ExternalInterface in Flex2 beta2 and IE6

I was using ExternalInterface to call javascript functions
defined in an HTML wrapper from a Flex2 beta2 Application. It works
with Firefox 1.5, but there is no way I can make it work with IE6.
BTW, I installed FlashPlayer 8.5 in both IE and Firefox. Any ideas?
Thanks.

its getChildAt(0) or can also use getChildByName

  • Disable right mouse click and IE6 galleryimg on af:objectImage

    hi,
    Could anyone tell me how I can disable right mouse click and IE6 galleryimg on af:objectImage?

    Hi Jagannath,
    Try like this.. Double click on application -> go to parameters tab, in parameters give WDDISABLEUSERPERSONALIZATION and value 'X'. It will disable user settings, you get window when right click but no user settings available.

  • CSS layout and IE6 suddenly gone wrong

    Hi
    I have been working on a site, unfortunately I diont have a
    copy of IE6 but looked great in IE7 and FF, checked through
    development in IE6 when i had the opportunity, suddenly at the last
    hurdle it seems to have gone terribly wrong and I have no idea why
    I have been trouble shooting for some time now and I cant seem tio
    come up with an answer.
    So if anyone can help I would be very grateful. The url :
    http://www.blanc-wall.co.uk/sitefiles/index.htm
    The left hand div seems to be the source of all errors I dont
    know why, as is pretty much the same as the right hand div and that
    renders fine.
    Help!
    Many Thanks

    I can identify the issues but I don't know how to fix one of
    them. The
    way you have constructed the page isn't exactly the way I
    would go about
    doing it.
    Issue 1: The divLeft is inheriting the margin-left: 200px;
    from the
    divCenter css, which results in flinging it to the left in
    IE6. I don't
    know the solution to this one, someone else may well do as it
    seems to
    be an IE 6 bug of some kind.
    Issue 2: You can close up the space between the links by
    giving IE6 a
    conditional comment. The space bug on the 'a' tag in that
    browser is
    well documented.
    <!--[if IE 6]>
    <style>
    #divLeft a {height: 1em;}
    </style>

    Add a random number as a parameter to the url.
    Something like:
    url = url + "?t=" + new Date().time;

    Hey Jo,
    did you get this resolved? - I don't see the problems that
    you are
    describing nor do I get a dom inspector error.
    The only thing I see is that the image which should reside
    under the
    side nav - you haven't set a path/source for this.

  • Where can I download Beta2 and subsequent versions?

    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp is the page for the Beta1 download. Where can I download Beta2 ? It was mentioned in former posts.

    Beta 1 is "build 1.5.0-beta-b32c" and is the latest public release.
    If you check the bug database you'll see that all builds from b33 have been labelled 'beta2'.

  • Using flashplayer with firefox 5.x and IE6

    I just downloaded Firefox 5.x for windows. Have XP Proo Media version. Have flashplayer for IE6. Now I need Flashplayer for Firefox. If I download the latest version, how will it be known that it is for Firefox? Have the latest version for IE6 listed as ActiveX  in Manage Add-ons. Will my IE6 version be wiped out with the new download? Think it has to be a plug-in for Firefox. Please help. Will aslo have to do this for PDF reader, Java script, etc. Need this info as soon as possible. Thanks. Mike Margrave

    Download the plugin installer ("for other browsers") from http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580
    And no, the plugin will not "wipe out" the ActiveX add-on.
    Flash Player is the only software that has two installers; you don't need to worry about Adobe Reader, Shockwave Player, Java RTE, etc.  (And you don't have to worry about Javascript, as it is part of the browser.)

  • Applets, Javascript and IE6.0 (WinXP)

    I've been trying to implement Javascript to Applet communication in IE6.0 on WinXP but found that it refuses to work. Normally:
    <script>
    function getCountry() {
         countryVal = document.countries.country.value;
         alert(RegionHelper.getCountry(countryVal);
    }</script>
    <applet name="RegionHelper" ... MAYSCRIPT></applet>
    Get Country
    <form name="countries">
    <input type="text" name="country">
    calls the od of the applet "RegionHelper" which returns a value and displays it in a dialog box.
    Running this through Netscape 6, not a problem. Try it with IE6.0 no luck!
    Okay I understand this is a WinXP-No Java support problem but is it the Javascript failing or does Microsoft have an Anti-Java applet functionality built in? Aside from the fact that all new PC's are shipped with WinXP now as well, it is a real problem if I need to implement any Java functionality.
    Is it worthwhile offering a link to run the applet through WebStart instead?
    I've tried embed and object but neither support the 'MAYSCRIPT' attribute and using a <jsp:plugin...> refuses to accept the 'MAYSCRIPT' attribute.
    Anyone have a work around at all?
    I beleive N6 uses Javascript 1.5 but I'm not sure about IE6
    Anthony.

    Forget it. I found the solution in the Java-Plugin forum.

  • Problems with connect to Em console and IE6.0 with sp1

    After installing OEM10g on W2K (server) and trying to connect and login to the management console (http://<servername>:80/em ) with Internet explorer I got the message that my IE browser was to low (5.0) and I have to upgrade to IE5.5 or higher. So I decided to install the newest IE (6.0 + sp1) and tried again to login to Oracle Enterprise Manager but getting a script error now.
    The strange thing is that I can connect (same way) from my own pc but there I have IE 6.0 without sp1 and there it works fine.
    Is this a bug or is there an option in IE6.0 sp1 to disable/ignore the scripting error ?

    I found there's a patch available for IE6SP1 from microsoft :
    Overview
    In the last few weeks you might have experienced difficulty logging on to secure Web sites or completing transactions on the Web. You might also have noticed more “HTTP 500 internal server error” messages.
    If you have been experiencing these problems recently, then your computer might have a recent security update installed (Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer MS04-004) that changes how Internet Explorer sends information to the Internet. Some secure Web sites do not work well with this security update and might cause you to experience the problems above.
    I have installed this patch, but it still doesn't solve my problem.
    Perhaps because this patch is for IE6sp1 (64 bits), I have the 128 bits version.

    I solved the problem by simply modifying the codebase tag
    (after 2-3 hours of confusion) to point to:
    http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/autodl/jinstall-1_4_0-
    win.cab#Version=1,4,0,0
    Guys i submitted the first bug report 4 weeks ago & couldn't get thru bug staff bureaucracy. Now that i have 2 independent confirmations, i submitted that bug report again.
    If you what to help sun fix this bug, emailing this guy & referring to this thread might help:
    [email protected]
    He told me 4 weeks ago that he couldn't reproduce the bug. I emailed him twice after he denied the bug, w/o any reply.
    But since i resubmitted the bug, i will also be praying that the new evaluation goes thru successfully. If they still have the bug in 1.4.1 beta, they'd better fix it before se release.

  • Blank Page with sun Java System Calendar Express and IE6

    Hi Everybody,
    I saw a few threads related to my problem, but no solutions ....
    When I try to open the Sun Java System Calendar Express web-interface with IE6, I get a blank page after the initial logon-screen. IE7 and Firefox do not show this problem - so I assume the server itself is working fine.
    I run SJS-CS v6.3 with patch 121659-18 on Linux.
    Otherwise the calendar server is working just fine - problem is, that I cannot switch all users to new/other browsers ...
    Any ideas ?
    Cheers, Stefan!

    render.xslonclient.enable
    ui.toolbar.repainting.enable
    I run SJS-CS v6.3 with patch 121659-18 on Linux.Let me just point out that calendar express is deprecated with CS6.3 (no more features/enhancements) so you should be looking to move to UWC/CE.
    Otherwise the calendar server is working just fine - problem is, that I cannot switch all users to new/other browsers ...Did this problem start when you upgraded to 6.3 or is this a new installation?

  • Flash Player locks up FireFox and IE6

    When I go to
    http://www.scifi.com/superhero,
    my browser locks up. I have flash player 9 installed, and there is
    a movie of some sort that tries to load, but it just locks up my
    browser (IE6 AND FireFox) to the point where I have to kill it.
    I have FlexBuilder2 installed on my machine as well, if that
    makes any difference.

    I also try to go to this site and nothing plays:
