Extracting XML from webservice result with Namespaces using E4X

Hi,
I need to extract some data from proprietary Web Service (to be fed to HierarchicalData for dataProvider of ADG).
So I made service.returnType=’e4x’;
In that case it returns data as XML.
I need to get useful data from it after Snapshot:
<SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<SOAP-ENV:Header xmlns:msdwHdr="http://xml.msdw.com/ns/appmw/soap/1.0/header">
<msdw:RequestID xmlns:msdw="http://xml.msdw.com/ns/appmw/soap/1.0/header">restsoap#1390182244050#197728273958044232</msdw:RequestID>
<msdwHdr:FinalMessage>true</msdwHdr:FinalMessage>
</SOAP-ENV:Header>
<SOAP-ENV:Body>
<ADSSnapshotResponse xmlns="http://xml.ms.com/ns/appmw/dataserver/1.0">
<Snapshot seqNo="0">
<BASE_ELEMENT_NAME BASE_ELEMENT_NAME="4.11.2.0">
Using E4X, like:
var root:XML = event.result as XML; //good!
var xmlRoot1:XMLList = root['SOAP-ENV:Body'].ADSSnapshotResponse.Snapshot.BASE_ELEMENT_NAME;
it does return XMLList (tried different variants), but debugger shows nothing at all inside that XMLList.
var root1:XMLList = root.children();  // that returns valid XMLList with 2 XML elements inside
But all other data I could not get if I use any E4X:
Can I skip Envelope, going to Body as one of its children?  suppose I can...
a) root.SOAP-ENV:Body would give compilation errors because of ‘-‘, ‘:’
b) root.Body gives blank XMLList
c) root.Body[0] returns NULL
Any idea how to extract the load from ADS Response (envelope)?
What can I do regarding XML Namespaces in E4X ?
If I set service.returnType="xml" it returns data as XMLNode's.
But I prefer to use E4X if possible.
Please help!
TIA,
Oleg.
P.S.: using Flex 4.5.1 with Flex3 ADG.

not an implementable option for us and cost prohibitive.

  • Extracting xml from BLOB and display on the Browser on the fly using xslt

    HI All,
    I am storing my xml file in BLOB in oracle database.
    Now in my java-jsp application, I want to display this xml file, by extracting from BLOB in a formatted/html way...( XSLT/CSS Style) on the fly.. means without storing it as a .xml file.
    Pl. guide me...
    Thanks in advance.
    Sandeep Oza

    First, can you get an InputStream that allows you to read the XML from the BLOB?
    If you can, then simply get a Transformer object for your XSLT, then calltransform(new StreamSource(yourInputStream), new StreamResult(resp.getOutputStream()));Since you won't be writing any HTML for this, there's no point in putting it in a JSP, either. A servlet would be more suitable.

  • How to return xmlType from Webservice generated with JDev and PL/SQL

    Hi,
    I have generated an PL/SQL package that's returning a value as xmlType.
    With JDeveloper I'm deploying this package as a webservice. When invoking the webservice from a webbrowser the result looks like:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <SOAP-ENV:Envelope
    xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <SOAP-ENV:Body>
    <ns1:testXmltypeResponse
    xmlns:ns1="http://app/webservice.wsdl"
    SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/">
    <return xsi:type="xsd:string">
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW>
    <TODAY>12-OCT-07</TODAY>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    </return>
    </ns1:testXmltypeResponse>
    </SOAP-ENV:Body>
    </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    The problem is that the <return> tag contains 'xsi:type="xsd:string"'. And now the webservice response is not valid XML because the return value contains XML and not a string.
    The solution would be, when invoking the webservice if the xsi:type would be missing from the result tag or would contains xsd:any. I tried editing the WSDL in JDeveloper and changing the type to xsd:any. After deploying and calling the WSDL from the webbrowser it contains this type. But when invoking the method from the webbrowser it still returns xsd:string as type.
    How can I get rid of this type in the <return> or change it.
    My JDeveloper version is 10.1.3.3.0 The Oracle database and 9iAS are 10.2.
    Thanks in advance,
    Thijs

    What version are you on?
    Works fine for me on my 11g:
    SQL> create or replace procedure testxml (clob_out out clob)

      3     l_clob   clob;
      4     l_ctx    dbms_xmlquery.ctxhandle;
      5  begin
      6     l_ctx := dbms_xmlquery.newcontext ('select * from dual');
      7     l_clob := dbms_xmlquery.getxml (l_ctx);
      8     clob_out := l_clob;
      9     dbms_xmlquery.closecontext (l_ctx);
    10  end testxml;
    11  /
    Procedure created.
    SQL>
    SQL> variable vout clob;
    SQL>
    SQL> exec testxml (:vout)
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL>
    SQL> print vout

    <?xml version = '1.0'?>
    <ROWSET>
       <ROW num="1">
          <DUMMY>X</DUMMY>
       </ROW>
    </ROWSET>But definitely you can optimize your proc a bit: Try
    create or replace procedure testxml (clob_out in out nocopy clob)
    is
       l_ctx    dbms_xmlquery.ctxhandle;
    begin
       l_ctx := dbms_xmlquery.newcontext ('select * from dual');
       clob_out := dbms_xmlquery.getxml (l_ctx);
       dbms_xmlquery.closecontext (l_ctx);

    XML portion always starts with <Infringement and ends with </Infringement>.
    Actually, it doesn't... the XML starts with the <?xml> tag, but that's just me being pedantic
    Given what you've said, though, it's easy to extract the XML data from a given block of text.
    First, read the source data:
    set theText to read file "path:to:the:file"
    Then you can extract the XML via something like:
    set start_tag to "<?xml"
    set end_tag to "</Infringement>"
    set start_of_data to offset of start_tag in theText
    set end_of_data to (offset of end_tag in theText) + (-1 + (length of end_tag))
    set theXML to text start_of_data through end_of_data of theText
    Now you can write that data to a file:
    set theFile to open for access file ((path to desktop as text) & "output.xml" as text) with write permission
    set eof theFile to 0
    write theXML to theFile starting at 0
    close access theFile
    If you have multiple files you can either run this in a loop that iterates over the files, or save the script as a droplet, then drop the files onto the script icon. Let me know if you need help with that, too.

    I don't understand why the DOCTYPE is in the XML, but it appears that Oracle is trying to resolve label.dtd to a registered resource. As you discovered, it may be easier to remove the DOCTYPE from the XML then try to register the label.dtd resource within Oracle. To do this, some options are
    - Use the REPLACE command
    - treat the data as a CLOB and instr/substr to build a new clob without the DOCTYPE tag in it.
    - Use the REGEXP_REPLACE command
    Also, if your DB version supports XMLTable, here is the way to do it with that.
    SELECT *
      FROM XMLTABLE('/labels'
                    PASSING XMLTYPE('<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
    <labels _FORMAT="Harvest Label for Lot Project" _QUANTITY="1" _PRINTERNAME="PFP3400E006" _JOBNAME="JA272017">

              <variable name="ITEM_DESC">6 Pack Blue Assembled 2004 JTEST</variable>
              <variable name=" LOT ">ja28-10</variable>
              <variable name="QUANTITY">1</variable>
         </label>
    </labels>
                    COLUMNS
                    format    VARCHAR2(15) PATH '@_FORMAT',
                    quantity  VARCHAR2(15) PATH '@_QUANTITY',
                    printername  VARCHAR2(15) PATH '@_PRINTERNAME',
                    jobname  VARCHAR2(15) PATH '@_JOBNAME');

  • Extracting XML from Pdf form

    There is an industry standard pdf form with an underlying XML schema which can be opened in Adobe reader.
    The form has a custom button on Page 2  called "export" which can be manually clicked to export the XML file.
    We will have hundreds of these forms. How would I automate the extraction of this XML document?
    I would prefer to just write a simple script and extract out the xml to a file folder
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks Patrick.
    We are thinking about using a third party native Java library to do this (http://www.qoppa.com/pdffields/jpfindex.html). I was hoping we could use acrobat reader, since everyone has it!
    Here are a few more things.
    1. We are an Software Vendor that sells our solutions - our software solutions need to extract the xml from pdf. We have a java based program that parses this xml and does stuff with it.
    2. Obviously, we would need to be able to redistribute whatever solution we use to extract the xml from pdf.
    3. Can Acrobat Professional batch mode be executed from Java?
    4.. If so, Instead of distributing a full blown Acrobat Professional or requiring customers to buy it,  is there a library that Adobe provides that we could repackage and ewdistribute? If so, can you send me some pointers on where I could find what those libraries would be and how much would they cost for each distribution we do.
    5. If no, are you familiar with qoppa or do you have recommendations on any other third party libary for Java?
    Thanks a bunch!

    A scan from string function can be used as per the attachment. The double \ ('\\') is in the format string in order to interpret the '\' characters in your input string as literal characters and not special formatting.

  • Extracting files from Portfolio - problem with outlook email created portfolios

    Currently I have developed a plugin that can extract files from portfolios using:-
    PDNameTree tree = PDDocGetNameTree(pdDoc, ASAtomFromString("EmbeddedFiles"));
    and
    PDFileAttachmentFromCosObj
    But i've noticed with Outlook email created portfolios the above is PDNameTree invalid.  any suggestions?   is it under another atom string or something?
    Thanks,
    Lee.

    ok, found something out here... if I close the doc using AVDocClose then re-open in the code using PDDocOpen then the PDNameTree tree = PDDocGetNameTree(pdDoc, ASAtomFromString("EmbeddedFiles"));  works!!!
    but now I have a problem getting the original pdf open filename.
    usually can get it with below code but it's returning the Folder path + garbage instead. (this only happens with portfolios created by outlook that I have tested)
    There must be a better way of doing this, any ideas? thanks, lee.
    ASFile asFile = PDDocGetFile(pdDoc);
    ASPathName asPathName = ASFileAcquirePathName(asFile);
    char* temp = ASFileSysDIPathFromPath(ASGetDefaultFileSys(), asPathName, NULL);

  • Selecting records from DB table with out using internal tables

    hi,
    i need to retrieve values from a database table based on few fields and date as well. however, i need to check whether the date is less or equal to the current date and along with that i should get the appropriate record. how can i do that with out using internal table.
    field1-----date---
    11111----
    20070219
    11111--20070214 <---
    11111----
    20070205
    in the above scenario i should get the second record
    Regards,
    Kranthi.

    Try:
    REPORT ztest MESSAGE-ID 00.
    TABLES bkpf.
    SELECT * FROM bkpf
      UP TO 1 ROWS
      WHERE budat <= sy-datum
      ORDER BY budat DESCENDING.
    ENDSELECT.

    Thanks,
    Suresh.

    Hi ,
    The infopackage run for avery long time in yellow state with out changing to green, This might happen due to connection error(get in touch with your basis team) or due to over load on the system.
    eventhough the status of request is finished in source system, the job will be executing in the BI.
    1)Wait for sometime for the request to turn out green automatically or
    2)make the request to red and delte, repeat the infopackage step.
    3)IF you know about the no of records that need to be transferred and if the total records are transferred already, manually  change the request to green.
    Cheers,
    Srinath
