  • Office Control: Extract values from Excel sheet

    Hello,
I would like to extract cell data of the excel office control.
e.g. I create a excel office control with a plain sheet. The user enters some data (A1=Test).
How can I extract the data of cell A1?
the oposite direction (exporting cell data) works in the example IOS_TEST_SPREADSHEET_MS with method
    wd_this->document->activatexmlsource( EXPORTING xml = contentxmlsource
                                                           errorinformation = error_activatexmlsource_stru ).
but how can I IMPORT the data (after the user has changed it) again?
    Thanks in advance!

Providing you are using a windows based Oracle server and providing the Excel data is formatted as follows:
Each sheet in the workbook represents a "table"
The first row on each sheet gives the column names in each column.
All subsequent rows are the data for those columns.
You can use Oracle's Heterogeneous Services (HS) to connect to the spreadsheet as external database (via an ODBC datasource).
1- Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Data Sources (ODBC)>System DSN and create a data source with appropriate driver. Name it EXCL.
2- In %ORACLE_HOME%\Network\Admin\Tnsnames.ora fie add entry:
    EXCL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 10.12.0.24)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = EXCL)
    (HS = OK)
Here SID is the name of data source that you have just created.
    3- In %ORACLE_HOME%\Network\Admin\Listener.ora file add:
    (SID_DESC =
    (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
    (SID_NAME = <hs_sid>)
    (ORACLE_HOME = <oracle home>)
    under SID_LIST_LISTENER like:
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
    (ORACLE_HOME = d:\ORA9DB)
    (PROGRAM = extproc)
    (SID_DESC =
    (GLOBAL_DBNAME = ORA9DB)
    (ORACLE_HOME = d:\ORA9DB)
    (SID_NAME = ORA9DB)
    (SID_DESC =
    (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
    (SID_NAME = EXCL)
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\ora9db)
Dont forget to reload the listener
    c:\> lsnrctl reload
4- In %ORACLE_HOME%\hs\admin create init<HS_SID>.ora. For our sid EXCL we create file initexcl.ora.
In this file set following two parameters:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = excl
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 0
5- Now connect to Oracle database and create database link with following command:
    SQL> CREATE DATABASE LINK excl
    2 USING 'excl'
    3 /
    Database link created.
Now you can perform query against this database like you would for any remote database.
    SQL> SELECT table_name FROM all_tables@excl;
    TABLE_NAME
    DEPT

  • Can BAM extract data from Excel Sheet?

    Hi,
    Thanks for seeing my message.
We have huge data in the form of Excel sheet with large number of regular updates every day.
Can BAM read Excel sheet so I can make a dash board reflecting lot of KPI's to track?
    regards,

BAM Excel View is a report type in BAM. It does not retrieve data. You might be able to use a BPEL file adapter to read the file and publish data to BAM.

  • How do summarize data from several sheets

How do I extract data from several sheets and summarize this data in a separate summary sheet?  What formula should I use?  When I used Excel I would use a formula like =John!G$5 for each cell I wanted from other sheets.  I'm having no luck trying to use the iWork Numbers suggestions.

    Hi Sid,
"When I used Excel I would use a formula like =John!G$5 for each cell I wanted from other sheets."
    In Numbers,use:
=John::G$5 to copy the contents of cell G5 on the Table named "John" to the cell containing the formula.
Both cells must be in the same Document. If there is more than one Table named "John", the formula must also include the name of the Sheet containing the Table being referenced.
    (eg. =Sheet 1::John::G$5 )

  • Regarding extracting the images of the signatures from the signed pdf

We are using a TOPAZ sig pad Model: T-LBK750SE-BHSB-R to sign pdf documents using acrobat plugin.
The PDF has  more than one signature field to sign.
All this happens in a web application that uses Javascript to submit the pdf.
We also have a requirement to capture the signature as a image.
However, the customers (one or more) will only sign the pdf  and so, we will somehow have to extract the images of the signatures from the signed pdf.
Could you please let me know if this can be done using pdf apis (like IText etc) or some other server side APIs.

If you set up standard password security so that form filling and signing existing digital signature fields is allowed, you should be OK.

  • Oracle function to extract data into excel sheet

I have extracted data from a couple of tables onto a view. Basically I have got about 15 coloums in that view but i need to extract the data in the view into an Excel sheet.
I just want to know if their is a function in oracle whereby i can export the data in the view onto an excel sheet, because this statements is going to be scripted and run every morning for the data to be processed.
    Oracle version: oracle 9i
    OS : Windows 2003

There are at least three options.
One is to use UTL_FILE or spool to write the results out as a comma separated file. Excel can then read the .CSV without a hitch. Only use spool you want to overwrite the file (on create a new one) each day.
The second approach would still use UTL_FILE but use Tom Kyte's OWA_SYLK utility to write an Excel-readable file.
The third approach would be to reverse the direction. Define your database as a DNS datasource and embed your query in the Excel spreadsheet. This obviates the need for the user to pfaff around with CSV files but does require a bit more work on the OS side.
Which approach you choose rather depends upon your precise needs.
    Cheers, APC

If this is a one-off then IDEs such as TOAD typically
let you export the results of a query in an
    appropriate format for Excel.Note:
because this statements is going to be scripted and run
every morning for the data to be processedSo that won't be feasible in this case, but it was a good point to make.

  • Need to pre-populate and Extract data from static PDF form

Hi Jasmin or Jayan or anyone else that can answer.
I have a requirement to use Digital Signatures.  Because of that, the forms must be static PDFs and the form variables will be “document form”.  I want to pre-populate the form via an SQL query and custom render process and render it as PDF so that the submitter can apply a digital signature when he/she is done and ready to submit for approvalSubsequent approvers will also digitally sign the form.  I know that I will specify the custom render to render only once and thereby preserve the signature(s) on the form.  I do, however, need to extract data from the form to control the business process.  I cannot access the data in the form the same way I do with an xdp and I also cannot pre-populate the same way I do with an xdp.
Any suggestions on how to attack this?

Parth, one problem with your approach is he will submit PDF and therefore you won't be able to put the PDF in a variable that's suppose to contain just xml.
The prepopulation should be the same. If you start off with an xdp, then you will call a render service that merges data with your xdp to create a PDF.
Now when you submit, you will submit the entire PDF back in the Document Form variable. In Workbench, you can use the FormDataIntegration service to extract data from that PDF that's being stored under Document Form var/object/document and put it in an xml variable. Then you can just use xPath to do your condition.
I'm assuming you'll just pass that same Document Form variable to the next step, because if you do any change to the PDF it'll brake the signature.
Let me know if I missed anything.

  • Extract data from Oracle in excel file

    Hi,
I have a requirement where in I need to extract data from Oracle in excel file and the excel worksheet name should be "Data".
for eg. excel file name "AR Data_DDMMYY" and excel worksheet name "Data"
I have used the UTL_FILE API to extract the tab delimited data which can be opened in excel but it is not exactly an excel file as the worksheet name is same as the file name.
I tried using utl_file.fcopy and frename.

    Hi,

    http://technology.amis.nl/2011/02/19/create-an-excel-file-with-plsql/
but the requirement is to generate excel 2003 file.
I tried changing the .xlsx to .xls and it gives a note while opening the file "The file you are trying to open, abc.xls, is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?"Then you have three options:
    1) stop using anton's package and find another one that supports the old and deprecated version of Excel 2003
    2) write your own package to produce an Excel file.
    3) Upgrade your version of Excel to a recent version
I tried the programs from other links on the forum but I am still getting this message. The client does not want this message to be displayed as the excel file works as an input to another system.
Can anyone help me with the issue?
Also, is it true that the programatically generated excel file is actually an xml file which is renamed to .xls and hence it shows the message while opening such files?Yes, Excel supports several different formats for it's files. By default, if you save an XLS files from Excel, it writes it out in a Microsoft proprietary binary format, which you would be hard pushed to replicate easily from PL/SQL. Excel also has the ability to save it's files as XML format, which is more readable and easier to produce programatically, whilst still allowing you to have multiple sheets, formulas and formatting included in it. That's the format that most people who need formatting and multiple sheets opt for when programatically generating their data as excel workbooks. (There's also an SLYK format that people used to use before that, but it's not as flexible)
If you want to write your own, the easiest thing to do is to start with a blank workbook in Excel, and put in your basic requirements e.g. a couple of named sheets, and some data in different formats (number, date, text etc.) and different formatting options etc. Save that file in XML format from Excel and then open up the file using notepad/wordpad to look at the structure. There'll be a whole load of redundant rubbish Microsoft put in there, but you should be able to figure out the basic structure of XML required to give you what you want.

  • Best way to extract data from 2 years records/Numbers files for tax return?

    Hi
I am wanting to find a way of generating my annual tax returns from my financial records, which will be stored in a separate Numbers file for each Calendar Year.
As the Tax Year (in the UK) is different from the Calendar Year (in the UK it runs from April 6 to April 5), I would need to extract information from two different Numbers files, to a third Numbers file. Is it possible to do this, and would this be relatively straightforward?
I'd be interested to hear from others who have used Numbers for a similar purpose, and how they have organised things.
    Thanks
    Nick

The easiest soluce is to forget the use of separate documents.
Use one sheet per year and it will be really easy to achieve your goal using only formulas.
With separate documents, the unique soluce is to use an AppleScript.
I may write one but I'm a bit tired because I posted a lot of such soluce and in most cases, I don't know if they give satisfaction to the askers.
Coding for the clouds isn't my cup of tea so I think that for some days, I will leave AppleScript and will work upon the archives of my workshop.
