I've used this for very basic PDF creation in ASP:

  • Captivate 8 : the PDF export created a file with a PDF extension.. but it's actually a video. Shouldn't it export the slides as a proper PDF document ?

In Adobe Captivate, there is a "PDF export" checkbox available when you publish your project.
It checked the box, and the project pulication created a file with a PDF extension.. but it's actually a video. Shouldn't it export the slides as a proper PDF document ?

Thanks for the quick answer. I did not know about interactive PDFs..
I just found how to export as a Word document. I would have expected to find that option in "Publish" or "Export", not "Print".. Anyway, I now have what I needed

  • Export form results to pre-formatted Word or PDF email

I am new to this forum and new to Dreamweaver 8 and I have a question.
Here is what I want to achieve, using on online form:
    My salesman inputs his client's name, address etc.;
    The salesman selects the products or services that his client is interested in;
    Some of the items selected need to be named, so he has a field where he can type in the name;
Once the salesman has entered all of the client's order (or quote), he hits submit.
Now here is where it goes over my head.
The results of the order, as typed in, are exported to a Word document, which has been pre-formatted with our colors, logo, etc. The finished product is a professional-looking document that can serve as either a proposal or an agreement.
The document is automatically emailed to the client, and can be printed right from the client's computer. Instant good-looking document.
Am I dreaming? Can this be done in Dreamweaver or using another prodcut that you might know about?

It's possible, but speaking from experience it is not a path that I would recommend a business to take.  Here's the reasoning behind this.  While it is good to make these nice looking quotes and other documents, are you planning on storing the information in a database or in some way that would be accessible to your invoicing system (or are you building the invoicing system? if so that is a completely different beast).  Having these are nice, but if the quoting system is separate from the invoicing system, it is a path that most businesses, and especially sales people, want to avoid.  It would be creating an extra unnecessary steps in their process.
My suggestion to you would be that you if have the programming experience and want to undertake the job go for it.  Dreamweaver won't program this for you though.  So if you don't have the experience there are plenty of invoicing/quoting/sales solutions out there for .NET, PHP or whatever programming language you wish to use.  Off the top of my head for PHP, SugarCRM comes to mind.  I am pretty sure they have some invoicing modules, plus it is a CRM so your sales people can keep track of who they meet.

  • CMC is exporting an extra page in my PDF document???

    Hi -
I have the SAP Business Objects Central Management Console and I am exporting a PDF document. When it exports the document, as a PDF, it's giving me an extra page and it's blank. I am trying to rid the extra page. How can I do that.
When I export the document as a PDF directly from Crystal Reports 8 it doesn't give me the extra blank page, which is what I am looking for.
Please help or direct me to the right place.
    Thanks.

I searched in SMP and found a lot of SAP KBAs addressing such issue. Please check if any of those are applicable to you :
1472427 - Blank pages are added when viewing in page mode or exporting to PDF for Web Intelligence document
1322489 - A blank page is displayed In PDF Export of a webi.
1779856 - Exporting Crystal report to PDF generates multiple blank pages.
1217039 - Exporting a report to PDF creates extra blank pages
There are more. Please check in SMP.

  • Formatting .pdf documents with digital signature block

I have created a 2007 MS Access database that exports reports to .pdf format. The reports look great and all works well. The issue I have now is finding a way to automatically apply to a signature block to the reports after they are created. Is there some sort of code format or text I can add to the report prior to it being exported to a .pdf file where Adobe will recognize it as a digital signature block, and create a digital signature block on the form? Several of these forms will be created daily and it would not be productive to manually add signature blocks to every single report.

  • How-to get Font weight information while reading a PDF document

    Hello everyone
it seems that the available tools to read PDF documents from Java don't allow to get font weight informations about the tokens read from PDF.
I need to know if a character is bold in order to recognize if it could be part of a paragraph's title.
is there a way to keep this information? (now I'm using PDFBox but it seems to allow only to get the PDF content as plain text, without keeping this kind of font weight info...)
    thanks sincerely a lot
to anyone who would be so kind to help me
    ;)

I've already read the wiki and the examples about iText, and also the two free tutorial chapters, but it seems iText doesn't allow to check the font character of a pre-existing PDF document,,it only allows to create document with a specified font but this is not what I needWell, to tell you the truth, I don't do much with PDF, myself, I only believe (from anecdotal evidence) that iText is much better than PDFBox. Have you downloaded it and tried a few things, or just read some of the docu? I am fairly sure that if you designate a font, there is probably a way to retreive this font as well, although not necessarily. Download it and play around a bit.

  • How to export multiple indd files to individual PDF's?

Is there a way without using scripting, to simply take, say 10 single indesign files (all just single 3.5x2 business card layouts) and export them to a pre-defined PDF preset resulting in 10 single PDF's? (other than one at a time?)
I tried a few things from Acrobat 9 pro, one of them being File/export/export multiple files/  thinking that must be the ticket, but
    1) I can't find my pre-defined PDF preset in the "export to dropdown list" (but thats secondary, probably can add that in somehow, right?) and
    2) even when I just pick PDF/a or PDF/x it starts the process, then tries to open each indd doc but a message comes up saying it can't open the INDD  file(s) and nothing was processed.
Can someone help me with this?
    Thank you.

    Macinbytes,
Would you mind walking me through what you are doing?
In your screen shot, that window looks like the preferences panel, in which you can set your PDF preset, correct?
Here's what I have been trying.
    File/Create PDF/Batch Create Multiple files.
Eventually, I get this window. (output options)
Then when I hit OK, I get this error message saying the files cannot be opened.

  • CI versus Non CI PDF documents

is there a way to determine a CI versus Non-CI format PDF document without having to open it first? Ie is this information in the file tag? If so how is it read or queried from the file system?
    Using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 standard

Never heard the term before - love to know where it comes from.
However, to answer your question...No, there is no way to tell without opening the PDF up AND looking at each page. since it's possible that some pages have been OCR'd, but others have not.

  • Archiving the PDF Document in Documentum

    Hi All,
I am using WFS6.2 and there is a requirement that the forms after the final workflow process need to be archived in to Documentum. I am planning to have a ASP and from there the PDF documents are created in the Documentum programatically. There is a sample application avaialble in http://www.dmdeveloper.com/samplecode/dfcasp.html. I am not able to login to Documentum through the sample application avaialble. Did anybody tried using this application or do you have any code snippets to achieve this?
    Thanks and Regards,

  • PC users cannot open my Pages-exported PDF documents

Has anyone encountered this? When I want to give someone a PDF, I need to export it from Pages, choose "Open with Adobe Reader," and then re-save from Reader as a different name. (If I just export from Pages, some PC users cannot open it.) When I look at the file information for these two supposed PDFs, the one that's only exported from Pages says "Portable Document Format (PDF)" and the one opened and resaved with Reader says "Adobe PDF Document." What's going on here? Is there a reason my PC friends can't open a Pages-generated PDF?

Thanks for the suggestions. Funny, when I changed the "Open With" selection inside the "File Info" box to tell it to use Reader, it it still tells me in the "General" information section that it's a "Portable Document Format (PDF)", but it does replace the "Preview" icon in the upper left with the Adobe logo. Only the version that I physically opened with Reader and re-saved lists the "Kind" of document as an "Adobe PDF Document". Wacky.
Regarding the extension, when I exported from Pages, the "Hide Extension" box was unchecked in the "Save" window, yet the file's PDF extension is in fact hidden (and the "File Info" box also says it's hidden). What's up with that? Grr.
Seems like a small bug--now I just have to get some PC-using friends to let me know which ones they can open! Thanks for your (tres rapide) help guys!

  • Export song library to PDF document Mac vs Windows

I have used iTunes under OSX and Windows and a feature that I cannot find under OSX is the ability to export my whole song library to a PDF document. In Windows I did this and it automatically created a PDF document nicely formatted with the album cover images where available and sorted by artist order. Under OSX, I can only export songlists to a txt file and it is very difficult to read.
Is this function only available on Windows or was it phased out of the iTunes app? (I used this feature quite some time ago - approx 2 years, about v.4.5at a guess)
    Any assistance appreciated.
    Regards

    Hello Kellabrations.
You will be happy to know this CAN be done in OSX.
Select your Library from the Source List in iTunes. Make sure that ALL is seen in the window.
Then just PRINT (Either from drop-down or Command-P) Select "Song Listing" and "Save as PDF".
This will make a PDF of the library for you. You can also select a single track in the library list, then do a Command-A (or Select All from pull-down) and Copy then Paste into a spreadsheet, or where ever you need.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can I convert PDF documents to Pages or other formats?

Can a PDF Document be converted to pages or other format like RTF, Text, ETC.

Have you tried the File ➙ Export To menu in Pages for some format options?

  • What would be the best Adobe Product option for me if I only need it to be able to convert PDF documents to Excel Format?

Hello, I'm hoping to pick everyone's brain about which Adobe Acrobat Product / License I would need if the only Function I require is the ability to convert PDF documents to Excel format. This would not include Scanned documents.

Only you can decide what is a "best fit".
PDF content export to Excel can be performed by Acrobat XI or either of Adobe's online subscription services "ExportPDF" or "PDF Pack".
    Be well...
