F table deletion - partitions

Hi there
Vi have an InfoCube which load data wery often (a few records every 5 minutes). This has resulet in a very large number of partitions on the F table (around 25000) which is killing us when doing database statistics.
I copied all data to another InfoCube which now contain all the data. However when trying to delete the data in the origianl cube it does a truncate action in the oracle database, which does not remove the partitions. Is there a way to do this?
Is it possible to delete the table using SE11 and transport it again from development?
Chris

Not sure how much overhead the SAP Drop Empty Partition pgm adds to the database process of dropping the partitions.  The only thing I can think of would be to get the list of empty partitions (imagine they must get it from DBA_TAB_PARTITIONS) and put together your own SQL to drop the partitions or perhaps multiple stmts that could be run in parallel.
Never thrilled about running something outside of the SAP environment, because you can never be 100% sure they don't update something somewhere.  Haven't really lloked at teh SAP Drop pgm to see what else it might be doing besides a partition drop.
Don't know if the partition drop time could be improved if the partitions were not buffered. The DB must take some time to make sure that there are no rows in the buffer that it must worry about.  Also, have DB statistics been updated since the deletion?  If they haven't been, the DB may not realize the partitions are not empty, which then forces it to check the buffer before dropping.  A good DBA might be able to tell you if the partition drop process is affected by either stats that don't reflect that the partition is empty or buffering. I just don't know for sure.

It wasnt like this before. Before 3 and 4 had some of the same values from above instead of all 0s. After trying to take advice from threads with similar problems and entering stuff into the command line it became like this. I think I might have messed thing up while looking for a quick fix.
Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

I'm not sure how to edit my replies so I'm just gonna make another reply. I assumed the following values:
    GPT 3 Start
    GPT 3 End
    GPT 3 Size
    NTFS Start
    NTFS Offset
    NTFS End
    NTFS Size
    293378384
    293380320

    294649856
    1936
    490233855
    195584000
I followed the rest of the instructions given here. I made sure to enter the second number with a + sign. After doing all of that all these checks worked:
Test 1 - Does Bootcamp Volume show up in Finder?
Test 2 - Can you see files in Bootcamp Volume?
Test 3 - Can you select Bootcamp in System Preferences -> Startup Disk?
I've always been able to access my bootcamp files from finder and I can try to boot from System Preferences -> startup disk, from rEFIt and also from my macbooks startup manager that I access by holding down option while booting.
I'm starting to think I've misrepresented my problem and that I've been looking at the wrong threads. Every time I try to boot windows I get a black screen with the Windows logo and some text saying something like "starting automatic recovery" or something like that. It then takes me to a blue screen displaying an error number and telling me to use recovery tools on the installation media. Maybe this is different from the problems I've been looking at in other threads.
I've tried using the same USB I used to install bootcamp with but it doesn't give me the option of repairing the installation.
EDIT: So I figured out how to edit replies. Anyway I just tried to boot into Windows and checked. The black screen with the Windows logo says "Preparing Automatic Repair". The blue screen gives me the error 0xc00000e.

  • Recovery on a Satellite A100 (PSAA9) - Deleted partitions and XP Home not Pro

We recently had trouble with our laptop and decided to restore it back to manufacturer settings with the recovery Media CD. My son decided to do it and when he booted up the program he chose the Delete partitions option instead of overwrite.
Now it has completely formatted the HD removing the OS (Windows XP Pro).
When I bought the laptop it came with WXP Pro already installed and just has the Certification Sticker on the bottom of the laptop.
Is there anyway that I can receive a Windows XP Pro installation CD?

Generally all Satellite notebook models are delivered with WXP Home or Media Center Edition operating system. Toshiba has Satellite Pro series and under this name you can get WXP Pro operating system.
Can you tell us which model you have exactly A100-xxx?
If your notebook was in showroom by the dealer it is possible they have used own OS installation instead of delivered recovery media.

I previously split my disk into two different disks, however I want to combine them together again, yet i was unable to delete the second partition. I can't delete partition in disk utility, it keeps telling me that "the changes are too small"
    Plz help!!!!!!

Make at least two complete backups of all your data. Boot from another drive and partition this one as desired. Restore the data.

  • What is the best way to restore very recently deleted partition ?, What is the best way to restore very recently deleted partition ?

Can anyone please advise the best course of action here:
I time machined what I thought to be my Mac Pro 1,1 but actually backed up my Macbook Pro 3,1
I was having problems with main hdd and repair was not working so i deleted partition... and when i ran time machine realised i had not backed up from march.
Is there anyway to revert to that partitioning or restore it? Any programs?
Or do I just have to recover the lost files ?

If the lost data is of high value to you, consider sending the drive to a professional recovery service such as DriveSavers. Otherwise, there's little hope, but some have had at least partial success with a product called "Data Rescue."

  • How to recover files from a deleted partition?

Unfortunately, my OSX was not booting and I deleted my partition. Through the Internet Recovery mode I reinstalled the original OSX Mountain Lion it came with. I then upgraded to Maverick. I know that deleting a partition practically means all files are lost. I heard that files can be recovered on a Windows when a partition is deleted. Is there any way I can recover files from a partition that was deleted just a day ago?

    Hi,
Yes, it is possible to recover deleted partition or volume on Mac. Previously I was able to recover all my data lost due to accidental deletion of partition on my Mac PC by using recover Mac data software. This tool is really helpful, here you can download this tool.

  • In which tables deleted schedule lines are stored

    Hi All,
I want to know in which tables deleted schedule lines in VA02 VA32 are stored.
How to get the deleted Schedule line item quantity. Please give me reply as early as possible.
    Thanks,
    Saritha

    Hi Saritha,
As my understanding there is no table to store the deleted schedule line data.
You have to identify badi or user-exit before deleting the schedule lines data in the VA02 program and in that exit you have to write the code to populate the deleted schedule line data in to your own custom tables(you have to create custom tables).I have used the same method for deleted deliveries.
In sap CDHDR /CDPOS contains only changed data but not deleted data.
    Thanks,

    Hi
You can get current database status using the following BAPIs-
    BAPI_USER_EXISTENCE_CHECK
    BAPI_USER_GETLIST
    BAPI_USER_GET_DETAIL
Also check the report RPUAUD00 in which you can find out new infotype creation/modification etc.

    Hi Lolo,
There is no table available in SAP to view the deleted user information. But you can connect to SQL & see the deleted user information.
I think the command " SQL>show recyclebin;" will show you the deleted user information.

  • Source Table not Partitioned, But destination is, Will Streams Work?

I want to use Oracle streams to setup replication in a single source environment.
Here is what I need to do:
I have a sorce data base where tables are not partitioned and oits an OLTP system.
I have another DB which has same schema as OLTP, but some of the tables are partitioned. Also it has some additional tables.
Now my question is can I setup Streams to move incremental changes from Source DB to Destination DB.
For Partitioned tables do I need to do something special so that it works?
Another question is I want to propagate changes only once a day, is it possible using streams?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Yes.. Streams work and the data gets propagated when there is no partition on one side and partion on the other side. It will even work when the paritition ranges are not same.
Propagating changes only once a day -- sure, possible theoritically but not sure how we can achive this.. I think starting and stopping the capture/apply process whenever needed will give you the required result. There is no control on propagation .. only control on Capture and Apply processed.

    Badri.
