Exporting for BBC Online Delivery?  H.264 - 1080i50

Hi,
Really need this question answered ASAP as I'm supposed to be delivering an edit.  I've been given the following [http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/commissioning/site/Essential_Clip_Deliverables.pdf ] export criteria to follow but I can't for the life of me make Premiere do that.
You can see the export settings by following the link but I'll just type them here as well.
Container format:
> .mp4 or .mov
Video:
> Bit rate / Quality: 30Mbps CBR minimum
> Codec: H.264
> Frame size: 1920x1080 (square pixels)
> Scan type: 50i (as broadcast standard)
Audio:
> Codec: AAC
> Channels: Stereo
> Bit rate: 320kbps
> Sample rate: 48 KHz
> Sample depth: 24bit
Every time I try and enter those settings I get an error message saying "Invalid framesize/ framerate for this level. Please lower the video bounds or frame rate, or increase the Profile and Level and try again".  I've tried changing the level but have yet to find a combination that works.  The closest I have come is to have Level set to 4.2, Frame Rate to 50, Resolution to 1920x1080, but then Field Order is grayed out and stuck on Progressive when I want it to be interlaced.
I'm sure there must be a way of doing this otherwise it wouldn't be the BBC's specification, but I can't figure it out and really need some help.
Would really appreciate any support people could offer on this one.
Thanks,
Jamie

I read that as
H264 1080i 25 fps preset
50 interlaced frames in PAL is 25fps. that they are calling 50i

  • Exporting for Web Download (QT H.264)?

I want to email a clip to someone. I am editing an HDV 1080i60 project. When I export using Compressor the QT file comes out 4:3. I want to export 16:9. I don't see how I ensure 16:9 in Compressor.
What process should I follow to get the highest quality movie; with the correct aspect ratio?
    Many thanks!

    Hi:
Visit this Compressor thread and just change the final size to what you want:

  • Export for web - H.264

    Hi,
I've got the trial version of Premiere Elements 8. I need to export  videos withH.264 for a website. In the trial version, there's only possible to export video for youtube. The way to export the video via adobe ftp isn't suitable for me because there's no H.264 compression. I'd like to buy Adobe Premiere Elements but I would like to know, how it's with H.264.
Thank you very much for your answers.
    Iva

    Thank you.
Sorry, I 've forgotten to say that I would like to make a HD video for web, use the H.264 compression..
You recommended me to go to Share/Personal Computer/Phones and Portable Devices and choose the iPhone setting, but there's a frame size 640x480.
Second way - go to Share/Personal Computer/MOV and use the H.264 compression - there's a problem that the trial version didn't have that choice of MOV,  you can choose for example H 264  1920x1080i 25 but the size of exported video reaches 150 MB.
I would like to make HD video for web with H.264 compression which can be viewed in Flow Player.
Thank you very much and sorry for not fullz specified questions.

  • Online order cut off times for next day delivery

what is the latest time I can order off your web site for next day delivery?thanks

For all waiting on your preorders- I preordered mine Sept. 5th about 5 hours after the announcement (engraved, standard shipping). It was shipped Sept. 19th and was delivered to my house at 10am today (Sept. 20th), despite having an estimated delivery date of Sept. 21st. As noted in another post, they seem to be coming out of Kunshan, China and then Shanghai and Anchorage, Alaska. Mine might have arrived a day early because Indianapolis is a major FedEx hub and there is a direct flight from Anchorage to Indy. Suspect many will get their Touch models today and tomorrow.

  • Exporting project for Utube, online video streaming

obviously i need to take a class in this subject...soo many options now for streaming.
on U-tube i'll see videos posted that look so smooth, not so pixley as mine.....
i eventually started posting most of my clips on mypace, with their video players being smoother, more 'natural'. i'm aware that u-tube uses a kind of Flash program that makes theirs play in the way they do....but some folks have obviously learned how to post clips (usually being professionals and major studios backing them) and look just dandy.
    suggestions??
(and if i should post under the discussion topic of "Compressor" let me know.)

I know this type of question gets asked often so you might try a search here.

And remember that those studio clips that look so good started out on 35 film looking much better than what you likely started out with.

  • Best export for flash video

I have completed an edit of a 7 minute teaser for a feature film and need to export it to be displayed online in a flash player. The footage is HD 1080i, 29.97fps and edited in the Animation coded. My experience with best exports for flash conversion is very limited so please bare with with.
    1) Is it possible to export directly from FCP to a flash file? If yes, would that be a good idea, or should I use third party softwares for better results?
    2) Which third party softwares are recommended for flash conversion? And what export compression should I use in FCP for best flash conversion results?
    3) Any other tips and tricks to get the best quality for flash video display?
Any help would obviously be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

When I have quality HD video that I want to export for flash, I compress it with h.264 codec. Then, with the new version of Flash, you can swap out the .mp4 extension for .f4v and your good to go in Flash. Quality looks pretty good at a fraction of the file size.

  • URGENT - FCP exporting for UK broadcast

    Hi everyone,
I have a really urgent question that I'm hoping someone in the know can answer - it concerns exporting PAL 16:9 video (with audio) from FCP, in such a format/compression that is acceptable for UK broadcast.
I have recently started a video production business, and we've just been asked (at short notice) to film & export footage for broadcast on regional news in the UK (it only broadcasts in SD - so we've filmed in SD. It's going out on the BBC and ITV). It was filmed on a Canon XH-A1s, and the audio was recorded with a Rode NTG-2. We've got it all shot, captured and edited, and we now need to render it out.
Thing is, we're faced with so many compression options, we don't know which one to choose! We've only ever really used H.264 .mov for web/YouTube videos, so we're totally new to the concept of exporting for broadcast. I assume it needs to be as uncompressed/high quality as possible? Or is there something totally different I should be thinking about?
If someone can please do me a huge favour by providing the correct export settings for this situation, I would love you forever. Also, would the same principle apple if the footage is in HD, or would it require different settings?
    Many, many thanks in advance.
    - Josh.

Here are the settings required by ITV if you're going to FTP your media ... or DVCAM tape?
    1) Windows Media Video v9 (.wmv)
    Bit Rate 4Mb/s
    720 x 576
    25F PAL
    Lower Field First
    Windows Media Audio v9

  • Exporting for Web Usage

Hi. I have no doubt this has been discussed, but am hoping I can get a more concrete answer. I would like to export some shorts to put on my web site. I know there is a balance to be struck between quality and file size, but the choices that can be made with settings leaves me confused.
I am using the latest version of Final Cut Studio Pro. What are best settings based on people's experience to export for web usage? This would ideally be a quicktime file in the end.
    Thanks.

I usually use Sorenson 3, quarter screen size and they usually come out pretty manageable. I would use the H.264 codec but I want to be sure all who come to my site and view the Quicktimes and some people don't have QT v.7 yet.
Allow me a shameless plug as well: http://www.scottsimmons.tv/
If you look at any clips on my site and save them as a quicktime movie, then open them an playback in Quicktime player, you can hit command + i and see the movie info where you can see exact specs on each clip. That can give you an idea of quality and file size. It's really an imperfect science.

  • Exporting for web on CS4

Can any one help? I am currently creating video using CS4 for an online world and using a compressor seperatly before uploading the video but i wondered if it was possible to export a video using CS4 straight for web use. compressed but not pixelated and a relatitvely low file size (15mb for 2-3min videos?!) i would like to speed up the process and have better looking video and not have to use the external compressor. Look forward to hearing back from anybody!

    Welcome to the forum.
Exporting for the Web is often dependent on the method of playback that the Web page's designer has used.
My first stop would be with the designer, as they can tell you what their page requires. Might be FLV for an embedded Flash player, or MOV (or variant) for an embedded QT player. That will point you in the right direction.
    Good luck,

  • Quicktime Export for web

i have exported a video for web using quicktime and when i try to upload it, i wont play... i have the video uploaded (the actual .mov) but i dont upload another file that is exported (the .m4v) because is like 200MB and the .mov is only 4KB. how can i make the player on the web, play the .mov file instead of the .m4v? hope u understand... Thanks in advance.

How to make it smaller in file size than your original 5.5 GB file?
You just did when you used the "Export for Web" feature and it was reduced to 200 MB's in file size.
200 MB's is still much too large for Web use as your viewers will not wait for your file to download.
Break up your 25 minute "masterpiece" into 5 minute "chunks" or compress it further by using:
Export > Movie to QuickTime Movie
Reduce the data rate, file dimensions and choose H.264 video codec and AAC audio. Forget "stereo" to reduce that part of the file. Reduce dimensions to reduce the video part of the file size. Cut the "frame rate" by 50% to make even a smaller file size. Your Web viewers will probably not notice.
Do some tests with a one minute sample file to learn what works best for your file. Compare the new exports (side by side) by using the "Play All Movies" feature of QuickTime Pro.
After a few sample exports you'll quickly see which data rate, frame rate and video compression codec works best for your file.

  • Best video file type to export for iPod?

Am using Premiere to edit movies, and was wondering what is best file format to export for eventual iPod conversion to get the best quality?

I am not familiar with Premiere, but below are the limits which are supported:
    H.264 video up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats;
MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
H.264 will give the best quality and smallest file sizes, but the price of this is time, H.264 conversion is time consuming as it is very processor intense.

  • Exporting for Windows Media Player?

I work on a Mac and am switching from FCP. In FCP the option was to export as QT or h.264. I'm noticing in CS5.5 on a Mac that there is no .WMV option.
    1. Is .WMV not used anymore?
    2. What is the best format to export for Windows users?
    Thanks.

    Hi Jim,
post your exact export options (screen capture of the AME gui video, audio & multiplexer tabs will suffice) - I'll have a look for you.
MP4[h.264 + pcm] or MP4[h.264 + aac] etc should absolutely play on Windows 7 (and Vista?). Now if it's Windows XP then yes I don't think h.264 is supported as a video codec and it also doesn't understand the MP4 container.
!tip! if you bring up WMP->Help->About then click on the bottom "Technical Support Information" you'll get a page showing all the codecs WMP has to work with.
eg here is my virgin work computer (windows 7) that plays mp4[h.264] just fine...

  • Export each chapter as one H.264 file

    Hi friends
I´ve made a project in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 (using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits). The length of the project is about 2 hours.
I´ve already divided the timeline into 20 chapters (in order to use in Encore when creating the DVD or Blu-Ray).
Now I´d like to publish a copy of this project to Youtube. But 2 hours is too length for one video. I thought I could separate the project into it´s 20 chapters. So I upload to youtube 20 files...the chapters.
My question is: Is there any way to order Adobe Premiere to export each chapter as one H.264 file suitable for Youtube (using the Youtube Widescreen HD preset)?
What´s the best way to do it?
    Thank you for the help
    Best Regards
    Gustavo.

    Gustavo,
There are three ways that a Reply gets the Correct, and Helpful answers, and two are almost the same.
The OP can make those assignments, so long as they had originally marked their post as a question. This can be done at any time, and is greatly encouraged, as it help the Adobe Forum Team. See this article: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1058744?tstart=30 Also, there is the often overlooked "Was this helpful? Yes No," that helps in gathering data. I do not think that those contribute to a poster's "points," but do help the Adobe Forum Team determine how well the forums are working. Anyone can mark those, and I encourage anyone, coming to a thread, to take a moment, and do that, especially if a Reply helped them too. Those can be marked, regardless of the Correct, or Helpful marks, and go into a slightly different database.
A MOD, with MOD privileges in that particular Forum, can mark Replies. Also, one might have MOD privileges in one Forum, but not others.
An Adobe Administrator, with full privileges can mark Replies.
Usually a MOD will not do that marking, while a thread is active, but perhaps with the push to get data for the Adobe Forum Team, a MOD, knowing that the answers were correct, did the marking? That is but a guess.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Trying to export a movie compressed with H.264 out of AE

I am having some issues with exporting a movie compressed with H.264. I am using AE CS3. When I output with the settings of this image:
    http://intuitionusa.com/ae.gif
I get an error message that is below in the image.  I have to leave Quicktime in the top settings in the output module and then select H.264 in the format button.  It allows me to render out, but a message appears saying it is better to select H.264 from the "format" dialog box.
    * Also, when I export out to H.264 the file size is much larger than just using quicktime pro.  I think it might be better to export an uncompressed file from AE and then use QT pro to compress but that is going to use up a lot of disc space.
    SHoutzager

You're probably getting that error because of a frame size/codec conflict.
Your comp is 900x600, and the MainConcept codec is looking for a frame size of 720x480 (NTSC DV).
Using the Quicktime wrapper to export the H.264 is a fine optioin, however, AE will not do as good of a job compressing to that codec as Quicktime Pro, or a dedicated compression application would do. AE can only cache a limited number of frames for the compression process (frames before and after the current frame), and as a result, the compression quality and filesize will not be as small as they could be by using a different tool for the job.
As such, your supposition about rendering out an uncompressed/losslessly compressed movie and then running it through QT Pro (or another compression application) yielding superior results was a correct one.
