Exporting schemas problem
When I try to export a schema table within Portal I get the following error message:
Unable to access the specified temporary directory. Cannot perform Export Operation. Contact the administrator. (WWV-16810)
My temporary directory is set to c:\temp and I have also checked the access privileges which appear to be ok.
I have checked all Oracle resources and cannot find any reference to this error.
Does anyone know what would cause it?

Nicholas,
U have to have "c:/temp" directory in the machine where you installed portal and not on the machine from where you are accessing portal. Are you sure that you have created 'c:/temp" directory on the machine where u have installed portal. Moreover you need to have write permission on that directory.
Thanx,
Chetan.

Access - can't export schema to xml
omwb 10.1.0.4
windows 2000 work station.
can't export schema to xml.
waited for an hour and the omwb2000.mde just hung there with no response.
while with 10.1.0.2 it only takes several secondshi hilary,
I've noticed that another instance of access was up.
But it's not minimized.
And I've also noticed that omwb created three temp tables in the source mdb.
( all starting with '_'. can't remember the names. maybe acctables, acccolumns etc )
And the source schema data was stored in the temp tables above.
Then the access instance opening source mdb seems hanging somewhere waiting for something.
And the omwb2000.mde seems to be waiting for the other instance to end.
I don't know whether the source mdb has any security settings.
( omwb doc doesn't tell me the way to check that)
But I did the import which omwb doc said will eliminate secure setting problem. -
Color Scheme Problems in Ultiboard
Hi, I've been having trouble with the color scheme problems in Ultiboard ever since I upgraded form 10.0 to 10.1. The color schemes will not save in Ultiboard 10.1, even with the new patch 10.1.0.1, this problem is persistant.
Here's the problem in detail:
In global Preferences, I click on "Colors", and then New Scheme, give it a name, and I define my colors. However, when I open a new file, the colors are reverted to the default. When I check the preferences again, the name that I have given to my color scheme is labeled as "User settings", and they are the same as the default colors.
This is really annoying as every time I open a file, I have to change the color schemes. It seems like these settings are not being saved in the user-configuration file for some reason or another.
I have tried deleting my user-config file in the user directories, and started new user-config files, but to no avail, the problem is persistent. The color just will not stay.
How do I get around this problem?

Thanks for reporting this. I was able to reproduce the issue and created a defect report, ID: 112869.

How to create database link between 2 servers to exports schemas
Could any one please give Steps to create database link between 2 servers (linux) to exports schemas like AR, INV, GL.......etc
Hi Mouni,
As i suggest above, please use the REMAP_SCHEMA parameter, so that you can create those objects which are getting created in the Apps Schema in the XBSI schema, I have already provided the syntax above.
ORA-31684: Object type VIEW:"XBSI"."XBSI_ORDER_LINE_INFO_V" already exists
ORA-31684: Object type VIEW:"XBSI"."XBSI_SERIAL_NO_V" already exists
ORA-31684: Object type VIEW:"XBSI"."XBSI_ONHAND_BALANCES" already exists
ORA-31684: Object type VIEW:"XBSI"."XBSI_PURCHASE_ORDERS" already exists
ORA-31684: Object type VIEW:"XBSI"."XBSI_ORDER_HEADER_INFO_V" already exists
ORA-31684: Object type VIEW:"XBSI"."XBSI_ORGANIZATION_ITEMS" already exists
ORA-31684: Object type VIEW:"XBSI"."XBSI_PE_FIND_RESULT" already exists
You are facing these errors as you have already done the import, and when you try to re-import it says those objects are already available. If this fresh import, Please drop the the new user you have already created in the Datawarehouse instance, and recreate the User and start a fresh import.
Hope this help!
Thanks &

How can I export schema with all objects and few tables without data
Hi all
Verion 10g EE.
I have to export schema with all objects but i need to ingnore some of the table data.
There are 4 table those have huge data, we need not to export those tables data but structure should export.
Thanks,
NrYou can do this with a single command. Run your export as normal and add query parameters for the 4 tables that you don't want any rows:
expdp ... query=schema1.table1:"where rownum = 0" query=schema2.table2:"where rownum = 0" ...
It is best to put the query parameters in a parameter file so you don't have to worry about escaping any OS special characters.

How to export Schema to a cvs file?
I want to know whether or not there is a tool that exports schema to a csv file?
This quetion has been asked a number of times on this forum. As I recall, th efavourite solutions are to use Toad (www.quest.com) or to write a little procedure yourself, using UTL_FILE or spooling from SQL*Plus. This would actually be quite simple to genericise (it's probably what Toad does), but I don't know whether anybody's actually posted some code - try the search facility and find out.

Import/export schema with ODI
Hi all,
do you know if with ODI11g I can import a full schema from Oracle database to another Oracle database?
Thanks
Erikawhy don't use imp/exp command to export schema from source db and import into target db.
1) export11g ODI repository schemas in DMP files
example : my 11g schemas are "ODI_MASTER" and "ODI_WORK"
exp userid=odi_master/*odi_master* file=c:\odi_master.dmp
exp userid=odi_work/*odi_work* file c:\odi_work.dmp
2) import the dump file into new schemas in the new database (or is it the same database ? in my case, it was a different one)
imp userid=SYSTEM/password touser=odi_master fromuser=odi_master file=c:\odi_master.dmp
imp userid= SYSTEM/password touser=odi_work fromuser=odi_work file=c:\odi_work.dmp

Codition records for Export scheme.
Dear Experts ,
For new export scheme I have to create condition records based on Departure Country / Destination Country / Control Code. I have created a new table with mentioned fields. but while creating condition records in VK11 , we are getting error message as " Object Control code not provided with characteristic 30042019". here 30042019 is the control code.
Ex. IN/US/ 3001429
I think some link is required to maintain Control code with countries other then India.
Please help to resolve this issue .Ah I see, your company prefers stupidity over efficiency. It would be possible to do it in a controlled environment, wouldn't it? Also the test database would be allowed to select only.
So the non-allowance is just plain stupid.
To the second question: do you use hard-coded passwords in shell scripts?
Don't you think that poses a security risk?
Don't you think that is a bigger risk than a database link, properly set up?
In my book it is!

Good Morning All,
I would like to export schema with data to another.
Any help?
Thanks in advance,
EB NYIf you have a few tables...quick and dirty way is to
create new_table as select * from old_schema.tableOtherwise depending on what version you are on and you have access, use exp/data pump.
Alot of good pages on using expdp but the general syntax is
1st, make the directories
connect / as sysdba
grant create any directory to org_schema_user;
create or replace directory dump_directory as '/my_directory_on_the_file_system/';
grant read, write on directory dump_directory to org_schema_user;
grant read, write on directory dump_directory to new_schema_user;export
expdp user/password schemas=start_schema directory=dump_directory dumpfile=my_dmp_file.dmp logfile=my_dmp_file_export.logimport
impdp new_user/password remap_schema=old_schema:new_schema directory=dump_directory dumpfile=my_dmp_file.dmp logfile=my_dmp_file_import.log
