Extract values from a long text

Hi, I need help in extracting value from a long text
Sample data:
A_BOARD_MEETING_600
I need to extract MEETING from the text.
I tried to use CHARINDEX and SUBSTRING but it's not returning the text I wanted.  I hope you can help me.
select SUBSTRING(ID, CHARINDEX('_', ID,1+CHARINDEX('_', ID))+1, CHARINDEX('_', ID, 1+CHARINDEX('_', ID, 1+CHARINDEX('_', ID,1)))-1 ) from table
Using the query above it's returning MEETING_600.

Hi, thanks!  But would like to ask how can this be converted where it can get the column ID in a table, I'm still learning SQL.
Select Parsename(Replace(YOURCOLUMNNAME,'_','.'),2)From your tablename

  • [Forum FAQ] SharePoint 2013: Extracting values from a multi-value enabled lookup column and merge values to a multi-value enabled column

    For some business requirements, users want to extract values from a multi-value enabled lookup column
    and add items to another list based on each separate value. In contrast, others want to find duplicate values in the list and merge associated values to a multi-value enabled column and then
    add items to another list based on the merged value. All of these can be achieved using SharePoint Designer 2013 Workflow.

    on each separate value using SharePoint Designer 2013.

    Steps to create Workflow
    How to
    extract values from a multi-value enabled lookup column and
    add items to another list based on each separate value using SharePoint Designer 2013.
    For example, they have three lists as below. They want to
    extract values from the Destinations column
    in Lookup2 and add items to Lookup3 based on each country and set Title to current item: ID.
    Lookup1:
    Title (Single line of text)
    Lookup2:
    Title (Single line of text), Destinations (Lookup; Get information from: Lookup1 in Title column).\
    Lookup3:
    Title (Single line of text), Country (Single line of text).
    Important action
    1. Loop Shape: SharePoint Designer 2013 support two types of loops: loop n times and loop with condition.
    Loops must also conform to the following rules:
    Loops must be within a stage, and stages cannot be within a loop.
    Steps may be within a loop.
    Loops may have only one entry and one exit point.
    2. Utility Actions: It contains many actions, such as ‘Extract Substring from Index of String’ and ‘Find substring in String’.
    Three scenarios
    We need to loop through the string returned from the look up column and look for commas. There are three
    scenarios:
    1.  No comma but string is non-empty so there is only one country.
    2.  At least one comma so there is at least two or more countries to loop.
    3.  In the loop we have consumed all the commas so we have found the last country.
    Things to note
    There are two things to note:
    1. "Find string in string (output to Variable:index)"  will return -1 if doesn't find
    the searched for string.
    2. In the opening statement "Set Variable: Countries to Current Item:Destinations" set the return
    field as  "Lookup Values, Comma Delimited".
    Steps to create Workflow
    Create a custom list named Lookup1.
    Create a custom list named Lookup2, add column: Destinations (Lookup; Get information from: Lookup1 in Title column).
    Create a custom list named Lookup3, add column: Country (Single line of text).
    Create a workflow associated to Lookup2.
    Add conditions and actions:
    Start the workflow automatically when an item is created.
    Add item to Lookup2, then workflow will be started automatically and create multiple items to lookup3.
    See the below in workflow History List:
    How to merge values to a multi-value enabled column and add item to another list based on the
    merged value using SharePoint Designer 2013
    For example, they have three lists as below. They want to find duplicate values in the Title column in
    Lookup3 and merge country column to a multi-value enabled column and then add item to lookup2 and set the Title to Current Item: Title.
    Lookup1:
    Title (Single line of text)
    Lookup3:
    Title (Single line of text), Country (Single line of text).
    Lookup2:
    Title (Single line of text), Test (Single line of text).
    Important actions
    "Call HTTP Web Service"
    action: In SharePoint 2013 workflows, we can call a web service using a new action introduced in SharePoint 2013 named Call HTTP Web Service. This action
    is flexible and allows you to make simple calls to a web service easily, or, if needed, you can create more complex calls using HTTP verbs as well as allowing you to add HTTP headers.
    “Build Dictionary"
    action:
    The Dictionary variable type is a new variable type in the SharePoint 2013 Workflow.
    The following are the three actions specifically designed for the Dictionary variable type: Build Dictionary, Count Items in a Dictionary and Get an Item from a Dictionary.
    The "Call HTTP Web Service" workflow action would be useless without the new "Dictionary" workflow action.
    Things to note
    The
    HTTP URI is set to https://sitename/_api/web/lists/GetByTitle('listname')/items?$orderby=Id%20desc and the HTTP method is set to “GET”. Then the list will be sort by Id in descending order.
    Use Get
    d/results(0)/Id form
    Variable: ResponseContent (Output to
    Variable: maxid) to get the Max ID.
    Use Set
    Variable: minid to Current List:ID to get the Min ID.
    Use Copy from
    Variable: destianation , starting at
    1 (Output to
    Variable: destianation) to remove the space.
    Steps to create Workflow
    Create a custom list named Lookup1.
    Create a custom list named Lookup2, add column: Test (Single line of text).
    Create a custom list named Lookup3, add column: Country (Single line of text).
    Create a workflow associated to Lookup3.
    Add a new "Build Dictionary" action
    to define the http request header:
    Add a Call HTTP Web Serviceaction, click on
    this and paste your http request.
    To associate the
    RequestHeader variable, select the Call action property,
    set the
    RequestHeaders property to
    RequestHeader:
    In the Call action, click on
    response and associate the response to a new
    variable: ResponseContent (of type Dictionary).
    After the Call action add Get item from Dictionary action to get the Max ID.
    Add Set Workflow Variable action to get the Min ID.
    Add Loop Shape (Loop with Condition) to get all the duplicate titles and integrate them to a string.
    Create item in Lookup2.
    The final Stage should look like this:
    Start the workflow automatically when an item is created.
    Add item to Lookup3, then workflow will be started automatically and create item to lookup2.

    GREAT info, but it may be helpful to note that when replacing a portion of the variable "Countries" with a whitespace character, you may cause the workflow to fail in a few specific cases (certain lookup fields will not accept this and will automatically
    cancel).  I only found this out when recreating your workflow on a similar, but much more complex list set.
    To resolve this issue, I used another utility action (Extract Substring from Index of List) to clear out the whitespace.  I configured it as "Copy from
    Variable: Countries, starting at
    1 (Output to Variable: Countries), which takes care of this issue in those few cases.
    Otherwise, WOW!  AWESOME JOB!  Thanks!  :)

  • Problem extracting value from reference

    Hi all,
    I have a main VI where the user specifies a range for acquiring data. These values are then passed to a subVI which iterates a loop an according number of times. I have created a reference in the subVI which passes the position of the data acquisition in the range specified as I want to provide a progress bar which would be calculated as (max value - current value)/(maxvalue - minvalue).
    I created an indicator to show the current value on the main VI which is related to the reference I created and when I run the main VI I can see this value changing correctly. The problem is that I cannot find a way to wire this value into the formula above. I tried changing the indicator to a control, but the value is not passed.
    I have attached my code along with the subVIs to illustrate the problem. Current Frequency A increments correctly on the screen whereas Current Frequency B stays constant. I have also tried using local variables, property nodes and an OpenVIReference Node but none of these solve the problem.
    I'm sure this must be possible so if somebody could tell me the correct way to go about it then that would be much appreciated :-)
    Many thanks,
    Ian

    No worries - I managed to solve my own problem.
    I realised if I did the calculation and created the progress bar on the subVI and made the reference straight to that then it wouldn't required the need to bring a wire from the reference.
    Still, I'd be intrigued to know if I could've done it the other way tho...

    Hi,
    You need to declare the namespace of each element used in the XPath expression, like this :
    SQL> select extractvalue( XMLDATA
      2                     , '/samp:Field1/UTI/U01'
      3                     , 'xmlns:samp="http://www.oradev.com/chipsxml.xsd"' ) "XMLDATA"
      4  from chipsxmltable1 x
      5  ;
    XMLDATA
    No
    SQL> select extract( XMLDATA
      2                , '/samp:Field1/UTI'
      3                , 'xmlns:samp="http://www.oradev.com/chipsxml.xsd"'
      4                ).getstringval() "XMLDATA"
      5  from chipsxmltable1 x
      6  ;
    XMLDATA
    <UTI>
      <U01>No</U01>
      <U02>Y</U02>
      <U03>Y</U03>
      <U03a>Y</U03a>
      <U03b>Y</U03b>
      <U03c>Y</U03c>
      <U04>Y</U04>
      <U05>Y</U05>
    </UTI>
    Please see EXTRACT and EXTRACTVALUE documentation :

    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/functions052.htm#SQLRF06173
    BTW, "XMLDATA" is a pseudo-column used by Oracle. I don't know if it'll ever cause any conflict but maybe you should rename your column.

  • How to extract values from pricing procedure for conditions in CRM Billing?

    I have a number of conditions in the pricing procedure in CRM Billing that I would like to extract to SAP BW. How can this be done?
    Is there a standard extractor for CRM Billing similar to the SD Billing extractor "Extraction of SD Billing Conditions" (2LIS_13_VDKON)?
    If there is no standard extractor, is there another way to extract the conditions and the related values?
    I am using the standard CRM Billing Extractor 0BEA_CRMB already, so maybe an append could solve my problem. How can this be done? In what CRM-tables can I find the values from pricing procedure for conditions in CRM Billing?

  • Extracting value from XML tags in Java

    Hi all,
    I need to extract the value from a string (XML Format). Eg. <Name>Ray</Name> and displaying Name: Ray
    The string value is like any other String class object except that it is format with XML tags. I have quite a few examples that shows how a value can be read from a .xml file but none that describe how to get a value from a String object.

  • Call http service extract value from person/group field

    Hi
    I have a list that has people or group field.
    When Runing my WF I want to get in to a variable the members of the group that is in people or group field.
    I would like to extract members from group using call http action.
    How can i start?
    which URL should i put in "Enter the HTTP service URL"?
    pleas your help.

    Hi,
    You can use the following URL to extract the members from group
    http://siteurl/_api/Web/SiteGroups/getbyname('groupname')/users
    You can create a workflow variable and extract the value from the people or group field
    Build the URL using as follows
    [%Workflow Context:Current Site URL%]/_api/Web/SiteGroups/getbyname([%Variable: GroupName%])/Users
    For more information how to use the Web Service in workflow use the following article.

  • Extract values from text in reporting environment

    I need write a query based on a bunch of user supplied IDs. The IDs will be pasted as plain text, one per row, by end user in a memo field in the reporting environment, and I need to do something like this:
    SELECT PHONE_NUMBER FROM TELEPHONE
    WHERE
    ID IN('MEMO_ID1', 'MEMO_ID2',.....)
    Reporting environment does not provide any tools to automatically convert plain text into IDs.
    Is there any way in SQL I can do this?

    In this case you may going for the "words" with something like
    with memos as (
      select 'id1'||chr(10)||'id2'||chr(10)||'id3'||chr(10)||'id4' id from dual
    , telephone as (
      select 'id2' id, '46574' PHONE_NUMBER from dual
    select
      PHONE_NUMBER
    from telephone
    where
    id in (
      select regexp_substr(id, '\w+',1,level) id
      from memos
      connect by
      level <= regexp_count(id,'\w+',1)
    PHONE_NUMBER
    46574But take a look at the docs, http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e25518/adfns_regexp.htm#CHDJGBGG,
    to be sure that \w covers all alpahnumeric characters could be in the id, more important be aware, that all characters not belonging to the character class \w, are treated as separators, as # for example.
    So another way could be going for the separators. Notice that chr(13) is replaced by chr(10) before, in order to cover the mosts common linebreaks.
    with memos as (
      select 'id1'||chr(10)||'id_#2'||chr(13)||chr(10)||'id3'||chr(10)||'id4' id from dual
    , r_memos as (
      select replace (id, chr(13), chr(10)) id from memos

  • Need to show some values from Lookup in Text Area of Request Dataset

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where I need to display values(which are roles) coming from a lookup in text area. The reason behind is to show to end users list of roles. They should not be able to select these roles.They will just refer the list and enter desired role in a text field. I thought of using text area as the component to be used for showing these roles. However, I cannot use lookup property for widget="textarea" in the request dataset.
    Can we do this or is there any other component where I can show list of roles so that users can just refer the list.
    Thanks.

    TextArea is different type of widget. It doesn't come with lookup.

    Even if they select then don't use that field for further processing. You can use Attribute instead of AttributeReference.
    Workaround:
    Have one text are and use Prepopulate adapter to populate those values.

  • Extracting values from drop down buttons html forms

    Hello,
    I would like to know how to obtain the values which is selected through the drop down box. Iam using Java Script as a client side scripting lang..
    Here is my code so far..do let me know what to do further. Iam not getting the alert mesg which is sitting in the put() so let me know how the put method should work
    Thanks a lot
    avis
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    <!-- hide
    function put()
    choice = document.forms.Pri.list.optionsdocument.forms.Pri.list.selectedIndex]
    if (choice ="0")
    alert("enter state"+choice);
    function goto()
    Pri.list.options.value=" "
    //end -->
    </script>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    <form name="Pri" method = "get" action="">
    State<SELECT NAME="list" onChange="put()">
              <OPTION>
    <OPTION>Alabama
    <OPTION>California
              </SELECT>
    <input type="submit" Value="Submit">
    <input type=button name="Reset" value=Reset onClick=goto()>
    </form>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>

    I'm not sure what you're talking about... if you don't select an option from the list, the onchange function isn't going to be called, so of course the the alert isn't working.
    You sound like you are complaining that when the form submits, the value for the select list is the first option (""). I fail to see why this is a problem. If the value is "", then you handle it like nothing was selected. In a single select list like that, an option is always selected. The whole point of having a blank option is to allow the user to pick it. Otherwise don't put a blank option.
    In general, you don't need to use a button to do reset, you use a reset button: input type="reset". And it'll reset on it's own.

  • Extracting values from multi select check boxes delimeted by ":"

    A set of check boxes in an Apex form produces "V1:V2:V3" in the target field, these are the key fields from a dynamic selection lists based on a table that contains the key and value fields. Does anyone have a sample SQL fragment that will produce a record for each one of the values ?
    FORM_TABLE
    ID (1)
    CB_TARGET (V1:V2:V4)
    LIST_TABLE
    KEY_F (V1),(V2),(V3),(V4) etc.
    VALUE_F (Value 1), (Value 2), (Value 3), (Value 4 ...)
    Even though there is only a single row in this example in the "FORM_TABLE", how can this be transformed to :
    1, V1
    1, V2
    1, V4
    Regards
    H

    Does anyone have a sample SQL fragment that will produce a record for each one of the values ?Does it have to be SQL? The simplest approach is probably PL/SQL, using the <tt>apex_util.string_to_table</tt> function.
    For a purely SQL-based solution, use whatever string-to-row technique is appropriate to your situation.

  • Help needed in extracting values from XML

    SAMPLE XML:
    - <Form1>
    - <Name>
    <Ttl>MR</Ttl>
    <Fore>ABC1</Fore>
    <Sur>XYZ2</Sur>
    </Name>
    - <Address>
    <Line>ADD_LINE_1</Line>
    <Line>ADD_LINE_2</Line>
    <PostCode>PST CDE</PostCode>
    </Address>
    <BirthDate>0001-01-01</BirthDate>
    - <Details>
    <TotalEarnings>1234567.00</TotalEarnings>
    <TotalDeduction>12345.00</TotalDeduction>
    </Details>
    </Form1>
    - <Form1>
    - <Name>
    <Ttl>MR</Ttl>
    <Fore>ABC2</Fore>
    <Sur>XYZ2</Sur>
    </Name>
    - <Address>
    <Line>ADD_LINE_3</Line>
    <Line>ADD_LINE_4</Line>
    <PostCode>PST CDE</PostCode>
    </Address>
    <BirthDate>0002-02-02</BirthDate>
    <Gender>female</Gender>
    - <Details>
    <TotalEarnings>12345.00</TotalEarnings>
    <TotalDeduction>123.00</TotalDeduction>
    </Details>
    </Form1>
    There can be any 'n' number of <Form1>'s in one XML.But I want to get only the details of the person whose TotalEarnings>1million. Details include
    Name->Ttl,Fore,Sur
    which in this case would be MR,ABC1,XYZ1
    Address->Line,Line,Postcode
    which in this case would be ADD_LINE_1,ADD_LINE_2,PST CDE
    Birthdate
    which in this case would be 0001-01-01
    Gender
    which in this case would be "null" as there is no Gender tag present
    Details->TotalEarnings,TotalDeduction
    which in this case would be 1234567.00,12345.00
    The technique I was using is,
    1. Convert to clob
    2. User dbms_instr find the location of <Form1> in a loop
    3. For every occurence of <Form1> I find <TotalEarnings> value and check if this is greater than 1 million.
    4. If true, I use dbms_instr to get the values of all the tags inside <Form1>
    5. The drawback of using dbms_instr is that it gets the value of first occurence of whatever sting we supply.In this case dbms_instr(xml,'<Gender>',position of Form1) will not return null whereas it will return "Female" from the next form. This is wrong as it doesnt belong to the person who earns more than a million.
    Can anyone suggest a way to fetch the values that only belong to the form of the person who earns more than a million?

    There can be any 'n' number of <Form1>'s in one
    XML.Not if you want the XML to be valid there can't. You would need a root element around all the <Form1>'s to make it valid.
    The technique I was using is,
    1. Convert to clob
    2. User dbms_instr find the location of <Form1> in a
    loop

    Can anyone suggest a way to fetch the values that

    I'd suggest you start reading some of the manuals regarding XML functionality in Oracle rather than trying to manually parse it all.

  • Extract words from JSP into text file

    Hi,
    I have a big problem:
    I want to extract selected words from a jsp file.
    Following are found in one of my jsp file:
    E.g.
    1) <td width="217"><font face="verdana,arial" size=2>ORGANISATION UNIT NAME<font color="#FF0000"> <font
    id="fontMandatory">*</font></font>
    I want to retrieve "ORGANISATION UNIT NAME"
    2)errPrompt(frm.txtDesc, "Maximum length is just 100 character only");
    I want to retrieve "Maximum length is just 100 character only"
    I try String tokenising, then check that is the token ends with ">", then the next token is the one
    I want, then loop until "<" is found. BUT this would not work as there is no spacing between some of
    the tags and the words.(e.g. <p>abc)--> This cauese the whole token to be <p>abc, so the "abc" will
    not be extracted as it does not have a "ends with >" in front of it.
    Even with using ">" as a checking does not work for pop up messages, as it does not have tags(refer
    to e.g 2).
    Please reply a.s.a.p...
    Really urgent!!
    Thank You
    Michelle

    for extracting the HTML tags, u can use DOM/DHTML
    I dont remember the syntxes, how to use, but i know that it is possible, just go thru' the DOM/DHTML

  • Extracting Value from Message Payload of the Failed Messages

    Hi Experts,
    We are working on PI 7.0. We have an asynchronous scenario from JMS to IDOC. Vehicle related data is being sent to SAP.
    We have a requirement where in we have to extract the vehicle commission number (a field in message payload) of all the failed messages in sxmb_moni(mapping failure).
    Is there a way we can achieve this? Can we write some OS level script to the same.
    If yes please help me out here.
    This is a critical issue.
    Kindly advice.
    Regards,
    Pooja

    Hi Pooja,
    We have done something similar, but instead of the Vehicle Comm Num, we just retrieved our Transaction ID. Please see the links below. These will send out an email if there was an issue with the message mapping.
    Customize E-Mail Body and Subject in Alerts in SAP PI 7.31 – Java Stack Only – Part 1 – ESR
    Trigger customized email on error in PI
    XI Alerts from UDF using file adapter.
    Trigger one alert per failed message
    How to send variable data through alert mail without BPM
    Raise Alert and also Execute the message
