Exporting Oracle 10g reports into Excel 2007

Does anybody knows if there exits compatibility with the export function to Excel 2007?
Some users will be installing this Excel version and i don't know if the formatting and displaying will be similar as using previous versions. They use the export function available from Discoverer Viewer.
We have Oracle Discoverer Administrator version 10.1.2.1 and Discoverer Administrator client 10.1.2.48.18.
Thanks!

This is an old thread, but I was hoping there might be an update for it. The workaround of exporting to a .csv does work, but we need to be able to export to excel 2007. We have Discoverer Plus 11g and there doesn't seem to be an option to export to 2007's xlsx (just xls). Is there a way to add xlsx an an option to export to?
I saw the metalink document describing why exel 2003 (& 2007) behaves the way it does, which is fine. If that's the case, I (or my users more specifically) don't want to use it. Truth is, most users balk at extra steps (even a simple one like manually picking .csv), and the happier they are the easier my job is. They need to be able to export to the 2007 xlsx version which supports 1 mil rows per sheet. Can that format be enabled in Plus 11g?
Thanks

  • Warning message when exporting a Financial Report to Excel 2007

Excel 2007 users that attempt to export a fully formatted Financial Report into Excel 2007 get the following error message:
"The file you are trying to open, 'FileName.xls', is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?"
I am still researching the behavior that users get when they click through the message, but would ideally like for the message not to appear without updating the client machine registries. Has anybody else run across this?
    Excel 2007
    BI Plus version: 9.3.1.0.0.248

It looks like this is a known issue addressed in Bug 7359171 - EXPORT TO EXCEL 2007 CAUSES FILE FORMAT WARNING:
The current design does not allow you to open HTML content from a web site in Excel unless the extension of the URL is .HTM/.HTML/.MHT/.MHTML. So ASP pages that return HTML and set the MIME type to something like XLS to try to force the HTML to open in Excel instead of the web browser (as expected) will always get the security alert since the content does not match the MIME type. If you use an HTML MIME type, then the web browser will open the content instead of Excel. So there is no good workaround for this case because of the lack of a special MIME type for HTML/MHTML that is Excel specific. You can add your own MIME type if you control both the web server and the client desktops that need access to it but, otherwise the best option is to use a different file format or alert your users of the warning and tell them to select Yes to the dialog.
    Another Workaround :
    Client Configuration of Extension Hardening.
Client desktops can change the default behavior of the security check using a registry key. The following registry key can be set to alter the behavior ofthe Excel 2007 client in the following ways:
Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\SecurityValue: (DWORD)"ExtensionHardening" = [0 = Disable check; 1 = Enable check and prompt; 2 = Enable check, no prompt deny open]Default setting if value not present is 1 (enable and prompt).
The client can configure the site to disable the check by setting ExtensionHardening = 0. This will stop the prompt from appearing, but it will also disable any future checks for the file content validity. This does not (in itself) lower your security. The check is part of a defense-in-depth strategy to prevent malicious users from crafting files of a different type than its extension (or MIME type), which could then be used to trick users into opening a file of a type they did not expect. This warning is designed to let the user know of this potential threat and given them an option of canceling the open if they wish.

  • How to export oracle 10g data into parts (in excel or csv or txt)

is there any methods to export the data from oracle 10g in the form of excel or csc or txt. i already downloaded the sql developer tool but it only exports the data of upto one lakh rows ,but i have two tables of more than 3 lakh and 10 lakh rows respectively.for this i used where command to break the file through sql developer but that didnt work
plz help me out if any thing possible
i need to again import this data into microsoft sql if there is any direct method plz let me know

I wrote my own pl/sql tool to make csv upload/download tool, but the learning process is a bit painful and long, especially for beginner like me (end up using dynamic sql package because we pass in table name as parameter).
For your purpose, maybe the best way is to download a plug-in for Excel that can connect to your Oracle DB. There are many such products so you need to google around. For me, no need right now.
Another option is to use a commercial tool like Toad, or other products from same company.

    2. Export it as 2000/2003 format.
    3. Open the downloaded report with your MS Excel 2007

  • How to embed/show an image file (.jpeg or .jpg or .png) into a Oracle 10g report file (.rdf)

    Hi All,
Morning , have an urgent requirement and need some guidance regards this.
we are currently having an existing Oracle 10g reports file (.rdf)  lets say with name : Testing1.rdf .
The report output is getting generated in a pdf format . it opens up in a pdf format..
Now we want to embed an image file lets say : (logo.jpeg or logo.gif  ) into the report output..at run time the image from the image file should show up in the report output.
Could someone please help as to how this could be achieved..and what approach we could follow for this...
    with regards
    Thanks as always !!

    Hi All,
Morning ...just a follow up question to this original post : embedding the image files at runtime into an Oracle Report..
We were able to achieve this by entering the folder location where the image files are place on the server in the REPORTS_PATH env variable in the report.sh file.
Then we update this filename like file1.jpg into a table and from there we fetch this in the Oracle Reports data model directly.
for The layout field we select the option as Image.
    All this works fine..
Issue : The resolution of the embedded image in the generated report output is very low ...means the image appears there but it is not very clearly visible ..is there any way we could improve the IMAGE RESOLUTION in the report output....?????
    With regards

  • How to convert Oracle Report into Excel

    Hi,
    Please guide for the following:

  • How to Export SSRS report into Excel format using query string

    Hello all,
I am new to SSRS world.
Last night i was trying to add a hyperlink  on the SSRS report (.rdl) file, by clicking which we can export the report into "Excel" format, but with no luck.
Can anybody tell me how to form the hyperlink, so that we can export the report with its current content ( I mean the report content generated by selecting some parameter values)

    Hi Suman85,
Based on your scenario, you want to add a link on the SSRS report file, and then click it you can export the report into “Excel” format.
Just as kishan1901 said , you can add a textbox to your report and type in the words “Click here and export the report
to excel” .Then right-click the textbox and select Properties. Switch to Navigation tab, click the radiobutton of ‘Jump to URL’ and type in the expression ,here is just a example:
Then preview the report ,you will see
Click here and export the report to excel
when you move the mouse to it ,the mouse will become a hand ,then left-click, it will jump out a dialog box to indicate user whether the excel file should be saved , opened or canceled.
I think this is what you want, if you have any further requirement, could you please describe it in more detail? We would give you some resolution or workaround.

  • How to call Report 6i/9i Oracle Standard Report into Discoverer 10g

    1) Account Analysis Subledger Details(180 Char) - Standard Report 6i as i want the same report in Discoverer 10g.
    2) Aging Report -- 7 bucket --Standard report in 6i,how to transfer in Discoverer 10g.
Is is possible to Transfer from Report 6i to Discoverer or How to Create this report in Discoverer 10g.
    Please advice,
    Sushant

Well, if I had to do it, here's how I'd start.
    1. Get the SQL from the Oracle Report and then create a database view that's more generic based on the SQL but still gets the answers.
For example, you'd not code many conditions, etc. but the database view would be pointing to the correct Oracle Apps tables / views.
Once you've got the view, bring it in to Disco Admin, etc. and create a report from it that now adds the extra conditions needed. That way you can use the underlying concept without hard coding things like dates, etc. which you would ask the user at run time.
However ... as you may well know ... Oracle Reports can do some 'strange and/or powerful things' on the fly and, for example, it may be something like a temporary table generated for the report, etc. so may become a much bigger issue.
    2. If you have NoetixViews views then they'll most likely already have the views for these queries already created as they're reasonable for what's needed in an Oracle environment.
    3. I'd see if there is already a pre-defined BIS view that covers this as well. Again, you're in an area that's pretty popular so if a BIS view already covers much of the same info then you've got a create view 'head start' already. Check views owned by Apps starting with the application plus FV or FG (the one you'd really want) such as: GLFG_Budgets_To_Actuals to see what I mean.

  • Oracle crashes when trying to pull reports into Excel

We are using Oracle 806 with Designer 2000 to pull reports into excel (office 2003).
Here is the issue, when we try to pull the report into Excel the report pulls and it puts it in the tmapps/files folder, but excel does not open and oracle crashes.
We also tested it with office 07 with the same results.
    What could be causing this?
Let me know if there is any other information I can provide to help you help me.
    thank you!

If by "oracle crashes" you mean the DB, then there are trace/dump files that the DBA can find that will help to identify the cause of the crash. If you mean Designer, I have no experience there.
Regardless, consider newer versions/alternatives to both since they are both very dated (10 years at least) by this point.

  • Need help for importing oracle 10G dump into 9i database

hi, Someone help me to import oracle 10G dump into 9i database. I'm studying oracle . Im using oracle 10G developer suite(downloaded from oracle) and oracle 9i database. I saw some threads tat we can't import the higher version dumps into lower version database. But i'm badly need help for importing the dump...
    or
someone please tell me the site to download oracle 9i Developer suite as i can't find it in oracle site...

I didnt testet it to import a dump out of a 10g instance into a 9i instance if this export has been done using a 10g environment.
But it is possible to perform an export with a 9i environment against a 10g instance.
I am just testing this with a 9.2.0.8 environment against a 10.2.0.4.0 instance and is working so far.
The system raises an EXP-00008 / ORA-37002 error after exporting the data segments (exporting post-schema procedural objects and actions).
I am not sure if it is possible to perform an import to a 9i instance with this dump but maybe worth to give it a try.
It should potentially be possible to export at least 9i compatible objects/segments with this approach.
However, I have my doubts if this stunt is supported by oracle ...

  • Reg: Download report into Excel file

    Hi All,
While downloading the ALV report into excel file(System -> List -> Save -> Local file) or (List -> Export -> Local file), i cannot download full report in to excel. Even though the report contains just 200 rows(I can able to download about 90 lines).
Some reports can able to download all the data, even the report is very big. Currently I am blind to solve, anyone can help me to solve this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

The most elegant way of downloading ALV display data to EXCEL is displaying the excel in the SAP GUI screen itself.  Select "Excel in Place" and then save it from there. Before that you need to let the VB script of SAP know as trusted macro. This is done by opening a blank excel file then go to Tools > options > Security > Macro Security > Trusted Publishers (tab) > (check) Trust access to Visual Basic Project.  This activation is one time activation. Once you do this you can see ALV display exactly like in normal ALV with all the colors fields etc.

  • Printing Oracle 10g Reports in Line Matrix Printers

    Hello!
I encountered problem when printing a generated report in Oracle 10g Reports to a Line Printer. When the report is in PDF format, the fonts when printed on line printers become scattered and the orientation of the report rotates 90 degrees. If I use HTMLCSS format, the pages are not of fixed size. Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.

    1. Setup CUPS Printing Environment in Linux / Unix (on many modern Linux systems, CUPS is the default Printing System at the moment). The details of setup / build of CUPS is beyond the scope of this article. For details, please visit CUPS sites and documentation :
    http://www.cups.org
    http://www.cups.org/doc-1.1/sam.html
The setup of CUPS is complete for our purposes, once you are able to print PDF documents directly from unix shell as follows :
    $ PRINTER=yourprinter
    $ export PRINTER
    $ lp test.pdf
    OR
    $ lpr test.pdf
    * The "yourprinter" above should be substituted with the name of your printer queue defined in CUPS and "test.pdf" is any pdf document available on this server.
    2. In reports.sh, set the following parameter and restart the Report Server:
    REPORTS_CUPS_PRINTING=YES; export REPORTS_CUPS_PRINTING
    3. Setup PDF functionality (including Font Subsetting / Embedding etc) to display the output as required in PDF format. To check this, run the report with the option "...destype=cache&desformat=PDF...".
    4. Run the report with parameters "...&desformat=PDF&destype=printer&desname=yourprinter&...."
This way, Reports Server generates a PDF file in cache and sends it to CUPS printer queue, ie the "desformat=pdf" option is no longer ignored with "destype=printer".

  • Oracle 10g Reports Server - problem authenticating against DB

I have a problem with Oracle 10g Reports server authenticating against an Oracle RDBMS.
When I try to run reports, an authentication form screen is presented, with the password field empty (the URL in explorer that loads this page contains the username and DB instance, but is missing the password) and the following error message:
    REP-51018: Need database user authentication
When the password is entered into the empty field in the form and submitted, another 2 authentication errors are given.
    REP-51018: Need database user authentication
REP-12545: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
When the URL in the browser location field is manually altered to include the DB password, the reports are authenticated fine.
Any ideas which config file I should be looking in?
Any pointers would, of course, be much appreciated.
    thanks,
    Brian

Hello, i finally have discovered what was happening, it has to be with the way FreeBSD passes the password field. By default FreeBSD passes the password field with a '*' while Oracle Linux (and Red Hat clones) expect an 'x' to look into shadow maps (Linux uses the '*' character in the password file to not allow login to that user).
To solve it the password field served by the NIS server must be substituted, which is accomplished with nsswitch.conf and adding a line to the /etc/password file on the NIS Client, so the final files will look this way:
    # nsswitch.conf (compat directive allows us to use the '+' sintaxis in /etc/passwd file)
    passwd files compat
    # /etc/passwd (just add at the end of file)
    +:x:::::
