Export doesn't capture entire Sequence

Yesterday it worked just fine. Today I edited my sequence and exported as QT DV NTSC (as I did yesterday). The sequence is only 10mins and the export only captures 8;30. There is nothing at the spot it quits. There is no marker, no edit, just part of a clip. I've repeated this and each time it exports to the same spot, which is not the end.
Why? Argh Help
FCP 6.03

I use 'Home' to set inpoint and 'End' to set outpoint...
Could be a corrupt file or render file. You might try using the Render Manager to delete all renders, re-render and try again.
What type of clip is it hanging on...video or graphic?

  • PDF from Word doesn't capture entire page

I've created many a PDF from Word documents, but today I'm puzzled. I've created a one-page flyer in standard letter size (8.5 x 11"). I've set all margins - including header and footer - to zero, and placed a top and bottom of page border right at the top and bottom edges. Everything looks fine in Word, but when I convert the document to PDF, approximately a quarter-inch is missing from the left and right sides, and a full half-inch is missing from the bottom.
I've checked Page Setup to make sure of paper size, etc. but don't know what else to check.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    D'OH!
BD, has anyone ever held a parade in your honor?
It took me about three hours to conceive and do the layout for this flyer. Then another 5 hours trying to get it to convert properly into a PDF. When it didn't convert correctly from Word, I fired up Classic, launched an old version of Quark XPress and recomposed the flyer. But when I tried to export it to PDF, Acrobat Distiller (remember that?) just sat and spun its wheels. It did spit out a Postscript file, but it wouldn't actually make the PDF for some reason. Never even generated an error. Then, I accidentally double-clicked the Postscript file, and Preview launched as said it was making a PDF. I was a happy camper... until I discovered that this PDF was cut off on both the top and bottom.
Then I checked my email and found you had answered my cry for help (yet again).
When I followed your instructions (which I did try to find on my own before posting my plea), the PDF came out perfectly on the first try.
My thanks to you for what must be by now the 85th time.

  • Exporting entire sequence (MPEG-2 DVD) exports entire sequence audio but only 2/3 video?

I'm certain this is something simple but can't for the life of me figure out what is going on here.   My entire sequence is 24:10 long.  Export produces a video file that is 17:19 long and an audio file that is complete (24:10).  Looking at my sequence, 17:19 is precicely in between two clips (of dozens) but there doesn't appear to be anything interesting/unusual about either of those clips or the break and transition between them?
    Help!!?   THANKS in advance!

Either by playing the video file (it ends precisely between those two clips) , viewing it's length metadata in Windows, or after importing in to DVD Flick to burn a DVD.
Since I posted this question I tried exporting with H.264 YouTube preset and got entire sequence exported fine (video and audio).
Sent from a mobile device.  Excuse brevity.

  • Motion 3 not exporting entire sequence

I'm trying to export and sequence from Motion and it will not export the entire sequence. My animation is not terribly complicated, just photos with some animated text so I don't think that it's something my computer can't handle. Motion doesn't crash or do anything strange. I'm not having any problems with any other Motion projects (some that are much more involved too). It just stops the export around 3/4 way through. I've checked all my settings and everything appears to be in order. I've even tried exporting parts of the animation and it still won't export everything between the in and out points. Any suggestions?

when you export are you using "export play range"?

  • Export Setting: how to make "entire sequence" as default?

    Hi all,
One of my largest pet peeves with Premiere Pro/Adobe Media Encoder is that it defaults to the source range of "work area". I never want to do this. I want to export the full sequence always. However Premiere Pro seems to like to change the work area slider in the timeline if I move stuff around a lot, and since I've never had to worry about this in Final Cut Pro, I'm not used to always checking to see if the work area slider is the same length as my sequence. Thus there's been many a time where my videos have exported with a big chunk of black at the end of some videos.
Is there a way to make the default source range be "entire sequence" rather than "work area"?
    Thanks,
    William

Nope: Adobe Feature Request/Bug Report Form
In the meantime, zoom out full in your sequence (hit the '\' key) and double-click in the time ruler. That will set the WAB to the full duration of the sequence, so it won't matter if you're set to Work Area or Entire Sequence in the Export Settings.
For what it's worth, I've also requested that the source range be able to be saved into encoding presets; that would help this situation somewhat, as well.

  • When exporting a small area using in-out points, why does Premiere render audio for ENTIRE sequence?

I'm trying to export a small section of my timeline using in and out points... but it looks like Premiere wants to render the audio for the entire sequence and not just my in-out points.
I added a bunch of audio effects to the entire sequence so it's taking 10 minutes to render this audio. When I click on the cancel button, Premiere just freezes and I have to force shut it down.
Is it possible for premiere to only render the audio in the in-out points I originally asked for to cut down on export times?

Similar problem here but on a Mac.   AME is always much slower than directly exporting from Premiere, but if I start to get slow renders a reboot always sorts the issue out.

  • Exporting a part of a sequence to Quicktime movie!

Is there a way to export a part of a sequence to quicktime movie in FCP?
I come from Premiere world. In premiere there is a work area bar in the timeline; During AVI export it can be set to export clips within work area. That kind of ability seems to be missing in FCP. When I try to export, its exporting entire sequence. Is there a way to limit export area within a sequence?
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks henners, I just figured that out myself. Thanks for your help anyways.
Another question, Is there a set-up that I can make so that the clips that are exported to quicktime movie, automatically imported into the project. I know I can manually import the clip. Again, Premiere had the ability to do this. I looked through the preference set-up, didn't find anything.
    Thanks.

  • Need to apply a video filter to entire sequence...

    Hey gang-
I'd really like to apply some filters (such as some color correctors and such) to an entire sequence. Same filter on all video. Copy and paste seems like a terrible waste of time, and short of exporting it and "flattening" it to it's own quicktime, I don't know how.
    Thanks in advance....

    Many ways:
    1. Do it for one, then use the Select All Tracks Forward button (one of the forward arrows in the toolbar next to the audio meters) and drag the name of the filter from the Filters tab in the first clip onto the selected clips.
    2. Do it for one clip, then copy the clip. Select all the others, then ctrl-click and go to Paste Attributes. Then select Filters.
    3. Create a new sequence, then drag the old sequence into the new one. This will nest the sequence. Apply the color correction to the nested clip. This is probably the most flexible as it is much easier to make changes to the filters later on.

  • Exporting chronologically by capture time without having to rename files

Is there any way to export files by capture time without having to rename all the files? Right now they are always rearranged numerically by the file name and get all mixed up chronologically.
    Thanks, Kinsey

Although it may not be of help to you, it happens that Jeffrey Friedl's "Export to Zenfolio" (Lightroom plugin) provides the option to keep the destination folder (Gallery) sorted according to various criteria, such as creation date, etc. This would do what you want, but unfortunately this doesn't work for general export (e.g., to disk). I'm not aware if anyone's written a plugin that does export file-sorting for "general" export.
Friedl also has written "Export to..." plugins for Smugmug, Picassa, Flickr, and Facebook, although I don't know if all (or any) of these have the same gallery sorting options as in his excellent Zenfolio export plugin.

  • Log and Transfer won't capture entire clip...

    Hi there,
I'm trying to log and capture clips in FCP7 from and HVX200.
For some reason it doesn't capture the entire clip...the end gets cut off. I can see it in the log and transfer window, but when I transfer the clips, they become truncated.
Has anyone ever had this problem?
    thanks!

Go into the Log and Transfer prefs...that little sprocket looking drop down menu.  Choose PREFERENCES.  Uncheck "REMOVE PULLDOWN."
    Try again.

  • Batch capturing entire tape...recomended???

Is it a good idea to attempt to batch capture a tape in its entirety? I am having problems doing this...I do a lot of events that last often over 2 hours. Instead of capturing footage in clips, I just capture the entire tape. When I'm done with the project, I simply make the clips offline.
I'm in the process of reviving a project now, and one tape in it's entirety(55 min approx), captured OK, but I am having problems with another tape. I am getting a broken timecode error, when I don't see how this is possible...because I let the tape freely run. Also, under the logging info, the media ends before the tape ends, which means that is space left on the end of the tape without any timecode. Yet when I batch capture, it still goes to the end of the tape.....isn't a batch capture suppose to go by the clips media in and media out points?
    All help is greatly appreciated.

I do this often. There are two shools of thought on this method -
Capturing entire tapes allows one to scroll through non-linearly and make subclips. The advantage to subclips is that they are serachable and you can add comments. The downside to this method is that the files are large, and you may be capturing much more metarila than you need. I often do this when working on docs with very high shooting ratios. The most recent one had 190 tapes for a 1-hour program, which led us to use offline RT for our cutting format and then recapture for online.
Logging and capturing single clips fives you the advantage of starting out capturing only what you know you might use, you can input the logging info at the start, and will have several small clips that may be easier to manage. Since at some point you'll have to familiarize youself with the matreial anyway, you might as well do it at the logging stage.
Several factors can contribute to perceived TC breaks - reusing tapes, camera stops, shooting format (HDV, for instance, will show a TC break each time the camera stops). If you are capturing whole tapes, you might do well to let FCP create new clips on TC breaks and just let it roll. Make sure the TC format matches between your tape and settings (DF vs. NDF)
Regarding rolling off the end of the tape during capture, you might be very close to the end with the clip you are capturing. You might try lowering the post-roll value in the device control preset in your A/V settings.
    Hope this helps -

  • Unable to play back entire sequence in CS4

I'm transitioning from FCP to Premiere and am having an odd issue with a project. I cut up a clip with the razor blade tool, copied it a few times, reversed some in the speed/duration panel and arranged them in a sequence. I then rendered the entire work area. However, when I try to play back my sequence, it just plays less than a second and then the marker on the timeline returns to the original point. I feel stupid asking this, but...uh, how do I just play back my entire sequence? I must be missing something here.
    Thanks,
    Zach

Thanks for the suggestion.  I thought this could have been the problem as the files are on a different disk from the application, but launching premiere as root yields the same issue.  The option to repair permissions on the secondary drive (where the files are located) is greyed out in Disk Utility, possibly because I disabled permissions for everything on that disk.  I even tried logging in as a user on that drive and launching Premiere, but then I get a "media pending" screen in the program window.
    Any more ideas?

iMac running 10.8.6 doesn't display entire desktop?  Reset display to various options and it doesn't display the entire desktop.  (asking for a friend, not my iMac)

I think you wanted to say 10.6.8. 10.8.6 does not exist.
The first thing I think is that zoom may be enabled. On Mac OS X 10.6.8, a way to disable it is to hold the Control key and scroll down with the mouse or trackpad until you can see the whole display. Another way would be to disable zoom in System Preferences > Universal Access
