Extjs - php server communication in Adobe AIR

I am trying to port a existing Extjs App with server communication via php to Adobe AIR. With the existing setup, I am not able to communicate . Can some one put some insight on Extjs communication via php in AIR ?

There is a google API SMTP Mailer for this purpose which can be used in AIR to send emails. You can refer to the http://code.google.com/p/smtpmailer/downloads/list

How to Import Self-signed SSL server certificates in Adobe AIR applications

I am using secure AMF endpoints for remote object communication from AIR client.
since i am using a self signed SSL certificate on the server, i am getting a certificate warning message on the AIR client, when ever a remote call is done.
Is there any mechanism to import the server certificate in AIR application..?
Please provide suggestions.

The point of syncing is to have the same photos in albums as those on your computer. Being able to delete photos from a synced folder destroys the sync. If you want to be able to delete photos on your iPad then do not sync photos from your computer. Also the Photos app on an iPad is just one app. There are many other photo organizing and editing app in the App Store. Use the app the best suits your needs.

Problems Installing Adobe AIR on OSX

Has anyone had successful experience deploying the AIR
runtime + AIR apps in mixed OS X environments? How about from
another bootstrap installer on OSX?
We have a large QA lab with various OSX machines. On a
number of them, we can't install the Adobe AIR runtime using a
command similar to this:
/Volumes/Adobe\ AIR/Adobe\ AIR\
Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe\ AIR\ Installer -silent
-location "/Path/To/Install" mypackage.air
After running this the Adobe AIR runtime is not installed.
So, we switched to executing the same command but with sudo. This
correced the issue on these problematic machines.
HOWEVER, using sudo or running the installer as root causes
problems on many other machines. On OS X 10.4 Server machines the
Adobe AIR Installer returns exit code 4, or crashes with a Bus
error and error code 138. On a 10.5 client a popup appears with the
text "This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which is no
longer supported. Please contact the application author for an
updated version". Note that these machines would install the
application and runtime fine without sudo before and will still do
so now if we run the installer as a regular admin user instead.

I forgot to say that when running under sudo or as root
(logging in as root) on OSX, that the crashreport logs look very
near the same as what was reported in this thread:

However, the workaround of adjusting the languages did not
work.

Adobe Air Vs Thin Client Application

Hi,
I have very little knowledge of Adobe Air. I would like to
know the basic difference between Adobe Air & thin client
applications.
Also, does Adobe air supports web applications? if yes then
how it interacts with centralize database which resides on main
server?
Does Adobe Air works only with MySQL?
Can anyone help on this?

It can do it the same way a browser does: by
sending requests over HTTP, handled by server side code that
manipulates the DB. If you have a "Web Service" API, AIR supports
all the SOAP ****, too. And, there is a raw network API if you have

native DB support it has is for SQLite, which is used for databases
on the local file system where the AIR app resides. To access a
remote DB, you have to use some form of custom networking to reach
it.
Theoretically, you could write a MySQL network client using
the raw client socket functionality, but I don't believe this
protocol is documented. You could extract it from the MySQL source
code, but...eck. Better to set up some kind of web service
API.

Uninstall of Adobe Air leaves folders and files

We have a server which had Adobe Air installed. This was removed but there are still program file folders with files inside. Why hasn't the uninstall removed these files ?
Is there a tool or a way to do it properly or do we just have to delete the folder paths as I know Registry entries will also be existing.

So, from my understanding of uninstallers, there is an install log which documents all the files that was installed. When the uninstaller runs, it removes all of these files and then deletes the folder. However, in this case, it does not remove the bin file and so does not remove it, and then when it checks the folder it sees there is a file still located in it so it does not remove the folder.
I was unable to locate a way to change this in the LabWindows/CVI distribution. An option might be to include the bin file in the installer. However, I'm not sure exactly what this bin file does and if this would cause any future issues. Another option would create a bat file that is distributed with the uninstaller that uninstalls the program and then deletes the folder.

If the data is on a remote server (for example, PHP running on a web server, talking to a MySQL server) then you do this in an AIR application the same way you would do it with any Flex application (or ajax application, if you're building your AIR app in HTML/JS).
That's a broad answer, but in fact there are lots of ways to communicate between Flex and PHP. The most common and best in most cases is to use AMFPHP (http://amfphp.org/) or the new ZEND AMF support in the Zend Framework.

I am creating a small chat application using Flash Media server. I have already created all my user interface components in Flex(Adobe AIR).In this application rather than sending text messages user can also send file to another user in his friend list.
problem what i am facing is, when i am sending file through FMS most of time it send successfully but for some files while sending application loss netconnection.
so i would like to know, rather than closing application what are other condition when FMS loses network connection?

Hi. It looks like your code is not finding the mp3. At least,
I can reproduce your error code by removing the mp3 from the
directory, or renaming it.
Btw, if you test with FF instead of IE, you'd see the error:

Hi, I bought an e-book in PDF format that uses Adobe DRM. I've created an account on adobe.com and tried downloading the book in Adobe Digital Editions on the Mac (as well as the bookstore's e-reader--logged into my Adobe account--on an Android device).

How do I install Adobe Air on a server?

I am using RH8 and Windows 7.
I am trying to make Browser Based Air files work on a server.
I was told that I need to install Adobe Air on the server. How do I do that.
IT made my pc into a server. I went to the Adobe Air download site and tried to install it on the server but it only let me install it on my pc. How do I install it on the server? Also, where on the server do I install it?
My pc is configured so the server is lovejoyp/WebTest. Do I install Adobe Air in a certain folder?
Any help is gratefully appreciated.

You are mixing the types of AIR help.
Locally installed AIR help requires the AIR runtime to be installed on the users PC.
Browser based AIR help does not require that and the runtime is not intended to be installed on a server.
This is all described in the AIR pages on my site. I think you need to read those again and maybe with your IT people.

The operating system is Windows Server 2008 Standard - SP1
I am logged on as the administrator and shortly in the upgrade process, I receive a Window stating:

Other notes that might be of use is that I have tried to uninstall Adobe AIR with a similar error message.

I downloaded and run the Microsoft Install and Uninstall Fix It. Thinking there could be issues with the current version of AIR, I ran the utility and chose to uninstall the current version of AIR; and was successful.
I followed up by restarting the computer and then go to the Adobe AIR download page. When I try to install the new version, it get basically the same error message. The log file from the install is below.

Finally, when I try to run the fixit tool again, it is of no practical use as there is no program to repair.

Adobe AIR - is what I need for communication between C++ and Flash?

We currently have a C++ desktop application running on Windows and Mac. We want to support web-enabled (launching from the web browser) and moving UI into Flash. I am looking for a communication package that can use with VC++ 6.0 and CodeWarrior 8.0 (Xcode later). This communication package will handle messages between C/C++ app (process) and Flash. The communication need to execute fast (no delay).
I searched online about this and came across LocalConnection class and Adobe AIR but not getting enough info to have an answer. I am hoping posting this message will get more information.

Thanks Kalisto for a kind offer. We are using old compilers, CodeWarrior 8.0 compiler on the Mac and VC++ 6.0 in Windows. It is nice if I can find a package that will work with both compilers (platforms). Since we want to communicate in realtime, AIR is probably a best option to go for Windows. I am still looking for the answer on the Mac side of how to communicate from C++ to Flash. I'll ask for your help on AIR when time come.
