Exporting a BI report to excel 2007 from Portal

Hi,
Any one please let me know is there any option to export a BI report from portal to MS excel 2007, the option which we have directly prompts to save in 2000/2003.
Regards,
Pradeep

Hi Pradeep,
Could you please try if following trick works:
1. Open the report at Portal.
2. Export it as 2000/2003 format.
3. Open the downloaded report with your MS Excel 2007
4. Save it as 2007 MS Excel format.
Sorry as I haven't personally tried above but just a suggestion; Please let me know if above works or not?
Regards,
Anuj

  • Warning message when exporting a Financial Report to Excel 2007

    Excel 2007 users that attempt to export a fully formatted Financial Report into Excel 2007 get the following error message:
    "The file you are trying to open, 'FileName.xls', is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?"
    I am still researching the behavior that users get when they click through the message, but would ideally like for the message not to appear without updating the client machine registries. Has anybody else run across this?
    Excel 2007
    BI Plus version: 9.3.1.0.0.248

    It looks like this is a known issue addressed in Bug 7359171 - EXPORT TO EXCEL 2007 CAUSES FILE FORMAT WARNING:
    The current design does not allow you to open HTML content from a web site in Excel unless the extension of the URL is .HTM/.HTML/.MHT/.MHTML. So ASP pages that return HTML and set the MIME type to something like XLS to try to force the HTML to open in Excel instead of the web browser (as expected) will always get the security alert since the content does not match the MIME type. If you use an HTML MIME type, then the web browser will open the content instead of Excel. So there is no good workaround for this case because of the lack of a special MIME type for HTML/MHTML that is Excel specific. You can add your own MIME type if you control both the web server and the client desktops that need access to it but, otherwise the best option is to use a different file format or alert your users of the warning and tell them to select Yes to the dialog.
    Another Workaround :
    Client Configuration of Extension Hardening.
    Client desktops can change the default behavior of the security check using a registry key. The following registry key can be set to alter the behavior ofthe Excel 2007 client in the following ways:
    Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\SecurityValue: (DWORD)"ExtensionHardening" = [0 = Disable check; 1 = Enable check and prompt; 2 = Enable check, no prompt deny open]Default setting if value not present is 1 (enable and prompt).
    The client can configure the site to disable the check by setting ExtensionHardening = 0. This will stop the prompt from appearing, but it will also disable any future checks for the file content validity. This does not (in itself) lower your security. The check is part of a defense-in-depth strategy to prevent malicious users from crafting files of a different type than its extension (or MIME type), which could then be used to trick users into opening a file of a type they did not expect. This warning is designed to let the user know of this potential threat and given them an option of canceling the open if they wish.

  • Code generate report in excel format from portal(Application Server)

    Hi all
    Please give some solution with code generate report in excel format from
    oracle portal(Application Server).

    Not feasible.
    Why? Because "the Excel format" is a binary and proprietary Microsoft file format. And writing a generator to generate Excel files will be complex, and resource expensive. In the vast majority of cases this will not be justified.
    As an alternative the very basic Microsoft XML office format can be used. But note that this is not a a ISO standard (it has been shot down in flames) - and effort and resources for that would be better spend on the Open Document XML standard (which very likely will be ratified as the ISO standard instead).
    Of course, you could have meant a CSV file - in which case, you need to play close attention to details. CSV is not an Excel format. A software designers and developers, our success is determined by attention to technical detail. In which case you are not paying any attention to technical detail by confusing CSV with Excel.

  • Exporting Oracle 10g reports into Excel 2007

    Does anybody knows if there exits compatibility with the export function to Excel 2007?
    Some users will be installing this Excel version and i don't know if the formatting and displaying will be similar as using previous versions. They use the export function available from Discoverer Viewer.
    We have Oracle Discoverer Administrator version 10.1.2.1 and Discoverer Administrator client 10.1.2.48.18.
    Thanks!

    This is an old thread, but I was hoping there might be an update for it. The workaround of exporting to a .csv does work, but we need to be able to export to excel 2007. We have Discoverer Plus 11g and there doesn't seem to be an option to export to 2007's xlsx (just xls). Is there a way to add xlsx an an option to export to?
    I saw the metalink document describing why exel 2003 (& 2007) behaves the way it does, which is fine. If that's the case, I (or my users more specifically) don't want to use it. Truth is, most users balk at extra steps (even a simple one like manually picking .csv), and the happier they are the easier my job is. They need to be able to export to the 2007 xlsx version which supports 1 mil rows per sheet. Can that format be enabled in Plus 11g?
    Thanks

  • Not able to export web analysis report to excel smart view from workspace

    Not able to export web analysis report to excel smart view from workspace.
    Error :Web launch operation has been cancelled.
    Can anyone help me to resolve this issues

    I realized that I can put a block in WebI and then I can pull that in excel alongside of static header, after putting the question.
    My interest to know whether it is by design in XI 3.0 or it is an issue. But by the replies it seems to me like it is by design.
    @Anis: I can't go for header as part of Body. Because this report is viewed in Web by many other users. I can't have separate report for Live office, it is a restriction for me. If I use the header in body, it wont look good I guess.

  • Exporting a web report to Excel

    Hi,
    When I export a web report to Excel, it works fine. when I resave the same file as .xls file, the excel file size is reduced drastically (less than 1/10).
    Why is this happening? Any way to reduce the file size in the first stage, that is down loading to Excel from web.
    Thanks
    Unni

    Hi,
    I don't understand what do you mean here. Do you mean we could not reduce size in the first time? We have exactly the same problem and the file size is about 20-40 MB. This size is too big to download by end user. It's excel file with .xls extension. When I open it by Excel and then try to Save As, it try to save as Web Page with *.htm extension. If I resave as a Excel Workbook format, the size is reduced to 3-4 MB. My question is the same as the other folk, how do I save it as Excel format with proper size the first time?
    Thanks,
    Yujun

    I have searched for it on internet :-

    Example, given in the last of the page opened from the above url, is not working.
    Can neone plz explain the example and how to use it
    Thanks & Regards
    JD

    Ok, for the release 2 its quite straightfoward, in your calling form you would have something like this code:
    declare
         pl_id ParamList;
    repid REPORT_OBJECT;
    v_rep VARCHAR2(100);
    v_rep_status VARCHAR2(20);
    v_repsrv     VARCHAR2(100):= 'yourreportserver';
    v_serv varchar2(50) := 'yourservername' ;
    begin
    pl_id := Get_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    if not id_null(pl_id) then
    Destroy_Parameter_List( pl_id );
    end if;
    pl_id := Create_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    Add_Parameter(pl_id,'DESTYPE' ,TEXT_PARAMETER,'Screen' );
    Add_Parameter(pl_id,'PARAMFORM' ,TEXT_PARAMETER,'NO' );
    repid := FIND_REPORT_OBJECT('yourreport');     SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_COMM_MODE,SYNCHRONOUS);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_EXECUTION_MODE,RUNTIME);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_SERVER, v_repsrv);
    set_report_object_property(repid,REPORT_DESTYPE,CACHE );
    set_report_object_property(repid,REPORT_DESFORMAT,'SPREADSHEET' );
    v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid,pl_id);
    v_rep := substr(v_rep,length(v_repsrv)+2,10 ) ;
    end;
    I have plenty of reports being formated to excel with this same method so it should work for you, the only diference with my previous code is this line.
    set_report_object_property(repid,REPORT_DESFORMAT,'SPREADSHEET' );
    The rest remains untouched.
    Hope it helps.

  • How to export the dashboard reports for Excel in OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0?

    Hi Experts,
    How to export the dashboard reports for Excel in OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0?
    For example:
    Dashboard contains more than one report, and add one export button for downloading these reports for Excel.
    Is it possible to implement this requirement?Thanks.

    There is no direct option, you can try the following workaround.
    Page Option -> Print -> Printable Html
    Then File -> Save Page as
    Choos Save as type as -> All files
    File name as Report.xls
    When you Open the xls file, if you get a pop up saying problem during load just omit it and proceed.
    The report will open in excel.
    Or save the page as html /mht and open it with Excel, this also will work.
    Note: I have tested this in Mozilla
    Thanks,

  • Exporting Crystal report to excel 2007 with an image

    Hi - I hope this is the correct forum for this question.
    We are using the Crystal report viewer and everything works just fine . When I go to export to excel (using office 2007) the images are not exporting, do you know if this is an excel 2007 problem or a Crystal issue?
    Thanks in advance
    DanPlo

    Hi;
    I still recommend installing the Service Pack. If the issue persists, and is contained to the version 8.5 reports, then yet, they will likely need to be converted to version 11.0 to work correctly. The Crystal Reports engine was completely re-written in version 9.0, so moving from 8.5 can cause some issues.
    If you try exporting one of the 8.5 reports from the verison 11.0 Designer, do you have the issue?

    Jonathan

  • Crystal Reports 2011 - excel 2007-2010 export

    Hello,
    I just upgraded to crystal reports 2011 from crystal reports XI Release 2. I am having an issue exporting to excel 2007-2010 format. When I do an export and then open it in excel, excel gives me an error message that the file is corrupt and if I want to recover the contents. When I try and recover the contents, I am greeted with the error below. I am not sure what to do to fix it and would appreciate any help.
    Removed Part: /xl/sharedStrings.xml part with XML error.  (Strings) Illegal xml character. Line 3, column 19160.
    Removed Records: Cell information from /xl/worksheets/Sheet1.xml part

    Hi Marina,
    What version of Excel are you using to open the report?
    Have you tried creating a simple report and exporting it?  It's possible something in that report is causing the problem.
    Good luck,
    Brian

    3) Click on File Types tab
    4) Check if TSV file is defined there or not. If it is not there, click on New and add the File Extension

    Hi Nirmal,
    I have done the same in my previous organisation.For this particular solution you need to ask your basis guys to upgrade the support package so that BCS classes could be available in the system.
    API interafces five some problem with attachemnts and SAP has recommended to use BCS classes.
    Currently BCS classes won't be availbale in 4.7.
