Extension of Infoobject length

Hi Experts,
We are taking email field from R/3 table which is 240 char long.We
want to use that as an infoobject in BI side. But in BI characterstic infoobject does not allow charcters more than 60.
Can anyone suggest how can we use that field in BI system.

Check the below links:

  • How to change Infoobject length in Datasource - Netweaver2004s

We are using Netweaver 2004s and when I try to load data using flatfile getting the below error.
I have mapped legacy field HSTDRWMO of type NUMERIC 8 with BW field ZMONDRW of type QTY.
I am getting the following error:::
Error 'The argument ' .00          .' cannot be interpreted as a number' while assigning character to application structure *****
In DATASOURCE I tried to change the length of the BW infoobject in the length box from 17 to 8 and it is not allowing to change. When I change, it is automatically resets back to original length.
Is there any other way to change the length in this screen rather than changing the infoobject itself.
Your help in this regard is highly appreciated.

    Hi Sivaraman,
let's have another look on Ron's reply:
As he said, a datasource consists of fields (see tab "fields", column "fields"), not infoobjects. There, I understand, you typed in your field name ZMONDRW. Then, I suppose, you typed into the column "template infoobject" the same name. That's why BI uses the length etc of the infoobjct ZMONDRW for your field in the datasource.
You do not need to fill in a "template infoobject". In that case you are free to define your field ZMONDRW in your datasource. I hope that might help you.

  • Impact on Changing Infoobject Length

    Hi all,
I have a requirement to increase the length of a navigation attribute BUSINESS OWNER  from  5 to 10 ,BUSINESS OWNER is a navigation attribute of 0CUSTOMER, now my quetion is by increaing length will it be any impact on 0CUSTOMER, CUBES and Multiproviders,I tested in test system it is not showing any impact please suggest ??
    Thanks
    Nag

    Hi Nag,
in general you do need to delete data from IO you want to enlarge/reduced its length. You have to just run TA RSMDEXITON right after the change is done. This TA does filling/deleting of leading zeros/characters for particular IO. Notice that if IO is referenced in other IO they will affected as well. All objects that are using those IOs will be inactivated. This includes InfoProviders (cubes, dsos, ..) and all the transformations, rules that are involved within flows...
It is not easy to get it all working after such a change.

  • Infoobject Length changes with ALPHA conversion

    Hi,
I am facing a problem with changing IO length changes.I need to change the charecteristic XCUST of Length 20 with alpha conv to XCUST of Length 30 with alpha conv.
When i am trying to do that sytem is asking me to delete the master data as well as transaction data.
In the cube i have 3 yrs data, that shuld not be disturbed.
Dear experts is there any way out for this prob. Please suggest with the steps to be followed.
    Thanks,
    CHVR.

    Hi,
As far as i know, you cannot change the settings of a characteristic without deleting the content.
I passed trought the same situation and i had to delete the master data + ods data and then change it.
    Sorry.

  • Problem in length display of the infoobject?

    Good morning Folks,
I got an issue with the output length of the infoobject(say - zlmpred - Char(60)). BW Version - 3.5.
For this infoobject am using a transfer routine to populate the data from flatfile.
    Something like this,
    if TRAN_STRUCTURE-/BIC/ZLMPRED CA '/'.
    SPLIT TRAN_STRUCTURE-/BIC/ZLMPRED at '/' into var1 var2 var3 var4.
concatenate var1 var2 into vfinal separated by '/'.
    RESULT = vfinal.
    else.
    RESULT = ' '.
    Endif.
Problem : When I run the infopackge to load the data, only 10char are getting loaded into ZLMPRED.
Just to test the infoobject length, I have removed the routine and gave a direct mapping to ZLMPRED. But even still its picking up
only 10chars.....but the value in the flatfile contains a length of 50chars.
I am not able to figure it out. Where might be the problem?
Yours assistance is greatly appreciated.....as this issue is important for me to resolve.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes the routine is completely removed.
Can you bit explain about the info object properties in BW.
    Object of type Char
    length - 60.
    No attribute, No text.
and this object is an attribute for Item client infoobject.
    Thank you.

  • The QA process for new extension submission.

Just have a few general questions about the process for new extension submission. I submitted a new extension to the exchange on June 21, but have yet to see the status of my item change. What's the typical turnaround time for the QA team on new extensions? As well, should there be any issue with a new submission, what kind of feedback is typically given? Thanks to those who've gone through the submission experience, and can answer my questions.
    kindest regards,
    Johannes

To follow up on this question. On August 23rd my extension was approved. Not sure if this is the typical amount of time to expect for a submission to be approved as this is the only extension I've submitted so far. I never recieved any requests to change my extension, so the length of time wasn't due to changes that needed to be made on my part. Based on the large number of extensions approved on the same date as mine, my guess is that Adobe waits till they have a fair amount of submissions to QA, and then puts them through the QA process in batches.

  • Error while loading data from application server

    Hi all,
Am facing a problem while loading data from application server.
The error i get is ....
*" The argument ' Rental/Lease ' cannot be interpreted as a number while assigning character to application structure*.
'Rental/Lease' is a value for a character infoobject length 30. I checked for the sequence of fields in data source and the sequnce of values am receiving in application server and the sequence match.
when i copy these values into a CSV onto a desktop and load, load is successful.
Please let me know your views.
    Thanks&Regards,
    Praveen

It looks like the system is trying to convert Rental/Lease to a number format.   Is the info object type CHAR or NUMC or ???  I would look there.
Also, make  sure / is in RSKC.

    Manuel,
When mapping relations to pre-defined schemas using application identity,
you must use the '<fieldname>-data-column' extension syntax discussed in
    http://www.solarmetric.com/Software/Documentation/2.2.6/manual.html#metadata
    _extensions.
Additionally, in general, you should not have foreign key fields declared in
your java code as well as relations to other objects. For example, in
PermissionGroupMap, you should just have a relation to UserGroup, and no
groupOid field -- the foreign key information will be handled by JDO, and
should not be user-accessible except through the UserGroup relation.
So, something like this is probably more like what you want (I've removed
    some fields for brevity):

    <extension key="groupOid-data-column" value="GROUP_OID"

  • 0CUSTOMER Special Characters Error in Load

    Hi Experts,
I am loading Customer Master data from R/3 into BW via 0CUSTOMER_ATTR extractor. Some user-entered fields in R/3 such as NAME, NAME1, STREET etc have some special characters - which look like a square.
This data used to come over into BW w/o errors. Now I have added some date fields to the extract eg CREATED_ON. All records that have the special characters now show-up incorrectly; as in ALL fields after the special characters have shifted to the left. So a few characters from CREATED_BY have spilled into CREATED_ON, Telephone Ext has spilled into Telephone Num and so on.
This is how the data is coming into the PSA from R/3. So I can't even check for special characters in the trans routine. ( The data is already bad in the PSA).I checked RSA3. there is no such spillage on the R/3 side. The spilling of data is happening between R/3 and BW.
Any Idea whats going on here and how to fix this?
    thanks,
    Kartik.

I think you have to check infoobject length in BI and the order of the infoobjects in the infosource compared to extractor fields.Any incosistency here may cause the spillage of data.
The new fields created in R/3 especially with varying lengths of data seems to be causing the trouble..

  • Bex report doesn't display full text information......

    Hi Experts,
My bex report is not displaying full text information.
I have set that particular infoobject length as 40 and also have selected long text and Long Description in Bex Tab of the InfoObject.
In my DSO the data is available in complete lenght but in my Bex report it just displays half information
Instead of displaying Service Order Released its displays Service Order Rel
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue please.
    Thanks

    Hello,
Setting up the BEx Property for Object, is not sufficient enough to display in the query output. You can always overwrite the object level settings in the query designing.
Moreover, when you create a query, system always overwrite your object level settings and apply the query level settings.
Make sure, you have selected Long Text in the query for that characteristic.

  • How to convert time from (hh:mm:ss) to (hhmmss) in CSV file

    Hi Experts,
I have a CSV file where there is time column which displays time like hh:mm:ss
But the input I should give for loading the data is hhmmss
The amount of records that I have is more than 2 lakhs. I tried many ways to convert the time but I'm unsuccessful.
Can anyone tell me how do I convert the format please.
    Thanks

    Hi,
You can create a custom infoobject length 6 (say mytime) to read the data from csv file.
In the field routine assign the 6 character length info object to the required time IO(system time) with routine.
    Inside the field routine...
    result = source_fields-mytime.
The system will take care of conversion as per the user master setting.
    Thanks,
    Jugal.
