Andrew, first of all sorry for that shout, it was un-intentional as i am new to posting topics on forums and didn't new that this kind of writing is meant as shouting. Cool.
    Secondly thank you for taking interest in my concern.No worries.
    Thirdly, as i mentioned before, I am reading i file for checking of username and password. the file is named as "userpass.txt" and is saved in the directory named "@data" which is kept in the same directory in which my class file resides.OK - server-side. That makes some sense, and makes things easier. The problem with your current code is that the applet will be looking for that directory on the end user's local file system. Of course the file does not exist there, so the applet will fail unless the the end user is using the same machine as the server is coming from.
    To get access to a resource on the server - the place the applet lives - requires an URL. In applets, URLs are relatively easy to form. It might be something along the lines of
    URL urlToPswrd = new URL(getCodeBase(), "@data/userpass.txt");
    InputStream is = urlToPswrd.openStream();
    DataInputStream din = new DataInputStream(is);
    So the problem is that it is reading the file and showing the specific output dialog box when i run it through appletviewer.. Huhh. What version of the SDK are you using? More recent applet viewers should report security exceptions if the File exists.
    ..but the same is not happening when i launch the applet in my browser window using the code as written belowHave you discovered how to open the Java Console in the browser yet? It is important.
    Also the answer to your second question
    Also, the entire approach to storing/restoring the password is potentially wrong. For instance, where is it supposed to be stored, on the server, or on the client?is that, as of now it is just my college project so all the data files and the username and password wiles will be stored on my laptop only i.e. on the client only. no server involved.OK, but understand that an applet ultimately does not make much sense unless deployed through a server. And the entire server/client distinction becomes very important, since that code would be searching for a non-existent file on the computer of the end user.

  • Can applet close the Web browser window it embedded in?

    I know that a link or button in the Web browser can close the browser window. But I really don't if the applet can also do it.

  • Opening browser windows from applet

    I have 2 questions
    1) Does anyone know, what do I have to do to force my java applet to open new browser window with specified url ?
    2) Is any java class, which renders HTML files ? I'm trying to open some document in frame inside applet and I don't know if i have to write this renderer by myself.

    for your second question, I dont know if there is a specific HTML class but SAXParser makes reading xml very easy and you probably should have much trouble writing a class to read html.

  • Image gallery: Open browser w/ 'Next/Back' button?

    Howdy people. I am planning on making a photo gallery. I want
    to have the user click on the first image - have a browser window
    open then have a 'NEXT' 'BACK' and "CLOSE WINDOW" button in that
    browser window. I know how to do all except the arrow part. Can
    anyone help? Thank you so much!

    Create your second page so it's layed out the same way as the
    first. The
    next link simply points from one page to another as per
    normal hyperlink.
    You'll need to change the next link (and previous link) on
    each page
    manually.
    So, page2.htm will have a previous link to page1.htm and a
    next link to
    page3.htm, and
    page3.htm will have a previous link to page2.htm and a next
    link to
    page4.htm.
    Or are you looking for more automated way using a server-side
    language?

  • Dreamweaver cs3 new browser window

    I have a link on my page which will display image in new browser window and window size is fixed but problem is it will display white background but i want it will display black blackground. i have more than 20 link of such type which will display image in new browser window of fixed size.
    Rajeev.

    Hi Rajeev,
    Based on what Paula (PZ) has written I was experimenting with things at my end also.
    @Paula: I took a different approach ...actually did this approach for the first time. Your solution of using document.write is perfect but I thought to share a way which I tried also...you may find it interesting
    Here it is:
    I created a link in the parent page <a href="javascript:;" onclick="openwin('property_files/banner.gif');">Link</a> and defined the openwin() funtion as following:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function openwin(imgpath){
        window.open('imagewin.html',imgpath,'status=yes,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,width=800,he ight=600');
    </script>
    In the above i am passing the image path from the link's click and using it as window name (second argument in the window.open)
    Now I created this blank imagewin.html which has following code:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <style type="text/css">
    -->
    </style>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function showImg(){
    var imgval=window.name;
    document.write('<img src='+imgval+'>');
    document.bgColor='black';
    </script>
    </head>
    <body onload="showImg();">
    </body>
    </html>
    So on this blank page I am calling a showImg() function and then I have captured the window name into a variable and then used document.write to create the image tag with the captured path and finally set bgColor as black.
    So using this one can simply pass the imagepath from each link and it would display new image each time!
    Worked well for me!!!
    Hows that?
    More than anytihng I just loved the fact that there is so much try and experiment with....I just love all this
    Regards
    Vinay

  • Opening New Browser window for click event on an image

    hi all,
    I want someone to help me out solving the problem of opening
    a new browser window on the mouse click event of an image or a
    button etc.... The new window would contain the datagrid details
    from the main window, but in an expanded form. If at all there is a
    solution, I even want to know whether there is anyway for sizing
    the poped up window,because I dont want the new poped up window to
    cover the entire screen.
    For getting better idea of my problem, the best example I
    could give is the popup window that appears when we click on the
    preview button while posting the message to the forum.
    Someone please do help me out in this regard.
    Thanks,
    amar.

    I'd definitely try to use a Flex popup... but the
    flash.net.navigateToURL method is a simple way to open a popup
    window in a new browser. You can pass any data needed by the new
    page using the URLRequest and/or URLVariables. The URL you navigate
    to could, of course, be another Flex application if necessary. I
    use this only when I need to open a popup window on another site,
    or an HTML formatter report or something similar.
    Concerning yourself with the size of the popup window may be
    a bad design choice also. I, for example, have my browser
    configured to open all popups in a new tab regardless of sizing
    constraints imposed by the designer. If it is absolutely necessary
    for you to have control over the size of your popup window, you
    should follow the advice given by others and use a Flex
    popup.

    When I use yahoo images and open an image in a new window, the page, once I click its tab causes the entire browser to scramble graphically, making it nearly impossible to navigate further. I right-clicked and selected close tab. That regains the visual clarity of the browser. But how can I fix this to browse the images?

    Phillipp,
    I tried it again using "save link as", and this time it actually worked! I just now downloaded several more using the "save link as" option, and it works perfectly. Thanks. Problem solved.

  • How do get a dynamic image to open in new browser window

    I'm using DW CS3, mysql (MAMP)   OS 10.6.2   I'm designing my online store.  I need the customer to be able to click dynamic image/thumbnails to view a larger image in a new browser pop up window 400 x 400.  An example of this functionality can be seen at :
    http://www.designpublic.com/spot-on-square-roh-dresser
    So far I can get the separate new browser window to open with the dynamic image, using the open new browser behavior, but the on click also advances to next page with the larger image. You have to press the back button to get back to the product page.  I want the customer to be able to see the product page , while viewing larger image, and then close larger image, and still have the product page open. I don't understand why 2 windows are opening.

    Hi
    I did look at it but, (and this is only my opinion, I do not like such effects) it is your decision.
    If you view source you will see -
    <a href="#" onclick="popWin('http://www.designpublic.com/catalog/product/gallery/id/12706/image/91883/', 'gallery', 'width=300,height=300,left=50,top=50,location=no,status=yes,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes'); return false;" title="Spot on Square Roh Dresser" class="gallery-image-link"><img src="http://arcsmedia01.s3.amazonaws.com/catalog/product/cache/2/thumbnail/56x56/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/r/o/roh_dresser1.jpg" alt="" /></a>
    Which is controlled by the javascript function
    popWin()
    which you can view using the firefoxe dev toolbar - view javascript function.

  • Closing browser window from an Applet?

    I've written a series of applets that perform different functions. I placed a button on each applet with the purpose to close the window in which that applet is running. However I don't even know where to start looking to find out how to make my applet close it's own browser window. I know how to open a new browser window from an applet but not vice versa.
    Can anyone help please?
    Mark.

    Right, I sort of tracked down some code that uses getMethods to allow me to invoke a Javascript command. It is not pretty and took a little bit of editing to get to work but it does the job without putting JS stuff into my HTML.
    However it is causing some problems. If I open one of my other applets it will only let me close that window and the previous applets ceases to respond at all. I think this may be because the invoke gets the JSObject which is the window and somehow having more than one applet open in different windows is causing it to get confused and is locking the first window and only responding to the second.
    I have seen a much simpler method that uses:
    import netscape.javascript.*;
    and JSObject to get the window but my compiler complains about the import. Any further suggestions or an example would be welcome as my current solution is a bit limited as you can effectively only have one window open at a time which doesn't suit my needs.
    Many thanks.
    Mark.
