Export to Swf (how do I insert a stop action in IND)?

So I've exported the swf's. But when they come up (in a pop-up window) on my site, all I see is a grey screen. I right click and and unclick "play" and then they appear.
I assumed, from reading other posts people have posted that I needed to insert a stop action. Can anyone tell me if this is possible to do in IND CS4?
I don't have CS4-Flash, I have CS3_Flash. I do have CS4 IND, so if I could insert a stop action here I would do so. Anyone know how to go about doing so? And will this fix my problem?

I wanted to use a special character in an email; I used to do it but had forgotten how. I figured it out:
Place the cursor where you want to special character to be.
Open the special characters page and drag the symbol to where you want it to appear. Then double click on the symbol, and voilé the character appears. At that point you can print as many special characters as you want without dragging them first, just double click on them.

Write back - how OBIEE decides insert or update action ?

I have a question regarding write-back.
I have both an insert and update statement in my template file.
I want to give the users ability to insert new rows and update existing ones.
I am able to do both, but sometimes the insert/update behavior is not consistent. That is, instead of updating the record, it creates a new row itself in the database (and sometimes the reverse also is true).
Anyone has ideas on how OBIEE decides whether it is an insert or update action?

How to succsefully insert a "stop on this frame" code in ActionScript 3

I am attempting to modify an FLV video file to have it stop looping. I launched FlashPro in Action Script 3, imported the file to be modified, applied the "stop on this frame" code on the last frame, but it still loops or goes back to the first frame. Perhaps I am using the wrong approach. Any help/suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Ok,.. it keeps crashing while debugging. I could not move the curser to the last frame (5,255 or so) so I selected a frame in the range I could see under the movie (frame 625) and made it a key frame, them edited it with the stop(); command. then I ran the debug to see if it stops at the designated frame.
It keeps crashing while trying to debug. Incidentally, if I do -nothing- after importing the movie and just "test movie", it stops on the last frame and shows that last frame. The reason I am doing this is because web browsers apparently default to "loop" unless the user viewing the website intentionally deselects "loop" to cause it to stop looping. I was told that flash would be a solution. I believe it likely is/will be, but it may be unreasonable to assume that could do it that easily having little knowledge of the flash program. I plan to learn how to really use it (read the docs, go through tutorials, etc., but I needed a "quick fix" for something that is already uploaded to a website and only needs to have the "loop" feature disabled or forced to stop via flash code etc. This was thoroughly explained before optioning the $1,500.00 package (I needed to upgrade all my cs3 anyway) - I'll try again tomorrow after reinstalling in case that is the problem.

Using Sound and Movies
You can add audio—a music file, a playlist from your iTunes library, or any other sound file—to a Pages document. You can add video that plays within a page.
Pages accepts any QuickTime or iTunes file type, including the following:
MOV
MP3
MPEG-4
AIFF
AAC
Also note that some media files are protected under copyright law. Some downloaded music may be played only on the computer where the download occurred. Make sure the computer you are using has permission to play all the media files included in your document.
When you add media files to your document, make sure that they will be available if you transfer your document to another computer. When saving your document, make sure the option “Copy audio and movies into document” is selected in the Save window. (If you don’t see the option, click the button next to the Save field to display the entire Save window, and then click the Advanced Options disclosure triangle.)

How to use DPS features like Folio Overlays while exporting to SWF?

I'm creating an interactive magazine in InDesign, it's been decided that the magazine will be exported to SWF and uploaded to our company website for viewing by the public. I want things like slideshows and scrollabe text frames. I saw that InDesign had an update to include some DPS features like the Folio Overlays, so I applied a Slideshow overlay and a Scrollable Frame overlay but neither of them seem to work after I export to SWF. I still want to have slideshows and scrollable frames, how can I still have them while exporting to SWF?

DPS is for mobile devices through Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite. The reason SWF is dead is because it’s pretty much incompatible with mobile devices. If you want to go to the web and keep things interactive you really need to be looking HTML5 / CSS3 type of websites. In5, which I mentioned in my earlier response will give you quite bit of help in going from InDesign to web, but I would strongly suggest you take a look at Muse if you’re not comfortable with HTML and CSS.

How can I insert chapters in my idvd slideshow?

I am making a slideshow for a family event, marking different times in my couin's life. How can I insert chapters marking different pictures from various milestones? (i.e. birth, growing up, etc.) Is it even possible to do that?

Are you building this slidesshow from still photos in iDVD or in another app and exporting it into iDVD?
If you're building the slideshow in iDVD from stills each still is a chapter and you can't have just the few chapters you'd like.
If you build the slideshow in iMovie you can add chapter markers at the milestone photos.
As Bengt mentioned iMovie HD 6 is best for end quality. When you get the movie exactly as you want it all you need to do is close iMovie and drag the project file into iDVD as shown in the video screenshot below:

That will avoid iMovie encoding the movie and then iDVD reecoding it which will lessen the quality.
If you add your chapter markers in the current iMovie version and export to Media Browser or to a folder inside your Movie folder you can drag it into iDVD from the Media Browser (which, I learned from Bengt, gives the highest qualtiy) and it will bring with it the chapters.
If you export the movie not to the Media Browser but to the Movie folder the movie must be located in a subfolder of the Movie folder for the Media Browser to recognize it.
As long as you have chapters added to your video file and iDVD's preferences are set to include chapters all you need to do is drag the video file into iDVD and it will automatically create a Scene Selection menu with the chapters.

Can you export a SWF in photoshop CS5 or CS6?

I have a client that has provided me SWF files that swear were exported from Photoshop, I know that this could be done in earlier versions. if so then how can this be done in CS5 or CS6. I have access to both.

To my knowledge, the ability to export as .swf was removed after CS3. Do you know what version of Photoshop your client was using?

Exporting to SWF

I'm new to AE, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. But I would really appreciate some help.
How can I convert 12 second .mov loop with transparency into a 15 second .swf with a transparent background for use in an Adobe Captivate project?
What I've tried so far has resulted in either a 12 second swf clip with transparency or a 15 second avi clip without transparency. As a newbie, I'm only using the trial version of AE for the moment. I realize it has limited codecs, so perhaps that's the problem. I think, however, it's far more likely that the problem is my limited knowledge.
Here's what I've tried (unsuccessfully) so far:
1. Created a new Composition with a Duration of 0;00;15;00 with a white background.
2. Imported my .mov file with a setting of Premultiplied Alpha Channel.
3. Brought 2 copies of the file to the stage and aligned them end-to-end on the timeline so that I filled the entire 15 seconds.
4. Exported as .swf.
This works great for giving me a transparent swf. However, the length is only 12 seconds--the length of the original clip. I can't get the full 15 seconds.
I've also tried rendering it as an .avi that I can convert to a flv or a swf. This works great for getting me the full 15 seconds, but not only does it not have transparancy but the flv causes problems within Adobe Captivate because of the way the program loads the clip.
What am I doing wrong?

It sounds like you may have inadvertantly set your original clip to export and not your 15-second-long comp. If the comp is 15 seconds in length, the resulting export should be as well. Another thing to check would be to make sure your work area is the entire length of the comp.

There isn't currently a way to insert something like that in Reflow, so your best best is to export the code from Reflow, then edit it in another tool such as Dreamweaver to add the extra content.

Exporting to SWF: embed SWFs on pages?

Hi there
I've been experimenting with the export to SWF option in ID CS4. I was hoping I'd be able to place individual SWFs on each page of my ID document and then export the whole document as a sinlge SWF, giving me a nicely interactive publication. The SWFs that I've placed on the pages don't play in the final document, though.
Any ideas about fixing this?
I've looked at all the Movie Options for the SWFs that I've placed and the options available at export and nothing seems to have helped.
I'd appreciate any thoughts.

I was hoping to take advantage of InDesign's page transitions to present the SWFs, but it looks like I may have to work out how to do it all in Flash instead.
I do a lot of Flash work but have only briefly experimented with the ID exporter, so there could be something I'm missing. I'm guessing to get what you are after to work will be difficult depending on your ActionScript skills. Unfortunately when you export an fla, the fla does not include the transition code—your pages get placed sequentially on the timeline with no transitions. There is the bitmap representation of the swf and it wouldn't take much to load your swfs into position, but you'll have to build your own page flip transitions.

Exporting to SWF - interactive indesign documents

Ok so I have been playing around again with the idea of producing some interactive wire frames using indesign and exporting to swf. I have a global nav at the top that is working just fine. I also have some links futher down the page, and that's where the problem is.
Let's say I have a link called 'Map' half way down the page. It's a long page around 4000 px. So let's say the 'Map' link 2000 px down the page. When I click on the link it takes be to the map page, but postions me at 2000 pixles down the page. Not at the top of the page where I want to be.
I have had a play around with the Zoom drop down but I am not having any success.
I don't want to export to pdf as I want to be able to set target pages for the links with in indesign, and not have to mess around in acrobat after (potentialy This document will have a tonne of pages).
Anyone got any ideas (please)

Indesign CS4 - Export to SWF and font issue

Hello,
How do you embed a font in an Indesign CS4 document when you are going to export it to an SWF file?
I have an Indesign CS4 document that uses a particular font. This document is then exported to an SWF file which is then uploaded in our intranet website. When users view the internal website, the SWF font uses a different font like Times New Romans. I do not get this issue because I have the particular font used in that document installed on my machine.
Are there any work arounds for this issue other than distributing the font used in that exported SWF file?

InDesign should embedd fonts by default when exported to swf... may be you have some protected font in use? do you have problems with other fonts too? Quick and dirty workaround is convert your text to outlines... not good one but fast...

Weblinks work within preview but not once exported to swf

As the title states really. I've set up button with weblinks and they work fine fromt he preview page, bt once exported to swf they no longer work. Is there a limit to how long they can be? Do I need something like tinyurl?

Flash CS 5.5 - best settings when exporting to .swf to reach widest audience?

Hi Flash experts!
I am a 2D illustrator and am relatively new to Flash (and love it!) and want to add some simple Flash animations (using my illustration) to my portfolio website. But I am having issues when exporting to .swf - I have emailed on examples of work to friends and colleagues to view (and check) and most have trouble opening the .swf files. In fact most can't open them at all! Is this more to do with your average (probably a pc user) person not having an up to date Flash player or to do with my settings when exporting?
Can anyone advise me on how to best export to .swf to ensure the majority of people can open and play the file? Is this a problem just for a newby like me or a wider issue you Flash superstars deal with?

It may just be that they do not have a standalone Flash player to play the file. Your better bet is to plant the swf on a web page and send the link to the page instead of the file(s).

SWF is not a video format. That is why the Flash Video (FLV and F4V) formats exist.
The are very inefficient ways of making SWF behave in some ways like a video format, such as creating a SWF file that uses a sequence of JPEG or PNG image frames, but such files are enormous and have other problems. After Effects has this option, which was created before Flash Video (F4V and FLV) formats were invented, but that does not mean that a modern video encoder like AME should add this very obsolete feature.
The way that people create video for Flash Player is to create F4V or FLV files. You can embed or link those in a SWF file using Flash Professional.
