is there any API, classes or tools ready to extract data from oracle database and generate xml files, Instead to implement a DOM class and build little by little the xml file??

Yes, download the Oracle XML Development Kit from Oracle's website and look at the documentation of the XML-SQL Utility.

The trouble in "<default>:" - if you set XML_PATH as C:\DATA_FILE\www.xml instead <default>:C:\DATA_FILE\www.xml- it will work correctly.

Select data from database via XML
I want to select data for display and insert data to tables via XML, and I want
to do this from a browser.
I am using "Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.4.0" on HP-UX server
with "JServer Release 8.1.7.4.0.".
The oracle documentation says I need the following in order to do this.
1. XML-SQL Utility
2. XML Parser for Java, V2
3. JDBC driver
4. JDK
5. A Java compliant web server
6. XSL Servlet
How do I verify, if the above software list is available in my environment.
What are all available within the database and what are other software I need to
install.

PushparajIt's a classpath problem. Either you mistyped the class name, or you don't have the class in your classpath. I think Oracle's drivers come in db12.zip or db12.jar or some such. Whatever that jar or zip file is, it has to be in your classpath, but it's not.
Or it is in your classpath, but you're in an appserver context where the classloader that the container provides for your app uses something other than the classpath variable. For instance, in tomcat, the jar file would be uder webapps/yourApplication/WEB-INF/lib I think. -

Your select statement consists of CS whcih may not be a valid comparision operator because of which error is displayed have look of this..
data itab like kna1 occurs 0 with header line.
parameters: s_town like kna1-ORT01.
select ORT01 from KNA1 into table itab where ORT01 = s_town.
Fetch the city and concatenate with TOWN your issue will be sloved.

How to extract data from an arbitrary xml file and export in a nice csv file?

I'm facing big problems in the use of XML files. I have an
application which generates XML files with clusters containing arrays
and scalars like in the example pasted below. My task is to
read it and export the data in a human-friendly CSV document.
Since I don't know the actual content of the cluster, I need some kind
of intelligent vi which goes through the XML file looking for arrays
and other data structures in order to export them properly in the CSV
format (columns with headers).

Data in cluster is stored according to the LabVIEW schema, infact it is generated by LabVIEW.
What I'm trying to do is to access the element of the cluster and read their content using the Invoke node and Property node functions. Could you give it a look, there may be something wrong, I'm not able to access cluster children.

Extracting date from oracle/other databases exactly to java
Hello Friends,
Iam creating a simple program which extracts data from any database and stores it in an XML file and also it can extract data from an XML file and updates the database.
My program is just getting the tablename as an input and from that it builds the query (select * from tablename). Through ResultSet, Iam extracting date fields with getDate() method of ResultSet, which is yeilding converted dates [In oracle if date is 23-DEC-1980, Im getting it as 1980-12-23 in java]. Even getString() method of ResultSet doesn't work.
I want my program to work with any database engine, which may have their own date formats. Kindly can anyone suggest me a way to extract date from any database exactly as it is to java.
NOTE:: I can't use to_char(datefield) type commands in SQLQUERY as the only input to my program is tablename and my query is, select * from tablename.

Here you can observe that HIREDATE column is having date in different format than in oracle. We are getting an error while we are extracting data from an XML file and updating the database, as dateformats differ. Can anyone provide a solution, which extracts date from database to java exactly as per the dateformat in database. -

Currently i am developing a web application where user can upload a MS excel file, then the application will extract data needed and store into database. But facing problems where those excel files may content massive images that make the file size too large to be upload on to the web. Now i try to export those excel files into xml spreadsheet, to get only text data. Need helps on how to extract data from xml spreadsheet. Which API needed?
ThanksWithout getting into too much detail, a DTD defines the elements that can appear in an xml file, the order they can appear in, which elements can be nested within which other elements, what each element can contain, etc, etc. In short, a DTD defines the structure of the xml file and Microsoft defined a DTD for the xml files that are output by Excel.
This is not taken from an xml file produced by Excel but DTDs look a llittle like this very basic example.

Start by downloading the XML SQL Utility and make sure you have
the approriate JDBC 1.1 drivers installed for your database.
There are samples which will get you going included in the

To write data to spreadsheet is more straightforward because Lookout has built-in spreadsheet object. But you need to write SQL statement by yourself to interact with other database.
To read the data back is the same way. Just use "select" SQL statement to query. You can use Datatable object to query.
The "Data Source" can be "DSN = data source name;". The data source name is configured in Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Data Sources(ODBC).

How to extract data from xml and insert into Oracle table
Hi,
I have a large xml file. which will have hundreds of the following transaction tags having column names and there values.
There is a table one of the schema with coulums "actualCostRate","billRate"....etc.
I need to extract the values of these columns and insert into the table

IPhoto doesn't recognize Aperture 3-tagged Faces
Help - I just spent a week tagging faces and places in slides I scanned for someone. I export Versions, but when I import them into iPhoto ('09), it brings in the places but not the faces. Any ideas?
