External Navigation Control with Flash

I have several multi-path training courses running in Captivate 3 using the following simple AS2 (Flash CS3) code as buttons at the end of the various paths (child SWF files) that bring the user back to the parent to take another path or take the quiz.
on (release)
            _root.rdcmndGotoSlide = 1; //zero-based array
            _root.rdcmndPause = 1;
            _root.rdcmndResume = 1;
I can easily vary the gotoslide number to direct the user to whichever slide in the parent SWF I want them to go to.
You can probably guess my question. I have upgraded to Captivate 4 and Flash CS4 and I want to do the same thing in AS3 code. I understand that nothing is simple anymore and the ‘on release’ is gone (I can get button code to work using the event handlers) and I know that the _root property has changed but I cannot, for the life of me, find any command to control slide movement and let me jump (or goto) the slide of my choice using Flash AS3 code.
Has anyone out there encountered and possibly fixed this already?

1. For Mobile Phones
You will need an extension for your bluetooth purpose; follow the link below to see a wonderful easy to plug one called "Kuneri Lite"; this is a tutorial of how to implement extra extended features in flash lite for mobile phones, you can also download a sample file there:

  • Some Flash Sites are not displayed with Flash Player 9

    Hello everyone,
    After having upgraded to Flash Player 9 I cannot view some
    flash sites on either FF or IE.
    I have checked around with other users also and they cannot
    see them either.
    Although the page seems to be loading with title etc. it
    remains blank or it shows a blank block where it is supposed to be
    the flash movie.
    The problem is that it only happens to dynamic flash sites
    that load text and images from external documents.
    With Flash Player 8 they worked just fine.
    The problem is that it is our company's page so we want to
    have it up and running for everybody.
    You can check the page here:

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance

    When a customer's business website goes down after installing
    Flash Player 9 he just wants the site back up. First I had to
    figure
    out that they installed the Flash 9 player and then I had to
    go to the Swish site to find out that Swish files won't run right
    on
    the Flash 9 player unless they get patched first. After
    running the downloaded patch on all the swfs on the site (yes
    uploaded
    correct files and cleared the cache) there were still odd
    things happening. I didn't have time to analyze why this was so, I
    just
    had to put the site back up and fast. Now that I have that
    site back up (I have others that will need fixing too, no doubt), I
    will go back and test everything again with Swish.
    There are a whole lot of hours being lost over this
    Swish/Flash9 player issue. Regardless of who's fault it is, there
    are many
    Flash sites down now.

  • External display's brightness can no longer be controlled with external keyboard in 10.8.2

    I can no longer control external display's brightness with external keyboard.
    Until now my external keyboard controlled external display's brightness and MBPr's keyboard MBPr's brightness. Now the only way of changing external display's brightness is via Display preferences which is cumbersome
    Is there any way of going to pre 10.8.2 settings?

    I noticed that the keyboard and tablet were'nt working when plugged into a usb hub or monitor usb port.  I had to plug in the keyboard and tablet into a mbp usb port where they worked.  For some reason, after plugging them back into the usb hub they worked again.  Could just be dumb luck though.

  • Problems with Flash Navigation

    I'm trying to edit a horizontal flash navigation that I found
    on the internet but i'm having some issues. The original file can
    be found
    here.
    The flash pulls menu information from an XML file. To add a
    menu block all I should have to do is add the text to the flash
    file and then add a block of code to the XML file. The issue I'm
    having is that when I attempt to add a 9th main menu item, its
    submenu doesn't display correctly.
    I've been wracking my brain on this one for days and can't
    figure it out. Any help anyone could offer would be greatly
    appreciated.

    Try another name, words like Main or mainFrame are reserved

  • Navigation control only with my custom buttons

    I'm using Captivate 4 and I'd like to create an eLearning course that navigation control goes only through the cutom buttons I create. No auto continue to the next slide, etc. I've deleted the full screen invisible button with continue on it, and I disabled the skin with playback control. If it's just a page turner, it's fine. If you have inteactions using buttons, click box, the "If the user clikcs outside of the button," seems to affect the behavior of the slide. I tried different settings but it still goes to the next slide after clicking on something a few times.
    For example, I tried to set allow attempts to 100 and set No Action After the last attempt. If it works as it says, then you should be able to click on the screen 100 times without activating anything. Then, it should take No action as I asked it to do. But this does not work.
    So, how can I do to create a Captivate course that only navigates with my buttons, menus?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Can you share this screen with me where you are controlling the navigation with those 6 buttons ?
    I am in similar situation with over 120 slides to be built in with action to be controlled by user clicks.
    Thanks.

  • Working with uncompressed XFL files and source control | Learn Flash Professional CS5 & CS5.5 | Adobe TV

    Use the Flash uncompressed XFL file format with a source control system to enable designers and developers to collaborate on Flash projects. Contributors can edit different assets simultaneously and see updated assets as soon as they are checked in.
    http://adobe.ly/x0GHI4

    This is a great overview of sequential use of source control with the xlf format. However, typically in a team setting, team members are working at the same time. Our team has found that many of the xlf files have one or more timestamp related entries that get updated even when no functional changes have occurred. This is particularly true of DOMDocument file, which timestamps changes, marks library elements as expanded or not, and tracks a published history. All of these changes conflict with anyone who is simultaneously working on the xlf. Any tips on how to deal with these issues?

  • Navigation Bar with Segmented Control

    I've been looking everywhere for this, I just don't get it ...
    I'm completly new to iPhone development and the last few days I've been playing around with it.
    Here's what I want: a navigation bar with Segmented controls (like you would see in the App store with 'New' and 'What's Hot') and when you select a segment, a view will be loaded, Just like it is in the App store, and then you can switch between the segments.
    I've been looking and the only thing i've found is how to change the background color:
    - (IBAction)changeSeg {
    if (segControl.selectedSegmentIndex == 0) {
    self.backgroundColor = [UIColor whiteColor];
    if (segControl.selectedSegmentIndex == 1) {
    self.backgroundColor = [UIColor blueColor];
    if (segControl.selectedSegmentIndex == 2) {
    self.backgroundColor = [UIColor greenColor];
    Thanks in advance! (it's probably very simple but I just can't find it)

    I implemented something similar. In my case the view was a UITableView, so I simply set the data source and delegate to a specified UITableViewController based on the segmented control and then reloaded the table.
    If there is a better solution, I would also like to know about it.

  • Problems with flash navigation in Internet Explorer 7

    I have a frameset, the navigation frame uses flash for the
    navigation - basic getURL code with target frame "MAIN" (which is
    the name of the frame I want to target). This worked fine in IE6,
    but when I upgraded to IE7 clicking on the navigation caused it to
    fire off a new window (as if I had given it a target "_blank").
    Has anyone come across a similar problem?
    Sorry if this is a basic question, I am a novice flash user

  • External Version Control usage with SAP

    Hi,
    I am trying to get info on configuring an external version control tool to use with SAP. I am aware of Version Management that is provided by SAP as part of Workbench Organizer and DTR for NetWeaver Developer Studio (for Java programs). However, my requirement is, to configure an external versioning system which can maintain the different versions of the source outside SAP system(not within the SAP repository). This is necessary to recover the system even in case of SAP system crashes also.
    Please let me know if we can integrate any Version Control Software like Perforce or CVS to use with SAP. I like to store ABAP programs, ABAP Data Dictionary objects etc. in it. Please point me to a useful document or resource which explains this in detail (if one is available).
    Any pointers are highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Krishna.

    Thanks for your feedback Nico and Carsten. The feedback on snapshots is very relevant and the sort of feedback that I was looking for.
    I will continue looking at external version control, but at the same time look at snapshots. For example, when doing a checkin operation to checkin to external version control, my script may be able to automatically create a signature snapshot of the object at the same time. Please let me know if, for some reason, that won't be feasible.
    Thanks,
    Gavin

  • Working with data navigation controls

    Hi Experts,
    I am developing an add-on and chose to create and register it as user-defined object in Business One as document type.  I have managed to utilized its features.  However, I am unsuccessful in making the data navigation controls work (next, previous, first, and last record).
    Hope somebody could shed some light on how to properly do it.
    Thanks.

    Hello
    If you using UDO, and building your form based on UDO type the navigation buttons working automatically
    same code for building your form.
    Dim oForm As SAPbouiCOM.Form
                Dim creationPackage As SAPbouiCOM.FormCreationParams
                creationPackage = SBO_Application.CreateObject(SAPbouiCOM.BoCreatableObjectType.cot_FormCreationParams)
    creationPackage.UniqueID = "YOURUDONAME"
                creationPackage.FormType = "YOURUDONAME"
                creationPackage.ObjectType = "YOURUDONAME"
                creationPackage.BorderStyle = SAPbouiCOM.BoFormBorderStyle.fbs_Sizable
                oForm = SBO_Application.Forms.AddEx(creationPackage)
    The important parameter is:
    >creationPackage.ObjectType = "YOURUDONAME"
    and you should provide a fields which is drives the browser object.  This example for Mater Data Type UDO, ITEM UID  is CODE and the browseBy Property of this form is linked to this item UID.
    oItem = oForm.Items.Add("CODE", BoFormItemTypes.it_EDIT)
                oItem.Top = nTop
                oItem.Left = 220
                oItem.Width = 100
                oItem.SetAutoManagedAttribute(BoAutoManagedAttr.ama_Editable, BoAutoFormMode.afm_All, BoModeVisualBehavior.mvb_False)
                oEditText = oItem.Specific
                oEditText.DataBind.SetBound(True, "@UDOTABLENAME", "CODE")
                oForm.DataBrowser.BrowseBy = "CODE"

  • "the activex control for flash player could not be registered" - Solutions Roundup

    I recently ran into this problem on my computer:
    http://at32.s3.amazonaws.com/flash_install_problems2.jpg
    I am a Flash developer (as in I write SWFs, I don't work for Adobe).  and when I updated IE to 10.2, "the activex control for flash player could not be registered".  Since I am a developer, I also have Firefox and Chrome installed, with Flash running without problems.  For a long time now, Internet Explorer has used a different version (ActiveX) to the other browsers, which use plugins.  I am a strong supporter of Flash, it's great to develop with and has a very wide feature set which is growing all the time, unlike fixed technologies/standards.  However, the weakest part is the install process - I don't understand why their is a Download Manager.  Google Chrome does it's best (so far) by managing the install/update process entirely in the background.  Anyway, it was in my best interest to try and get to the bottom of this.
    For the record, on the problem machine I have Windows 7 with IE8, but I have seen almost  identical symptoms with IE9, Windows XP SP3, as well as various  iterations of Flash Player (10.0, 10.1, 10.2 and even some final  editions of version 9).
    First I tried the standard support here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html
    Basically, doing the manual uninstall and manual install of the latest version (without using the download manager, or have IE open).  This did not work.  I also tried the Microsoft "subinacl" program, together with "reset_fp10.bat".  This didn't work either.  However, you should try all of these things first before progressing further.
    A quick note about people who had tried running the following at a command prompt: "secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose"
    I didn't do this, because on investigating further it didn't seem to work with Windows 7, only Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 - though there was a few threads where this had fixed the problem for some users.
    For my solution, it is recommended you use the manual uninstall / installers, so you should have them downloaded ready to use.
    I then heard about problems with permissions in the registry with the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\shockwaveflash.shockwave
    So I opened regedit.exe (start - run - typed "regedit.exe"), navigated to the key and sure enough, I couldn't open it - permission denied - even though I had an administrator account.  If for some reason, you can access this key (and any subkeys), then it's likely the following fix will not resolve the problem.
    I then done further diagnosis, by using Process Monitor to try and install Flash Player, and I got the following:
    http://at32.s3.amazonaws.com/flash_install_problems.gif
    This shows all the access denied errors the Flash Player install was experiencing when trying to write to the registry key.  This confirmed that this was the problem.  I only stress this because several people said it was unwise to tinker with the registry.  Though this is common advice, this is the only known fix for this precise problem at present, since you need to manually adjust the permissions yourself.  I don't know who is at fault here - Microsoft or Adobe - but let's just get Flash fixed...
    The solution:
    Firstly, you may want to backup your registry, or the exact key.  I didn't do this so I've provided no instructions on how to, but it is recommended for the paranoid.  Also make sure as much software is closed down as possible - browsers, IM software, any junk in your system tray. As way of example, I happened to have "BBC iPlayer" installed and running in the background which uses Adobe AIR and Flash Player, so I exited that too.
    1) Open regedit (start - run - type "regedit.exe").  You may need to right click on it and select "Run As Administrator", but I didn't as my account was already administrator.
    2) Navigate to the key. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\shockwaveflash.shockwave
    Click on it to confirm that you cannot access it (you will get an error) - if their are no problems - this probably isn't the cause of your issues.
    3) Right click on it and click Permissions, and ignore any message that may pop up.
    4) Under "Group or Usernames" click "Add".  Type your account name name, or "Administrators" in the box, then "Check Names" to format it correctly, then Ok.
    5) Now on the next screen click the checkbox to enable Full Control (this will also automatically enable "Read" permission too).
    6) Click Advanced, then the "Owner" tab at the top.  You will see that their is no "Current Owner".  This is what we will now fix.
    7) Click on your name to change the owner to (I went for Administrators).  Also enable the checkbox entitled "Replace Owner on subcontainers and objects".  Then click Ok.  You will get an error message, which you can try clicking Retry to, but hit Cancel - this is not a problem.
    8) Click Ok a couple of times and this part of your registry is now fixed.
    9) Now it's a simple case of running the manual Flash uninstall program, then finally the manual Flash installer (for Active X - not the Firefox/Chrome plugin versions).  To my surprise, after a couple of days looking into this - I finally had a solution and Flash in IE once more.  If you are using Firefox too you may find Flash is no longer installed their (the uninstaller removed it).  In this case just install via the Adobe site or try to watch a video on You Tube and you will be prompted or linked to the install.
    Hope this provides a good round up of the possible solutions to this problem.  Hopefully Microsoft or Adobe can find out what causes this issue in the first place so we don't have to go down this route for much longer.  Chrome's implementation of Flash shows how effortlessly things can work!

    They will stay on the screen.  However, Process Monitor is only intended for advanced users.  It is recommended that users try to navigate to the troublesome registry key using regedit, and see if they can access it or not without an error.  This is far easier than trying to use Process Monitor, which is very complicated.
    I used Process Monitor to confirm that it was just that key which was causing the problem, and not others.  Process Monitor is not to be confused with the new Resource Monitor which is accessible via Task Manager in Windows 7 (and possibly Vista).  If you must experiment (and Process Monitor is very useful for diagnosing many deep-level problems if you know what you're looking for) Process Monitor can be downloaded from here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645
    It replaces the older Sysinternals "FileMon" and "RegMon".  For those interested in the technical side, I had to setup a number of filters to be able to get the results display as in the screenshot.  First of all to just show Registry events.  Then to just show events from the manual Flash activeX installer executable.  The I added a filter to show only non-successfull results.  And finally, for the purposes of the screenshot, added a filter to just show those with "Access Denied", since other non-critical errors are also picked up due to missing keys because installation has not yet been fully completed I guess.   When experimenting, most of these filters were applied using the "is not" boolean logic, which will make sense if you experiment with the program.
    Without adding any filters, it picks up so many events (hundreds per second) that it's otherwise unusable.  e.g. 40,000 events within the first few seconds of opening the program. For this reason, I recommend simply using Regedit to diagnose the problem with the particular Flash registry key.

  • Problems with flash transparent drop down menu over html in some browsers

    Hi everyone... this is my first post and it's about an issue
    that's causing me a few problems.
    I'm currently designing/ building my company's web site, the
    test page be viewed here: www.musflashtv.com/test.htm
    1) This layout contains an embeded flash movie (.swf) with a
    transparent background, this is the main navigation.
    The flash navigation has a drop down menu that animates down
    and covers the html page (containing links) below.
    The problem is that in most current browsers such as; Firefox
    2.0.05 (links below template don't work), Netscape 8.1.3
    (navigation drop down and links don't work) and Opera 9.10 (links
    below template don't work), any links just below the 'invisible'
    transparent area coverd by the navigation can't be clicked 'through
    the flash file'. The exception is IE 7.0, everything is fine there.
    (it hasn't been tested in any mac browsers though).
    Because the area below the navigation on
    www.kitachi.info/work is one large dummy jpeg file, the link below
    would be a much better example to look at.
    http://www.musflashtv.com/shows/ind...tlight-Sessions
    The flash navigation is embedded in the html (tlp) template
    file using the code below and aligned using an external style
    (.css) sheet, this html code not only embeds the flash movie but it
    also tells the browser to display it's background and as
    transparent. The flash movie is embedded in a layer that sits above
    the table.
    3) The flash embed code:
    <object
    classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0"
    name="shows-navigation-tranparent" width="851" height="300"
    align="top" class="flash-navigation"
    id="shows-navigation-tranparent">
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
    <param name="movie"
    value="flash/navigation-tranparent.swf" />
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    <param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
    <param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" />
    <param name="SCALE" value="exactfit" />
    <embed src="flash/navigation-tranparent.swf" width="851"
    height="300" align="top" quality="high" wmode="transparent"
    bgcolor="#000000" name="navigation-tranparent"
    allowscriptaccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
    pluginspage="
    http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
    scale="exactfit" />
    </object>
    Does anybody know of any code that can solve this problem or
    know a different way of creating a flash navigation with a drop
    menu that can be embeded over html?
    Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated especially as
    this issue is holding back progress in a big way.
    Thanks in advance guys!

  • Help with Flash code in web page

    I have a Flash file in the masthead of my web site that shows
    a slideshow. I want to code the page so that if the viewer doesn't
    have Flashplayer, an alternative jpeg comes up in the masthead
    instead of the file with the flash slideshow. I'm afraid I'm new to
    most of this.... I'd very much appreciate help with the
    programming.
    Thank you!
    Here's the file:
    http://www.ewgaphilly.com/cs3index.html
    (the slide show isn't working at the moment -- a server issue). The
    alternate file I want to put in is:
    http://www.ewgaphilly.com/alternate_mast.jpg

    I'm sorry to be so dull on this, but I'd appreciate if you
    could tell me specifically which is the embed code (the codes in
    the <head>? What to I change here? I really appreciate your
    help.
    Here is what I get when I publish the movie and the open the
    html file:
