Export To Excel problem with HSSFWorkbook
Hi all,
In a webdynpro application, we are writing data from webdynpro context to excel sheet using HSSFWorkbook. Below is the code
This works fine when there are only 500 to 600 records .But if there are more than 500-600 records excel gets corrupted and error message is displayed.
While going through different forum I found this is due to encoding. When I comment the for loop in code below, problem doesnu2019t exists any more.Even 10000 records are successfully displayed.
Please guide :
How encoding is causing this problem and how can I rectify this?
What exactly this code (code in bold in below code snippet ) is checking ?
What will be effect if I remove this code as this webdynpro application is used in many countries ?
public byte[] exportFile() throws Exception{
InputStream stream = new ByteArrayInputStream(xslSource);
HSSFWorkbook workbook = new HSSFWorkbook(stream);
stream.close();
process(workbook,true);
ByteArrayOutputStream bos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
workbook.write(bos);
byte[] retorno = bos.toByteArray();
for(int c=1;c<retorno.length-1;c++){
if(retorno[c-1]==0 && retorno[c]==-125 && retorno[c+1]==1){
retorno[c]=(byte)3;
}else if(retorno[c-1]==63 && retorno[c]==67 && retorno[c+1]!=0){
retorno[c]=(byte)35;
bos.close();
return retorno;

Export to Excel - Problem with extra rows
Hi have a report that has 3 groups. I suppress the group headers and am using the group footers for totals.
When I export to excel, I get extra rows in the excel file for the suppressed sections. How can I get rid of these?
Thanks,
LindaI can use this to get out additional rows on my excel export. However, in the columns, I usually put some distance between each column so the columns won't run together. This is giving me extra columns. It would be much easier if I did not have to put that distance. Is there a way to format the field to have a leading or trailing space so all the fields don't run together on the report?
example:
field1
field2
field 3
if all these fields have data the output would look like:
field1datafield2datafield3data
how can I make it look like:
field1data field2data field3data -

Somebody is having this problem?Hi,
May i know what is the challenge you are facing?
Check with another file.
You can try with different browser as well.

Hi All
I have a problem with exporting a ALV Grid to Excel. If I add the quantity field to my Grid output the excel spreadsheet does not bring through the quantity field and it puts all the other columns one place out. I tried changing field attributes from QUAN to CHAR field and it made no difference.
I am using the standard sap functionality:
List > Save > Local File > Spreadsheet
It works fine as long as I do not include my quantity column? I have tried many other custom FM's with no luck because all of them require you to put in a internal table inside the function but I do not want to send whole internal table to spreadsheet only the ones selected in the ALV Grid. So please do not suggest function modules as I have had no luck with these!
I need to know how to use the standard sap alv export to excel function with my quantity field? The only issue I can think of that would cause a error would be that I have 50+ columns on the grid and internal table. Even If I put quantity field by itself in the grid then export to excel it brings through the Qty header but no data.Hi Atish

Template having export to excel functionality with filter values in WAD
Hi,
I need to create a template which has export to excel functionality with all the filter values that the user has selected in the selection screen.
export to excel can be done but how can be the output excel sheet contain only those values which we see in browser when the report is executed with some filters.
Regards,
ApekshaHi Apeksha,
you can achieve this requirement (unless I do not know the detailled requirement) perhaps by using this way of implementation:
1. Create a new template which contains an info_field which does a data binding to the variable values or the characteristic you want to display. Set the visibility of the top container to "hidden". Add a empty data provider to this template. However be aware that the name for the (empty) data provider must match the name of the data provider within the original template you want to print.
2. Open your original template and include the template you created in step 1 (Advanced: Web Templates and technical name of the web template created in step 2). Choose the appropriate location (above/below the analysis item).
3. Check the settings of your export command: do not set a special web item to be printed.
If you export the template within web the second template should be printed correctly displaying the variable settings chosen in step 2 for the info_field.

Ssrs report export to excel along with parameter filters
HI,
In ssrs reports export to excel along with parameter filters,is it possible or not?
Could you please help me..
induHi Sriindu,
According to your description, you want to export the report into an excel file with the report parameter and filters. And you want to filter data in excel. Right?
In Reporting Services, the components for exporting report into a file called Reporting Services Rendering Extension. There are three types of Reporting Services rendering extensions: Data Render Extension,
Soft page-break renderer extensions, Hard page-break rendering extensions. All these three extension are only for rendering data. It can't keep the filters and parameter in the report. Also excel can't support Reporting Services filter in
an excel file. So your requirement can't be achieved.

The error message is: Data could not be sent to Microsoft Excel. Please ensure you have a properly licensed version of Microsoft Excel. See attachment.
We have checked our version of Microsoft Office, it is Professional Plus and has the correct volume license so it does not revert to a home or student version.
I have been able to use the Export to Excel function directly from the Dataview when I was using one of the waveform tutorials supplied with Signal Express so I suspect it is a function of the SMU.
In conversations with an NI support engineer he felt it may be a problem with "an active x call is just not seeing the license for some reason", his suggestion is to drag the data into Excel rather than use the Data view tab. Because the SMU is being used in a production environment it is not really appropriate to have the operator work at this level so I would rather figure a way to have the data exported using the Data View tab.
Anyway please can you let me know if there are any known work around for this issue.
Thank youCalvin1957,

Post Author: Preethig
CA Forum: Exporting
Crystal Reports were designed using the Seagate Crystal Reports Developer Version 8.5.3.975.The reports does designed are published in the Seagate Crystal Enterprise 8.0.2.6725 across the web.
When we try to the export these reports to excel from the Crystal report viewer of the Crystal Enterprise it throws up an error" The export format 'U2FXLS:5' is not supported. [on Page Server : <webserver>.pageserver]."
The webserver as the Following ConfigurationWindows Terminal Edition - Windows 2000Service Pack 4.Seagate Crystal Enterprise 8.0.2.6725
The Client system on which the "Export to Excel" is performed has the following Configuration.Windows XP Professional Operating SystemService Pack - SP2.Excel 2002 (10.2614.2625).
We have tried uninstalling the Crystal Enterprise 8.0.We have also checked for the u2fxls.dll and Crxf_xls.dll in the C:/ <% system Root%> /Crystal.
Kindly help us to figure out the problem. It has been working fine for quite long and flawed only recently.
Thank You in advance.

Cyril,
Thank You For your tip. But the problem of export To excel could be solved after I renamed the Crxf_xls.dll in the <%System root%> /Crystal folder which allowed the dll U2fxls.dll to Excel export work just as fine as explained in the Knowledge Base of Bussiness Object.
Thank you

Funny with an Excel file with many sheets (14) on my 17" MacBook Pro, using Mail, if I click on the Excel file to open it, all I get a sheet however all the data does not display in the Excel file.
However if I take the same file and drag it to my desktop, letting it create a new file then open the file all the data is in the Excel spread sheet.
Just wondering if any one else is having a problem with Excel, Mail, & Mt Lion?
thank you for any reply JohnI've upgraded to Leopard and also have had difficulty printing in excel (using Office for Mac 2004 Student/Teacher Ed)....Word, Powerpoint, and Entourage all print fine.....and I print fine off the internet and in Apple iWork (Numbers, Pages) and in "Mail" . REally strange.....
I am able to open files in excel, but cannot print them....
I'm a former PC guy.....very set in my ways (I was) until I bought my wife an iMac G5 last year, before Intel came out. Anyway....she loved the Mac so when my Laptop hard drive fried, I decide to take the plunge and am I glad i did......
I'm frustrated about this glitch with excel in Leopard....but for those of us who have attempted to (and succeeded) upgrade Microsoft Operating systems (though you never really succeed....Microsoft just keeps fixing things...with new patches or new service packs!).....well you know what I mean....upgrading to Leopard was a breeze.....I just wish I could figure out this problem with printing in excel!
I would drop excel and just use "Numbers", but I work with all PC users (using various versions of Office) so I need to make sure they can open my "Numbers and Pages" files and even amend them if needed,...which I don't know they can do??????? i know I just jumped subjects here...but anyone have any thoughts on this too?
To summarize:
1. problems printing in excel with Leopard upgrade on macbook.
2. can PC users with Office 2004 (I don't think any use the new 2007)....open my files from email if I generate them with Numbers or Pages?
Thanks,

Export Release Build - Problem with Server Settings
Hello, i have a big problem and i searched the whole day yesterday but didnt found an answer...
I started a Flex Mobile and PHP Project. The Project has a Data/Services included wich loads some customer from a database (sql)... for the first a
used Zend and try it local (http://localhost and used the htdocs Folder of Zend)... EVERYTHING WORKS PRETTY FINE... so NOW my problem
I wanted to export this project to a release build for my android phone... so the first warning of Flash Builder ist that the project ist currently configured to access data services from a local url. Before exporting the application, you may need to deploy your services to a remote server, then change the server root URL for your project. Click here to change server settings.
When i click the button i get the server setting.
Web root: C:\Program Files (x86)\Zend\Apache2\htdocs
Root URL: http://localhost
whe i change it now i get an eror:"The selected web root folder does not exist (i attached i screenshot of it).
i entered de domain of my server (i also tried the ip) at Root URL. And i think there ist a problem with the Web root...? i get scaryi know WHY Flashbuilder tells me that i have to change the setting when i deploy on the device
my problem ist that i got this error...
and the domain wich i have in the screenshot should only explain how i tried it...
i entered my server url (the real domain) and i entered the folder "app" wich i have created via ftp on my server...
BUT i also get this error (lik in the screenshot)
i think at ROOT URL i cant make lot mistakes .... http://myserver.de or the ip
but i think maybe my web root ist incorrect? i entered here the folder wich is directliy on my server...?
i dont know exactly but i got an error like in the screen -
Export to Excel - data with leading zeros
Does anyone have any tips or tricks for running a query then exporting to Excel without dropping leading zeros from the data?
Examples: numeric Item codes with leading zeros, telephone numbers that have been entered with no spaces.
Regards,
Douglas McDove< Font Color="RED" Size = 3 Face=Verdana>
I liked the challenge and therefore.......I got this for you
</Font>
SELECT CHAR(28) + T0.CardCode [BP Code\] FROM [dbo\].[OCRD\] T0
SELECT CHAR(29) + T0.CardCode [BP Code\] FROM [dbo\].[OCRD\] T0
SELECT CHAR(30) + T0.CardCode [BP Code\] FROM [dbo\].[OCRD\] T0
SELECT CHAR(31) + T0.CardCode [BP Code\] FROM [dbo\].[OCRD\] T0
Any of the above 4 should work. T0.CardCode is the database field I tested, you can substitute this with any database field and it should work.

Export to Excel Problem external DC using Web Dynpro binary cache
Hallo,
I want to export from Web Dynpro to Excel. For this I study the Tutorial "Excel Export Using the Web Dynpro Binary Cache".
The example is running without a problem.
I have create a new DC only for excel export. The name is ExcelExportWD. In this DC I create a Component and programmed the methods of the example. Also I create the View and the Context for it.
This DC is used in other DCs. I put the Component to the public part. After than I make the entry in the used DCs in that DC which I want to use the Excel export. I use the DC ExcelExportWD in the DC ContactsWD.
The ContactsWD is running without a problem.
If I try now to export to Excel I got the following error.
<b>com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.api.WDDispatcherException: Requested deployable object 'mgi.de/portalscmContactsWD' and application 'ResultGetContacts.xls' are not deployed on the server. Please check the used URL.</b>
In the View of the ExcelExport the name of file is not visible in the URL of the ExcelFileName. The name "ResultGetContacts.xls" is the name of the node which I want to export.
What is wrong? I have try to set a Sharing reference in the ContactWD without success.
An idea ?

Export to Excel - WAD with 2 tabs
Hello
I've got a WAD with a container which contains 2 tabs
Container 1 is linked to the first tab
Container 2 is linked to a second tab.
There is one query on each tab.
When we export to Excel one tab, Excel shows technical ID of the WAD.
Is there a possibility to display title of the tab instead of WAD techincal ID ?
Thanks & Regards
CatherineHi Catherine,
This is a Tricky question.......
Let say you have placed Container1(which has some data) under Tab1 and Container2 under Tab2 and Export to Excel.
Now if you perform Export to Excel for Container1 data,then the data will be exported into Excel where the name of the tab(Tab1) won't be displayed as a worksheet name in Excel.It will always show Name of the Web Template and not the tab name.
So whatever you seen is as expected.You can't export a web template which has multiple tabs into Excel with the same way as it shown in web.
Hope this clarifies you.

VizzHi Amer,
There is a web item 'Menu bar' available in WAD 7.0.
There, you can set the Action (Command Triggered) (ACTION) property to Export Web Application and achieve the functionality of exporting to excel.
For more details, see this..

Export from ALV to Excel - problem with numeric values
hi folks,
when exporting from alv to excel and we have negative values (and using an u.s.a. setting where . and , are different to r/3) negetive values are not shown correctly in excel.
when changing in win nt the regional settings to europe one's (e.g. germany) everything works fine.
any hints welcome,
kind regards
oliverI guess this has something to do with the excel settings. In the control panel you have regional settings.try some options there. It might work.
