Extracting Textfield Text from Display List

I am attempting to extract the text in a textfield that is
displayed with the container (see below) display list. The code
snippet I am using is listed below.
for (i = 0; i < container.numChildren; i++) {
var temp:TextField = new TextField();
// temp = container.getChildAt(i);
trace(container.getChildAt(i));
trace(temp.text);
When I execute this, the trace(container.getChildAt(i)) line
displays <object TextField>. But, when I activate the comment
line temp = container.getChildAt(i); I get an error about coerceing
a static variable. Can anyone give me a clue how I can trace the
text in the textfield container.getChildAt(i)?

I found some example code in the
help->clases->staticText that I modified as below to solve
the problem.
for (i = 0; i < container.numChildren; i++) {
var displayitem:DisplayObject = container.getChildAt(i);
if (displayitem is TextField) {
trace("a static text field is item " + i + " on the display
list");
var myFieldLabel:TextField = TextField(displayitem);
trace("and contains the text: " + myFieldLabel.text);
}

  • Extract Blog Text From Domain File?

    I have a year's blogging in a domain file. I've taken down the blog and started a new one, but would like to extract the text from the old year-long blog.
    Is there an efficient way to do this other than switching that domain file back and going day by day?

    There's a file in the blog domain package titled index.xml.gz. If you expand that file to get the index.xml file inside you might find the text. You will recognize the text in there but it's buried in a lot of "junk".
    If you're starting a new blog for next year I suggest you use one of the blogging sites like Posterous, that are much more powerful and will let you manipulate the contents nearly any way you'd like. You can even embed that blog into one of your iWeb pages like in this demo page: Embed a Site Within an iWeb Page.
    Using a 3rd party blogging site will also let you add to it online from any computer, Mac or PC or from mobile devices when on the road.

  • How to Extract Error Text from RFC.Exception within BPM?

    Hi,
    I have a scenario MPA -> XI <-> RFC.  A synchronous RFC call will be performed inside a BPM on a SAP system.  An exception message is expected if RFC raises exception.  However, there don't seem to be any mechanism that allows logic/step in BPM to extract the error text from the RFC exception message in order to send it out to user as an error alert.
    Appreciate if anyone can shed some lights.  Thx in advance.
    Regards
    Chong Wah

    Hi,
    you can always wrap your RFC with another one
    in which you'll catch the exception
    and pass in a normal field back to the XI
    and then do the standard as per my weblog:

  • How to use automator to extract specific text from json txt file

    I'm trying to set up an Automator folder action to extract certain data from json files. I'm pulling metadata from YouTube videos, and I want to extract the Title of the video, the URL for the video, and the date uploaded.
    Sample json data excerpts:
    "upload_date": "20130319"
    "title": "[title of varying length]"
    "webpage_url": "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=[video id]"
    Based on this thread, seems I should be able to have Automator (or any means of using a shell script) find data and extract it into a .txt file, which I can then open as a space delimited file in Excel or Numbers. That answer assumes a static number of digits for the text to be extracted, though. Is there a way Automator can search through the json file and extract the text - however long - after "title" and "webpage_url"?
    json files are all in the same folder, and all end in .info.json.
    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Hello
    You might try the following perl script, which will process every *.json file in current directory and yield out.csv.
    * CSV currently uses space for field separator as you requested. Note that Numbers.app cannot import such CSV file correctly.
    #!/bin/bash
    /usr/bin/perl -CSDA -w <<'EOF' - *.json > out.csv
    use strict;
    use JSON::Syck;
    $JSON::Syck::ImplicitUnicode = 1;
    # json node paths to extract
    my @paths = ('/upload_date', '/title', '/webpage_url');
    for (@ARGV) {
        my $json;
        open(IN, "<", $_) or die "$!";
            local $/;
            $json = <IN>;
        close IN;
        my $data = JSON::Syck::Load($json) or next;
        my @values = map { &json_node_at_path($data, $_) } @paths;
            #   output CSV spec
            #   - field separator = SPACE
            #   - record separator = LF
            #   - every field is quoted
            local $, = qq( );
            local $\ = qq(\n);
            print map { s/"/""/og; q(").$_.q("); } @values;
    sub json_node_at_path ($$) {
        #   $ : (reference) json object
        #   $ : (string) node path
        #   E.g. Given node path = '/abc/0/def', it returns either
        #       $obj->{'abc'}->[0]->{'def'}   if $obj->{'abc'} is ARRAY; or
        #       $obj->{'abc'}->{'0'}->{'def'} if $obj->{'abc'} is HASH.
        my ($obj, $path) = @_;
        my $r = $obj;
        for ( map { /(^.+$)/ } split /\//, $path ) {
            if ( /^[0-9]+$/ && ref($r) eq 'ARRAY' ) {
                $r = $r->[$_];
            else {
                $r = $r->{$_};
        return $r;
    EOF
    For Automator workflow, you may use Run Shell Script action as follows, which will receive json files and yield out_YYYY-MM-DD_HHMMSS.csv on desktop.
    Run Shell Script action
        - Shell = /bin/bash
        - Pass input = as arguments
        - Code = as follows
    #!/bin/bash
    /usr/bin/perl -CSDA -w <<'EOF' - "$@" > ~/Desktop/out_"$(date '+%F_%H%M%S')".csv
    use strict;
    use JSON::Syck;
    $JSON::Syck::ImplicitUnicode = 1;
    # json node paths to extract
    my @paths = ('/upload_date', '/title', '/webpage_url');
    for (@ARGV) {
        my $json;
        open(IN, "<", $_) or die "$!";
            local $/;
            $json = <IN>;
        close IN;
        my $data = JSON::Syck::Load($json) or next;
        my @values = map { &json_node_at_path($data, $_) } @paths;
            #   output CSV spec
            #   - field separator = SPACE
            #   - record separator = LF
            #   - every field is quoted
            local $, = qq( );
            local $\ = qq(\n);
            print map { s/"/""/og; q(").$_.q("); } @values;
    sub json_node_at_path ($$) {
        #   $ : (reference) json object
        #   $ : (string) node path
        #   E.g. Given node path = '/abc/0/def', it returns either

  • Extract from ALV List

    Hello All,
    Please suggest me is there any way to extract the data from ALV LIST.
    For example:
    SUBMIT  XXX WITH SELECTION-TABLE rspar_tab AND RETURN.
    This XXX  program gives the result in alv list.Once it returns back to original program i want to fetch the results.
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Vinoth

    Hi Vinoth...
    SUBMIT XXX WITH SELECTION-TABLE rspar_tab AND RETURN.
    Whether ur submit program (XXX) is standard or Zreport?
    1, If it is standard means u need to copy the program  in to ZXXX..
        And now change the ZXXX.
        Fetch where the final Internal table is populating for output display..
    There u need to Export that internal table ..
    eg:
    export g_t_belege1 to memory id 'ZSARA'.
    export bestand1 to memory id 'ZSARA1'.
    1,g_t_belege1
    2,bestand1
    these are internal tables in the Submit program (ZXXX)..
    Now u may come to ur original program..
    and import this..
      import g_t_belege1 from memory id 'ZSARA'.
      import bestand1 from memory id 'ZSARA1'.
    g_t_belege1,bestand1 these internal table structures sholud be same as Submit program structures..
    Else.. it may give Dump ..
    Now u may process the internal tables  g_t_belege1,bestand1 by ur wish..
    2,
    If it Zreport means no need to copy ..
    Just export into one id and import in ur original program.
    Hope it will helps..
    Reward if it is useful means.
    Regards
    Bala..

  • Problem to extract text from HTML document

    The Problem is that I can't find any patten to parser the html files"
    EX: I need to get the Classification = "Theory of Computation","ANALYSIS OF ALGORITHMS AND PROBLEM COMPLEXITY","Numerical Algorithms and Problem","Mathematics of Computing","NUMERICAL ANALYSIS"......etc .
    The section code about "Classification" is below.

    One approach is to download Htmlparser from sourceforge
    http://htmlparser.sourceforge.net/ and write the rules to match title, abstract etc.
    Another approach is to write your own parser that extract only title, abstract etc.
    1. tokenize the html file. --> convert html into tokens (tag and value)
    2. write a simple parser to extract certain information
    find out about the pattern of text you want to extract. For instance "<class "abstract">.
    then writing a rule for extracting abstract such as
    if (tag is abstract ) then extract abstract text
    apply the same concept for other tags
    Attached is the sample parser that was used to extract title and abstract from acm html files. Please modify to include keyword and other fields.

  • Extracting text from BLOB data

    Let me start by saying that I'm flying by the seat of my pants on this and I'm neither a CR expert nor can I write SQL. Short of a little basic back on my old Apple IIe (way back when,) my programming skills are essentially nil.
    That said, here's what I'm trying to acheive.
    I have created a report that uses an ODBC connection to an Oracle database. It works fine, all the tables are properly linked and it delivers a properly functioning report. I now need to extract some text from a BLOB field. I have all the necessary tables added to the report and I've linked them as well. However, when I add an SQL expression and paste in the  SQL string that uses the function, "getprop" to try to extract the necessary text from the BLOB data, I get the error: "missing expression"
    I notice that within the SQL Expression editor, the field for the BLOB data is not listed in the table in which it resides, though the non-BLOB fields are listed. That is, when I say: select getprop(sl.blobdata,'confirmCompany'), there is no sl.blobdata field which I believe is the source of the "missing expression" error.
    If I create a new blank report and simply paste the SQL in as a command in the Database Expert, it will deliver the expected results. I get the two fields I need. This means the SQL string is fine. But, of course, all the other columns I need are not available. As I mentioned above, I can't write SQL and I have a fully functional  report that has everything except the two columns i want to add from the BLOB field.
    However if I go back to my complete report and add the SQL as a command in the Database Expert, it then asks me to link the fields to the other tables already in the report and that just doesn't work.
    I apologize for any mucked up terminology and general concept confusing statements I've made above and hope someone will be able to help me out.
    Thanks in advance.
    ~m

    So, in this case you might create a subreport that has
    "the SQL in as a command in the Database Expert, it will deliver the expected results. I get the two fields I need. This means the SQL string is fine. But, of course, all the other columns I need are not available. As I mentioned above, I can't write SQL and I have a fully functional report that has everything except the two columns i want to add from the BLOB field. "
    of course, this will return all the results, every time it gets kicked off, this is why having something to link to is handy.
    You can filter the subreport data, based on main report parameters, if that will help.
