Export buffer maximum size
Hi,
For the parameter buffer used in export what is the maximum size we can give as input.
BUFFER
Default: operating system-dependent. See your Oracle operating system-specific documentation to determine the default value for this parameter.
Specifies the size, in bytes, of the buffer used to fetch rows. As a result, this parameter determines the maximum number of rows in an array fetched by Export. Use the following formula to calculate the buffer size:
buffer_size = rows_in_array * maximum_row_size
If you specify zero, the Export utility fetches only one row at a time.
Tables with columns of type LOBs, LONG, BFILE, REF, ROWID, LOGICAL ROWID, or DATE are fetched one row at a time.
Note:
The BUFFER parameter applies only to conventional path Export. It has no effect on a direct path Export. For direct path Exports, use the RECORDLENGTH parameter to specify the size of the buffer that Export uses for writing to the export file.
Example: Calculating Buffer Size
This section shows an example of how to calculate buffer size.
The following table is created:
CREATE TABLE sample (name varchar(30), weight number);
The maximum size of the name column is 30, plus 2 bytes for the indicator. The maximum size of the weight column is 22 (the size of the internal representation for Oracle numbers), plus 2 bytes for the indicator.
Therefore, the maximum row size is 56 (30+2+22+2).
To perform array operations for 100 rows, a buffer size of 5600 should be specified.

ALBPM 6.0 : The maximum size for file uploads has been exceeded.
Hi,
I use AquaLogic BPM Entreprise server to deploy my Process. When I try to publish a process on my server I get the following error:
An unexpected error ocurred.
The error's technical description is:
"javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: null"
Possible causes are:
The maximum size for file uploads has been exceeded.
If you are trying to publish an exported project you should publish it using the remote project option.
If you are trying to upload the participant's photo you should choose a smaller one.
An internal error has ocurred, please contact support attaching this page's source code.
Has someone resolve it?
Thank's.Hi,
Sure you've figured this out by now, but when you get the "Maximum size for file uploads" error during publish consider:
1. if your export project file is over 10mb, use "Remote Project" (instead of "Exported Project") as the publication source. That way when you select the remote project, you will point to ".fpr" directory of the project you are trying to publish.
Most times your project is not on a network drive that the server has access to. If this is the case, upload the .exp file to the machine where the Process Administrator is running, then expand it in any directory (just unzip the file). Then, from the Process Administrator, use the option to publish a Remote Project by entering the path to the .fpr directory you just created when unzipping the project.
2. Check to see if you have cataloged any jars and marked them as non-versionable. Most of the times the project size is big just because of the external jar files. So as a best practice, when you do a project export select the option "include only-versionable jars", that will get reduce the project size considerably (usually to Kb's). Of course you have to manually copy the Jar files to your Ext folder.

Maximum Size for documents?
Is there a maximum size for a Pages document? I am trying to insert pictures into a travel journal and have got as far as 60 something pages with 44 pages having photos at various angles/shadows etc. but the program has slowed right down and now whenever I try to import another photo the program quits with various error messages. The initial text was formatted using word and I am wondering if this was the problem. The File size is 240 megabytes. My Macbook pro has 2 gig memory and I have a 250 Gig HD so space should not be an issue. Any thoughts?
No explanations available.
This morning, after reading your question I made a test.
I built a Pages document with 99 huge pictures (from 60 Kbytes to 28.6 Mbytes)
The document is now 521.1 Mbytes.
It behaves flawlessly.
To get rid of possible oddities linked to the document origin,
export the document as text to get rid of every odd items.
Open the text in Pages then copy the pictures.
I apologizes but as far as I know, there is no other workaround.
Complementary details:
When my document is open,
Pages uses 1.24 Gbytes in Ram and 1.49 Gbytes in virtual memory (which is HD space).

Customizing Paging File: what is the recommended initial and maximum size?
Hi everyone, and Harm,
Following Harm's response to my question about how to setup disks, Harm said this:
"disk allocation: It is a three stage process, first you define the boot order in the BIOS, then you format the disks inWindows and allocate drive letters, then still in Windows you setup the pagefile. Then the allocation of media cache, preview, project etc. is done in the preferences and project setup of PR."
and I have a question about paging file.
First let me say describe my new machine, it has a 4 disc setup, no RAID, 16GB RAM, with OCZ-Vertex3 for OS & Programs, i.e. i have installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on this disc, and Web Premium CS5 and Acrobat Pro 9. In BIOS, i have made the OCZ (OS) disk, be the priority in the Boot order.
Later, after verifying the system is in working order, i will upgrade to Classic Collection CS5.5, so at this point, i have named my 3 additional disks as such,
WDC WD 2002FAEX-007BA0 - "Media Projects(D)"
WDC WD 1002FAEX-00Y9A0 - "Pagefile, Media Cache (E)"
WDC WD 1002FAEX-00Y9A0 - "Previews, Exports(F)"
So, for now these are simply names, which i have given to the various disks, and now i am changing the paging file, switching it from happening in the OS disk, in order to happen inthe disk which (via Premier, later) will be designated for Media Cache.
So, in Windows Performance Options pane, I went to Advanced tab, & under Virtual memory I hit "change", uncheck Automatically manage paging file size for all drives, select drive E, which is the disk that's to have the paging file happen in it.
And the question, assuming that i am supposed to select Custom size, can you Harm, or/and others, please recommend the Initial and Maximum sizes?
Or, should i select "System managed size"?
Thanks:)http://lifehacker.com/5426041/understanding-the-windows-pagefile-and-why-you-shouldnt-disa ble-it
Keep in mind Video/Animation applications use more ram now than almost any other type and there are far more memory hungry services running in the background as well. Consider the normal recommendations are for standard applications. HD material changed far more than just the need for 64Bit memory addressing.

Maximum size of an SQL statement
Hello,
we get a short dump with runtime error DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR and exception CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB.
The dump occurs at the following select statement:
select * from /rtc/tm_inuse
appending table gt_zrtc4inuse
where obj_name in lv_sel_copy
and trkorr ne p_trkorr.
We think the problem is the number of entries in the range table lv_sel_copy so that the maximum size of the SQL statement is reached.
But how likely is the maximum size ?
Depends the size on the data base ? We are using MaxDB 7.6, MaxDB 7.7.
How can we determine the maximum size so that we can calculate the nubmer of entries in the range tabel.
Any other idea or solution ?
Thanks
ArnfriedHi,
You are getting this dump because maybe your entries are huge and it might have exceeded the buffer space of the table. You have to ask your basis team to increase the size of the buffer space.
or,
You can segregate the range values into smaller ranges and fetch from the database accordingly..
You can see the size of the table space in DB02.
or please refer this thread:

If you require other information please requestHi,
Under certain conditions, an Open SQL statement with range tables can be reformulated into a FOR ALL ENTRIES statement:
DESCRIBE TABLE range_tab LINES lines.
IF lines EQ 0.
[SELECT for blank range_tab]
ELSE.
SELECT .. FOR ALL ENTRIES IN range_tab ..
WHERE .. f EQ range_tab-LOW ...
ENDSELECT.
ENDF.
Since FOR ALL ENTRIES statements are automatically converted in accordance with the database restrictions, this solution is always met by means of a choice if the following requirements are fulfilled:
1. The statement operates on transparent tables, on database views or on a projection view on a transparent table.
2. The requirement on the range table is not negated. Moreover, the range table only contains entries with range_tab-SIGN = 'I'
and only one value ever occurs in the field range_tab OPTION.
This value is then used as an operator with operand range_tab-LOW or range_tab-HIGH.In the above example, case 'EQ range_tab-LOW' was the typical case.
3. Duplicates are removed from the result by FOR ALL ENTRIES.This must not falsify the desired result, that is, the previous Open SQL statement can be written as SELECT DISTINCT.
For the reformulation, if the range table is empty it must be handled in a different way:with FOR ALL ENTRIES, all the records would be selected here while this applies for the original query only if the WHERE clause consisted of the 'f IN range_tab' condition.
FOR ALL ENTRIES should also be used if the Open SQL statement contains several range tables. Then (probably) the most extensive of the range tables which fill the second condition is chosen as a FOR ALL ENTRIES table.
OR
What you could do in your code is,
prior to querying;
since your select options parameter is ultimately an internal range table,
1. split the select-option values into a group of say 3000 based on your limit,
2. run your query against each chunck of 3000 parameters,
3. then put together the results of each chunk.
For further reading, you might want to have a look at the Note# 13607 as the first suggestion is what I read from the note. -
Maximum size of XML files and number of IDocs for IDoc receiver adapter
Hi Guys,
We have an XML file to IDoc scenario where XI picks up an XML file with multiple Customer records in it, it does a simple mapping and creates one DEBMAS06 IDoc per record in the XML file. All IDocs are sent in a single file in XML-IDOC format to IDoc adapter which then posts the separate DEBMAS IDocs to R/3.
a) What is the maximum size of XML files that XI can handle with mapping involved ?
b) What is the maximum number of IDocs in a single file that the receiver IDoc adapter can handle ?
The first time this interface runs almost 200,000 Customer records will be exported in one XML file.
Thank you.Hi,
Well it is difficult to find out the maximum Size of xml messgaes that can be processed by XI and also Maximum number idocs an recevier Idoc adapter can handle.
This totally depends on your production system loads and the limits can be set totally on trail & error basis..
In my heavy loaded production system, i found out that the maximum size of the successfull messages after processing by XI is around 75 MB (seen in transaction SXMB_MONI). Whereas messages with size around 100 MB went into error.
I havent encounter any such limits with respect to Idocs.
I would suggest that you divide your data into smaller chunks and sent it part by part instead of sending it all once since you data size is huge.
You can vary your batch size as per your system load.

Lightroom 5 exporting wrong file sizes?
I am having trouble with Lightroom 5 exporting images at incorrect file sizes. For example, if I use my export preset for images with long edge 2500 pixels and maximum size 1000k it is exporting images at 1500-2500k.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I am wondering if it is a bug.
ThanksI never had a problem with it in LR4. The example I gave was one of many options I tried. At the other end I asked it to produce smaller files (eg 1500pixels long edge) with a 1000k maximum and I could only get them to output at around 160k.
I have since realised that I neglected to mention that I was using LR/Mogrify2 plug in to add a text graphic to the images. I experimented with turning that option off and I was able to produce a 2500px long edge file at 996k. As soon as I turn that option on again the file ouptuts at 1600k (where I have specified at 1000k limit).
This was never a problem with LR4 so there is a conflict or a bug somewhere.
Is anyone else using a LR / Mogrify 2 plug in and experiencing unpredictable results? I have the option to use LR / Mogrify 2's version of ImageMagick checked.
Message was edited by: Shipp
So I just did further testing. It seems that LR5 cannot control the maximum file size when working with Lr / Mogrify 2. If I ask the plug in to resize the image and control the maximum file size I can produce a file with long edge 2500pix, 1000k maximum size and the text graphic with no problem at all, as I used to be able to do with LR4. I will contact the plug in developer and see if they are aware of this. -

Back in Febuary I have seen posts (Jay and Rich's) that there were some solutions coming down the pike. Are there any solutions or what can be done to solve the error of maximum size allowance? What I did was upgrade the initial portal instance with Portal 3.0.6 with the upgrade scripts first. Then import over to a new instance of 3.0.9 with your old content or data. Then, reran the sso_schema script for rebuilding connectivity to the log-in server.

Encrypt function in 10g - RAW maximum size issue
Hello,
I m trying to encrypt some data using the ENCRYPT function provided by Oracle 10g.
It appears that the function uses only RAW type and RAW apparently has a maximum size of 2000 bytes.
And in my situation, the RAW data I would get after encrypting would be well above 2000 bytes. Can some one throw some light on how I can work around this situation.
I'd appreciate any help here.

I actually was not aware of the fact that CHAR and VARCHAR2 are, by default, defined in terms of bytes, not characters when declaring column size. It seems like all I have to do is alter my tables in the 10g environment to be NVARCHAR2 instead of VARCHAR2, and that will define the columns in characters, not bytes. -

In your case check the RFC destination used and progid associated in that and make sure that the same progId exists in the system you want to receive data
Note : progID is key for receiving data so make sure only one is active at a time.(in your case required D or Q s id in other system change the progid)

Export buffer not sufficient.Preview deactivated
Hi ,
When I am trying to design a view in ABAP web-dynpro component.
I am not able to see the preview of the view due to insufficient buffer. Please find below the steps to reproduce the error.
Steps:
1.Tcode = SE80.
2. Web dynpro component : HAP_DOCUMENT_BODY
3. Select the view 'VW_BODY_VIEW'
4. After the view is selected, click on the button 'Show/Hide Layout Preview'.
After clicking on this button, I am getting an error ' Export buffer not sufficient. Preview deactivated. -> Note 965337'
As this note(965337) is applicable for SAP_BASIS Release 700 but we are having SAP_BASIS Release 701 SP3 in our system.
To resolve the export buffer problem we have increased the size of parameters to
rsdb/obj/buffersize: 40000
rsdb/obj/max_objects : 20000
still we are getting the same error like " Export buffer not sufficient.Preview deactivated.-->Note 965337
The OS that we are using is AIX 5.3 with database is Oracle 10.2
Please suggest us best possible way to resolve this.

40 MB may not be enough, our buffer is on 200 MB (we use WD quite heavily).

What is the maximum size of the dmp(exp) file?
Friends,
OS: RHEL AS 3.0
DB: Oracle 9iR2
Daily i am taking the dmp file backup using exp utility.
Now the file size is 777MB.
What should be the maximum size of the dmp file.?
if it crosses 1GB, is it possible to copy the dmp file from production server to test server using putty?
In future we are planning to upgrade our 9iR2 db to 10gR2 db.
if i use the export dmp file of 1GB file size for upgrading from 9iR2 to 10gR2, will there be any problem
Note: I am also taking user managed backup.
thanksRegarding your question about using exp/imp for 9iR2 to 10gR1/2 upgrade, I've used it a lot for the same purpose without any problems, BUT I'm talking about application schemas with only tables/indexes and views. Don't know what would happen with more complex objects...

"Limit Capture/Export File Segment Size To" doesn't work
I put the limit to 4000 MB before i startet capturing HD-video, but it didn't work. Several of my files are bigger than 4 GB. This is a problem since I use an online back up service that has 5 GB as the maximum file limit. Any suggestion to fix this problem is highly appreciated.
I believe, although I am not 100% sure, that the "Limit Capture/Export File Segment Size To" does not apply to Log and Transfer, only Log and Capture.
Since Log and Capture works with tape sources, when the limit is hit, the tape can be stopped, pre-rolled and started again to create another clip
In the case of Log and Transfer, it is ingesting and transcoding existing files; the clip lengths (and therefore size) are already determined by the source clip.
If you are working with very lengthy clips, you may want to set in and out points to divide the clips into smaller segments.

Aperture database maximum size
is there any recommendet maximum size for Libs ?
I´m using an iMac 4GB RAM Intel dual coreDon't know what the absolute limit might be; there are some here with well over 100,000 images. Practical limits are:
-- Around 10,000 images in a single project. As I think of projects as rolls of film, my largest is only 200-300 images.
-- Physical disk space. A "managed" library cannot span more than one logical volume. But the largest element in your library is likely to be your master images, not your indices or previews, so by moving your master images out of the library ("referenced" masters) you can scatter them over any number of volumes. As shown by Kevin Doyle's research, only the indices/versions/previews need be on a fast drive. So, with the masters removed from your library, and the library placed on a fast, internal drive, you can manage a lot of images. Takes a little care and attention, but works very well. (Sierra Dragon, among others, is a strong proponent of this structure. Search some of his posts.)
The occasional defrag of the library itself speeds up scrolling, searching, and exporting. The master images themselves, as they are never rewritten, do not fragment. (Unless, of course, they were fragmented when first written.)
What is your problem or worry?
