Export sections to Excel as individual tabs

Hi,
My report is sectioned for e.g by Area. Is there any way I can export this to excel as separate tabs i.e. a tab for each area?
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Aoife

This question comes up quite often (hint, hint, SAP moderators), but alas, the answer is "no".  Within WebI and exporting to Excel, all tabs go across, unless you use "CSV" option in Infoview, but that is best left for another discussion.  If you poke around a bit in the Desktop client, I've heard of folks using VB script (or is that Visual Basic script?) and writing some code to generate a new Excel worksheet for each tab encountered, but it is not possible in WebI due to it not being a client tool -- it's a web tool....
Thanks,
John

  • Crystal reports show rows of a field in detail section in number of columns while exporting in ms excel

    Hi,
    I have a crystal report and a field called source.
    The source field can contain more than one records.
    When I export it to ms excel then source field is shown in three rows in excel.
    Name
    Source
    Batch No
    ABC
    A0001
    K1
    K2
    K3
    But now I want to export to excel in the following format
    Name
    Source
    Batch No
    ABC
    A0001
    K1
    K2
    K3
    The Name and Batch No field are in Group Header and Source in detail section.
    Also the Source field can vary in number i.e. there can be any number of Source.
    And I only want this type of output when exporting to MS Excel.
    Is there any way to do this?
    Please reply.
    Thanks.

    Try this:
    1) Create a formula with this code and place it on the Details Section:
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar x := x + 1;
    stringvar col1;
    stringvar col2;
    stringvar col3;
    if x = 1 then col1 = {Source}
    else if x = 2 then col2 = {Source}
    else if x = 3 then col3 = {Source};
    2) Create another formula and place this on the Group Header:
    whileprintingrecords;
    numbervar x := 0;
    stringvar col1 := "";
    stringvar col2 := "";
    stringvar col3 := "";
    3) Create three separate formulae - one each for the three Source columns and place these on the Group Footer:
    E.g. for first Source column:
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar col1;
    E.g. for second Source column:
    whileprintingrecords;
    stringvar col2;
    Drag and drop these formulae beside each other on the GF.
    4) Move the 'Name' and 'Batch No.' fields from the Group Header to the Group Footer
    5) Suppress Group Header and the Details Section.

  • Issue while exporting report to excel

    I have a report created using ssrs.
    In that i have set the body background property to an image
    And also set a header in the report
    Now while exporting it to excel, I need to remove the body background  image and header
    Need Help
    Thanks
    Abhinav

    The workaround is to use a parameter that control the hidden properties and image/value properties of the header contents and background image path respectively. We need to place the header contents to a textbox or a rectangle so that the "hidden"
    properties can be set or reset. Similarly for the image path or value properties of body section can be set or reset using expression. I am using external image URL. Refer below step.
    1. Add a parameter "Export". Set the Available values
    as "Specify values" and add the below labels and values.
    Label                                 Value
    Header/Image                    Header/Image
    No Header/Image               No Header/Image
    For Default Values,
    Select Specify values option and add value as "Header/Image". Click Ok to close the parameter properties.
    2. As my header section contains a textbox and wanted to hide while i export, select the textbox properties and set the visibility/hidden expression as, =IIF(Parameters!Export.Value <> "Header/Image", True, False)
    3. Similarly in the report body properties, select the image source option as "External" and set the expression as,
    =IIF(Parameters!Export.Value <> "Header/Image", "" , "http://localhost/Testing/NEW_06.jpg")
    4. Preview the report and select the export parameter option as "No Header/Image".

  • In SSRS , after exporting report in excel,wrap text property for cell and freeze column for SSRS table header not working in Excel

    I am working no one SSRS my table headers are freeze cangrow property is false and my report is working perfect while rendering data on RDL and i want same report after exporting in Excel also , i want my table header to be freeze and wrap text property
    to work after exporting in my report in excel but its not working ,is there any solution ? any patch ? any other XML code for different rendering ?

    Hi Amol,
    According to your description, you find the wrap text property and fix column is not working after exporting into Excel. Right?
    In Reporting Services, when exporting to excel file, it has limitation for textbox.
    Text boxes are rendered within one Excel cell. Font size, font face, decoration, and font style are the only formatting that is supported on individual text within an Excel cell.
    Excel adds a default padding of approximately 3.75 points to the left and right sides of cells. If a text box’s padding settings are less than 3.75 points and is just barely wide enough to accommodate the text, the text may wrap in Excel.
    In this scenario, it supposed to be wrap text unless you merge cells. If cells are merged, word-wrap does not work correctly. If any merged cells exist on a row where a text box is rendered with the
    AutoSize property, autosize will not work. For the Fix Data Property, it can't be working in Excel. These are features when exporting to Excel. We can't change it because it's by design.

  • Header part of Report sectio not exporting well to Excel in IR studio 9.3.1

    Hi All,
    I'm using Hyperion System 9 Interactive Reporting Studio version 9.3.1.0.0.248. System 9 Server is also same version.
    I have a requirement to export the Report section in Excel format and email to the user retaining the format, header, footer etc. in printable format.
    Since direct export to Excel doesn't retain all the formatting, I am exporting to MHTML and then open in Excel.
    After export, the formatting and alignment of the header part is not appearing the way it is designed in Reports section. The Header part appear jumbled or wrapped and not centered. In another reprot, where I have a company logo in the Report Header section, all the items in the Header section appear one after another in different rows in the Excel file, instead of appearing as one banner.
    Any solution for this issue?
    Thanks
    Z

    I have not seen that functionality at all in Report Studio.

  • Workflow for exporting xml from Excel and importing into table in InDesign

    Hello,
    I have worked out how to get data from a .xlsx into a table in InDesign. However, the workflow is still a little clunky and I am looking for way to automate the process further. My current workflow is as follows (files can be download here: http://visual360.co.uk/xml.zip)
    xml is exported from .xlsx by mapping the schema (see what_I_get.xml)
    assign tags to table and individual cells in InDesign
    This is the clunky bit: edit the what_I_get.xml to:
    remove the indentation (this seems necessary as otherwise when I get to stage 4, all the imported text is also indented)
    add tag for table in InDesign (p10_table)
    add tags for individual cells (p10_c11 etc.)
    import the produced what_I_want.xml in the structure panel of InDesign.
    Can anyone point me in the direction of how to automate step 3 above?
    Thanks in advance,
    Nick

    Hi Mike,
    Thanks very much for the reply. I am not at all familiar with XSL/XSLT. I have given it a quick google and it seems like it could be quite a steep learning curve to master. Maybe if I explain the whole context here, it may allow you to point me in the direction of a tutorial that provides a step by step approach to achieve my final goal. Alternatively, you may be able to suggest a whole new workflow.
    I am in the process of updating this document: http://www.ncl.ac.uk/students/insessional/assets/documents/IS_Brochure_2014-15.pdf
    The tables on pages 10-21 contain lots and lots of repeated information. We want the layout to in this format so that each group of students has all the information relevant to them on a single double spread. However, the challenge of using this approach is that it is very high maintenance to ensure the duplicated information is kept in sync - even using a copy / paste approach.
    I was hoping to overcome this by using a single source of data (eg. a spreadsheet) which would then feed into the InDesign. This workflow seems to be overcomplicated by the apparent need to use xml as the "middle-man".
    Ideally, I would like to press the export button in Excel and get this information into the the correct cells in the tables on pages 10-21 without a significant amount of manual labour - after all, my reasons for investigating an automated approach in the first place was to avoid the manual entering of data ie. the scope for error...
    An alternative approach maybe to skip Excel altogether and just use .xml. However, I am not sure that this is possible as Indesign only seems to allow you to import each element once. Maybe you could correct me here...
    I am happy to invest a certain amount of time in developing this approach as once it is in place, it will save a huge of proof-reading time year after year, especially as inconsistencies still persist despite our best efforts to weed them out.
    If you could let me know your thoughts on this and maybe identify a tutorial that would help me, I would be extremely grateful.
    Thanks again!

    "The conversion of certain code pages is not supported"
    Did i miss any step...?
    How to resolve this problem please help me....
    Thanks & Regards
    Sowmya.....

    Hi Sowmya,
    I do had a similar issue, but I avoided that problem temporarily by commenting the following code.
        l_conv_out = cl_abap_conv_out_ce=>create( encoding = 'UTF-8'  ).
    attach the first file
    l_conv_out->convert( exporting data = l_xml_out IMPORTING buffer = l_content  ).
    Once this is done, you can export the data to Excel and open it and see too...But this is a temporary solution only. Implement this solution to get to understand more flaws of this.

  • Naming of Excel sheets or tab in SSRS

    I am making a report in SSRS that will be exported to Excel. It displays data from all departments in organization.
    The first sheet of the report will have a static name for e.g. "Master Report" and it will display data of all departments in single sheet.
    Other sheets will have dynamic name depending on department and will display data of that particular department.
    So it will become something like as shown in picture below.
    I have already made the Master Report and now I want to display those individual department reports but problem is how do I name those sheets? Both these reports will use different data set. If I set the **InitialPageName** property of report to "Master
    Report" then it sets this name for all sheets. If I use an expression for e.g. **=First(Fields!Dept_Title.Value, "ALL_DEPARTMENTS")** then it picks up first department name and then use it for all sheets because as I told above, there are two
    different data sets.
    Using subreport is of no help either because it doesn't show subreports InitialPageName as Excel sheet name and always uses Main reports name.
    How to solve this issue?

    How did you implement the individual department reports?  Do they all have the same layout?  If yes then you can just group the tablix on the Department label field and use that field in the expression for InitialPageName.
    Have a read through following article, it's using that technique: Naming Excel Sheets Dynamically
    [SSRS]
    For a more complicated layout you could nest a subreport inside the tablix.  But complicated
    layouts usually don't export well to Excel (I mean in a practical way for further analysis by using Excel) so be careful with that...

  • Excel export (webui crm -- excel) wrong format of house number

    Hi,
    in an excel export  (webui crm ---> Excel)  is displaying the wrong format.
    If the house number contains a special character such as "/" then the house number displayed in the date format in Excel.
    And if in the field house number is a number and a letter such as "9 a", then the house number is displayed in time format (9:00 am) instead the house number.
    Does anybody know, how can I solve this problem?
    Thank you in adance.
    Best regards, Jasmin

    Hi,
    There is no error from the CRM functionality. If you SAVE the excel,instead of opening it directly and then " open with "
    word pad or notepad, you can see the phone no.s and fax no.s are properly transported to excel.There is a default format setting of
    excel from the Microsoft, so you are getting the default format after opening the excel.
    Steps:
    1.Export to excel.
    2.Choose the BP,PHONE and FAX columns holding the 'CTRL'key.
    3.Right click on the chosen columns and choose "format cells".
    4.Under the tab "number" choose 'number' and and reduce the decimal
    place to '0' and click "OK".
    5.Now you will be able to see the expected format.
    If you are using IE then the excel file that is being generated should be an XML file which would help with the formating issue. But when there is a problem in the generation of the XML file a CSV file is created instead.
    The kind of problems that can cause this could be :
    - Wrong version of Excel (professional needed)
    - Error in encoding (note 1560243 corrects this)
    - Active X Settings on browser are not properly setup or disabled
    - Other problems (some fixed in note 1457261)
    I hope this helps.

  • Missing data when exporting webi to excel (not 65536 limit problem)

    Hi guys
    I just meet a problem about webi that it will miss data when exporting webi to excel.
    It's not about 65536 limitation, as my webi report do some aggregration and limitation and never beyond that limitation.
    Also there are 2 tabs in my reports, if I split the 2 tabs into 2 separate reports and export them separately, then problem disappeared.

  • How to export report to excel and to text file in previewer

    How to export report to excel?
    And, it takes long time for generate report to rtf or pdf file in previewer.
    How to speed up the process? or, it's better generate report to text file directly by Run_product?
    Please help!

    You can generate report to tab delimite format that can be imported to excel.
    As for the performance question, because reports can't specify what format when you run against previewer, so I don't know what previewer you are talking about. Generate to file is always faster than to your application previewer (assume) because you have one more step after output generated in the file: read from file and render it. Depends on the render and size of the output, it may have significant performance difference.

  • IMovie HD or 4.0 sections of movie to individual quicktimes

    Is it possible with the later versions of iMovie to export sections of a completed movie into individual quicktime movies?
    I'm using v3.0 and am wondering if the later versions are capable of this action?
    Or, d I need to get Final Cut....
    -E

    Hi ag:
    Welcome to the discussions!
    You can select the clip or clips on the Timeline you would like to export in imovie 4 or 5. I don't remember for sure, but i don't think you can in iM3)
    *From the File menu, choose Share.
    *Check the box labeled Share Selected Clips Only if you want to export only the clips in the timeline. Do not check this box if you want to export all clips in the Timeline.
    *Export your clip to Quicktime.
    Note: If you do not select any clips in the Timeline, all clips in the Timeline will be exported by default (the Share Selected Clips Only box will be greyed out).

  • Export UWL to Excel

    Hi Experts!
    Is there a way to export the UWL items under each tab (Tasks, Notifications, etc..) to MS Excel?
    Thanks in advance,
    Fede

    Hi Fede,
    I did not find how to add that function in this UWL (with KM notifications),
    but there is a iView, which is used in collaboration rooms, which has the option to export to excel.
    It's in: pcd:portal_content/com.sap.ip.collaboration/TemplateContent/Generic/iViews/com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.ui.uwlCollaboration
    (version EP 7.0 SP12)
    If you use this, you have the option to export to excel, but has task tabs, but not those of notifications of KM.
    I found so far that the alternative to add that function.

  • Issue while exporting report in Excel Format

    Hello,
    I am facing problem while exporting the report in Excel Format. After analysis, I think that it could be due to two reasons, either we are using wrong versions of Jars, or we are using wrong API. Here is the code, approaches and problems we are facing. Please help.
    First approach we are using is:
    // using basic API
    import com.crystaldecisions.reports.sdk.ReportClientDocument;
    // get client document from crystal report API and open the report by specifying the report name, with path
                   ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
                   reportClientDoc.open( reportPath, 0 );
                   // give chance to extending classes to configure the report document by POJO or by sql parameter etc, just adding the parameters infromation using ParameterFieldController
                   configureReportDocument( reportClientDoc, reportMetadata, reportData, reportContext );
                   // get data source of crystal report
                   Object reportSource = reportClientDoc.getReportSource();
                   // export the data - we have also tried with MSExcel format
                   ReportExportFormat exportFormat =  ReportExportFormat.recordToMSExcel;
                   LOGGER.debug( "exportFormat[" + exportFormat + "]" );
                   ByteArrayInputStream byteArray = (ByteArrayInputStream) reportClientDoc.getPrintOutputController().export(
                             exportFormat );
    Problem Faced: Specified Excel format is not supported.
    Second Approach: We come to know that excel format is supported with new releases and with occa package.
    Then we tried with import com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.ReportClientDocument; It ask to set the ReportServer. When we are trying to set the server as
                   reportClientDoc.setReportAppServer(ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString);
    Application is unable to find 'ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString' property. It seems like we are using some old jars. However we have downloaded the latest released jars for eclipse 2.
    Please help for it. Issue is to export the report in excel format, which is currently working fine for PDF. If this problem is related to Jars, please suggest the path to download the latest jars. We also looking for the latest jars like rasapp and rascore etc. But these are not available with Crystal Report for Eclipse 2 release.
    Waiting for urgent help. Thanks you..
