Exporting .rep Files to Excel via openDocument?

Hi,
as the documentation states, only .rpt can be directly exported to excel via openDocument's sOutputFormat.
Others created with Desktop Intelligence (.rep) can "only" be exported to PDF and HTML via sOutputFormat.
However, in the WebIntelligence Toolbar there is the possibility to Export those .rep Files after generation.
The URL for the export looks like /saveAsPDForXLS.jsp (or something like that), and as far as i remember a sEntry  GET var is passed with the query.
This sEntry var - i suppose so - is an unique id for the freshly generated document?
Anyway, my question is, isnt there a way to use openDocument to export .rep Files to excel?
thanks!
attila

Hi Ted,
exactly, but as i mentioned when the request is finished and e.g. the pdf document embedded in a frame shows up, there is the chance to export it via the toolbar to csv/excel.
When selecting that option, a redirection to /saveAsXLSorPDF.jsp (or so) is fullfilled.
I'm not sure what exactly happens between that redirect, maybe you can help me on that point.
The sEntry parameter being passed to saveAsXLSorPDF.jsp, where from (or how) is it generated?
Does the sEntry param depend on the openDocument URL request, Is there some special algoritm for generating that sEntry?
To make it clear, what im thinking about is:
I can make an openDocument URL Request
sleep(20min)
Make another request to saveAsXLSorPDF.jsp with the sEntry which i could generate by myself, if i knew what algorithm is underneath!
Thanks in Advance

  • Open .csv file in excel via Labwindows

    Hello
    After writing all my data in a .csv and closing it (using fclose), I would like to open this .csv file using Excel via a Labwindows command so that the user can see all the data. Is that possible? If yes, which function should I use?
    Thanks

    The simplest way of all is to issue the command OpenDocumentInDefaultViewer (): it should automatically open Excel with the document in it. It is equivalent of double-clicking the file in windows explorer.
    If it does not opens the file, you must verify that in windows CSV file extension is correctly associated with Excel application.

  • Separator problem after opening a exported CSV file in Excel

    Dear experts,
    After exporting a report to .CSV file from BEX browser, I opened this file with Excel. I found that "," is considered as separator, but not ";" which is by default the separator in CSV file exported.
    For example, when i open the CSV in Notepad, i have:
    "15.07.2008";"E001";"No value"
    "15.07.2008";"E001";"No value, date, time"
    When it is opened in Excel, I have
    "15.07.2008";"E001";"No value"(Column A)
    "15.07.2008";"E001";"No value(Column A) date(Column B)    time"(Column C)
    Is that a problem in Excel configuration? How to solve it (for example, set ; as separator)?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    Please try opening your .csv file in excel. I am assuming that all texts are in one column. Select this column, go to Data>Text to Columns. Set the checkbox to Delimited. Click on next. Set the delimeter to ; and the text qualifier to ". Click on next. Click on finish. Then save in another filename. Try opening this new .csv file in notepad and see if it has the format you needed.
    Hope this helps,

  • Will not export csv Files or Excel

    I have a large spread sheet with 278 entries. I have tried to export as csv and excel files. Get error for csv, unable. and crash on excel. Any suggestions. I have the all the updates.

    Yvan,
    I do not doubt that the OP's document behaves as you described. However, since a similar problem might affect other users, it would be helpful to know more about what it is about the "wrongdoer" as you call it that triggers this. (I have a particular interest in this because of the number of spreadsheets I export to Excel users & how if this happened to me it would adversely affect my livelihood.)
    Accordingly, I tried to duplicate the behavior from the info available in this thread. I tried single & multiple popup-formatted cells, in one & more than one row, using a variety of data values in the popup choices. But in no case could I get any results other than as I described.
    This leaves me (& perhaps others) wondering if or when a similar wrongdoer might causes similar problems in some future document of mine (or of others) & if this occurs, how to identify the cause & resolve it.
    Thus, anything more detailed that you care to share in this forum would be appreciated.

  • Error exporting a file to Excel

    I'm using Discoverer 10g version 9.0.4 and after making a query in Discoverer plus I try to export the result to Excel. After doing this appears me an error launched by Excel saying my workbook has a kind of macro (Excel's 4.0 macro) that can't be disabled so it's not possible to open the workbook if it is established high security level.
    I have Excel 2000 and I don't know how to solve this. Anyone knows what happens?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    I am relatively new to this forum but I had the same problem exporting a file.
    The solution I found was that the error was not with Discoverer but Excel. If you go to Excel and chose Tools\Macro\Security the security level will probably be set to High, change this to Medium and it should be OK. It worked for me.

  • How do I find out when I last paid for exporting Adobe files to Excel?

    I paid for a year of service and my service appears no longer active.  It seems as though it has been less than a year since I paid for my subscription.  How do I find out when I actually first signed up for this service?

    i'm not entirely sure about the new tab page - in principle it will use an algorithm which populates the slots based on the frequency & the recency of visits. however i think that sites removed from the history should also disappear from the new tab page (when i tried it it was at least true after i've restarted the browser once) - if this isn't happening for you then it might be some bug...
    in any case firefox won't have the proper features to reliably monitor your kids' browsing behaviour - they always can use private browsing mode where no traces will be left on the pc or manually "clean up" the history.

  • Offset in exported spool file

    Hi there,
    I built a report which exports spool files in Excel or TXT files as described here:
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/sandbox/ConversionofSpoolRequestDataintoPDFandExcelFormatandSenditintoMail
    I the converted file I now get an offset in some lines which I cannot explain. It is not in the spool list if I look on the spool list output in transaction SP01.
    As far as I could analyze it, it happens within the function module SO_RAW_TO_RTF or SCMS_STRING_TO_XSTRING.
    Has anybody an idea what the reason could be?
    Thanks in advance and regards,
    Martin

    Yes, Its Done.
    I was doing spooling using Unix.
    And checking the database using SQL.
    Both were diffrent instance.
    I have log in to the Unix instance using sqlplus.
    Then i have check the table.
    The table was containing duplicate rows there.
    i have commited database on both instance.
    Now its ok.

  • Export to Excel, via a Link on action page

    I have two questions.
    1) How can I export to excel, via a link.  So for example I have a form  and a user clicks submit and I cfoutput the data in a table on the same  page (action page is the same as the input page).  Now, once the data is  output, I would like a link on that same page so the user can click and  it will export the table to Excel.
    I have tried:
        <cfheader name="Content-Disposition" value="attachment; filename=test.xls">
        <cfcontent type="application/msexcel">
        <cfoutput query="qTest">
        <table>
        <tr>
        <th>Account</th>
        <th>Amount</th>
        </tr>
        <tr>
        <td>#qTest.ACCOUNT#</td>
        <td>#NumberFormat('#qTest.TotalAmt#', "_(999,999,999.99)")#</td>
        </tr>
        </table>
        </cfoutput>
    But once the page is loaded it tries to export automatically.  How can I  get it to export via a link?
    Also, someone suggested wrapping the cfoutput in a <cfsavecontent  variable="xyz"> tag, but once I do that, how do I put the "xyz"  variable into the <cfcontent> tag?  Or where do I use it?
    Thanks guys

    Here's some additional ways that you can format your output Excel Spreadsheet using CSS - I just copied this from one of my applications to give you an idea. Outputting to Excel is really nice because you can email the file off and you can put links into the cells or whatever. I normally display on the screen, then have the Excel Output button and just copy the whole query over to the Excel output page - it works for Office 2000 to 2007, haven't checked it on later versions. I kept this simple, but you can do all sorts of things with the Styles to make it look pretty. I did not include the query stuff as that would just clutter this up, but you'll get the picture.

  • How to create and export a sharepoint list connection file to excel connection file library from power pivot?

    Hi All,
    I'm new to SharePoint and Power BI.
    I've to use  share point 2013 lists to create power view reports. For that, I need to create Power Pivot in Excel 2013.
    I'm fine with the above. We normally take a data feed of a list and create connection to that. We need to create a connection file (.odc) and export it into a excel file connection library of Share point. The connection to be made to share point list. The
    power pivot will be having multiple related lists.
    How can I create a connection file which is referring to share point list
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Julie

    Hi All,
    Finally, I could find the answer for this question after a long search.
    First of all, open a new excel file in server.
    Data-->From other connection-->From data connection wizard-->data feed-->Location of the data feed-->
    http://sharepointsite/sitename/_vti_bin/ListData.svc
    -->next-->select the lists which you need-->next-->only create connection-->properties--->export connection file
    -->ok
    The connection file has been created and .odc file exported to the specified location.
    Open power pivot and check the connection in existing connections.
    Exported file has to be uploaded in Excel file connection library of share point 2013. So that you can refer the same in this excel file when you upload it into share point.
    Regards,
    Julie

  • Exporting Tcode MKVZ to Excel File

    Hi Experts,
    I'm trying to export the output of tcode MKVZ (List of Vendors: Purchasing) to a local file in the format of spreadsheet. I successfully exported the file but when I reviewed the content on the excel file, some rows were missing and others were merge to other rows.
    Please help me how can I export it properly on spreadsheet.
    Regards,
    Ronald

    Hi  Jürgen,
    Your guess is absolutely right.  I'm connecting to the sap system remotely so that's why I need to export it locally. Then, I choose the format spreadsheet. By default on the filename, there was already a .XLS extension, so I only need to add the name of the file then click the generate button. It was successfully generated. When I tried to open it on the excel, it always prompts me that the file I'm going to open is in a different format than the specified by the file extension. Still, I ignored the warning message since the excel file can read and open the file. But the data format was not on the right rows or columns.
    Now I understand that it should be in a txt format before I import it to an excel file. But how come that the spreadsheet is not an excel format? I thought it is a format of excel.
    Thanks so much for your help, assistance and patience.
    Cheers!
    Ronald

    and the Values are 10-new, 20-planning.

    Here this is the URL which is having ResourceName.xls file.
    But I couldn't find where its saving the file. weather its saving the file?
    I observed for the first click its doing some 2sec's process.(I think its saving some where).
    For second click its taking some lengthy process ( i don't know how much time its taking, because i waited for almost 5 hours, but nothing shown up).
    Thanks in advance

    Java doesn't care what the file extension is.
    The MIME type needs to be correct or you cannot expect the file to be loaded correctly.
