External type of linking. problems

Hi all,
I faced a problem linking a library to my project. There is main application A and module M. I added library X to the module externally. Then I added the same library to the main application merging it to the code. So, library X is included in module M as 'external' and in application A as 'merged in code'. No classes from X are used in the main application. Only module M used library X and its classes. All is compiled well but when I run the application it raises the error during loading the module: Main Thread (Suspended: VerifyError: Error #1014: Class 'class_definition' could not be found.). How should I compile the library to avoid such run time errors?
Thanks.

Merged into code will not do anything if the main app doesn't actually use
those classes.
You would have to list every class in the library.  That is not a typical
config as most folks don't want to burden the main app like that.
You can make a module out of library X and load it into the main app's
applicationDomain.

    Hi,
What is the exact name of the desktop app you have?  Is it "Acrobat Reader DC", "Acrobat Pro DC" or "Acrobat Standard DC"?
(Previously, your question was posted to the wrong forum - the Reader/Acrobat DC mobile forum.)
If you have the paid product ("Acrobat Pro DC" or "Acrobat Standard DC"), you can contact Adobe Customer Care.

If you have the free product ("Acrobat Reader DC"), Adobe Customer Care will redirect you to the user forum like this one.  You just need to wait for someone (who is an experienced user but not necessarily an Adobe employee) to answer your question in the right user forum.

  • External Firewire Hard Drive Problem

I have an external Maxtor FW 400 drive with two partitions that I've been using for backups. I've been using it with my iMac. Last night I kept having to force-quit different apps and finally decided to restart. My computer wouldn't shut down all the way and I had to finally use the power button. When I tried to start back up, I couldn't get past the grey screen. I kept having to use the power button to shut down. I disconnected everything but keyboard and mouse and did the reset SMC. I've zapped the PRAM. I couldn't get the disk to mount at all on my iMac. I used the disk utility on the iMac and 4-5 things came up when it did the verify/repair disk. I also did the hardware test and no problems were found.
I decided to try it with my MBP and finally one partition mounted, but the other didn't. I tried the disk utillity and get errors when I try to verify and repair. I was able to copy some of the files from the partition that mounted onto another drive, but some of the folders are giving me an error.
I've read some about DiskWarrior. Is that something that might help to repair the disk so I can at least get the files off? I have a copy of Tech Tool Deluxe that I got with AppleCare for an iMac G5, but don't know if that would help or not. Haven't been able to get it to work though. When I try to start up from the CD, I'm pressing C as I start up but it's not doing the CD. I know the version on the CD isn't for Leopard, so that might be why it's not starting up from CD? Does anyone have any suggestions about what might help?
Also, I guess I may have to purchase another external hard drive. This was a Maxtor about 5 years old. I've had a WD My Book USB also go bad on me, so I've stayed away from those. I have a SimpleTech USB that seems okay so far. I use a Time Capsule for my Time Machine backup. But, I'm creating a lot of video and photo projects so I have some really large projects and fill up a drive fast. They're too big to fit on a DVD. You need backups of your backups. How do y'all manage you big projects?
Lots of questions. Would love some answers. Thanks!

So is that iMac G5 working fine with off its internal drive? Only the external is causing this problem?
The copy Tech Tool Deluxe will boot your iMac G5, but it probably will not boot the MacBook Pro (because it is Intel and that old disc is probably for PowerPC). So if you want to use it, you will have to use the iMac G5 to boot it. It does have a volume repair function.
Disk Warrior, and the complete Tech Tool Pro, as well as Drive Genius (from Prosoft), are all utilities that can do repairs beyond the capabilities of Disk Utility.
For external drives, I tend to buy an external enclosure that I like and then look for a good deal on a hard drive to put inside it. I usually buy the enclosure from a company that is focused on Mac users, such as OWC (macsales.com) and Macally. They (and others) sell empty cases. At this point, I would buy a case that has both USB 2.0 and FireWire connections. As for the hard drive itself, I like using dealmac.com for links to great deals.
I recently had a need for a large amount of extra storage to use with Time Machine. The cheapest way I could find to add the space I needed was to get 750 GB Western Digital Green SATA drive ($70 deal found through DealMac) and connect it to USB 2.0 using one of these adapters.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/U2NV2SPATA/
I know I'm wasting the speed capability of a new SATA drive, but USB 2.0 is fast enough for using with Time Machine. It just sits as a bare drive next to my iMac and my FireWire external drive. Because the "green" drive is probably operating at a slower speed, it makes almost no sound and barely gets warm.
At MacWorld this year, OWC's booth was showing off this device called +Voyager Q+.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/FWU2ES2HDK/
With it, you plug in regular bare SATA hard drive mechanisms like those old Iomega cartridge drives. If you are regularly running short of storage space, you might consider this type of solution as a way to have essentially unlimited storage without the need to have a clutter of external drives, each with its own cable, power cord, and power supply. Just have a safe place to store your archive of SATA hard drives and plug them in as needed.

  • InDesign to Adobe Acrobat to Adobe Reader Link problem

Hi - I'm responsible for a long conversation about link problems in creating file links in InDesign that did not work in Acrobat. At the end of that long discussion, I thought I solved the problem, but didn't. Since then, I've been MUCH more observant.
The problem appears to take place in Adobe Reader.
My home computer on Win7 is different than my work Computer (XP), but I have the same software on both.
At work, I discovered that when I clicked on a PDF, it worked fine, that its links opened a new PDF window, but when I clicked on links on the second document, the links failed and Microsoft returned an error message telling me that I was screwed. Because I was screwed, I couldn't see what was in the path of that error.
It turns out that for some unknown reason (which you might clarify for me), my Adobe Readers are attempting to open my documents in Internet Explorer and that just won't work.
What I observed at home is that I made 5 test documents in ID, and ported them to Acrobat. As it turns out, my default for opening PDFs is Adobe Reader, which I saw on the chrome of the first document I opened. When I clicked a link, and I got the error message, I noticed my browser was up.
When I set my default for opening in Acrobat, everything worked like a charm! How about that!
Now then, what that says to me is that Adobe Reader is to be used exclusively with a browser, so if the people who are going to read your internal PDF files with Reader without those files being on a web server of some type, you are totally screwed. The only way you can use Reader is if you click on the file and bring it up directly. Don't rely on linking to other documents.
I mean, that is what it seems to me.
Now, I am creating a big project for an environment without a webserver and obviously my sense of panic is palpable. That said, I believe that all my users can read my files using Acrobat (to be tested tomorrow), which I hope means I can breathe a bit easier.
Do any of you have any thoughts on this subject? If you are really curious, I can make a packet of test files available.

    Karen_Little wrote:
The files and the PDFs are all in the same directory.
The tests are on local drives. All indesign files and their related PDFs were in the same directory.
The same for Word and its related PDFs. Note that the PDFs created by Word then read by Adobe Reader worked correctly. They all opened in Adobe Reader.
If the default program for opening PDFs is Acrobat, everything works correctly, with the added benefit of everything opening in a different window, which is what I want (yet to be tested at work). If the default program is Adobe Reader, the second generation of links do NOT work because Reader opens in Internet Explorer.
When I open a Word-created PDF with Acrobat, view the link, and click to the Actions menu, the action is "Open a file"
When I open an InDesign PDF with Acrobat and do the same, the action says "Open a web link"
    Big BIG BIG bug.
Are you seeing the link commands by editing them in Acrobat? If not, try, so you can see the exact command and file or URL instruction. It still may be a bug, but you'll have better evidence when you report it here:
Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
And, you might want to try correcting a link command in Acrobat, to see if can work for both Acrobat and Reader.

  • Re: Fwd: Link Problems With Borland C++ 4.52

I have seen this problem before in another context, and I'll offer the
cause and solution in the hope that they will apply to the Crystal problem.
Many Windows based applications rely on PASCAL calling conventions, which
change the way parameters are handled in function/method calls. They
indicate this by placing one of the following immediately before the
function name in the prototype declarations:
    - pascal_far (or something like that)
    - WINAPI
    - some other typedef of either of the above
    For example:
    int WINAPI AddTotal(int valueA, int valueB);
Unfortunately, v2.0 of Forte does not provide any mechanisms for changing
the calling conventions of the prototypes in the generated C++ wrapper
library, so when you compile that code, the linker fails. I think that the
compiler may generate different symbols depending on calling conventions,
    so that's why it fails.
To fix this, don't autocompile your code, but generate the distribution, go
into the generated C++ files and look for the function prototypes (I think
you can search for FORTE_NO_PROTOTYPES), add WINAPI to the appropriate
places in the prototype definitions (see above) and use fcompile to build
the library. Instructions for fcompile are in the Interfacing With
    External Systems manual.
    Hope this helps,

    James,
Thanks for your quick response. Yesterday we had been running down
the path of examining the calling conventions and trying to change them
to PASCAL, but without much success. After receiving your note, we
went back over it again, and this time we were able to finally to piece it
together. In addition to editing the Forte-generated .cc file to declare
the functions as PASCAL, we also had to turn off the compiler's case
sensitivity. (The Crystal .lib file had the function names in mixed case,
but the Borland compiler was generating all uppercase for the names.)
Now I had actually tried this yesterday and it didn't work (in fact it
generated a whole bunch of new errors) - because until we took a
second look at it today, I didn't realize that Borland's linker actually has
TWO flags that control case sensitivity. If you only turn one or the
other off, things can get pretty ugly looking. As soon as we turned
both of them off, the compile and link went beautifully. Again, thanks
for your help; hopefully we are over the worst of it now!
    Dale

  • WRT600N Storage Link Problems

I'm just adding to the litany of woes regarding the problems with the Storage Link feature on this router, but I wanted to point out some specifics based on my sorry experience, since others seem to be somewhat different or lacking in detail. Here is my summary:
Router firmware version 1.0.36 Build 4 (one release up from what is currently on Linksys' web site)
Connected Western Digital My Book 750GB USB 2.0 external drive, first formatted via computer to NTFS, and then plugged in to the router's USB port..
Got everything set up properly including shared folders on external drive, user access, permissions, etc, and mapped network drives on laptop (Vista Home Premium) and desktop (XP Home) computers, so far so good.
Attempted (twice) a drive image backup of laptop using StorageCraft ShadowProtect Desktop 3.2 (latest release). Backup completed (44GB), and I could see the file on the external network drive, but file was corrupt and failed verification.
After much research, decided to re-format the external network drive using the router's formatting capability. Discovered that router will only format using FAT32, but proceeded anyhow, and again successfully set up shared folders, user access, permissions, etc.
Since FAT32 will not address files larger than 4 GB, decided to abandon a drive image backup, so tried a files-and-folders backup from the laptop using Genie Backup Manager Home 8.0. This was successful as long as I didn't try to back up so many files and folders that the resulting file was larger than 4GB.
Also copied individual files and folders over to external drive with no problem, but had to exclude a video file that was slightly larger than 4 GB.
Re-formatted the external network drive to NTFS again using the computer, and tried another files-and-folders backup from the laptop using Genie, this time purposely selecting enough files to push the backup file size over 4 GB. This should have worked since the drive was formatted to NTFS, but the backup failed twice.
Conclusion: Storage Link implementation only allows basic capability to move files and folders less than 4 GB in size due to it's FAT32 format limitation, and is totally unsuitable for using automated backup software to backup large numbers of files or do drive imaging to the network drive. So if all you want to do is move files manually to the network drive, and don't have any huge files larger than 4 GB, and don't care about automated backups, then Storage Link seems to work OK. However, IMHO, this is WAY too limiting, and does not even come close to a NAS solution. I'm returning my router today, because it is hard to tell when a firmware upgrade might be released that would remove these serious limitations.
Sorry if this it really long, but I felt the details are important if anyone from Linksys is reading this.

Hi All I have just seen exactly the same issue with some files I use which are 4.7GB. If I try and move the files from the computer to the storage which connected to the router I get a message that I dont have enough space. I get the same error if I put the files on via the computer and then connect the storage back to the router and try and access them. In this day and age over 4GB is not a massive file and this is a bit of a poor show :-( Cheers Phil

  • Dotfuscator CE error: External type not found System.Windows.Input.ICommand,PresentationCore

Preemptive will not support CE so I am trying here...
I have an application targeting the .NET Framework 4.0.  It builds and runs fine but I cannot get it to compile in Dotfuscator CE. I am stuck.

The problem seems to originate from ICommand being moved from PresentationCore.dll (in NET 4.0) to System.dll (in NET 4.5).  Studio handles this and compiles fine as I am targeting NET 4.0 and the references all point to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\.NETFramework\v4.0\
Dotfuscator CE however does not seem to handle it correctly and I am not sure how to correct the issue.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi, as you can see from the output of "show vpc" the Type-2 consistency check not performed. It is probably due to you have not configured any type-2 consistency check related features on your devices that would triggers the type-2 inconsistency check to perform.
You can read more about type-2 consistency parameters here:

  • Linker problems

    Hello
I am transitioning from jb to borland nb5(so much faster) and I have an app that works fine in jb that I have packaged into a jar, aa.jar. In nb5 I have an applet that uses a class from aa.jar and it compiles. However when it runs I get the NoClassDefFoundError. This is like an old C linker problem. What commands do I need in build to create an execution environment to use the class form another "external" jar? tia.

Here's a hint: drop those IDEs for a minute (or a week), step back, go to the command line and learn how to do all that stuff with just the stuff the JDK provides. This way you'll learn pretty much everything you need to learn about classpath and co and you'll have a much better understanding on what to look for when you need to do it with the IDE.
The IDE should help you do stuff, but you should not be depending on it.

  • External HDD - Standyby / Sleep Problems

    Hi everybody,
I use a TC 1 TB, connected to my MacBook using Gigabit Ethernet. The TC is connected to automatically on startup and everything works fine.
As soon as I connect an external USB harddisk to it, I encounter problems when starting the system or waking it up from standby / sleep. It seems that the exernal harddisk enters sleep mode, too, and the TC is not able to wake it up properly. Thus, the startup process hangs, i. e. the MacBook can't be used. When I disconnect the HDD from the TC, things continue smoothly.
Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this issue? I'd really like to use the external HDD as additional space.
    Thanks in advance!

Depends on hard disk type used. Change of externalö disk solved the problem.

  • When I type a link to a page in my root directory in code view and I click on the link in live view it does not go to that page.  But if I preview in a browser it works fine.

When I type a link to a page in my root directory in code view and I click on the link in live view it does nothing.  When I then go to preview in a browser it works fine.  Can anybody help?

I am not sure however I suspect live view is for viewing the page you are working on. You would have to open the other page to see it in live view. The browser on the other hand is doing what it is designed to do. I jump back and forth all the time from live view to the browsers I have installed.
