Exposing SAP systems directly through Portal

Hello All,
If we expose the SAP systems directly through the Portal by creating transaction iviews, Are there any security lapses. I could see a great advantage of users having the internet enabled usage of SAP systems of their organisation.
Is this a recommended approach for an organization who doesnot any external users to the organisation and have only just internal users.
Thanks in adavnce.
Regards,
Kalyan.

> Is this a recommended approach for an organization

Yes, because to create transaction iviews you also need to specify the system object representing the backend sap system which has a property called Logon Method which can be either "User Mapping" or "Logon Tickets".
In either case you have to map a portal user to the backend user.
So only if a portal user also has some mapping done by means of Logon ticket/User mapping to the backend system can he/she see the transaction.
P.S. Do let me know if you need more help.

  • Exposing SAP Systems using EP6 SP2?

I am interested in Exposing SAP Systems (using Webgui and/or Wingui)using EP6 to the outside world. All Java iViews connecting to SAP Systems seem to work if EP6 is exposed to the outside world. But exposing webgui/wingui thru the portal seem to require me to expose them indiviually thru the firewall.
Is this correct or does anyone know a way of exposing the webgui/wingui thru the portal without having to explicitly exposing each installation?

Maybe I am wrong, but I am afraid, that the webgui/wingui really must be exposed through the firewall to the outside world. It's because the portal doesn't produce the content of the iViews itself, it just merely passes according URL's of the webgui/wingui to the client's browser, which then communicates directly with the according (ITS) server.

    Hi,
We are in SAP EP5 SP5. Our requirement is to upload a document from the user into SAP.
Is there anyway we could do this.
We just have Portal Platform, no KM and Unification.
Is there any standard Iview from SAP EP which allows us to upload the document in to SAP.
Expecting your thoughts on the same.

  • How to Access data from SAP Content Server through SAP Portal

    Hi Experts,
I want to aceess the data from SAP Content server through portal. Currently I am working on LSO business package. The SAP content server should work like Webdav as we uses KM as webdav.
I am trying to use this URL into the CMS address but it is not working
    http://XXX-XXX-XXXX:1090/ConTentServer/ContentServer.dll?adminContRep&operation=docIdList&contRep=ZADGAS_LSO
Is there any other procedure for acceesing the DATA  from SAP content server. ?
    Thanks,

If your Content Server is being used by DMS, then you can use the DMS Connector for KM.  This connector allows all documents stored in DMS to be accessed in Portal as if they are stored in KM.  For more info see this:

  • Want to access non SAP system from EP

    Hey Guys,
We are having a system (CRMS) which is a non SAP system. I know through EP we can connect to the non SAP system.
Can somebody pls tell me the steps to do this.  I want to access the data from non SAP system on Enterprise Portal.
Pls provide me the useful links / doc.
    Thanks in advance.
    NIkesh Shah

    Hello Nikesh,
As I mentioned, kindly check up on help.sap.com.
    Anyways:
Create an HTTP system using the System Templates Provided. Instead of selecting SAP Systems you select HTTP system. Provide parameters:
    Authentication method: POST
    Authentication Type: Server
URL Parameter for Password & URL Parameter for Username: This you can get by doing a View Source on the Login Page of your CRMS appln. e.g. <input type = "hidden" name ="user"> -> So in this case you pick up user
In User management property select Usermapping and admin, user
    Now create a URL iView:
System: Select the 1 you created.
URL: URL to your application till before any query string starts.
    REQUEST Methid: GET
URL Parameter 1: <the user param from the source> TYPE = Mapped User
URL Parameter 2: <the pwd param from the source> TYPE = Mapped Password
Enter the user mapping for that user and test the iview.

  • Connecting to an sap system

    Hi
Just wanted to know if the JCO client service is the only way of connecting to an SAP system from enterprise portal.
    thanks
    Ram

    Hi Ram,
no, it's the "old" way, the new one goes via JCA; see JCA/J2EE Connector Architecture with WAS 6.20 (R/3 Enterprise) and JCO x JCA and Java to SAP as well as the brand-new article https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/using j2ee connector architecture with ep6 iview development.pdf

  • Extract Tables/views into ECC 5.0 SAP system from Non-SAP system

    Hi,
I am looking for some inputs on how to set up the following scenario of extracting data stored in tables/views in a non-sap external system into my SAP ECC 5.0 SAP database.
Currently we are using a middleware between SAP and the external system to fetch data. I would like to get rid of the middleware and set up a scenario to call this non-sap external system and pull data stored in views into our SAP system directly. Is that possible in SAP version 5.0? If yes let me know the steps to be performed... do I need to set up XI ?

maybe you can access sap data using some connector such as java or .net connector.

  • Interface module in GTS from Non-SAP system

    Hi, GTS experts,
Can you give me some hint please.
Now I'm plannning to connect Non-SAP system to GTS.
Are there any interface modules or something in GTS?
At least, following objects & actions are to be transferred and maintenanced.
    - business partner (customer or vendor in ERP)
    - customs product (product in ERP)
    - customs document & customs declaration document (document in ERP)
    - release of blocked customs document
    regarads,
    Katsumi

    Hello Katsumi,
Some further info to what has been provided above, here is how the following function groups align with data from the ECC system:
    /SAPSLL/API_1006 -> Business partners
    /SAPSLL/API_6800 -> Customs documents
    /SAPSLL/API_6850 -> Products
For each group there usually is a function module for individual or mass update, e.g.
    /SAPSLL/API_6850_SYNCH
    /SAPSLL/API_6850_SYNCH_MASS
The function modules in these function groups are remotely-enabled (i.e., they are BAPIs).
It is, thus, true to say that GTS can interface with non-SAP systems. Some GTS users have done this. But you have to use some sort of connector technology to build up the proxy and call the function modules (e.g. JCo) from your non-SAP system directly.

    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=744043
SAP CONNECTORS:- Basically Connectors are like middlewares , that we use to connect to the backend system including Non SAP systems also. Will try to explain it to u with some examples of SAP Connectors:-
    a) SAP Business Connectors:-
A middleware application based on the B2B integration server from webMethods.
The SAP Business Connector enables both bi-directional synchronous communication and asynchronous communication between SAP applications and SAP and non-SAP applications.
The SAP Business Connector makes all SAP functions that are available via BAPIs or IDocs accessible to business partners over the Internet as an XML-based service.
The SAP Business Connector uses the Internet as a communication platform and XML or HTML as the data format. It integrates non-SAP products by using an open, non-proprietary technology.
    b) SAP Java Connector:-
SAP Java Connector (SAP JCo) is a middleware component that enables the development of SAP-compatible components and applications in Java. SAP JCo supports communication with the SAP Server in both directions: inbound calls (Java calls ABAP) and outbound calls (ABAP calls Java).
SAP JCo can be implemented with Desktop applications and with Web server applications.
SAP JCo is used as an integrated component in the following applications:
    1) SAP Business Connector, for communication with external Java applications
    2) SAP Web Application Server, for connecting the integrated J2EE server with the ABAP environment.
SAP JCo can also be implemented as a standalone component, for example to establish communication with the SAP system for individual online (web) applications.
    To Know more go through,
    SAP Java Connectors
    II) ALE Concept:-
ALE is not restricted to communication between SAP systems, it can also be used for connecting SAP Systems to non-SAP systems.
By using IDocs as universal information containers, ALE can reduce the number of different application interfaces to one single interface that can either send IDocs from an SAP system or receive IDocs in an SAP system.
SAP certified Translator Programs can convert IDoc structures into customer-defined structures.
Alternatively, the RFC interface for sending and receiving IDocs can be used in non-SAP systems.
In both cases you need the RFC Library of the RFC Software Development Kit (RFC-SDK).
This link gives a great insight into landscape for Connectivity to Non-SAP systems:-
    SAP to Non-SAP systems
III) Communication Between SAP Systems and External (Non-SAP) Systems using RFC:-
When you use RFC for communication with an external (non-SAP) system, you can also implement the SAP Java Connector or the SAP .Net Connector for the conversion of data. However, there are no specific security requirements for these components, since they only perform internal system conversion functions.
The additional security recommendations for communication with external systems in this section make particular reference to cases where an external system is used as a server (SAP calls the external system). If you use an external system as a client (the external system calls SAP), the appropriate SAP-specific security mechanisms are implemented on the SAP side.
This link explains in detail all the security considerations you need to take for connecting to an External Non SAP system like, User administration, Network Security etc.
Communication Between SAP Systems and External (Non-SAP) Systems using RFC

  • Integrating SAP UI5 application in Portal through LPD_Cust gives error

    Hi Team,
In our scenario we are calling sap UI5 application in portal through LPD_Cust . We receive error SAP UI5 mobile is not supported in your browser . When we call same application through portal directly it opens properly( In both cases we are using same page and iView).
We have set the property of iview in portal as open in header less window in standard mode. But in Lpd_cust we don't have option of open in standard window.
Is there any work around available which launches application properly.

I think you are experiencing problems thru the document mode of your browser.
    The Quirks of Browser Rendering
    1) If you are running ldp_cust, you could open the page properties in a new window.
    2) set the document mode for the portal: Ajax Framework Page - Portal - SAP Library
    iView: Browser Document Mode ( com.sap.portal.BrowserDocumentMode )
This iView adds an X-UA-Compatible header into the framework page that affects the Browser Mode and the Document Mode in Microsoft Internet Explorer. The default value is IE=EmulateIE7 that sets the Browser Mode in Microsoft Internet Explorer to IE7 Compatibility View and the Document Mode toQuirks .
If you are supporting IE9 standards mode, use IE=Edge. Remember that ALL applications in your portal need to support this!
    3) See if the problem is the document mode. When you open the SAP UI5 application, press F12 and change the browser mode to Standards.

    Hi Michael,
there are different ways of accessing the SAP backend system from an iView developed with the PDK for .NET. You can use
    - the SAP Connector for Microsoft .NET (design time supported only in VS 2003, runtime works in VS 2005)
    - Web Services if your SAP system is running on Web AS 6.40
    - Web Services via XI/PI or BizTalk Server
    - 3rd party adapters
    - Enterprise Services
If you browse through the forum and sdn.sap.com of www.microsoft.com/sap you will find a lot of information and pros/cons for the different methods of how to connect to the SAP system.

    HI,
    See
    1) Request is sent from the Portal.
    2) Web Dynpro application is called through the URL.
    3) Web Dynpro app makes use of Web Service based Model in sending SOAP request to XI.
    4) SOAP adapter converts the incoming SOAP message into XI Message.
    5) Synchronous call is made from XI to R3 backend using RFC adapter.
    6) Response is mapped and routed back as SOAP message.
Necessary design steps in interface objects, mapping objects and Business process are created according to the functional requirements.
Sender Soap Communication channel is setup in Configuration along with other essential configuration steps.
WSDL is generated for the message interface in Integration Directory using Tools-->Define Web service.
Override the default URL with following while generating WSDL.

  • SSO to mulitple SAP GUI based systems in the Portal

    Hi Experts,
I need to create links for multiple SAP Systems (based on the SAP GUI) in the portal and implement SSO for them. Can someone tell me where and how to place these links in the portal? Is there a standard approach for this, like a "Systems" iview or something?
    Regards,
    Shobhit

    Hi,
So have you created 5 diiferent systems on Portal corresponding to your backend systems :
    SAP ERP Dev
    SAP ERP Qua
    SAP ERP Prd
    SAP CRM Dev
    SAP SEM Dev
Once you create the systems and the alias to these systems, you can create 5 iviews, one for each of these systems using SAP transaction iviews. The transaction code could be S000.
To learn how to create systems and SAP Transaction iviews, use these links :
    <b>Creating system :</b> http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/ec/0fe43d19734b5ae10000000a11405a/content.htm

The above links should help you create SAP systems and their aliases.
Then you need to create SAP Transaction iviews:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/88/266a3e54a2e946e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
To open these iviews as a pop-up or in a new window, set the following property for each of these iviews in the property category "Drag and Relate" : Launch in New Window = Display in separate window.
Set the <b>permission Read for Group Everyone</b> for each of these iviews.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Sunil
