Export .mpb from sql

Dear all,
Is it possible to export the .mpb files from ServiceManager Database?

So what, specifically, do you want to get out?
MPB is a Management Pack Bundle, which is exactly what it sounds like; a bundle of management packs and the resources they depend on. You can get sealed and unsealed MPs from the database by going to the administration tab, management packs view, right click
and choose export. selecting multiple MPs will export a MPB bundle, but it's constructed by the console by bundling all of those MPs you selected.
If you're looking to get packages that were originally imported by a third party product, not really. MPBs are temporary packages, they're not stored in the database anywhere. This won't work for the out of the box MPs either, some of those basic MPs are
so basic that they have to be built directly  in the database by the installer. you might need to contact the vendor if you need copies of these.
If you want to get copies of the sealed and unsealed management packs out of the database so you can review them, then MPBs won't help you, because they're binary and not human readable.
If you're looking to make backups, or look through the out of the box MPs for examples of how to do things, then consider the automation scripts that use the
SMLets PowerShell modules and task scheduler to export all unsealed MPs periodically. there are quite a few out there on the net, and i've written 2 or 3 different versions for different clients myself.
Also consider the "SuperQuery" (as me and my colleges have taken to calling it).
Originally outlined by Travis, it is a VERY expensive query that allows you to basically do a full text search on the whole MP XML Store. This will let you examine the XML behind all management packs that are in your database. IT'S VERY EXPENSIVE, so use
sparingly, and don't use it in production.
Use ServiceManager
select MPName, CONVERT(xml,MPXML) as MPXML from ManagementPack
where MPXML like '%Incident Support Group%'
Order by MPName
If there's another use case that I've missed, let me know, and maybe we can find the right solution.

  • Error while exporting data from sql server to excel

    Hi,
I am trying to export data from sql server to excel.
The query that I used is s follows
    INSERT INTO OPENROWSET( 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0', 'Excel 8.0;Database=C:\Folder1\abc.xls','select * from [Sheet1$A1:IV65000]')
    select
    column1,column2.... from Table1
I get the following error message while doing so..
String or binary data would be truncated.
    The statement has been terminated.
One of the column's holds data more than 225 characters.
What is the way to correct this, i want the whole data of the colum in the excel sheet.

I haven't had great luck with the INSERT INTO OPENROWSET method.  Can you try one of the many samples from one of these 3 links?

  • Issue to export data from sql to excel

I have MS SQL 2008 Developer version and visual studio 2008. I'm using SSIS Import and Export Wizard on the VS2008 to create a simple package to export data from a table using a sql query to excel file (.xlsx), but I got the following
    error messages:
[Destination - Query [37]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.  An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E21.
[Destination - Query [37]] Error: Cannot create an OLE DB accessor. Verify that the column metadata is valid.
[SSIS.Pipeline] Error: component "Destination - Query" (37) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC0202025.
    The SQL query is
    SELECT [BusinessEntityID]
          ,[PersonType]
          ,[NameStyle]
          ,[Title]
          ,[FirstName]
          ,[MiddleName]
          ,[LastName]
      FROM [AdventureWorks2008].[Person].[Person]
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Or another way is to save the package created by Export Import wizard, open it in BIDS and add a Derived column task before the Excel destination to do explicit casting of the columns to your required unicode datatypes.

  • SSIS to Export data from SQL to flat file dynamically

    Hi.
I hope somebody can help me out, I have a table like this:
Date, StoreNumber, ProductCode, SalesItem, SalesAmout, Inventory
    09-10-2014,10,1,10,10,30
As you can see I have a Date field and my table has information from 2014 at daily basis, What I'm trying to do is to export the information of this table to flat files, creating one file pear each date, as a result I will have about 280 files (one per date)
I do not know if it is possible or not.
    Thank you.

    Hi Mike,
you can do it using one Execute SQL Task and a ForEach Loop variable driven.
1st the Execute SQL Task "figures out" how many iterations the loop would need. The SQL as follows would drive it:
    SELECT DISTINCT [DATE] FROM MyTable;
and you get the dates placed into a package variable of type recordset for the [280] files.
And then you can operate on the recordset in the loop "shredding it" in a DFT with a source query dynamically driven by the date as "select a,b,c from mytable where date = '" + @[User::CurentDate] + "'" placing each
"date" into its own file even naming the file after the date using the current value of the package variable (ADO row concept).
    See an example: http://www.sqlis.com/sqlis/post/Shredding-a-Recordset.aspx

  • Procedure/batch file to export data from sql to excel(predefined path)

    Hi,
I have countries, sites, states tables (total 3) in database (i have user id and password to connect to this database).
every week i need to extract data from these tables into excel files and i need to save those in shared drive for team use.
Currently i am connecting to database every time running sql query and manually exporting that latest data to excel and saving that as excel files in (G:\team\common\) folder with specific name.
output format should be : excel (.xls)
    file names should - countries.xls,sites.xls,states.xls
    server name : ap21
    output location : G:\team\common\ ( G is shared drive).
i heard that we could create batch file to do this task and also we could use oracle procedure to do this task. but not sure which one is the best option.
could you please guide me what is the option and also help me with technical stuff to do this task.

    Hello,
output format should be : excel (.xls)Do you really want to create .xls files? This is not easy to do because it is a proprietary (MS) binary format. You should consider other formats like .csv or .xlsx. Follow the link in the previous answer how to generate them.
file names should ...The name of the files does not matter, you are free to name them as you like.
    server name : ap21
output location : G:\team\common\ ( G is shared drive). You can write the file generated in the database only to directories that are accessible from the db as Oracle Directories. You could mount the shared drive to the db server, but it might be better to write the output to a server directory and then transfer them to the shared drive with OS-copy command or FTP.
i heard that we could create batch file to do this task and also we could use oracle procedure to do this task. but not sure which one is the best option.I would use Oracle Scheduler to execute a PL/SQL procedure to generate the files and then a OS-batch file to transfer them. You can use the Scheduler to execute the batch file too, see {message:id=3895983}.

Anyone who has tips of how to export data with large amount of text in some cells to excel?
    Would be much appreciated!
Sry if I posted in the wrong forum, I did not know where this question belongs..
    BR,
    Jennie

    Hello Jennie,
first this is just a warning, not an error.
The export to Excel is limited to 255 characters per cell, so if you try to export data with 500 characters, then it can happen, that 245 characters of your origin data will be truncated.

  • How to exclude schema name from exported files (PL SQL Developer)

    Dear all,
Just one question: I am using PL SQL Developer. My goal is to export some data (as .sql and .dmp files) from one database and to import them into the another database (both databases have identical structure - test database and production, just different database names and names of schema. In order to make it possible, I need to exclude schema name from generated export file. I believe that it is possible to do it automatically by setting up parameters of PL SQL Developer. How?
    Thank you in advance,
    Kindest regards,
    Dragana

In the meantime, I have found the answer on my previous question:
Actually, the initial idea (how to exclude schema name from exported files) was wrong. No need for any intervention.
Trick is: Schema name can be changed during the import of exported files (PL SQL Developer during import gives possibility: From User (old schema) To User (new schema) .
Hope that this will be useful info for others.

  • Report from SQL Query -Excel format only show the first page

    Hi,
I have some Reports from SQL Query. In the display options, I choose Excel as default format. The Excel documents only show the first page. If I choose HTML as default format, it shows every rows.
Please advise on how to have a complete Excel document as HTML format does.
    Thanks a lot.
    Lina Han

I beleive when you export Oracle reports to Excel it is the Data that is transferred along with Column Names.
You cannot export the variables defined on the report.
Hence you will not be able to export the Footer to excel. (Still looking into it will let you know if i find anything interesting)

  • Exporting Data From Oracle 10g to Access

    Hi Experts,
I need to export data from oracle apps shcema(each and every object in it) to MS ACCESS File.
Please let me know how to do it
    Thanks and Regards,
    Andy

Since you did not provide details of what you are planning to do, a very simple, however, depending upon the number of your tables, very labour intensive solution:
Although being not very familiar with access, I think access offers a means to import csv files.
So e.g. using SQL*Plus you can execute the following steps.
    set pagesize <nnn>
    set linesize <nnn>
set colsep ',' -- You may choose other special characters to separate columns of your output
    spool <csv-file>
    select * from <tab>;
spool offWherever you see <nnn> exchange by appropriate numeric values to get just one page as result and to configure your line size to hold a complete record in one output line.
Replace <csv-file> and <tab> by the name of your output file to be read in to access and by the name of your table, respectively.
