If you don't want to install another application, you can apparently with beautiful/gears:
-- {{{ Wallpaper
if beautiful.wallpaper then
    for s = 1, screen.count() do
        --gears.wallpaper.maximized(beautiful.wallpaper, s, true)
        if s < 2 then
          gears.wallpaper.maximized("path_to_image_one", s, true)
        else
          gears.wallpaper.maximized("path_to_image_two", s, true)
        end
    end
end

  • Play Quicktime file on extended mode with 2 monitors using fullscreen

    I have content that plays in QuickTime that was designed to run on 2 displays using extended mode. Whenever I full screen it defaults to only using one of the displays.

    Here, this might help you. I was having problems copying to my Lacie external hard drive, too. I contacted Lacie and this was the response I received - which I followed and have now been able to move all my imovie, idvd, quicktime, etc. files to the Lacie:
    The default formatting on these drives is FAT32, compatible with both Mac and PC. However, FAT32 has some limitations-it will not hold any single file larger than 4GB and it does not like filenames with any other characters other than A-Z, a-z, 0-9, periods and underscores. Mac
    OS 10.1.x and 10.2.x will not mount large FAT32 volumes.
    The Mac Extended format does not have any of these limitations as it is the Mac-native format. If you will not be sharing this drive with a PC at all, reinitialize the drive as follows. You will need to copy off
    any data you need temporarily as this will erase the drive.
    OS X - Initializing with Disk Utility (will erase the drive)
    1. Open the Disk Utility found the Utilities folder.
    2. On the left, select the drive (not the volume below it).
    3. On the right, select the Partition tab.
    4. Under Volume Scheme, set it to the number of partitions desired(usually Mac OS Extended).
    5. Set the format you desire.
    6. It is not necessary to check the OS 9 Drivers check box.
    7. Once you have the drive set up how you desire, click on the Partition button in the lower right.
    8. It should only take a few moments to complete, and when done, the drive will mount on the desktop.

    I think you are sailing in uncharted waters with those kind of modifications.
    I am only guessing, but if you have not already done so,  do a PRAM reset and then trash your FCP preferences.

    My understanding is the Mac is doing a ram/hardware test during the grey screen, if the card you added had additional memory, then it is very likely the test will take longer - but I am no hardware expert.

  • Is Adobe Flash compatible with WinXP using `Dual Core CPUs ??

    Is Adobe Flash compatible with WinXP using Dual Core CPUs ??
    I have this in my current system
    WinXP 32bit SP3
    Asus M2N68-AM Plus motherboard
    AMD X2 7850 Black Edition Dual Core CPU
    2GB DDR2
    WD Caviar SE16 500GB SATA drive
    Onboard VGA **only**
    I keep having consistent problems using this new motherboard with a Dual Core CPU
    My new motherboard keeps crashing randomly while watching video online.
    I can watch a video for about 2 min or even 20min and then the PC randomly crashes
    I get this weird mosaic pattern on the screen whenever it crashes and then I have to press Reset to Reboot
    And it **only** crashes after streaming a video on any of the websites, YouTube, CBS.com, NBC.com, Hulu.com etc, etc
    My last PC never crashed while watching a video online - it was just slow since Adobe player is a hog -- and it was still a 1.8GHZ CPU !!
    My last PC is still using version 10.1 for the Adobe Flash player -- and it ***never*** crashes
    The most I ever see happen on that one is that the player might occasionly crash in the video window and the error message says to reload the Flash player.
    Then I tried this remedy of disabling the Hardware Acceleration in the Adobe Settings  -- but no luck still.
    I even downgraded to 10.1, then 10.0 and it still keeps getting these random crashes while watching video
    I'm wondering if WinXP 32bit is really compatible with Adobe Flash when using a Dual Core CPU
    Before I plunk down $100 for Win7, I'm thinking about trying Ubuntu and see what luck I have.
    I haven't seem anything to the contrary yet.

    What browser & version do you use?
    How exactly does that "crash" manifest itself?  What exact error message are you getting?
    Have you tried to update the device drivers for your graphics/video/display adapter?

  • New window opens in main monitor when using dual screen

    I am using dual screens and my "main screen" is on the left. Ever since Firefox updated to 32.0.1 on Monday I've been having this issue. Before the update, I would have my main Firefox window opened on the left and, when I click on a link to open a new window, it would open on the right screen. Now, it will only open on the left screen, where the other window is. If I drag the original window to the right monitor and open a link, the new window will open on the right monitor. But once I drag the original window back to the left, new links will open in the left again.
    Before if I had this problem, I would simply drag the new window to the right monitor, then back to the left and close it. Then click the link again and it would open in the right. Kind of a work around I guess. But since the update, even this will not work. Any suggestions? Or is this a new function of the updated version? Is there a way for me to go back to the previous version? Any help is appreciated!

    Hi hollytotheg,
    I understand that links opening in new windows are opening in the active screen, not on the right, second monitor.
    This may be helpful: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/monitor-master/] the search recommends this.
    However I would also recommend suggesting an enhancement in input about dual monitor new window restriction.

  • External monitor simply not working - including with external dock (dual screen)

    I can't get the external monitor (aka dual screen) to work on my T60 via the VGA port. My model is currently running Windows XP and has a ATI Radeon X1300 video card.
    I'm 6 months out of warantee (although this problem started while in warantee but I can't convince Lenovo of that).
    I've tried the following:
    - ensuring "extend my monitor onto this desktop" in windows display properties
    - disabling/enabling Presentation Director and trying all the schemes
    - setting all different combinations of modes for resolution/colour on both (LCD + VGA) monitor
    - trying two different monitors and cables (which did work with other computers)
    - Updating the video drivers (from the Lenovo website) and Presentation Director to the latest versions
    I then figured it might be a hardware fault, so I tried to see if the external monitor was activated on bootup. I made sure the "LCD + VGA" option on boot was selected in BIOS. Still no joy.
    Finally, I figured the actual VGA connector was broken so I bought a compatible mini docking station (port replicator) and attached the VGA cable to that and even that didn't work.
    What on earth could be wrong if it's not the software and not the VGA connector? The video card is working as its powering the LCD display?
    Is my only option to give it in to repair (I can't afford that)?

    Does the external connections and cables work with another system. I'd do that first.
    If all of it works with another system then it could be drivers or internal things but try that first.
    There are some driver updates on the Lenovo site. Make sure your BIOS are updated and such.
    Good Luck,
    Yup, checked the cables and monitor with another system (actually with the same laptop using a USB->VGA adaptor which isn't a long-term fix)
    Also updated to all the latest driver including a BIOS update (which I forgot to mention).

  • Dual screen wallpaper in Awesome

    Hey,
    Not sure it's the right place to ask but here goes..
    I'm using Arch with the Awesome WM. I have a dual screen setup where both screens share the same Awesome config (so, ONE screen {} in .awesomerc).
    I set the wallpaper with feh by adding "eval `cat $HOME/.fehbg` &" to .xinitrc and my problem is that it only sets the wallpaper on my primary screen.
    What I want is two different wallpapers on two different screens/monitors. How is this done?
    Also, I'm able to set the wallpapers in both screens by manually running "feh --bg-center file1.jpg" in one and "feh --bg-center file2.jpg" in the other one.

  • Maximising 2 programs using dual screen on mac mini.

    I am using a mac mini with 2 screens and am trying to use it like my pc. I want to maximise a program on one screen and keep the second screen free to do the same. This works well on pc but not with my mini?
    When I mazimise one program it creates a grey image on my second screen, making it useless for anything else.
    Is it possible to maximise 2 programs (one on each screen) as is easily done on a pc?
    How does this work?
    Thank you.

    It depends on the App's and setup that you are using..?
    Have a look at > Using Dual Displays on Mac OS X: The Experience
    or something at > Dual Monitor Setup with Apple Mac Mini-YouTube
    It's hard to fully explain, but from what I'm seeing not all App's allow full screen mode without interfering with the dual screen setup and you might have to run most App's in maximum window size instead.

  • Using dual screens cannot play sound on either screen

    I have an HP Envy TS m6 sleekbook.
    I use 2 screens for work.  If I want to play audio on either screen, it doesn't play anything.  I'm not sure whats going on or what settings I need to tinker with or change.

    Hi brokerbizwash,
    Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
    I understand that you are using two monitors, but not getting any audio on either one when connected to your HP Envy m6 Sleekbook.  I will try my best to help you with this issue. Although you have two monitors the audio should be working from your Sleekbook. Has the audio been working and now has stopped.
    Here is a document for No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8) that explains how to use the Troubleshooting tool to check your audio.
    I hope this helps, please let me know how it goes.

  • Dual screen wallpaper

    I was just wondering if anyone has any copies of good wallpaper, arch linux based or otherwise, for dual screen setups (something like 2506x1024).  I made a very very basic one ( http://www.equivalentsystems.net/arch.png ) to tie me over.  But I am an econometrician not an artist and would really appreciate a better background.

  • Using HP pavillion 22bw in extend mode with Dell laptop, sometimes my wall paper disappears.

    Sometimes it disappears on the Pavillion monitor, sometimes on the laptop screen and sometimes both.  I refresh the screen and it comes back although it may take a couple of tries.

    Driver problem for monitor?  for display on Dell PC?

    Hello SuLuB,
    Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
    I understand that the background of your computer disappears from the display of the monitor, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
    Since the wallpaper disappears on both the monitor and the notebook screens, I recommend following this document on Connecting a Monitor, Projector or TV (Windows 8). This should ensure that your monitor is configured for optimum performance. In addition, you can also find the best resolution for your display by referring to the Product Specifications Guide for your monitor.
    To ensure that your drivers are configured accordingly, I recommend contacting Dell Support for help updating your graphics drivers.
    Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

  • Having screen rendering / memory problems with Microsoft Outlook 2013 and full screen mode with large 2560x1440 dual monitors

    MS Outlook 2013 seems to work fine for a while until a) enough time passes or b) I have multiple MS Outlook windows open. Then I start to see all sorts of graphical issues ranging from certain parts of the outlook window not rendering to certain functions
    locking etc.  Occassionally, when I decrease from full screen I get the screens to render correctly, making me think there's something unique with full screen mode that is causing the issue.   There seems to me to be quite a bit of memory issues
    with this version.
    I have a beast of a graphics card, 32gb of RAM, and a fast SSD, so don't think its the machine.
    Thoughts?

    Hi,
    Does this happen to other applications?
    If it's specific to Outlook, consider to check the hardware acceleration option:
    Go to FILE tab -> Options -> Advanced -> Display -> Disable hardware graphics acceleration, turn this option on or off to check the result.
    If the issue persists, please also consider whether any 3rd-party add-ins are interfering with Outlook, we can start Outlook in Safe Mode:
    Press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter.
    If there's no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which caused the problem.

  • Nitrogen wallpaper switcher: Dual Screen wallpaper via bash?

    I've grown quite attached to a little script for my laptop that lets me randomly switch the background with nitrogen:
    #! /bin/bash
    WALLPAPERS="/home/elias/Pics/BackgroundShow"
    ALIST=( `ls -w1 $WALLPAPERS` )
    RANGE=${#ALIST[@]}
    let "number = $RANDOM"
    let LASTNUM="`cat $WALLPAPERS/.last` + $number"
    let "number = $LASTNUM % $RANGE"
    echo $number > $WALLPAPERS/.last
    nitrogen --set-zoom-fill --save $WALLPAPERS/${ALIST[$number]}           <---------- Just need to specify the screen here...
    I've had no luck finding how to change just screen 1 or 2 without the GUI.  If there's a way, I would just have a separate hotkey for both.  man nitrogen and nitrogen --help say nothing about setting for a particular screen.
    Any help would be appreciated

    I'm playing with imlibsetroot, but it doesn't appear to have the same "zoom-fill" function, and if you set one at a time, it clears the other screen.  So you can shuffle both with this:
    #! /bin/bash
    WALLPAPERS="/home/elias/Pics/BackShow"
    ALIST=( `ls -w1 $WALLPAPERS` )
    RANGE=${#ALIST[@]}
    let "number = $RANDOM"
    let LASTNUM="`cat $WALLPAPERS/.last` + $number"
    let "number = $LASTNUM % $RANGE"
    echo $number > $WALLPAPERS/.last
    let "number2 = $RANDOM"
    let LASTNUM="`cat $WALLPAPERS/.last` + $number2"
    let "number2 = $LASTNUM % $RANGE"
    echo $number2 > $WALLPAPERS/.last
    imlibsetroot -x 0 -s $WALLPAPERS/${ALIST[$number]} -x 1 -s $WALLPAPERS/${ALIST[$number2]}
    the option -s scales the image until it fills either the x or y dimension leaving black space.  Of course I could crop or limit myself to images with the right aspect ratio, but that's not a solution.  The options seem fairly extensive, but I don't see a way to emulate "zoom-fill":
    usage: imlibsetroot [globalopts] {[screenopts] [imageopts] <filename>}+
    global options
    --help print usage information
    --version print version information
    --composite combine the images with the current root window
    --display DDD connect to X display DDD
    --store store the new root image to ~/.background.png
    --store FILE store the new root image to FILE
    --storeslices store the root image of each xinerama display
    as a seperate file. (Implies --store .)

    -s f scale pixmap to the current screen's size

  • How do i access advanced black & white print mode with CS6 using OS 10.8

    We are using CS6 at our printmaking facility and recently upgraded our workstation to Mac OS 10.8.5. Now we are not able to access the advanced black & white print mode anymore when printing gray scale images. Is anyone else having this problem and what is the work-around? Thanks, David
