Export Settings from ARD

Question:
What is the best way to export settings/computer lists/tasks from ard? I have tried the File->Export options but i never seams to get everything. Is there a .plist file that will do everything for me? As well would it be possable to make it so I don't have to enter a serial # when ever I move to a different computer? I currently have an os on an external drive that I take with me to different labs and such.
Man I like the way apple discussions look and work. I need to look further into colab services on leopard server.
Thanks!
hum...where is the spell check?

Try copying /Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist to the new computer... you may need to change the permissions of the file though.
I don't know if that will bring over any templates though or not.

  • Help Exporting Settings from CC to CC 2014

Hello, our team, in which everyone is on a Mac OSX 10.7.5 has recently upgraded to AI and PSD CC 2014.  Prior we have been having sync issues with our settings, in which the syncing just not seem to travel between computers.  Our new issue though, is, we are trying to sync all of our personal settings from AI CC to AI CC 2014.  We are exporting our settings from EDIT > MY SETTINGS > EXPORT SETTINGS in CC and then in 2014 we are running the import function, selecting the exported file and all getting the same message "File does not contain valid illustrator settings.  Please select a valid settings file."  Please advise on how we can have our settings travel so we do not need to st up our workspaces again on all computers.  Thanks.

You can manually move the settings files from the old location to the new:
    Workspaces:  ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator 17 Settings/en_US/Workspaces
    Keyboard Shortcuts:  ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator 17 Settings/en_US
The new location would be the same, except "Adobe Illustrator 17 Settings" becomes "Adobe Illustrator 18 Settings".

  • What are highest quality export settings from iMovie to FCE 4.0?

I am using iMovie '08 to create Ken Burns effect movies from iPhoto photos to import into FCE. I want the least amount of loss from iMovie to FCE.
What are the highest quality settings for exporting from iMovie to FCE.
I do not care about size of file etc. Highest quality is all that matters to me.
    Cheers,
    Chuck

    Well here are the facts.
My original question rephrased: "I want to know what are the settings to export Ken Burns created movies (therefore using photos) from iMovie (in this case iMovie '08) with the least loss and regardless of file size for importation into Final Cut Express".
I went to the local Apple store and some of the users (employees) of Final Cut Pro mentioned appropriately they thought .DV would be the best. However when we played some created videos they looked horrible when compared to .MOV with H.264. This just did not make sense, but we went by what we were seeing. Not being able to think with this I did more research and found this article which explained why .DV lookes like pooh pooh compared to H.264 video.
The article http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93002 explains a setting in Quicktime preferences that if not selected some videos appear pixelated.
So, when this preference in Quicktime is selected (never thought to try playing on VLC) the .DV movies look better than those using H.264. So with this resolved then my trial and error testing was realistic. That is I could try different export settings and see which ones looked better to determine the best export setting.
I tried what I thought was everything as far as "Export using Quicktime..." settings. Then I read in "iMovie '08 & iDVD: The Missing Manuals" under "The Video Codecs: A Catalog" an explanation of every type of compression when using the settings under "Movie to QuickTime Movie". Finally someone wrote more data on the codecs. I never found such explanation on the apple website (discussions etc). I really got tired of reading how H.264 is the better than sliced bread "greatest quality for the file size" which I think is true but did nothing to answer my original question. The book then mentioned the option "none". I was like I don't remember this option for "Compression Type". (BTW this all applies to iPhoto '08, Final Cut Express 4, and QuickTime Pro). So I tried "None".
Wow! Zero pixelation! Vivid colors! So I created three videos. One using H.264, DV/DVCPRO - NTSC and None (I had already tried many others but for this last experiment just these three). I also maxed out the Quality for each compressor. Results:
    - H.264 colors looked a little faded from the original photos and minor minor fuzziness, file size about 6 MB
    - DV/DVCPRO - NTSC colors a little more vivid and less fuzziness, file size about 60 MB
    - None...Bam! absolutely photo quality resolution and color, file size about 600 MB. I didn't care about the size.
So, bingo "None" as as the compressor settings in Quicktime to export iMovie '08 Ken Burns effect slide shows for importation into Final Cut Express (FCE) with minimal loss and who cares about the file size. Yeah, this is mammoth file but this allows me to make snappy Extremely High Quality Ken Burns effect videos in iMovie for FCE. Then when I export from FCE I don't make a copy of a copy but make my first compression of the video.
    That is my answer!
I consider this thread closed and will only open if I find any of this is incorrect. BTW I already imported the iMovie '08 video with compression "None" into FCE and after rendering it looks awesome and plays well.

  • Best sequence export settings from FCP7 to use in X

    Hi
I wanted to work with old sequences created in 7 but in X. I know, I know, I could continue in 7 but like working in X and maybe adding newe material. So what would be the best export settings for a sequence to import into X? Simply uncompressed, or one of the ProRes options? How bout audio?

    Thanks, innocentius!
i agree it's a worthy tool, but just for kicks I want to bring in the sequence in some other way because it doesn't need editing, but I'd use bits here and there.
So I'm still wondering how to bring export it closest to it's original quality. I could choose 'none' in the compression settings or maybe one of the ProRes options. Any ideas?

  • Export settings from Server 2012 R2 into Essentials 2012 R2

We are moving from a temp server running Windows Server 2012 R2.
I would like to back up all the server settings from the temp server to the permanent server running Essentials 2012 R2.
Ran 'ldifde -f OUTPUT.LDF' on the temp server but get a validation error when trying to input into Essentials.
Is there an easy way to move the settings from one to the other so that I can plug in the new Essentials server and be up and running?  (have the data part figured out)
    thanks

    To clarify:
İnstall server 2012 r2 Essentials then add as Aditional Domain Controller
Should be "install R2 Essentials as replica domain controller "
(per step 2 of Deploy ... Essentials in existing AD environment)
Final step of that process would be to make it a domain controller
Transfer 5 fsmo roles to Essential server
Should be "Transfer the Five FSMO roles to the new domain controller" (per
    kb/197132)
    The five FSMO roles being:
    Schema master
    Domain naming master
    RID master
    PDC emulator
    Infrastructure master
    (given the link you posted
http://kpytko.pl..., is this step really necessary
or will it happen anyway "during DC decommission process")
Finally demote the temp server from domain
for demoting, the I found this

  • Media Encoder doesn't recognize custom export settings from Premiere Pro CS6

When I use export media in Pr CS6 and use custom settings (H.264) and click Queue when it arrives in Media Encoder none of the custom settings are there, instead it always defaults to .F4V.
Here is a screenshot of custom settings in Pr CS6:
And here is what happens in Media Encoder:
    Thanks for your help!
    Nick

So, it looks like Media Encoder is stuck in a trial version?  The only formats available are indeed .f4v, .flv, .mp3 & h.264.  Is a reinstall of Media Encoder the fix?

  • Export settings from FCP

What export setings have you found the best from FCP to use in DVD Pro. I keep getting a stretched picture on import.

Export a self-contained or reference movie from FCP (File->Export->QuickTime Movie). Include chapter markers (if any) but do NOT recompress all frames.
For best results, use the appropriate DVD preset in Compressor with the exported file to create an MPEG-2 (.m2v) video file and a Dolby Digital (.ac3) audio file.
Import those two files into DVD-SP of authoring and burning.

  • Export Settings from FCP to iDVD

Can I export a timeline that is NTSC-DV using QT to 8-bit uncompressed? will it improve the quality of the titles?
They look awful when I export them in "current settings"

I know. It's just that I'd have to render 46 minutes of video to go along with it, which is a HUGE file and amount of time.
I never had such Title issues. Does it have to do with the new quicktime?

  • Export settings from FCP for viewing on a PC?

Hi, I need to export a FCP sequence so that it can be played from a clients PC hooked up to a screen.
I've tried H.264 but there's a massive loss of quality in the result. Am I missing a setting? The Pro Res export looks perfect but I understand this wont play on a PC and as the file's going to be passed around I wont be able to install anything on the end users PC.
New to AV so would be grateful for any help.
    Thanks

How are you exporting h264?  There are bunch of very useful presets in compressor that can deliver excellent quality.  First off, I think you need to make sure that the pc user has quicktime installed.  If you can't controll what's installed on the pc, I would purchase one of the flip4mac options which will allow you to export a wmv which will open on any pc (I think).  Sorenson Squeeze also offers wmv export options (I think).

  • Web export settings from FCXpress? What works best?

Hey there all who are willing to help!
I am making a video blog for my family through the holidays and am shooting the videos with iMovie '06's iSight video capture. Doing this, I have found, saves the video as .mov files which I then import into FCXpress and begin editing. I am only limiting the videos to a 4 min limit but they tend to come out either too big a file size (I'm shooting for 13MB tops) or too choppy for my satisfaction no matter what setting I use. I have settled for the preset Broadband- Medium but have been unhappy with the 320x240 resolution. I prefer a bigger res but every time I adjust it the file size, of course, hops up numerically too.
I understand iSight's .mov files are only containers for the actual codec: Apple Photo - JPEG, in a 640x480 res.
What have you used? What works best?
-How do movie companies make 2-minute trailers in AMAZING quality? H.264? What else?

One reason professional companies produce high quality video is because they don't shoot it with an iSight camera.
Another is that they don't limit the size to 320x240.
Broadband High is the minimum quality you should be using, and if you want reasonable results you will have to accept larger file sizes.

  • Export settings to iDVD from Quicktime

Okay here I go, In iMovie 09 when I pick Quicktime export MPEG-4, video format H.264-1280x720. than import to iDVD, than burn from iDVD will the movie remain it's export settings from Quicktime as I stated above or do the settings get override by another format settings from iDVD 09.

iDVD can accept and "transcode" a number of video formats into mpeg-2. But DVD players need video presented in a standard format, so iDVD's output (onto a DVD) is mpeg-2. My suggestion is to minimize the number of video format changes and go straight from iMovie to iDVD without exporting to a different format.

  • FCE to DVD (Export Settings)

I am now looking to export my movie to iDVD (will include chapter markers)
Movie is filmed in HD 16:9 ratio.
Can anyone give me ideal export settings from FCE?
    Thanks,
    Doug

    File>Export>QuickTime Movie (NOT QT CONVERSION).
Deselect the "Make Movie Self-contained" box and save it.
Then drag the file into iDVD.

  • Recommened export settings to youtube

What do you recommend as the best export settings from premiere pro cs6 to youtube?  I'm finding that when I upload to youtube, the lightings is considerably lower and the sound is moved up 2-3 frames.  Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Export settings for best quality for pages with letters etc.

Hi, I am trying to make video of a musical piece, featuring the score of the piece with pages turning following the progression of the music. I made the video in Adobe After Effects CS5 and exported it so it would be lossless. The video itself is a .mov file and looks great when I view it in Quicktime, but when I import it into FCE the quality goes down a bit. I don't know if FCE is handling the clips correctly or if it's just for making it quicker to view. Any suggestions on export settings from FCE for best quality of a video of this nature, so that the notes are clearly readable.
    Thanks in advance
Ps. It has to be in a format suitable for Youtube.

Under "Sequence" and in "Settings" and in the tab "Render Control" I have: Frame Rate: 100% Resolution: 100%.
If that is what you were referring to... but under the tab which is called RT and is located left of the timeline and left of the timecode. There I have checked : Safe RT, (Playback Video Quality) Dynamic, (Playback Frame Rate) High.
There might be a way to import the clip in better quality (so it doesn't downgrade the quality).
Was mostly trying to find out with the export but it might have something to do with this.
    Thanks
