External SWF only plays first few frames then loops

Help!  I've been working on this for the past few weeks.  Have read everything I can read.  Have tried everything I that has been posted.  And still I can seem to get a simple external swf to load and play using AS3.  I have tried numerous ways with the same results everytime.  Here are a few of the scripts I have tried.  What I would like to have happen is to have one main timeline where I load sequentially external SWF files - there is no interaction required - it is a presentation that includes video and other Flash SWF files that I have created.  Now I just want them all in one flash file.  I had no problems with AS2 doing this, but I'm sure having fits with AS3!  please HELP - my deadline is this week and I'm not even close to being ready.  THANKS!
var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();
var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("script1_3.swf");
addChild(myLoader);
//var begin:MovieClip;
//var beginLoader:Loader = new Loader();
//beginLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT, beginLoading);
//beginLoader.load( new URLRequest("start1_3.swf") );
//function beginLoading(evt:Event):void {
//thisMovieClip = MovieClip(beginLoader.content);
//stage.addChild(thisMovieClip);
//thisMovieClip.play();
//import flash.display.*;
//import flash.net.URLRequest;
//import flash.events.Event;
//var _swfLoader1:Loader;
//var _swfContent1:MovieClip;
//loadSWF1("script1_3.swf");
//play();
//function loadSWF1(path:String):void {
//   var _req1:URLRequest = new URLRequest();
//   _req1.url = path;
//  _swfLoader1 = new Loader();
// setupListeners1(_swfLoader1.contentLoaderInfo);
//  _swfLoader1.load(_req1);
//function setupListeners1(dispatcher1:IEventDispatcher):void {
//  dispatcher1.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, addSWF1);
  // dispatcher1.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, preloadSWF1);
//function preloadSWF1(event:ProgressEvent):void {
//   var _perc:int = (event.bytesLoaded / event.bytesTotal) * 100;
//swfPreloader1.percentTF.text = _perc + "%";
//function addSWF1(event:Event):void {
/// event.target.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, addSWF1);
//  event.target.removeEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, preloadSWF1);
//  _swfContent1 = event.target.content;
// _swfContent1.addEventListener("close", unloadSWF1);
// addChild(_swfContent1);
//function unloadSWF1(event:Event):void {
//  _swfLoader1.unloadAndStop();
//removeChild(_swfContent1);
//  _swfContent1 = null;
Best Wishes
Deborah

Believe me, I'm feeling the pressure!!!  I sent a screen shot and it got kicked back!!!!
here is the code I'm using in the main time line:
var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();
var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("script1_3.swf");  // THIS can be any SWF file - same results
myLoader.load(url);
addChild(myLoader);
The only thing that is in the main time line before this is a page roll over effect component - and if I remove that I have the same problem!  I'm sorry, I don't know what else to provide you without giving you my fla files which I tried to send and they were kicked back!!!

  • Exported movies only have first few frames of audio

    Hello everyone,
    I've encountered a strange new problem with Premiere Pro CC on the PC.
    For some reason, every time I export a movie now, no matter the format, it only contains the first few frames of audio then drops out everything else immediately afterward. The video tends to play fine, but the audio is just completely missing after a few frames.
    I feel as though it's some sort of muxing issue, but I do not understand why it is happening
    1. I have not had any major software updates, and my hardware has been the same.
    2. I have tried exporting with and without GPU acceleration.
    3. Just three days ago, on April 4, everything was working fine.
    4. When I open the project on my MacBook Pro, everything exports just fine.
    5. The audio always plays just fine when playing it inside the project, both on my PC and my MacBook Pro.
    6. A seemingly related issue is that some videos have been randomly failing exports in Media Encoder (this has never happened when exporting directly from PrPro, though). The error message I get is:
    - Encoding Time: 00:04:18
    04/07/2014 03:21:12 AM : Encoding Failed
    A low-level exception occurred in: H.264 (Exporter)
    Export Error
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
    Does this have something to do with a recent PC Premiere Pro update that I was not aware of?
    Here are my specs:
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    Intel Core2 Quad CPUQ 9550 2.83 ghz
    8 gigs of ram
    NVIDIA Geforce GTX 650
    Audio is going through the motherboard, though I also have NVIDIA High Definition Audio and NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM) installed.
    I am also currently working off of external G-DRIVEs.
    Anyone have any idea why this could be happening? This has been a very annoying problem.
    I am going to try reinstalling PrPro to see if that will fix things.

    I have viewed these files in Windows Media Player, VLC, Quicktime, and Media Player Classic. All have the exact same issue. They also have the exact same issue when played on a different computer (a MacBook Pro) with the same players. I have tried exporting in H.264 (.mp4 container) and MPEG2, same issue. They also have the same issue when I import the file I exported back into PrPro to play it back in there.
    When I export on my MacBook Pro with Premiere Pro, everything works fine. This leads me to believe that it's either something wrong with the installation on my PC's version of PrPro or some hardware/software is interacting with my version of PrPro strangely, the latter of which I think is somewhat unlikely since it was working fine just three days before this issue came up.
    When I re-installed PrPro, it gave me an error saying some optional components could not be installed. I looked into it, and it said that it could not install Visual Basic C++ 2008. which is fine since I already have it installed (both 2008 and 2010, and x86 and x64 versions of both).
    I will try exporting one more time to see if the latest update today has somehow resolved the issue.

  • AVI File Captured in Premiere Elements 8 Only Plays First Few Minutes

    Hello folks,
    I'm totally new to this.  My problem: I've recently installed Premiere Elements 8 and used it to capture some mini DV video tapes (via firewire), without any significant problems (other than a few freezes).  Now I've tried to capture some VHSC tapes via my TV card (Avermedia H727). The capture process went well (except that the preview screen was just a fuzzy mess!) but I had to plug the audio inputs into my sound card (onboard) rather than the TV card.
    The caputred files are about 6 + Gb for a 30 minute tape but when playing the captured video back in PrE8 only the first few minutes is available (the length of playback seems to vary unpredictably (1 tape allowed 3 minutes of playback, another a bit less).   The full avi files can be played back in Roxio or Windows Media Player etc but not PrE8.
    Interestingly, videos captured from VHSC via the same TV card in Roxio 2010 Pro will play back correctly and fully in PrE8.   I had to switch audio inputs to the TV card (rather than the soundcard) for the audio to be captured with Roxio.
    My son has tried to help me with this (having some experience on PrE2) but he's also drawn a blank with this.
    I'd be very grateful for any help that you might be able to give as I've not found anything in FAQ although it's not easy to succintly define my search for this problem.
    Many thanks
    Computer spec:
    OS     Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
    CPU     Intel i7 2.8GHz
    RAM     4Gb DDR3
    MB     Asus P7P55D Deluxe
    HDD     2x Sata II Western Digital 1.5Tb (each)
    Graphics     ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 series
    All updates for Windows 7 and PrE8 installed

    Thanks John:
    My PC has 2 HDDs and both are of the “green” variety.  Both are partitioned (2 partitions on each HDD) with operating systems on the first partition (Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on one and Windows XP Pro -32 bit on the other, the operating systems are on different physical drives).
    The tips relating to PrPro are hard to follow as they are quite technical and I’m not even sure which ones also relate to PrE8.   It would take me an age to try to wade through this lot.
    My point is that my current setup (for all its imperfections) will capture video (via the TV card) using PrE8 as the capture software.  The setup must be adequate for this task as the complete avi file is played back correctly on Roxio and Windows Media Player but PrE8 fails to recognise any video after the first 3 minutes (approx).
    If I capture to PrE8 using a firewire connection from my mini DV video camera then the capture proceeds normally (apart from odd freezes) and the captured video is all playable in PrE8.
    When capturing using the mini DV camera, I select "DV camcorder" in the “Get Media” menu. However, this only supports Firewire or USB sources.   When capturing from the VHSC tapes via the TV card I have to select “Webcam or WDM Device” as the media source (I’m not convinced that this is the most suitable capture mode but it’s the only one I can find that doesn’t look for either a firewire or USB device.
    It seems as though PrE8 must be putting some code onto the captured video that prevents more of it from playing back because avi files recorded on Roxio will playback fully.   I've tried to copy the PrE8 avi files into a different folder (devoid of any PrE8 project files) and then renaming the file before importing into PrE8 but still only the first few minutes will play.   My thinking here was that perhaps one of the other associated project files that PrE8 creates might be the source of the corrupt info.
    Many thanks for your interest and taking the trouble to respond.

  • Itunes only plays first few seconds of a song...

    I have a mac mini that I purchased last summer and have recently been having itunes problems. I have had no internet at home for a couple months but I believe itunes was up to date when I last had online access. I think I upgraded to Yosemite? But honestly can't remember. I am on my work computer and far from home.
    So starting a couple of weeks ago, when playing certain albums in itunes, it would play the first 5-10 seconds of a song and then jump to another song on that album. I could switch albums and it would play fine. Sometimes. But the problem has worsened and now I cannot play anything in itunes without this happening. Very frustration to say the least. I have tried restarting itunes and restarting the machine with and that has not helped. Maybe a reinstall of itunes? Sounds like that will need internet access to get re-updated and such? Any help here is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hmmmm. I see a lot of questions and issues with iTunes in this here forum but not many answers and solutions to those problems. Seems Apple has been taking some missteps lately and forgetting a big part of what got them to where they are: their stuff worked with ease. Seems so many more stumbling steps these days.

  • Playlist will only play a few songs then stop.

    After upgrading to ITunes 7.0, my playlist will stop playing after a few songs. Ihave to Restart the playlist everytime. Inever had this problem with the previous versions of ITunes.. What can I do to have all the songs in my play list play without stopping?

    I've had the same thing, definately seems like a small bug. Bizarrely with mine it only does it sometimes, but it seems that when it reaches the last song in the playlist (as in the one at the bottom) it treats that as if it is the last song to be played regardless of the shuffle feature.
    Haven't managed to overcome it yet, but it's rarely a problem for me to just press play again

    I have just bought an iPad, partly to check that my websites work OK on mobile devices.   When I load a page with several jpgs (e.g. one 1920x720, then 8-10 800x800px), only the first few are shown.  If I remove the large one, that sometimes fixes the problem. Behaviour is similar for Safari and Chrome. Is this a website issue or iPad?

    Sorry, I didn't make myself clear.  I'm using a new Wordpress theme that is meant to be responsive.  The large image is for a header, than you scroll down to see the rest, one by one.  Some one the pages work OK on my iPad, typically the old ones where the maximum image size was 500 x 500.  It's the new pages and those I've updated that are causing the problem.  On the iPad the large image loads, then a couple of the small ones become visible as I scroll down, but then darkness (rather like my knowledge level).
    Being new to IOS and iPads, I'm trying to work out whether I should be looking here, or amongst the Wordpress stuff for a solution.

    I copied several MOV files to a CD. When I play them from the CD the video is fine but the audio works fine for the first few seconds then stops (using Qicktime Player 7.7.1.  Everything works fine if I use VLC Media Player. Does anyone have any idea why?

    My purpose for copying to a CD or DVD is so that I can make copies and send to friends and relatives. What is the best way to get these files on a CD/DVD with the right codecs?
    The easiest thing to do is to simply tell your friends and relatives to copy the files to their local hard drive before playing them. Your basic problem is that data discs have a limited real time transfer rate. Since you say VLC plays the files fine, I might suspect its player is likely buffering the data while the QT 7 Player is not.
    Data discs made for playback directly from the CD or DVD are normally encoded using MPEG-4/AVC (H.264) video with AAC audio. This is a modern codec which has specific settings to re-package the data (i.e., must be encoded using the multipass option and then select the "optimize for CD/DVD" option).

  • Only the first few minutes of songs will play

    I have a 4th gen iPod Nano and when I try to play music only the first few minutes of each song will play. Each song cuts off at the same point each time and this ranges from about 2:30 to around 6:20 from the tracks I have tested. Some of them at least are currently in 256kbit aac although I have tried resyncing them with the option to convert higher bitrate tracks to 128kbit aac. This has no effect on the "stopping" point for each track. The music plays fine on iPhone 4, 5 and in iTunes. I have restored the ipod to factory settings and tried resyncing but to no avail.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

  • Button from External SWF to Play Movie in Main SWF

    Hi Guys,
    Ok I'm working in Flash 8, Action Script 2;
    I'm building a website, in which the 'Gallery Page' has a link to an external swf file, which is a scrolling clip of thumbnails.
    What I want to do, is create each thumbnail into a button, which will then play a Movie Clip from a frame located in the Main swf file.
    (So basically, each thumbnail button is a small photo, will play that photo in a large scale as a movie)
    eg.
    thumbnail1_btn  needs to go to main swf and play movieclip1.mc, frame 1
    thumbnail2_btn nends to go to main swf and play movieclip1.mc, frame 2
    I'm unsure of the code for this? Or if I've built this up wrong?
    If someone could help me out, that would be great!

    If you haven't set _lockroot on the loaded SWF, than a simple _root call from the loaded SWF will talk to the main SWF.
    IE:
    on(release){
    _root.gotoAndPlay(1);
    If you did set the lockroot, then call the level directly, via:
    on(release){
    _level0.gotoAndPlay(1);
    Once on the root level, you can access a movie clip as normal.
    So:
    on(release){
    _level0.movieClip1.gotoAndPlay(1);
    will call the movie clip "movieClip1" which resides on the timeline of _level0 (which is main.swf in your instance), and tell it to jump to the first frame and start playing.

  • Preload external swf before play

    i have a project i am working on...but for some reason the solution i went with is not satisfying my instructor......
    so....here is my new code ( which is incorrect but i cant figure out how to arrange the preloader at the end )
    var Xpos:Number=0;
    var Ypos:Number=0;
    var swf:MovieClip;
    var bgloader:Loader = new Loader();
    var bgURL
    if(page==1){
    bgURL=new URLRequest("pages/home.swf");
    else if(page==2){
    bgURL=new URLRequest("pages/about.swf");
    else if(page==3){
    bgURL=new URLRequest("pages/projects.swf");
    else if(page==4){
    bgURL=new URLRequest("pages/experimental.swf");
    else if(page==5){
    bgURL=new URLRequest("pages/contact.swf");
    bgloader.load(bgURL);
    bgloader.x=Xpos;
    bgloader.y=Ypos;
    bg.addChild(bgloader);
    stop();
    var percent:Number = bgURL.bytesTotal;
    if(percent==100){
    gotoAndPlay("start");
    first off, i dont even know if what i am being asked to do is possible...but, what i am being requested to do is obviously load in the external swf BUT, the external swf cannot play until the MAIN swf is directed to "start"......
    i have done this numerous times in as1 and 2....but back then things were totally written different and if you do it the same way you run into migration issues....
    i thought this was solved already, but my instructor will not accept the method of using an event to be dispatched in the external SWF to tell the main swf when to play "start"....im not sure if there is any other way to do this?
    he wants the external swf to contain NO code other than what is necessary for its internal functions....
    everything is to be coded in the MAIN swf.....
    so im trying to use bytesTotal, and the percent==100 is just a number i threw in for example purposes.....i am just not figuring this out....
    any help is greatly appreciated

    From what I could gather based on your description, your instructor wants you to start playing when external swf is loaded completely.
    If my understanding is correct, what you need to do conceptually is:
    1. Instantiate Loader
    2. Add event listeners that you are interested in.
    3. Execute code corresponding to these listeners in their corresponding handler functions.
    As for No 2 - Usually there are at least 3 events that are of interest when dealing with Loaders:
    1. Event.COMPLETE - dispatched when entire target is loaded
    2. ProgressEvent.PROGRESS - dispatched when a new bytes packet arrives.
    3. IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR - dispatched when something goes wrong with loading (say, wrong url, etc.)
    In your particular case it is supposed to be something like this (may not work because you did not describe what is the point of different swfs loading and how it affects entire application). SEE COMMENTS:
    stop();
    var swf:MovieClip;
    // always specify datatype
    var bgURL:URLRequest;
    if(page == 1) {
         bgURL = new URLRequest("pages/home.swf");
    else if (page == 2) {
         bgURL = new URLRequest("pages/about.swf");
    else if (page == 3) {
         bgURL = new URLRequest("pages/projects.swf");
    else if (page == 4) {
         bgURL = new URLRequest("pages/experimental.swf");
    else if (page == 5) {
         bgURL = new URLRequest("pages/contact.swf");
    var bgloader:Loader = new Loader();
    configureListeners();
    // now you are ready to load
    bgloader.load(bgURL);
    * Adds listeners.
    function configureListeners():void {
         // NOTE!!! Listeners are added to contentLoaderInfo - not Loader itself
         bgloader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoadComplete);
         bgloader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, onProgress);
         bgloader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onLoadError);
    * Removes listeners.
    function removeListeners():void {
         bgloader.contentLoaderInfo.removeEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoadComplete);
         bgloader.contentLoaderInfo.removeEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, onProgress);
         bgloader.contentLoaderInfo.removeEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onLoadError);
    function onLoadComplete(e:Event):void
         // depeneding on the situation
         // you may want to add loaded swf
         // but before if swf exists - you need to remove it
         if (swf && this.contains(swf)) {
              removeChild(swf);
              swf = null;
         swf = bgloader.content as MovieClip;
         addChild(swf);
         // now play
         this.gotToAndPlay("start");
         // dont't forget to remove listeners
         removeListeners();
    function onLoadError(e:IOErrorEvent):void
         // deal with the error
    function onProgress(e:ProgressEvent):void
         // here you update preloader if you have one
         trace("Progress", e.bytesLoaded, e.bytesTotal);
    On a side note, the way you deal with instnatiating URLRequests is not the most efficient or scalable. A better approach would be to keep them in an array and call by index. Note, conditionals are gone.
    var bgList:Array = [
              "pages/home.swf",
              "pages/about.swf",
              "pages/projects.swf",
              "pages/experimental.swf",
              "pages/contact.swf"];
    var bgURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest(bgList[page]);

    Hi
    *Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
    iMovie pref file resides.
    Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
    Macintosh HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
    and is named.
    com.apple.iMovie.plist
    com.apple.iMovie3.plist
    com.apple.iMovie7.plist
    com.apple.iMovie8.plist
    and find com.apple.iApps.plist - trash this too
    While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this file/s out to desk-top.
    Now restart iMovie.
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Garageband-fix. Start it, Play a note and Close it. Re-try (Corrects an audio problem that hinders iMovie)
    • Screen must be set to Million-colors
    • Turn off Mac and disconnect Mains/Power for 20-30 minutes - will at least re-set FW-port
    • Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08 or 09)
    • Problems in iPhoto Library can affect iMovie to crash on start-up. Re-build this first then try to re-start iMovie.
    This You do by
    _ close iPhoto
    _ on start up of iPhoto - Keep {cmd and alt-keys down}
    _ now select all five options presented
    _ WAIT a long long time

    • Program miss-match. iMovie’09 v. 8.0.6, Mac OS X.5.8 AND QuickTime 7.6.4 - is OK (will work under Leopard and Snow-Leopard)
    From LKN 1935. (in this case = iMovie HD (5), I tried it all, but nothing worked.
    Your answer (above) has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that
    there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled
    iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos)
    to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before.

  • HT5557 audiobook only plays first minute

    I have Windows 8 and the newest version of Itunes. I have recently purchased audiobooks from Itunes and on both my ipod and iphone, only the first few minutes plays. I've purchased audiobooks before and never had a problem. I've searched this problem and tried suggestions. I changed to a music file; get info>options>media kind. This worked for 2 of the 4 audiobooks. But the other 2 will not work regardless of what I do. Frankly I'm tired of messing with this, but I paid for these and should not have this much trouble listening to them. Can anyone help?

    This happened to all of my audiobooks after switching to a new comuter. Find your receipt email or access your account and you will see a 'report a problem button' press this for one of them and up will pop a text box - set out which are faulty and how and ask for them to be redownloaded for you. I had around 20 audiobooks doing excatly this and within a day or two of reporting the problem and identifying all affected books they were all waiting for me to download again wen I next accesed Itunes home page. Worked a treat. No quibble. Hope helps. . . .

  • MX711 - Prints fine for the first few jobs then prints with no ink

    Pixma MX711
    - Prints fine for the first few jobs
    then after 10 minutes or so it prints but no ink is on the page.
    I replaced the ink cartridges and did all the nozzle clean, priming, alignment etc.
    Questions.
    1. What is the process to do a factory reset?
    2. Any other troubleshooting steps I can do myself?

    Hi tda43,
    Performing a factory reset of the printer will likely not resolve the issue of the inks not printing; however, you can perform the following steps to reset the settings of the printer:
    1. Press the MENU button.
    2. Select SETUP, then press the OK button.
    3. Select DEVICE SETTINGS, then press the OK button.
    4. Use the arrow buttons to select RESET SETTING, then press the OK button.
    5. Use the arrow buttons to select SETTINGS ONLY, then press the OK button.
    6. Press the HOME button to return to the main menu after the settings have been reset.
    When inks do not print correctly, we recommend performing at least one cleaning and two deep cleanings on the printer to try and get the ink to print.  If you still experience difficulty, the printer will require servicing.  Please call or email us using one of the methods on the Contact Us page for further assistance.
