  • Error in exporting from Interactive Report to PDF format

    Hello,
i am using APEX and from an Interactive Report i am trying to export using Download | PDF format. The table and corresponding report has only text fields. Database character set is UTF-8. Up to now i haven't been able to get a PDF file that can be open from Adobe Acrobat Reader. Every file fails opening with message like "Adobe Reader could not open filename.pdf, because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). This happens for every report i have tried up to now. If i export report in CSV format all are ok.
Is there a known bug with PDF download of APEX?
    TIA

    See this link: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/configure_printing.html
FOP & Cocoon are free (just need to install the software and configure) Bi Publisher I believe works only for Standard Reports and no Interactive reports at this time.. If you have the $$ BI Publisher is worth the investment!!
Also, it is rumored that APEX 4.0 will have the PDF generation built in as apposed to the current model where you need to bolt something on..
    Thank you,

  • ORA-20876 in csv export from interactive report = Possibly a bug?

    Hi Apex team,
yesterday i tried to download data to csv from an interactive report. The resulting csv file contained a "ORA-20876: Stop APEX Engine" only and no other data. I played around with other reports in my application and had no problems with exports.
After some investigation i found out that the buggy report contains a column of display type "Display as text (based on a LOV, escape special characters)". When I changed this column type to "Standard Report Column" for example, the error didn't appear anymore and the csv export contained complete data.
Maybe this is a bug? The environment is Apex 4.1.1.00.23 on 11g (UTF-8). Is there a workaround available?
    Regards,
    Jens

    Additional Information
The problem seems to occur only if a Shared Components LOV of type "Static" is referenced in the IR column.

    Hi,
what happens if you take the query from IR report and create a new classic report?
On this report enable csv export and then try the export.
Maybe that (format) data are causing export to fail.
Try to export just one row in your IR report (and classic report), so that you add where rownum < 2.

  • How to set the column width in the PDF exports of interactive reports ?

    Hello,
I have a huge problem with the PDF export for the Interactive reports. I'm using APEX 3.2.
I have to produce a PDF report in landscape format that show 21 columns. My problem is that the columns have a ridiculous short width and that the text inside the columns do not wrap in the columns. So I get things like that :
    Date Name
    2011 Leina
I should see 2011-08-01 and the name Leinad Jan
I tried several things to format the columns, but none of the them has any effect on the PDF itself.
    1) I used HTML code in the report query. It works well with the interactive report, but display the HTML tags in the PDF.
    2) I used css to set the width of my columns. It works in the interactive report, but not in the PDF, the column width do not change.
It's like the report do not notice that my page format is Legal 14 x 8.5 (Landscape) and still believe it's 8.5 x 11 (which is "portrait")
Do you have any idea so set the columkn widths in the reports ?
    Thank you !

To "remember" the column widths, add a mouse listener to the table header. Upon mouseReleased(), get the column widths and save them to your file. When the application starts next time, get the stored widths and set them using:
    table.getColumn("XXX").setPreferredWidth(...);
By default, your columns are adjustable, but you can use:
    table.getTableHeader().setResizingAllowed(true);

  • Apex 4.1.1 Difference in Saving Private Interactive reports

    Hi,
our customers found a difference in saving reports (interactive report) and i am not sure if it is a bug or a feature.
    Environment
    Redhat Linux 5.8 (64bit)
    Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 64bit
    Apex 4.1.1.00.23
    Description:
    - If i change a saved report (move columns or change filter etc.) i go to the action menu choose 'save report' and my saved report are changed permant and in the session. Thats ok and are to be expected.
    - If i change a saved report and click on the link_ of the saved report (on top of the Interacive report, the dialog box seems to be the same), only the session version of the report gets changed!
I have checked this several times with the view APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR_RPT.
    Is this a bug?
    regards,
    Wolfgang

    Hi Wolfgang,
The behavior you are seeing is not a bug, but rather designed behavior. The saved report link in the report settings is rename report link. If you hover over the link, Rename Report bubble displays. You can change the report attributes such as name, public and description. To save the report settings (filter, highlight, sort, control break, etc.), you need to click Actions > Save Report to save.

  • Saving private interactive report overwrites the primary report

    Hi,
Having this issue in Apex 4.1.1 and 4.2 (haven't tried it in versions prior to 4.1.1 yet).
So I got my standard IR, and trying to create a private report with control breaks, aggregations.
Once I save it as a private report, It applies the same on my primary report.
It's no big issue as I can flip back to Primary report and delete the control breaks, aggregations but is some kind of bug? Ideally it shouldn't modify my primary report unless I try to save it as "Default Report Setting".
    Cheers.

    Hi,
Try switching back to your Primary Report in the list of reports then choose Reset in the actions menu. This should then reset it back to your original report.
    Thanks

  • Interactive Report Subscription emailing different dataset

    Hi All,
I am having a bit of strange problem with subscriptions email on an interactive report.
I have the report to email users every morning from an interactive report.  The dataset that is emailed is not the same as the report on the interactive report screen.  The variance between what is emailed and what is on the report screen page is quite large and it is not an issue of the data changing between the email fist going out and the report screen being viewed.
Also, is there a way for a user to 'unsubscribe' from a report?
    Any help would be great,
    Thanks

APEX Version v:  Application Express 4.0.0.00.46

    Hello Becky,
While exporting from DEV you should set NO for following options
    <li> Export Private Interactive Reports
    <li> Export Interactive Report Subscriptions
Because, Private Reports and Subscriptions will be made by end-users and they will be made on Prod systems. So if you export them from DEV and import into PROD, then all private reports and subscriptions will be lost on PROD.

  • Upgrade To 4.2 Saved Interactive Reports

We are currently upgrading our environments to Apex 4.2 from 3.2.

  • Interactive Report Subscriptions

    Apex Version: 4.1.1.00.23
    Internet Explorer 7
    Oracle Database Version 10.2
    Server Linux
I have not seen a viable solution to this issue of subscriptions being wiped out when exporting from a development environment to a production environment. I understand internal ids will be different and I shouldn't have to write a bunch of code to try to offset the numbers as I have seen in some posts.
When exporting I am exporting the entire application.
Under the export preferences I am setting all to Yes. Still no subscriptions.
I have even tried to do an export/import of the wwv_flow_worksheet_notify and get error: Parent key not found. I don't know what parent key is failing.
I have looked at the export file searching for wwv_flow_api.create_worksheet_notify. It is not there.
I need a solution ASAP. I have to manually recreate each subscription for the end user, that is if I remember to capture it before I import it!
    Thanks so much,
    Becky

  • Saving user Interactive Reports in Production, when migrating a new version

    Hi All,
Interactive Reports allow individual users from creating their own custom reports.
If I were to migrate a modification to the Application, will these overwrite the user's Reports?
If it does, is there any way to save the user reports in Production, while we migrate an updated version of the application?
    Thanks.
    Kevin

    Hi,
This is a very commonly brought up issue. If you keep the same application ID from development to production and don't export the interactive reports from development then they will not be overwritten.
The original metadata will be used. There is an excellent blog post from Joel Kallman of Oracle on this topic which gives much more detail: http://joelkallman.blogspot.co.uk/2010/07/where-did-my-saved-interactive-reports.html
I used the methods discussed in the post when I needed to solve this problem.
    Thanks

  • Interactive Report with Null Columns

I've got a user who wants to export an interactive report, and he needs certain columns to appear on the export for him to fill the data in later (this is an intermediate step, while we work on getting all the data he needs in to the database). I've created the report query, and there are a handful of null/empty columns (to preserve the correct order for the export). When I try to add this query to APEX in an interactive report, I get a "ORA-00001: unique constraint (APEX_040000.WWV_FLOW_WORKSHEET_COLUMNS_UK2) violated" error.
Googling around shows me that this happens because of similarly-named columns, and the solution is to provide aliases to all columns. My report has aliases on all columns, but I still cannot create an interactive report. I've tried changing the null columns to empty strings, as well as enclosing the aliases in double-quotes, but nothing works. I can however use my original query to create a standard report, but due to the export requirement, this isn't ideal.
I was able to create the interactive report with one null column, and then edited the report source to add in the others. This had to be done one at a time, since trying to add multiple null columns at the same time gives the same error again. Unfortunately, when I try and run the page, I get an "ORA-20001: get_dbms_sql_cursor error ORA-00918: column ambiguously defined" error.
    My original query:
    select customer.customer_name as customer,
           project.name as project_name,
           trunc(project.estimated_end_dt) as due_date,
           project_status.project_status_desc as status,
           null as revenue,
           project.baseline_effort as baseline_hours,
           null as projected_cost,
           null as est_gain_loss,
           project.actual_hours as actual_hours,
           project.estimated_hours as projected_hours,
           null as projected_cost,
           null as projected_gain_loss,
           null as roi
        from project,
             customer
      where customer.customer_id = project.customer_id
      and project.inactive_ind = 0
      and project.customer_id is not null
      and project.estimated_end_dt >= :DTP_P50_STARTDT
      and project.estimated_end_dt <= :DTP_P50_ENDDT
    order by customer.customer_name,
project.estimated_end_dt;             Can someone tell me a way to create an interactive report with multiple null columns?

    Hi shimmoril,
The problem is likely that you have two columns aliased as "projected_cost" (7th column and 11th column).
    Hope this helps,
    John

  • Break line - Interactive report

    Hi,
The interactive report does not show the ||utl_tcp.crlf||, is there a way to make this line break shown on interactive report? is there any thing I can use to break line will be shown in IR?

Going to continue searching to see if there is another option... would like to get line breaks (char 10) working so it's nice in exports but interactive report columns dont allow for CSS formatting either.See +{message:id=10404268}+

  • User Saved Interactive Reports like in the old days?

    Hello!
Is there a way to display user saved (private) interactive reports in 4.0.2 like they were displayed in 3.2.1 (tabs instead of the Reports Select List)?
    BR Paul

    Hi,
I don't know, if it officially possible, but do not think.
But this is possible with some adjustments in your template/code.
Here can you see my little example with saved interactive reports shown in a different SQL region.
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=2071:201
Based on the query you can create the tabs and "fill" the tabs with the content.

I know, that I can just not to select this column in "Action" menu before exporting, but then to select it to view in report. But is it possible not to export this column, but having it in report result?
I Just have a checkbox in report, and I dont need to see it in export result.
