Exporting flash with alpha to video

We would like to export a character animation from flash with
an alpha channel, then import into final cut pro and key charcter
anim over live video. I that possible? If so, a detailed
explanation how please. We've tried numerous exports from Flash 8
.... alpha doesn't show.
thanks,

If Final Cut supports keying, you could set the background
of your FLA
file to blue or green, then key out the background. I use
that technique
with Premiere fairly often.

  • Export movie with alpha to png sequence

I'm trying to export tweened animation to .png image sequence
    with alpha transparency.
The individual png files appear to be clean -- but when I
open the file sequence in QuickTime, it looses the 8-bit alpha.
Anyone know how to get around this? Thanks!

MCs are dynamic and designed to play at runtime in the flash
player - to export to video you simply
need to convert them to Graphic symbols.

  • After-Effects to FCP - Best format to use to export clip with alpha channel ?

    Hello All;
I have created a 10 second video in After-Effects that I want to use in FCP. It seems that I am unable to render out to a Quicktime movie with both the video and the alpha channel (I can only render to one or the other). Could you tell me the best method to get a short video from AE to FCP ? What is the best format to use in AE ? Thanks.
    Tim

Animation codec with colors set to Millions +. The plus is your Alpha channel.
If you have FCS 2009 you can also export to Pro Res 4444.

  • Can KN3 export flash with sound?

I'm working on a presentation in KN2 and I need to export a .swf file with sound on each slide. I know I can export to Quicktime with sound, but I'm working with another company that only accepts a .swf files.
Is this fixed in KN3? Any suggestions on how to solve this in KN2?
      Mac OS X (10.4.4)

ok, I just bought KN3. Opened my KN2 file that has narration on each slide. Saved it in KN3. Exported to Flash with sound.
However at the end I got a error box. "The following problems occurred while trying save document. Export Warning- A media file in slide 1 was not exported" This error occurred with all of my slides.
My audio files were recorded in Quicktime 7.0 Pro as "mov". Should the audio files be saved as a different format for Exporting to Flash?
Can "kworley" let me know the audio format that worked?

  • Opacity level changing when exporting text with alpha

    Hello,
I am hoping someone can shed some light on what is happening with my opacity levels when exporting text with an alpha.  I have animated text where some words are black at 50% opacity and some words are white at full opacity.  They are on a textured background.  I need to give the other editors a version of the text married to the background and one that is just text with an alpha.  When I export it and bring it into Premiere, the "married" version looks fine, but the black in the version of the text with alpha appears more transparent.  I can fix this by changing the blend mode to Hard Light or Luminosity, but this alters the color of the white text slightly (and I should note that the blend mode in AE was normal).  I can of course work around this by exporting my black and white text separately, but I was hoping someone might know why this is happening.
I am working on AE CC (ver12) and Premiere CC (ver7)
    Thank you!

    Rick, I am judging visually.
I have since taken the cue from Mylenium, and I think the problem has to do with the fact that AE's default opacity is not linear and Premiere's is.  When I change the sequence settings of Premiere and uncheck "Composite in Linear Color" the blacks of my clips match.  Similarly when I change my Project Settings in AE and check "Linearize Working Space" the blacks appear lighter as they did when with the text only clip in Premiere.  Since I am working with other editors that are using Premiere, I assume I should change the settings in After Effects to match Premiere (linear).  Unless there is any reason I shouldn't do that?
    Thank you,
    -Keri

  • Motion tracking and exporting layers with the background video

Is it possible to apply the motion tracking data to a new object in a new layer and then output, or export, that layer as an overlay plane (or perhaps in the alpha channel) so that the new object can be interactive (perhaps in a flash swf format)?
I would like to create an interactive layer of objects (created through motion tracking) above a background video layer.
Is After Effects the right tool for this job?

You are severely oversimplifying the matter. Interaction means establishing rules and this in turn requires programming. Ergo, you absolutely cannot avoid Flash and ActionScript. You can certainly do the tracking in AE and then use CS4's "Export to Flash" feature to get the raw setup into Flash, but the work doesn't stop there. For older versions of AE you will need alternate ways to import the tracking data, e.g. by ways of text files, but really, this is much more a Flash topic than one for the AE community, so better ask your questions there.

  • Best Codec for exporting animations with alpha channel from FCP timeline

Whats the best codec for exporting animations (hopefully using loseless compression) that will retain alpha channel, and use the current sequence settings for fps and size?
Currently Im exporting image sequences, but I'd prefer a wrapper.. I don't know much about the 'Animation' export codec.. I did notice that set to current size had some funky value of 753x450 or something.. instead of my current project size of 1920x1080...
Anyhow.. Just seeing what others are doing..
basically Im reading out some titles that I'll end up dropping over video later.. but since they render out so slowly (**** lower 3rds is slow) Im trying to get a jump on the process..
    Tx..

PNG should do it. I think PNG is lossless (that's what they say, anyway). But realistically, if you use PNG, Animation, or JPG2000 set on highest quality, I'd dare you to tell a difference.
I use PNG because it's supposedly lossless, renders twice as fast as Animation in a FCP timeline, and is usually about half the size.
If you use "Export Using Quicktime Conversion", you will need to check all of the settings manually to make sure they match your sequence settings. This is always true, no matter what codec you use.
If that sounds risky, your other option is to go into your sequence settings and change the codec to the one you want to render to (this will probably turn your whole timeline red), and then choose Export -> Quicktime movie.

  • Exporting Quicktime with alpha channel

    Hi,
I'm currently editing a piece full of talking heads that will eventually be converted to flash to be used on a website. The heads were shot on DVCPRO 50 on green screen and keyed using advant edge. I am using DVCPRO 50 timelines. I need to export quicktime movies including the aplha channel so that the resulting flash movies (which are to be encoded by another company) appear without the background on the website. When I look at my files on the screen they appear over the checkerboard background. I exported using animation codec set to million of colors +. Just as a test to see if that would work I encoded a flash movie from the quicktime file using the new Flash 8 "encode alpha channel" option. When I viewed the file it was over a black background. As a further check I imported the quicktime movie I had made into a new sequence set to animation millions +. It also appeared over a black background. Did I lose my alpha channel somehow? When I view the format info on the quicktime file, it lists the alpha channel as being "straight", which I assume means that an alpha channel is present. Can anyone help me out?
G5 Quad PPC   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   2 GB Ram, Aja Card

OK I changed the sequence settings to animation millions + (as they were previously set to DVCPRO 50). When I did this all of the files became unrendered, which was the desired effect. I exported a 5 second piece animation millions +. It had a black background in quicktime, but when I imported the quicktime movie into flash encoder my subject appeared over the white default flash background. We have a winner! Now my only problem lies in export times. It took nearly 8 minutes on my quad to export that 5 second clip, and I have 34 clips that are at least 30 seconds apiece. I think I'm best off setting uyp a batch export to run over the weekend. Thanks again for all the help guys! I would have never figured out that the files had to remain unrendered in order for this to work.

  • Exported clip with alpha - no setting produces composited output

    1. launch Motion v3
    2. choose any resolution / media preset
    3. put some scrolling text into a layer
    4. export the clip out as H.264, 8bit color, +alpha (this info from Motion itself)
    5. import the clip into FCP v 6
    6. bring into any simple slideshow, composite text over slides
    7. render - no compositing
    8. cmd-9 change alpha properties to any of the other three (default is to none) = still no compositing

H.264 does NOT allow for alpha channel on export. You need to select a codec capable of embedding the alpha channel.
You should not be editing H.264 in FCP anyway. It's a web delivery codec, not an editing one.
your easiest solution is to import the Motion project file into FCP and add it to your sequence like a clip. Transparency will be observed without any exporting necessary.
In addition, you can open the clip in editor to make changes to the Motion project which will be updated in FCP as soon as you save.

  • VIDEO WITH ALPHA

How do I insert a video in flash with alpha ?
I have a Video inside Final Cut with croma key.
How Can I take this video inside Flash ?
I tried to export the video as a bitmap sequence
(PNGs with alpha) after that I imported those files
into a Movie Clip in Flash... It works fine to me,
anyway I am wondering if this is the best way to
do that... I am wondering if flash accept some
    video file with alpha inside.
Somebody knows someting about that ?

  • No Method of Batch Export for Clips with Alpha Channels?

    Good morning,
As many a flustered editor has eventually discovered, in order for FCP to export sequences with alpha channels to a 32-bit format, the timeline has to be un-rendered at the time of export, or else the transparent parts will appear black in the outputted file. This sort-of makes sense if you know how FCP and render files work, but in a perfect world I think I'd have designed the export interface a bit differently. Now that I think about it, I'm actually working in an Animation (Millions of Colors +) sequence, so converting transparent areas to black makes no logical sense at all.
Anyway, I have several sequences that I would like to export as 32-bit TGA QuickTime files, preserving their transparency. If I Export Using Compressor, the process results in pre-rendering of the sequence, turning the transparent areas black. The same problem occurs if I export QuickTime reference movies from FCP and open them directly with Compressor.
Does anyone know of a way to avoid this silly phenomenon or am I stuck individually exporting each sequence from FCP, one...at.......a................time?
    Thanks,
    Zap

Thanks, Andy, "Batch Export" eventually did the trick!
I forgot about that tool because I've never actually had to use it before! After playing around with it for a while, I found that as long as the sequence settings for each sequence in the batch are set to a codec with an activated alpha channel, it works just fine.
    Thanks again,
    Zap

  • Exporting a move clip with alpha channel

    Hi there,
I’m trying to export a move clips with alpha channel.
I’m trying to export an animation with Premiere CS5. I made an animation of a rotating object in Maya and exported it with alpha channel as tiff images. Then they are edited with Photoshop to give them a drop shadow.
My problem is this. Can I export this tiff animation with the alpha channel?
My plane is to use move clips over backgrounds in a game – depending on the result there are different animations playing on top of several different backgrounds. There for the objects has to have a transparent/alpha channel over the backgrounds.
Again the reason for this is the complexity of the game and to make the game looking as real as possible. I’m hoping for some help here to make my plan possible
    …thanks

    Thanks alot for the help.
But now I’m wondering how to get the file size down?
The 32bit and alpha channel just increase the file size from about 1MB to 9,3MB, which is pretty much??
    …any ides mate?

  • Flash with No audio from Keynote3 - I work O6

So anybody having success with exporting flash with audio. I've tried audio files of every format except .wav. Haven't figured out how to turn an aif file into a wave file yet. Nothing works. I keep getting the message that audio was not imported. The qt that I made is nearly 100GB and way to big, but the audio is there as expected.
    Help please

iTunes can do it. Set the MP3 compression settings in the advanced tab of the prefs. Then either pull your music into iTunes, click on a song and choose to convert it from Advanced menu, or do what I do and make an Automator script that I simply drag my files onto. It rips them to mp3 as it imports them into iTunes, so I don't end up with copies of AIFs in my library.

  • Export as Quicktime Video - with alpha

I'm having trouble figuring out how to export an animation
I've created in Flash as a Quicktime Video with transparent (alpha
channel) background. My client wants to import it into Final Cut
and have it play over a video track.
I've used the "export movie" feature in flash with the
following settings. (I have Quicktime Pro installed.)
Format: 32 bit color (alpha channel)
    Compressor: Animation
    Quality Default setting
    Sound 44Hz
Maybe there's nothing wrong with my export settings... maybe
I need to specify a layer in my flash movie as the alpha channel? I
can't find any documentation to help!
    Anyone have a clue?
    See an example-->
    http://www.element-group.net/brini/trans_vertical.html
The white background will need to me transparent to reveal
    the video track.
    Thanks,

I forgot to say that making the Flash track transparent is an
    intermediate step.
After that, import the .mov to Final Cut.
QuickTIme can only support Flash content of Flash 5 and
    under.
Do you realize that QuickTime 7.1.3 has "Enable Flash" off by
default. To see Flash tracks in QT player or browser plug-in, you
now have to open the QT Preferences or settings, click Advanced Tab
    and check "Enable Flash".
However, if you just want to get Flash content as an
animation in Final Cut, here is a good article that helped me do
    it.

  • Export PNG images with alpha channel from flash

    Hi,
I have this FLA with animation and when played, the animation has alpha channel. I can’t understand why when I look in the library I see the frames without the alpha channel and also when I try to export/extract the image again the image don’t have alpha channel.
How is it that in flash this image has alpha channel and how to get it out like that into PNG?
Here is the link to download the FLA:
    http://download759.mediafire.com/nb749r29220g/e0636ab0ru6ouoa/Untitled-1.fla

"when played, the animation has alpha channel"
how are you playing the animation? control/enter in Flash, Publishing to a Web page or what?
How can you tell that the animation has the alpha channel? What exactly are you seeing?
What is the aniimation? a series of images, one image moving? Are teweens imvolved?
" when I try to export/extract the image again the image don’t have alpha channel"
How are you exporting the image? is it a single image? or a series of frames that makes up an animation?
What was the file format of the original image? you brought that image into Flash and animated it? Now you want to export as a .png with transparency?
Have you ever tried to export a  simple .png before so that you see and understand the dialog box that pops up during export? are you chosing "24 bit with alpha channel" in the "Colors" choice?
For those of us who may not want to download your file, please provide a more detailed describtion of everything related to this question.
    Best wishes,
