Export MXF with 5.1 Audio

Hi,
i want to export a MXF-File with 5.1 Audio out of Premiere CC 2014.0.1, but the only options that i get in the audio export-menu are 2-channels, 4-channels, 6-channels, ..., 32-channels. Is it possible to export with 6-channels arranging the mono-files in the right order or is there a special meta-data affordable that the exported file is recognized as 5.1? Anyone?
Thanks!

Richard, thank you so much for that link. That seems to have done the trick, at least 95%. I have successfully routed all tracks to a single 5.1 file that can now be successfully exported... however, even after following his invert track trick, I am still getting nothing in my LFE track. How on earth do you rout that LFE track? Has it changed in premiere CC 2014?

  • Export MXF with multiple audio channels for broadcast

    Hi,
I work at a broadcast company as an editor. We always used FCP with the free sony xdcam plugin to export. This plugin seems to be one of the rare ways to export an MXF with 4 audio channels. I don't know exactly why we need to export it for broadcasting with 4 audio channels, but we do.
Since our workload has grown enormously the last few months and it will only become more we are optimizing our workflow. We also work with a lot of different endboards in After Effects and we made a nice template to work with. And since AE and Premiere can make a dynamic link we are considering changing from FCP to Premiere.
Now comes the question!: The only obstacle we could not find an answer to is exporting it with 4 audio channels as an MXF from Premiere CS5. Will there be some development on this level regarding CS6?
A solution to this should save us a lot of time!
Any help will be highly appreciated!
I also attached an example for the usual MXF files we export

I have the same problem. I have a project with multiple audio channels and I want to export them as individual channels in a MXF-file.
    Method:
When I created a new sequence I choose "Multichannel" from the "Tracks" page. When I export the MXF OP1a, I choose 8 channels from the "Audio" page. None of the channels are muted.
    Result:
The rendered file contains 8 channels, but only the first two channels contains any audio (main left + right), the rest of the channels are empty. Channel 1 and 2 contains the audio from all channels, but I want the channels to be seperated in the same way as they are layered in Premiere.
I don't understand your answer to wleoni75's question. Could you please help me further?

  • Export problems with relation to audio in Adobe Premiere Pro HELP!!

I have been working on a school assignment for media on Adobe Premiere  Pro CC and have come across a very frustrating issue that I have no idea about how to solve. it goes under the category of a 'technical difficulty'.
As I have alot of interviews and talking in my project for my Documentary I am shooting on Bullying for my Current Affair I have alot of audio to deal with and with my Rode VideoMic Pro when in conversation in the midst of an interview there is a constant 'hiss and crackle' that one can hear when watching hence I have used the audio affect of "DeNoiser" to get rid of this and it seems to work great on my workflow in my sequence in Premiere as I have reduced most clips to -15Db's. But when I export my project as I have done several times, the 'Denoiser' affect doesn't work for the first 3 seconds + for all clips that I have used to affect for. At the start of all the clips used with the affect there is a constant hiss and crackle and after 3 seconds it fades out??? Please help me with this very unusual problem as I want this to be a fantastic film on your fantastic software!
    Thanks

I would not return Adobe, I would return the camera, it is not suited for editing. If you insist on editing that material and end up with pretty crappy results, play it out from a DVD player into a good tape based DV video camera thru analog in and pass it thru to firewire for capture.
To put it another way, when maximum achievable fidelity of video is 100, your camera is at 10% due to the heavy MPEG compression. You need to convert that to DV and you are left with around 8% due to DV compression, you then need to encode it again to MPEG and you end up with less than 1% out of a possible 100.

  • Can't export quicktime with 5.1 audio track - help

I have a very unusual problem that I am running into.
A festival has asked for a Pro Res Screener vs a DCP like I am used to with a 5.1 audio mix.
No problem I figure, I grab the 6 individual audio tracks from our sound guy, mastered as 5.1 L,R,C,LF,SL,SR.
I create a new sequence, lay in my Video track and the 6 audio tracks from track 1 - 6 in the same order as above.
I setup my sequence the first time to be a 5.1 sequence, with 5.1 tracks.
I set each track according to it's placement with the little 5.1 diagram in each track.
I export using pro res, and set the audio to 5.1, L,R,C,LF,SL,SR
I figure at this point all should be good. I bring the renderd file back into premiere to check the file and create a new sequence directly from the new file.
I get 1 video track with a 5.1 audio track.
This is where things get weird. There are 5 channels in the track, however the left and right tracks have a mixture of L,R,and C, there is no audio in the C track, no audio in the LF track, very slight audio in the SL track and no audio in the SR track.
    What is going on?
I have tried exporting this now about 10 different ways. Figuring that the audio tracks were all mono tracks I tried to set them up as individual mono tracks 1-6 and I just end up with a 5.1 track that has mixed L,R and no audio in any of the different channels.
I've searched the web and I'm going crazy with this. i'm about to send the project off to have it digitally mastered by someone else. this is quite ridiculous.
Has anyone experienced this problem before? I figure I have to be setting up something wrong? but what? how come there are no 5.1 templates in premiere to work from?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. I really hate to send this project off to someone else for such a seemingly simple task. Seriously, this is making DCP creation like a walk in the park!

Richard, thank you so much for that link. That seems to have done the trick, at least 95%. I have successfully routed all tracks to a single 5.1 file that can now be successfully exported... however, even after following his invert track trick, I am still getting nothing in my LFE track. • How to export presentation with a song/audio

Hi. My presentation is completely automatic. No manual clicks required. All slides automatically flow with transitions.
I added music (an MP3 song) to these slides. In Keynote, it plays fine. The song plays when the slides are moving.
But when I export it as a MOV file to Quicktime, it creates TWO separate files:
    1. Myfile.mov
    2. Myfile-soundtrack.mov
Just playing Myfile.mov does not help, it does not have sound. What nonsense is this? Is this Apple's famous UI design?
Anyway, how do I merge these files? Some googling suggested I use GarageBand. So I paid 19 bucks for this software, but even Sending to GarageBand does nothing, it just creates a .MOV file that still does not have sound.
    Any ideas or pointers?
I have Quicktime Player on my machine (although like any sane person, use VLC for any video playback) and also have the iWork 09 and GarageBand latest. My OS is Mountain Lion latest..
    Thanks.

How do i do it? i am trying to export a QT file for a live broadcast to lay on top of my main video.< </div>
Live? Cannot be done. There is no CPU-based codec that will decode and process alpha in realtime. You must use someone's proprietary, hardware-based codec.
What i am trying to do is put in a file from livetype and another one from motion and export them as a transparent background quicktime file to i can use it atop my livestreaming video. < </div>
"Livestreaming" is not a term that is in my dictionary. Did you make it up or is a proprietary format for a special Web application?
Doesn't really matter, you cannot do it live with a stock Macintosh.
You can recompress and reprocess your footage files and attempt to use video DJ appliances and software or you can get a conventional video switcher.
FCP is an offline editing system, not a live production environment.
If we still haven't answered your questions, how about you start a new thread with clearly stated goals.

  • Export Video with Multiple Audio Tracks

I need to be able to export video with audio on multiple tracks. I have moved to CS6 from FCP 7 where this was rather easy to do. I can make a preset in AME with more than enough mono tracks but after the encode the video is always smashed to one mono track. I am not doing a 5.1 mix, there are different mic's on each track that need to remain independant of one another and mixing them down within Premiere is not feasable. Are there no options to just have the audio 'pass through' like Compressor? Sorry if there are other posts but I have been searching forever and can not find a simple answer on this topic.
Also, is there no way to have the source timecode burn in? Putting a filter on the video in a sequence is unacceptable, I am very displeased to find that this doesn's seem possible in AME or Premiere, it has been part of Apple's suite for years.
Example of my preset from Compressor:
    Name: Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy)
Description: QuickTime movie with Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy) and audio pass-through
    File Extension: mov
    Estimated size: unknown
    Audio: multi-track pass-through
    Video Encoder
              Width: (100% of source)
              Height: (100% of source)
              Pixel aspect ratio: Default
              Crop: None
              Padding: None
              Frame rate: (100% of source)
              Frame Controls: Automatically selected: Off
Codec Type: Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy)

    Hi James,
For exporting a multitrack .wav file, you have to start a project with a multichannel audiomaster (3-16 tracks).
Copy and paste your complete edit to the new editsetting.
Now in the audiomixer you can route your audiolayers to the multichannel you like.
(CH1+2 pan to left is channel 1, pan to right is channel 2 and for a stereo track pan to center : channel 1 for left and channel 2 for right.)
Then you export your project to a 3-16 tracks multitrack .wav file.
When you need mono tracks you can import your multitrack .wav file in premiere. Then send it to Audition (edit in Audition) and then adobe will convert the file into mono tracks.
You'll find the mono tracks in your audio capture folder or can premiere search for then by 'reveal in explorer'.
The multi track .wav file has got timecode within the file.
When exporting in QT you can also choose for a multitrack audio file. It also contains your timeline timecode.
.avi or .mp4 video files cannot be exported with more than 5.1 channels of audio
MXF OP1a in XDCAMHD can also be exported with max. 16 channels of audio. It also contains your timeline timecode.
Hopefully you can get further with Premiere Pro with this info.
    Succes with it!!

  • Mxf with 8 audio channels

    Hey guys,
I`m editing a TV-Spot with Premiere CS6 and have to export it as a MXF OP1a (SMPTE 378M) (suffix .mxf) with 8 audio channels.
When exporting it with Pr the mxf has only two audio channels (I have re-imported it into Pr for checking the channels)
How do I get an mxf with 8 audio channels?
I`m a bit stranded as I`ve to finish it until tomorrow....
    (video signal compliance: ITU-R BT.709)
    Thanks so far!

Go to the Audio tab on the Export Settings dialog.  There you can select the number of channels in the MXF export.

  • Always asynchronous audio if I export an MXFop1a file with 8 channel audio from Premiere 2014.1 for delivery to XDCam HD U1 Sony.

I try now for hours to export an MXF op1a with 8 channel audio from Premiere CC2014.1  and with AME 2014.1 to copy the file on my XDCam drive u1 to a disc.
The file is always asynchronous after 20 or 30 minutes. The project is synchronous and also other codecs are synchronous if I export them. So I think it's a bug...
I use the newest Sony XDCam drivers. Also parts with no audio can't be render with intelligent render. If I use this option, Premiere or AME crashes...
I work on a mac system with 10.8.5 OSX.
Does anybody have the same problems or any ideas to solve my problem...
    Best regards,
    Florian

The following will answer both your questions a) and b).
Click on your master timeline and press cmd+0 (zero) to bring up Sequence Settings, then click on the Audio Outputs tab on the right. Click on the Outputs option and change it to 6. You can leave them as Stereo pairs.
Now, back on your timeline, you need to make sure all your audio is organised so each track. A1, A2, A3, A4 etc has all the relevant media on it.
Then, on the left of the timeline you see the Destination toggle buttons, then you see the Padlocks to lock tracks, then you have the Toggle Auto Select squares. If you right-click on the Toggle Auto Select squares you bring up a little sub-menu, at the top of this list you'll see Audio Outputs, which will show the stereo channels for that particular track. As you've changed the number of Audio Outputs in the Sequence Settings, the list will show: 1&2, 3&4, 5&6. You just tick whichever channels you want.
In your case, you have dialogue on the first 4 tracks, no problem, just go down through tracks 1,2,3 and 4 as described above and assign these to Audio Outputs 1&2.
Then just go down through your music and effects audio tracks and assign them accordingly.
Now, when you export your timeline as a self-contained media file, it will have different audio channels.
I hope that makes sense. When you change the number of audio outputs as described in the first step, I believe the rest of it is fairly self explanatory, once you know where the settings are.

  • Final Cut Pro X export troubles: exports video with only half the audio.

Ever since I updated Final Cut Pro X, I've been having problems exporting. I either get error messages or the audio doesn't fully export. When I tried exporting a master file to my desktop, I got a message saying “error occurred when creating frame” then lists the frame number. Someone suggested copying the project file and pasting it into a new project. I did that, and it exported without the error popping up; but halfway through the video, the audio disappears, and does so in the same spot it disappeared in a previous youtube export before I tried the copy/paste method. I don't have the original footage; I'm making color correction changes to an edit; so I'm not sure if the second half of the video is somehow corrupted, don't know how to check that, and not sure what to do if it is.
Another suggestion given to me was to delete the event my footage is in, then create a new event, re-upload all the footage into that one, and relink my project files to it. He also said don't delete my event and project folder at the same time, which I'm not even sure how you simultaneously delete two things on a laptop. I don't understand how this method would work though, since deleting the event makes my project disappear since it has nothing to link to. I'm scared to try this method since I don't want to lose my work; I really don't want to color correct it all over again.
Is there any way to successfully export the file suitable for youtube posting, or is this a bug in the system they haven't fixed yet?

    Just turned off background rendering.
I'm not certain what you mean for specs in a specific point in the video, but here are the specs for the entire edit I initially received:
    Dimensions: 1920 X 1080
    Codecs: H.264, AAC, Timecode
    2 Audio Channels
    Total bit rate: 12,083
Size: 951,735,770 bytes (951.7 MB on disk)
Here are the specs for the exported video that has the audio issue:
    Dimensions: 1920 X 1080
    Codecs: H.264, AAC, Timecode
    2 Audio Channels
    Total bit rate: 12,274
Size: 966,817,082 bytes (966.8 MB on disk)
The video is 10:28 minutes long and the audio leaves at 5:57.
If that wasn't what you were looking for, just let me know. I'm not very good with technical stuff sometimes so may have misunderstood.
Is there something I should have done to the piece before I began color correcting it, like transcoding?

  • How can I export m2ts footage with 5.1 audio in PP CS5.5?

    Dear All!
I have a 90 minutes project which made from 4 sequence. Sequence settings are the followings : AVCHD 1080p 25fps square pixels , 5.1 channel master audio.
I made the sequences from avchd file-s, which recorded with Sony HDR-CX700V with AVCHD 1080p 25fps and Dolby digital 5.1 sound.
Right now I finished the project with lots of effects and imported After effects compositions, and I cannot find any setting to create 5.1 sound.
I have Mainconcept codec suite, but this offer m2ts 1440*1080i settings only.( And I cannot configure the mainconcept codec settings.)
Do you have any idea how can I export the project without any degradation, and with 5.1 audio? The original footages recorded with this properties : H264/AVC - top field first - 22.000 Mbit/sec.
    And I use in the project some 720p H264/AVC - progressive - 8.001 Mbit/sec videos.
    Please help! Thanks a lot.

You have to consider a couple of things. Mixing 1080 and 720 material is best done in a 720 sequence, because uprezzing will seriously deteriorate quality, unless you accept black borders. That also means exporting a 720 format as maximum, unless again you accept serious quality loss. Whatever the resolution you choose, exporting AVCHD material to anything else than uncompressed, Lagarith or UT will entail a generation loss and thus quality loss. The best export settings are dependent on your delivery medium. DVD, BD or web.
Since you are working in a 1080 sequence, the quality loss of uprezzed 720 material is not a big issue, apparently, so what is the relevancy of 'the same quality' on export when you have already compromised quality?

  • Export MXF Op1a XDCAMHD with one stereo track?!

I need a MXF Op1a XDCAMHD with only one stereo track as a master file.
If i choose "stereo" in the export settings I always get two mono files.
I know, that it is not a standart in a MXF with XDCAM to use stereo, but
I know that there are some broadcaster out there who use such a file as master file.
Does anyone know how to create it? That would be very helpful.

That's right I checked the file in the VLC Player.
I exported an MXF IMX30 file and it worked with stereo file, in VLC as well!
I send the "stereo" MFX XDCAM to a broadcaster and he said it is not a MXF with a stereo track. So the same like I recognized after my export.
So it seems to be possible to export MXF's with stereo files, but not in XDCAM.
Does anyone use it? Or has a similar problem / workflow?!

  • Exporting from PPro CC - Exporting using Match Sequence Settings issue with 24 bit audio

I am having an issue exporting my sequence which contains final AIFF mix (24 bit 48 kHz) into a 'same-as-source' ProRes 422 file with 24 bit audio. I am specifically trying to export media with 'Match Sequence Settings' checked to create an identical output of what my sequence is. I wind up only creating a PR422 with 16 bit audio rather than 24 bit audio.
My sequence contains ProRes 422 media and 24 bit AIFF final stereo mix (1 audio file) from our Sound department.
My sequence is currently setup as "Custom" at 1920x1080, 23.976 fps, Square Pixels, Progressive, etc. Audio is 48 kHz (I don't see an option for choosing different bit rates in the 'Sequence Settings').
Using 'Match Sequence Settings', my options to alter the audio are "greyed out" and unavailable. I'm not sure why 'Match Sequence Settings' doesn't recognize that I am cutting with 24 bit audio and, instead, only exports 16 bit audio.

Always skip Match Sequence Settings and set up the export manually.

  • Exporting quicktime with 4 audio tracks for broadcast

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to do this? i need to get a program out to a broadcast quicktime file with sync on 1&2 and M&E on 3&4, i have the sequence setup correctly as did a digi playout for the same thing which was fine. However, if i do 'export quicktime' with sequence settings i only get two audio chanels. If i go to quicktime conversion then all the drop down menus for multiple audio chanels are greyed out.
    Any ideas?
    Best,
    GK

if i do 'export quicktime' with sequence settings i only get two audio chanels
how are up you assessing this? QT Player has only 2 playback channels and additional channels will be mixed down to those ... but if you press Cmd-J to open the movie properties you should see all 4 channels are there, or if you reimport your exported file back into FCP you'll see it contain the 4 audio tracks as exported ... if not then your export settings are not correct :/

  • Exporting videos with a 00:10:00:00 sequence timecode and 4 mono channels of audio

    Hi,
I have to export a video for broadcast with a starting timecode of 00:10:00:00.  I have found out how to change my zero point on my sequence so that the video starts at the right timecode, however when I export my sequence, it exports it with a timecode of 00:00:00:00.  I have tryed both checking and unchecking the 'use 00:00:00:00 timecode' box with no avail. I am using Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.3)  exporting to format: Mpeg2 MFX and codec: IMX30 Pal.
Also does anyone know how to export a video from premiere with 4 mono channels rather than one stereo track.  This is in the delievery spec and would be really grateful if you can get me out of this pickle!
    Thanks
    Graeme

Just curious but try a test export in another CODEC.
In the past I have never had a problem doing what you want in .mov or .avi. (never delivered Mpeg2 MFX and codec: IMX30 Pal.)
FWIW: I never use TC in that way now ...since all our broadcast delivery became file based.
Cant imagine why 00:10:00:00 as an example ... would  even be a "delivery spec" any more!   Question them maybe.
