  • Can you call external exe file from Flex Air Application like notepad.exe

Im trying to make my Air Application open an External exe file anyone know if this can be done?

    Hi,
If you want to share code between a flex app and AIR, you
could isolate the common bits as a swc file and link to the swc
from both the flex and air project.
Also, you could have the flex mxml file and air mxml file
load the same module (which has the same stuff as your original
    flex application) using ModuleLoader.
Or, you could even load the swf of your flex application
using SWFLoader in your air mxml file.
Basically, check out creating flex libraries, modules and
    runtime loading of swfs.

  • Calling a created Java file from an AIR application

I've got a guy helping me out who is creating a Java file that outputs an F1 keypress to the operating system/desktop (which Flex alone can't do.
My problem is I need to know how I can call/activate this file from within an AIR application. I want my app to be ready for when he has created it for me but I've never used Flex to call an application so I would not know what classes need to be called or if any script would be required.
In the following simple code lets say if the Java file itself was called keypress.java (or whatever file extension a java file has) what code would need to be added in, including imported classes, to make the click of the button activate this java file?
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <mx:WindowedApplication xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute">
    <mx:Button id="KeypressButton" label="Button" horizontalCenter="0" verticalCenter="0" click=""/>
    </mx:WindowedApplication>

I think one solution is to use a Java proxy to call the Web services.
In the Java proxy you can have a method that accepts the user/pass and sets them correctly for the Web service.
Then you expose that Java proxy as a data control (right click, create data control) - and then create a page that invokes that method.
(For the basics of working with a POJO data control see: http://blogs.oracle.com/shay/2009/07/java_class_data_control_and_ad.html )

  • Log to file from installed air application

I have an application I've developed using flex builder,
which uses the flex logging library. When I run it from the
debugger in flex builder I get useful log information in the
flashlog.txt file. Eventually my application is turned into an air
file which is installed on the target machine. Is there any way to
get that log output when I run the air application? Some output
appears in the flashlog.txt, but not the same output as I see when
running it with the flex builder.

Has no one tried to do this before? Seems like a really
simple thing to be able to do, to help with debugging release
    issues...

  • Executing a batch file(.bat) from an AIR application

Is there a way by which we can exceute a dos batch file from an AIR 1.5 application?

I think your only option might Merapi, and that might only be for linking AIR and Java apps.

Specific use cases from developers is one way Adobe prioritizes feature development. That's why whenever you request a feature, the response will often include a request for a use case -- even if the use of the feature seems self-evident. Your use case could add more value to a potential feature beyond the self-evident.

  • Open PS (CS-CS4) and load image from flex/air application?

    Hello,
(Not sure wether to post this in the AIR forum or the FLEX forum?)
I am at a loss on how to get my simple application to work. I have a small desktop air application that simply opens Photoshop and runs an action. I used switchboard and the application ran great on PC and MAC. However it only worked for CS3, and CS4 not CS or CS2?. Plus the size of switchboard was a bit large for my small app. I am willing to live with that though . I am using Air with Flex and wanted to know if perhaps there is a beter approach? All the application does is open photoshop, loads an image, and runs an action. Can I do this for all versions of Photoshop using switchboard? Can I do this without switchboard and just use javascript. The big issue is the Air app needs to open Photoshop, and most of the examples have me open PS first and then execute a script located in the PS directory. This needs to work outside of the PS directory. Any examples are appreciated.
I have looked at the following:
    - SwitchBoard : only works for CS3-CS4 (on my tests)
    - PatchPanel: same issue, plus seperate SDKs
    - ExtendScript: requires script to be run from PS not Air

Of course you may have some unstated reason for doing this in Air, but if not...

  • Opening a finder/windows explorer window from an AIR application?

I'm evaluating AIR right now and going through as much
documentation as I can find. Is there a way to open up an OS file
browsing window? For instance, after writing a file to an arbitrary
directory, could you open that director (preferably with the file
selected) in OS X's Finder or Windows Explorer? Obviously this is
possible in a native application (Lightroom does it, among others),
but I can't figure out if it's possible with an AIR
    application.

  • Call JSFL from Flex Air application

    Hi,
I have a Flex Air application that converts old style flash
text var txt files into XML. As part of the process it creates a
jsfl file that when run will automate through older FLAs and
    upgrade them with changes required.
My question is this. Using the command
fl.runScript(locationOfJSFLscript) in flash, it will automatically
call the script and execute it. How do I do the same in Flex? i.e.
I have a button in the application. I press it and it sends the
    call to run the script.
    Thank you

  • How to launch other air application from on air application

    Hi there,
I am new to air technology, I wonder if air can allow me to
launch different air application when I am in air application. All
    my applications are desktop application.
By the way, how can I attach my EULA when installing my air
    application?
    Best,

Take a look at the help for the CreateInterface function. Notepad.exe doesn't have an ActiveX so you have to start it with a command line shell. I don't recall for the moment the function in HiQ that allows that.

  • How can I execute a java class with arguments from an air application built from mxml?

I have an mxml application. It has a button, and when that button select event occurs, I want my mxml air app to pass arguments to a java class I have built, which resides in a package path on my system. I need to be able to pass several arguments to my java method from my mxml call. How do I do this, and what config files are necessary? For the simple task I want to engineer, can you show me an example of a properly configured config file? My java class has been executed at the command line in the past as follows:
java -cp %CP% com.abc.prism.queue.EmitMessage XYZ "my message text" 192.12.13.14 5672
where %CP% is an env variable that tells my class the classpath it runs with, and XYZ, "my message text", the IP address, and the port are the arguments I must pass from mxml to my java class. How do I accomplish this?
How do I make known to the java class I call from mxml the %CP% class path? It tells my java class where to find various rabbitMQ jars.

  • How do I export a SWF from CS4 and make it viewable for clients?

I'm currently using Indesign CS4 and just learned how to export an animated file as a SWF file.  Once exported I have both a SWF file and a HTML file, however when I send either file to a client they don't open.  How to I format the file for customer viewing?
    Thank you

Thank you so much that worked.  Is there a more professional way to send a client a link instead of two files?  I can just see the confusion from it.  Thank
