Export to excel - edit iqy file

Hi,
When you export a list you get a iqy file with all the the columns. Is it possible to local save the iqy file and to edit this iqy file so that you can add a column with a formula?
What I would like to do is, I have a list with ID and the created by column. Now, for this list, we need to have the created by as name + firstname and not firstname + name.
This is why I need to create a third column. I have the formula that I can use in excel. But how to use it in the iqy file?
An example of the export would be:
ID
Created by
switch names
1
Paul Smith
Smith Paul
2
Jan Owen
Owen Jan
3
An Blake
Blake An
Is this possible?

Sorry, I misunderstood your question.
You could still achieve this using a view, but you would need to create an extra column in the SharePoint list (a calculated column) for storing the value of the "name + firstname", and add that column to the view.
To my knowledge it isn't possible to create new virtual columns by editing the query file.

  • Ssrs 2008 export to excel and csv file

In a ssrs 2008 report, the user will export data to PDF, excel, and CSV files. When the report is exported to excel or csv file, the user wants me to hide some tablixes. Thus can you show me code on how to export the reports to csv or excel file without
and be able to hide a few tablixes?

    Hi jazz_dog,
According to your description, you want to set the visibility for some tablixes based on the exporting file type. Right?
In Reporting Services 2008, we don't have any parameter to get type of exporting file. So we can only create a parameter and select a type before exporting to a file. Then use conditional expression to control the visibility. It's definitely not a good workaround,
so your goal can't be achieved in Reporting Services 2008. However, for Reporting Service 2008R2 or later version, we have a build-in parameter called Render Format Name, this parameter will display the type of exporting file automatically. So we can make
the judgment in expression based on the value of this parameter.

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Exporting to Excel - ALV Grid

    Dear Experts,
I have come across a strange scenarion where in the "Export to Excel" functionality from an ALV grid behaves differently for different layout selections.
for eg: I have my output list with 10 fields displayed. If I export the list to the excel using the button from the application tool bar of the grid, my output excel is having only the column headings without any values. Where in say, if i select all the fields of the output list (around 20), then the output is perfect into the excel.
Kindly let me know what would be the problem and how to handle them.
    Lots of rewards awaiting.
    Thanks.

    Hi Arunkumar,
Some time export to excel through Local file-->spreadsheet option behave abnormally.
You can do one thing as you have all your data in internal table.
Add a button " Export to excel" in Menu painter and use following code in subroutine user_command
      CALL METHOD CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>FILE_SAVE_DIALOG
        EXPORTING
          DEFAULT_EXTENSION = 'XLS'
          DEFAULT_FILE_NAME = L_FILE_NAME
        CHANGING
          FILENAME          = L_FILENAME
          PATH              = L_PATH
          FULLPATH          = L_FULLPATH.

  • Exporting to Excel options

Hi there guys, this is my first post and i wasn't too sure where to put it.
Basically i am trying export a report, CJ74 (if that helps) to an excel spreadsheet. I used to get options when i exported to excel about what file type i wanted it to be exported to, however now it is defaulted to a .htm option.
How do i get all the options back? Is there a way to reset the options?
    Cheers
    Ajay

Whne using the CJ74 form i used a variant to get the data i wanted. Then when i ran the excel export, it would list the details in the a set format.
I sued to get a dialog box with two radio buttons: Excel (in MHTML format) and All Avaiable formats. I selected the first by accident and now it defaults to it.
All i want is the Dialog biox back so i can choose the correct option.
    Any ideas?

  • How to export the text edit data to excel file without splitting the data in excel file?

how to export the text edit data to excel file without splitting the data in excel file?
I have a requirement in SAP HR where in the appraiser can add comments in the area given and can export that to excel file. Currently the file is getting exported but the comments getting split into deifferent rows.
I want the entire comment to be fit in one row.
    Please help.
    Thank you

    Hi,
if your text edit value is stored in 'lv_string' variable.
then before exporting the value to excel you have to remove CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>NEWLINE
that is '#' from the variable lv_string.
for that use code some thing like this.
REPLACE ALL OCCURRENCES OF CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>NEWLINE in lv_string WITH space.
I think this will do the trick.

  • Why does Apple say that Numbers can open and save Excel files, when in actuality, it can only open .XLSX files and only Export to Excel (not save-as excel)?

When attempting to open .XLS files in Numbers, the format is not recognized. When the format is .XLSX, the format is recognized. Why is it this way? It's still much more common for folks to have the .XLS file format on their excel files. Why would Numbers not be backwards-compatible?
Additionally, to state in the benefits of this program that one can save to 'Excel' is a little misleading. You can't save to anything except .numbers. Sure, you can export to Excel (with file extension .XLS, I might add), but you can't save or save-as.
Does anyone else see the irony in being able to export to .XLS but not be able to open an .XLS?
There is something to be said for clarity.
You can't expect folks to have Numbers and Excel on their systems, so how else are they supposed to open .XLS files in Numbers?
And I don't need to see another advertisement for NeoOffice or OpenOffice here, thanks. I'd actually like Numbers to be a little more sensible.
    That is all.

When the advertisements were written, there was no Lion so we were able to Save As Excel.
At thiqs time there is no longer Save As command under Lion but the feature is always available.
When your editing task is ended, you are free to use this scheme:
    File > Duplicate
File > Save and in the dialog you will have the option save as Excel.
Numbers isn't and I hope that it will not become an Excel editor.
Its resources contain a flag defining it this way.
I posted several times a script editing this resource.
This morning I'm not in a mood allowing me to do your duty.

  • Date Modified Date/Time Issues on Files Exported to Excel

    Hello -
I am using Crystal Reports XI, Release 2 and Visual Studio 2005 Enterprise Edition for my ASP.NET application.
    CrystalReports dll version : 11.5.3700.0
    .NET Framework 2.0.50727
I use the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument to export a report to Excel (ExportFormatType.Excel).
When you view the exported file in Excel 2007 (just open and close it, making no changes), the Date Modified date of the file changes to whatever date/time the file was last viewed.  I have also noticed this same behavior when exporting to Excel from Crystal, using a vendor desktop application that is written in C++ and uses Crystal XI.
Does anyone else experience this issue and have a resolution?
Edited by: Meg Thickman on Feb 3, 2009 8:59 AM

    Hi Meg,
Just to clarify did you mean viewing the PDF?:
"Why would/should the file system date change merely by viewing the report?"
Our exported files are not linked to the master RPT file.
As I indicated the XLS file is likely in an older format and Excel is detecting and updating something which the file system then detects a change and updates the date stamp. Or excel is writing something back to the file. Did you notice if the file size changed or possibly the byte hash?
This is not something we are going to be able change. For compatability reasons we cannot stop Excel from updating the file.
As a work around add the Data Date field to your reports and your auditors can use that as the reference. It will reflect the actual date and time the report was run. Or use Excel API's to update the file format once the report has been exported in your code. You may also want to check with Microsoft to see if it's an option in Excel not to update the format or possibly a registry key to disable the option.
    Thanks again
    Don

  • Unable to export data from Web Access Data Sheet in Sharepoint to local excel or access file

    Greetings and good morning.
I'm going to start off in broad terms with this question because I'm not 100 percent sure what information to provide.
Long story short, we've got a Web Access Data Sheet list hosted in a Sharepoint 2010 environment. It is accessed and used by multiple people throughout the day. It contains several thousand line item entries. I'd call it a large data sheet.
I think the size of the data sheet is casuign some instability in the list. I'd like to be able to export a defined range of data from the list into a local excel or access file. After that, I'd delete the stuff on the Access list to improve performance.
But...when I attempt to use the Sharepoint Action bar to export - Excel locks up/crashes. If I try to export to Access, I get a similar issue.
Any ideas? Could anyone begin by telling me what other information is required?

    Hi,
If you would like to export data from Access Web Database in SharePoint 2010, you could go to Design With Access page in Settings. The url in my environment is http://sp/tt/_layouts/accsrv/ModifyApplication.aspx . Then choose the Table and export it to Excel
    or Modify it in Access.

  • Export to Excel and Save as Static File

    Hello all,
When I export to excel from SharePoint 2013, and save the file, the data remains dynamic in that if I update the list in SharePoint it will update the data in Excel. This is great and I use it in a few places, but I also need to capture a point in time and
save the exported Excel file as static data (i.e. Export to Excel, and Save as the Q3 Report). How can I save the file as static/remove the dynamic link so I just have the data at the time of export?
    Thanks!
    K.

    Hi Kelly,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to export to excel as a static file.
In SharePoint, when you export list to excel, it works as a one-way sync. It can sync data from SharePoint to Excel. If you don’t want to sync the data from SharePoint, you can copy the data from the exported excel file to a new excel, then save the new
    excel file.

  • RDL reports(2008).File name after using Export to Excel is not comming properly in mozilla firefox.

I am using Export to Excel functionality in rdl report.
File name should be "Profitabilty By Buyer". It is working as expected in IE and chrome.
But in mozilla firefox the file name appears as "Profitabilty".
So the issue is it doesnt consider anything after space and user requirement is such that I cant put underscore("_") also instead of space.
    Kindly suggest the proper solution.

    Hi Mukesh,
Reporting Services, we use a Web browser to view the report that deploy to Report Service. However, not all report functionally is supported by all browsers. Such as, the print button is not supported in Mozilla Firefox. It works only in Internet Explorer
due to it uses ActiveX for the print button.
I have tested it on my local environment, (SQL Server Reporting Services 2008, Firefox 28.0), we cannot reproduce this issue. So the issue can be the custom setting of your browser. Since SSRS reports are not about targeting NON-IE browsers, so in your scenario,
we recommend you use IE to view report on Report Manager.
And you said that you cannot put underscore ("_") also instead of space. However we can do this which you can see on the screenshot below.

  • Export to Excel - File Name WAD 7.0

    Hi All,
I am using Export to Excel Functionality with WAD 7.0 to export the report to excel format.
I have used button web item, with an excel picture above it. The functionality works fine.
But while exporting the name of excel file shown is WAD 7.0 name.
ex. My WAD 7.0 name is IFIOP_C07_W700, the excel file also gets saved in this name.
I want it to be made customizable.
    Can you throw some pointers.
    Thanks,
