Folks!
The below fix works great when the change is done on the current user (accessing the PC).
How this REG be applied to ALL USERS?
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

This is corporate machine where users cannot change registries. We can run REGEDIT as Admin and make change to Current_User, but this does not expand to All Users.
Please please....Help!

yes, it's easy - change a machine to the desktop you want (the image must be on all the machines, with the same name, of course), find ~/library/preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist Copy that to your server (or just put it on a flash drive) In workgroup manager select preferences - details - "add". Navigate to that plist. (Optional - hit "edit" and cut and past from "often" to "always", then the user cannot change the desktop at all, if you leave it in "often" it will reset next log-on.)

Excel 2010 changes relative link paths to absolute in files synced with Offline Files in Windows 7

Hello! I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this problem: I have a large number of Excel 2010 and 2003 files in a folder on my file server. This whole folder is also synced to my computer using Offline Files in Windows 7. I have a lot of references between
cells in different Excel files, and all referenced workbooks are physically in the same folder. This all works nicely when I create these files at work - all file paths referenced in the cells are created as relative paths and the documents open correctly.
This is, I understand, the expected and default behavior when Excel creates links. When I edit these files at home, nothing seems odd until I get back to work and sync these files back to the file server. At this point, I discovered that Excel 2010 has, when
I saved the files while away from the corporate network, changed /all/ the cell references in any offline-edited Excel files to point at absolute paths, and that these absolute paths point to somewhere in my %APPDATA% structure. So whenever I come to work
and I try to open an Excel file that I have recently worked with offline, I get a bunch of error messages about referenced files that are missing, although clearly they exist in the same folder as the file I've opened, and I must edit all the file references
again, whereupon they are again created correctly as relative paths (since all files exist in the same folder), which are promptly mangled into absolute C:\....\Offline Files\.....\..... paths whenever I save them at home (and since that works too, I don't

according to MSKB is that links are created as relative paths, so why does it change to absolute whenever Offline Files are involved? I know Offline Files only syncs, it doesn't actually change the files, so I can conclude that Excel is the program at fault
here. Is there a fix for this, or a known workaround? Because frankly, this bug makes it impossible for me to work in any advanced manner with linked Excel files. The sad thing is that this worked perfectly fine with Office 2003 and Windows XP. Is there a
patch for this problem that I might have missed (I am running the latest Service Pack and I get Office updates from Microsoft Update). If not, is there a workaround I can use to prevent Excel from corrupting my links when I edit the files offline?

Linked Excel 2010 worksheet will not update unless I open it

Hello all, and advanced thank yous for your help.
I have created a performance dashboard for my team at an insurance company that tracks 7 different metrics on an Excel 2010 worksheet. I enter the data on the Supervisor level worksheet, and have this linked up and down so my manager can
see all the metrics from the different teams at a glance, and any one associate can see their metrics at any time, all with me only entering the data once on my sheet. To give the associates privacy, I have restricted permissions to the Supervisor worksheet
to management only, and their worksheet to themselves and the site owner (me) only.
The issue arises when the associates open their sheet, they do not get updates from the Supervisor sheet. There is a Security Warning that tells them that there are non-functioning links. Whenever I go into any of the linked worksheets,
they work perfectly, and when I save them after opening them, the updated linked info remains.
It appears that anyone who doesn't have access to the sourced worksheet can't get updates, but the links work perfectly if you
do have access to the source.
I could go in and manually open and save the associate sheets every time, but this defeats the purpose of the setup.

MOSS 2010 Shared Review Not Connecting For All Reviewers (Acrobat 9 and X (Std and Pro) and Reader9)

I am using SharePoint 2010 for Shared Review. Most of the testing has been successful with a few minor problems. The biggest has been that some are not getting the connection request. The document for review opens immediately either in the user's browser or Adobe Acrobat or Reader. We have not been able to nail down the reason yet. But, it has happened on systems running Acrobat 9 Pro and Acrobat X Pro. We have had success with others using Acrobat X Pro and Reader 9.
What I am most confused on is why some of our users are not getting the request to connect to the SharePoint workspace to do their review. If they go through Windows Explorer to where the file is located to open it directly, it asks the user to Check Out the file and then Save & Continue. If they do this, they seem to lose the ability to publish their comments directly to the server. They don't even get the options to check for new comments. The file is opened and they are able to work with it like a normal file.
What could we have done wrong that caused this? Each the users has the appropriate permissions to the SharePoint site. I have noticed in the tracker that the two that had the issues don't have their name or title appear. I checked both of them in the Identiy section of the Preferences and their name, title, organization and email are all missing. Only their UserID is shown. Could this be part of it? We were all using the same intranet wireless system. All users were able to open the review file. When someone receives the link for review through the email, does the link verify through the email address listed in the prefences?

To answer your questions:
1. Do all reviewers have a local copy of the review file, or is it kept at a shared location and everyone is commenting on it.
- I have tried it both ways with the same results. Our preference is to keep the PDF in a shared location so that all reviewers can see each others' comments. (Since the problem began, we have lost that capability, and the "semi-workaround" is to email each reviewer the PDF, each reviewer makes comments locally, and emails it back to the writer. This is less than ideal as each review cannot see each other's comments... However, I was able to publish them "on behalf".
2. Are you only having trouble with publishing new comments or is it that you cannot see earlier added comments also.
Reviewers are unable to publish their newly-added comments as there is no Publish button/icon. If I have published another's comments on their behalf, they can see them. However, they cannot Reply - as the Reply button is disabled.
3. Are there some specific files with which you are having trouble or is it a generic problem.
It happens with all files, so it is generic. Anyone who has Reader 9 has no Publish button when opening a shared review generated from Acrobat 8.
Thanks for any help you can provide. We are hoping the problem resolves when we upgrade to Acrobat 9 but that alas will not be until sometime in the new year, hopefully.

I am not a developer, so pardon me if I misunderstood this question. I thought screens and other repository objects are client independent. That means the change should be evident in all clients without a need to transport.
Is this to do with security by any chance ( though it seems unlikely )? Can the other users see the change in the original client in which the request was made? That should help you determine whether the problem lies with the transport or outside. Also you can check the contents of the transport in SE01 and see if it holds the kind of data that you are expecting it to. I am guessing you have already generated the screen after saving the changes.

Editing the master page of My Site - Changes not visible to all users

Hi!
I opened the mysite.mydomain.com site on my SP designer and made some changes in a master page located in the Master Pages library. I checked in the changes and now I can see them when I open the site on my browser.
But only when I use the account that made the changes using the designer.
How can I propagate these changes to be visible to all my users?
Publishing features in are enabled already.

This column cannot enforce unique values because this list or document library may contain items that are not viewable by all users.

The above error occurs when I place unique constraint on a column in a custom list. This error only occurs because the custom list has been configured to only allow creaters to view and edit their own list items.
I just can't see why that should prevent SP from placing a unique value constraint though.
One easy workaround would be to place the unique constraint on the SQL Server table that represents this list. However, in a hosted environment, it is not always possible to gain access to the backend server. What is more, I am uncomfortable with this
approach as it may break other parts of SP 2010.
Is there any other approach?

If SharePoint were to enforce uniqueness on a column in a list where users are only allowed to see and edit list items that have created, then you could have a scenario where -
a. user1 tries to add a new item to the list which violates the uniqueness constraint
b. SharePoint reports an error
c. user1 gets to know that there is another item containing the same value in this list
d. this violates the security settings that you configured (each user should be allowed to only see the items that they have created). Now if you change the permissions settings to allow users to SEE all items, but only
edit items that they have created, this error disappears (obviously).
Now getting to the workaround you mentioned (creating a unique constraint on the SQL Server table). This is not going to be possible for numerous reasons -
a. Modifying (or for that matter, even performing SELECT operations on) the SQL Server tables is an unsupported operation and it will definetely break other things in SharePoint, not
to mention that you will lose all support options from Microsoft. However if you don't care about this, then it will still not be technically possible because...
1. SharePoint does not create a new SQL Server table for every list/library.
2. If you did get around to enforcing a unique constraint in the one single table that SharePoint uses for all lists, then you will be enforcing this constraint on each and every list in all the sites and in all the site
collections that are assigned to that content database.

How to change the download destination for all users in a same machine?

This is the scenario:
My application is going to be deployed in PCs with high rotation and politics inside the company those machines can't persist user information outside a session. This means that an user always is a new user in a PC, and when he logs off, his information (.../documents and settings/UserName/) is deleted by a central machine.
The problem is that my users always have to download the application by JWS, because JWS saves (or caches) the application inside user folders.
I know that it's possible to change download destination by a logged user, not like a global configuration.
My question is:
It is possible to configure the JWS properties (or something) to ensure that there will be only one .jar per machine not per user in the machine?

Fonts not appearing under all users

I have recently performed a clean install on one of our G5s. When I installed the our corporate fonts, the only appear in Font Book under the admin account and not the other user account.
Whenever I try to add them to Font Book in the other user account, they still don't appear.
I have installed them in /Library/Fonts folder, so assumed they would be available to all users.
I'd appreciate any ideas.

Hi, Maff. Welcome to the Discussions.
1. Double-check that they are not in the Home > Library > Fonts folder of the Admin account on the affected Mac.
Font Book's preferences specify by default that fonts installed via Font Book are saved in the User collection, i.e. the Home > Library > Fonts folder of the user installing the fonts. If one wants to use Font Book to install the fonts in the Computer collection, i.e. the Macintosh HD > Library > Fonts folder, one must change this in Font Book's preferences.
2. If you did not use Font Book but placed the fonts in Macintosh HD > Library > Fonts folder of the affected Mac yourself, assure that:
• The permissions for Others on that folder permits Read Only.
• The permissions for Others on the fonts in question are at least Read Only.
Check the permissions using the Details sub-panel of the Ownership & Permissions panel of the Get Info window of that folder or the fonts in question. If the permissions are incorrect, make changes accordingly using the Others pop-up menu.

SCSM - Service Request Area list - modifications not showing for all users

Hi All
As you cant edit the Service Request Area list, i've settled on changing the default display names to better reflect the categories we want for our SR's. The changes i've made are visible in SCSM on my computer (where i made the changes from), however if
i fire up another instance on a different computer - i can only see the defaults. Anyone seen that before? Typically when i make any sort of change to a list item it is visible for all users.
I'm aware that there is a custom MP out there to allow you to have your own SR Area List, however i was not able to get it to work in our environment (link: http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Custom-Service-Request-e4d40738/view/Discussions#content)

Have you made sure that the selected language in both consoles (the one you are editing from and the one you are testing in) are the same?
When editing lists you will only be asked to save changes (be that changing existing values or adding new ones) if they are stored in a sealed MP - which they should be according to best practice.
If you are not asked which MP to save to then you have already "commited yourself" to a specific MP. You could delete this MP (if there is nothing but the list values in it) or delete them one by one using the console. Then when back to square one the console
will once more ask you which MP to save changes to.

Calendaring not enabled for all users

OK, I am sure I have overlooked something, but why do some of my user have Calendaring enabled when I look at End User Information on the CUPS Server and some do not? All users are setup with the same profiles. But I can't find where to enable it for the other users.

Webdynpro iview Customization not reflecting to all users

In Webdynpro ivew, from Content Administration >> preview >> done some customization by CTRL+Right Click. But when we access that page assigned to a role, customization is reflecting to only that user but not for other users. But we want this customization to be reflected to all users who is accessing that role associated with that webdynpro ivew.
Please help us to resolve this issue

New flash player not working for all users

I have Flash 10.0.22.87 installed on a freshly built Citrix 4.5 PS. When the administrator is signed in, everything works just fine. When my users sign in, they navigate to a webpage that requires flash and it either tells them that Flash is not installed or it prompts them to install (but does nothing when you tell it to).
Did flash player become profile specific with this new release? I have 10.0.12.36 and 9.0.115.0 on my other Citrix servers and they work without issue for all users. I've tried uninstalling with the utility I downloaded from adobe.com and re-installing with the offline activeX control. I've played with the security settings opening thing wide open and it still does not work. There is no different software between the problem server and the other Citrix servers other than this version of Flash.

I am experiencing the same problem on my LAN. Administrator account the app works fine, end users sign in with non admin accounts and it will not work.
I spent some time reading online and found the following instructions on the NET. I tried them and I thought it worked because I was able to log on as a non admin user test account and the flash player worked just fine.
Log in as Admin
2. Download the following zip file from here:

3. Unzip this folder onto your desktop.
4. Drag both files ‘reset_min_all.cmd’ and
‘subinacl.exe’ to your
desktop.
5. Run the reset_min_all.cmd file.
6. It will open a DOS like terminal and start
running through registry
keys.
7. When it is finished it will say “press any key
to continue”.
8. At this point you can install the latest Flash
Player:

I also found 6 different versions of Version 8 that supposedly does not require Admin priveleges but it does. Back to the drawing board.
