F4v streamed from FMS into Captivate throws error

I use the video type: Streaming Video in Captivate
Server URI is set to: rtmp://xxxx.xxx.xx.com/vod/
Stream Name is set to: mp4:signatur.f4v
On the FMS the file signatur.f4v lies in applications\vod\media
I have the stream in my first slide in Captivate and when I play it I get:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2124: Loaded file is an unknown type.
When I click "Dismiss All" at the error box the video start to play ok. Any succeding videos in the project also plays without errors.
Any help would be much appreicated.
Thanks,
JensCBC

It turned out that it was one of the widgets that ships with Captivate 5 that caused the error.
The widget VividTextCaption.swf will throw an error on Adobe Connect 7.5
Maybe someone at Adobe would fix it for next update?
Cheers

  • Problem playing remote live stream from FMS

    Hello all,
    I'm having problems playing remote live streams from FMS (server-side) that I can play with any other player (client-side)
    Example of server-side application which plays a remote live stream:
    nc = new NetConnection();
    nc.connect("rtmp://remoteserver/live");
    stream = Stream.get("localStream");
    stream.play("remoteStream.flv", -1, -1, true, nc);
    This code works only sometimes.
    Most of the times, FMS is able to connect to remote string and the localStream dispatches events:
       NetStream.Publish.Strart
       NetStream.Play.Reset
    In this case, FMS is publishing the local stream but it is not playing the remoteStrem on it.
    The rest of the times, localStream dispatches events:
       NetStream.Publish.Strart
       NetStream.Play.Reset
       NetStream.Play.Start
       NetStream.Data.Start
    In this case FMS plays the remoteStream correctly.
    Any hint to solve this issue?
    Regards.

    Thanks, I tried your code and it works when playing a remote live stream on another FMS.
    But the remote live stream is not on a FMS but on a Wowza Server which re-streams an RTSP stream over RTMP.
    With this code:
    var nc;
    var myStream;
    application.onAppStart = function(){
         nc = new NetConnection();
         myStream = Stream.get("localstream");
         myStream.onStatus= function(info){
               trace(info.code);
         nc.onStatus = function(info){
               trace (info.code);
               if(info.code == "NetConnection.Connect.Success" ){
                    myStream.play("remoteLive.sdp", -1, -1, true, nc);
         nc.connect("rtmp://remoteServer/live");
    Every live stream player I tried was able to play the remote stream "remoteLive.sdp", but FMS play it only sometimes. This is the output log of the FMS application:
    NetConnection.Connect.Success
    NetStream.Publish.Start
    NetStream.Play.Reset        <--------------------------------- Stuck there, stream won't play
    Unloaded application instance wowza4/_definst_ <--- Reload app
    NetConnection.Connect.Success
    NetStream.Publish.Start
    NetStream.Play.Reset        <--------------------------------- Stuck there, stream won't play
    Unloaded application instance wowza4/_definst_ <--- Reload app
    NetConnection.Connect.Success
    NetStream.Publish.Start
    NetStream.Play.Reset
    NetStream.Play.Start         <--------------------------------- Stream is playing just fine
    NetStream.Data.Start
    Unloaded application instance wowza4/_definst_ <--- Reload app
    NetConnection.Connect.Success
    NetStream.Publish.Start
    NetStream.Play.Reset       <--------------------------------- Stuck there, stream won't play
    Any idea? Why FMS won't play it everytime?
    Regards

  • Inserting a variable value from querystring into captivate and out again

    I am using Captivate 4 on a server that uses ASP and I use FrontPage to write my ASP pages.
    I have a database built and hosted at the same location as my captivate file.  I used to launch my captivate and then have the user continue to a form page, enter their information and submit to the database.  This all worked great.
    Now I need to capture completion of several captivate files (modules).  So I want an ASP page that allows the user to see what modules are done (I use a request form to search my database).  It works great.  It comes back and tells the user what needs to be taken.  They, on that same page, can then select the module to complete next (I have the request querystring added to the URL that launchs the captivate file (I changed it from a html page to an asp page).
    It launches fine but I can't figure out how to get that request querystring into captivate as my variable value.  question 1
    Then after that is figured out I need to know how to pass that variable back to an ASP page that will contain form questions that will then travel to the database.  (Thus giving them credit for that module).  question 2
    Any help would be great.  I am not very good at code, but trying.  My database is Access.

    So you want to pass some data into Captivate? This can be achieved with a Flash Widget and FlashVars. Basically you would be able to launch a Captivate project on www.google.com/myProject?myVariable=1 and then get the value of myVariable into a Flash widget. The Flash Widget could then pass this variable into Captivate be populating a custom variable that you have definied within Captivate. From that point on you would be able to use the variable in your Captivate project. Google for Flash Vars to see what can be done with it.
    As for the other way around - Captivate sending information to your ASP script - that would also require a widget (or perhaps calling a JavaScript function). From the Flash widget you would be able to pass along data from Captivate to an external script and then use it any way you want.
    Hope this points you in the right direction.
    /Michael

  • SWF Verification and HTTP Streaming from FMS 4.0.1

    Is it possible to do SWF Verification with HTTP Streaming? (If calling the box directly)
    My gut says No, and I haven't seen any examples or mentions of this in the forums, and I was hoping I could get a clear cut answer from someone that has either tried it or from Adobe.
    Thanks.
    -Will

    Hi,
    As of now, you cannot use SWFVerification to protect HTTP Streaming, as HTTP Streaming does not require connection with core process of FMS, but request is handled by f4f module in apache. The current way to ensure protection of HTTP streams is to use Flash Access for encryption of fragments. You can find more about Flash Access here at http://www.adobe.com/products/flashaccess/
    Thanks,
    Abhishek

  • Streaming from FMS to a CDN

    How can I push streams being put onto my FMS to a CDN? Do I
    have to edit an asc file? Where does that file need to go? Thanks
    for any help.

    Short answer: You cannot push to a CDN, only pull. And that's
    tricky if you can't upload your own custom .asc code - most CDNs
    won't allow it.
    Good news: FMS3 adds a new Netstream object on the serverside
    (previously we only had the Stream object without publish method)
    and that allows you to push a stream to a CDN or any other FMS box
    for that matter.
    Ask your CDN of choice how quickly they will roll out FMS3
    and once they do you're all set.

  • Paste Link 'Outline Level' from Excel into Project get error

    I am trying to generate a MS Project schedule based on linked data in an Excel spreadsheet. I cannot get the summary project tasks to appear with their sub-tasks. When I try to paste link the Outline Level into Project, I get and error that states
    "The paste link operation failed. You cannot paste into a field that project calculates automatically." However, I can manually type the Outline Level into the project and it changes the task-subtask relationships as it should. How can I get this
    to work?

    This error just means that you can’t paste a link just anywhere you like, just as you can’t type data into just any cell. change the excel data source schedule without calculate. see the link:

  • Importing master role from ECC into portal throws derived role exception

    Hello,
    While uploading master and derived role from backend system into the portal I am getting the following exception.
    com.sap.portal.pcd.rolemigration.RoleMigrationException: Nested Exception. Failure to execute native function. Nested Exception. ROLE_IS_DERIVED
    Does it imply that the derived role is already imported with the import of master role and there is no need to explicitly import the derived role?
    The landscape uses role upload tool of portal for UME.
    Regards
    Pooja

    Hi Pooja,
    There is a limitation with the role upload tool that the derived roles cannot be uploaded.
    The migration is only able to upload roles which have their own menus. Derived R/3 roles does not have menus themselves as they derive them from other roles. The purpose of the migration is to bring the R/3 navigation structures into the portal. Therefore you can only migrate the role from which your role is derived.

  • Publish multi-bitrate stream from FMS?

    Hi,
    I have an SSAS app to publish live streaming, you can refer here. Can I do publish multi-bitrate streaming with SSAS code over RTMP ? I read a tutorial, but it over HTTP...
    Mai Huy

    Hi everyone!
    I have question, how can I play Multi Bit-rate, Live, HDS Streaming? I've done huge resarch and couldn't find how to do it.
    I'm decoding stream properly from camera through Adobe Live Media Encoder to AMS.
    everything works fine when I decode single bit rate and play like this:
               var resource : URLResource = new
    URLResource("http://localhost/hds-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/livestream.f4m");
            var manifest : F4MElement = new F4MElement(resource);
            var mediaPlayerSprite : MediaPlayerSprite = new MediaPlayerSprite();
            mediaPlayerSprite.media = manifest;
            addChild(mediaPlayerSprite);
    with multibitrate - manifest file looks like this:
    <manifest xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/f4m/1.0">
      <media streamId="livestream1" bitrate="100" />
      <media streamId="livestream2" bitrate="500" />
      <media streamId="livestream3" bitrate="1000" />
    </manifest>

  • Live Stream from FMS

    I have install the Flash Media Server and Flash Media Live Encoder. Everything run perfectly when I test the Live Stream through localhost, but if I try to embed to another machine, it is failed. Anybody have an idea how to fix it?

    Have you made sure your firewall allows incoming traffic on 1935 - i think it would be firewall issue.

  • Playback of low bitrate flv or f4v from live stream in FMS causes player buffer to empty

    We are experiencing a consistent issue when playing a low bitrate (300kbps or less) flv in a live stream from FMS.  Basically, the player will will start off with the appropriate buffer, say 5 seconds, then begin dropping until it empties out, and will have to rebuffer.  We've tried with a variety of flv and f4v files, all that are 300kbps or less, and we consistently get the issue.  Is this something Adobe can investigate in FMS?  Or are there any suggestions on how we can get around the issue?

    hey, i got the similar problem, logging like this

  • Cp5 - Pasting text from Notepad into a text box

    I posted this message in the "Getting Started Forum" but there isn't a whole lot of activity in that forum.
    Hopefully someone can help me because I have a lot of text to paste into a lesson.
    This  seems like such an elementary requirement and I am almost certain that I  have done this before but...for some reason, copying text from Windows  Notepad into a Captivate 5 text box just isn't working today.
    Basically, the paste option is simply not available!
    Yes, I can copy paste into other applications; Captivate is the only application that is blocking this Windows function.
    If  I insert a Text Entry Box, I am able to paste single lines of text  (from Notepad) but obviously this isn't going to work as a text box.
    Is this by design or has something gone haywire?
    Question, how do I get pre-written text (i.e. from Notepad) into Captivate?
    Thanks

    Shawn,
    I have had that happen to me too.  I am always copying and pasting into my Captivate projects.  But sometimes the paste option is just not available.  What I have done, is to save everything and close the application and start it again.  Seems there's a lot of little irritating things like that with Captivate, that's corrected with a restart.  Hope this helps!

    I posted this message in the "Getting Started Forum" but there isn't a whole lot of activity in that forum.
    Hopefully someone can help me because I have a lot of text to paste into a lesson.

  • Error while executing SSIS package - Error: 4014, Severity:20, State: 11. A fatal error occurred while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 109, output error: 0)

    Hi,
    We are getting the following error when running our SSIS packages on Microsoft SQL Server 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1:
    Error: 4014, Severity:20, State: 11.   A fatal error occurred while reading the input stream from the network. The session will be terminated (input error: 109, output error: 0)
    SQL Server Data Tools and SQL Server Database Engine reside on the same server.
    We tried the following:
    Disabling TCP Chimney Offload
    Installed Windows Server 2008 SP1
    Splitting our SSIS code into multiple steps so it is not all one large continuous operation
    The error occurs during a BulkDataLoad task.
    Other options we are investigating with the engineering team (out-sourced, so delayed responses):
    Firewall configurations (everything is local, so this should not make a difference)
    Disabling the anti-virus scanner
    Are there other things we can try?
    Any insight is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi HenryKwan,
    Based on the current information, the issue can be caused by many reasons. Please refer to the following tips:
    Install the latest hotfix based on your SQL Server version. Ps: there is no SQL Server 2012 R2 version.
    Change the MaxConcurrentExecutables property from -1 to another one based on the MAXDOP. For example, 8.
    Set "RetainSameConnection" Property to FALSE on the all the connection managers.
    Reference:
    https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/774370/ssis-packages-abort-with-unexpected-termination-message
    If the issue is still existed, as Jakub suggested, please provide us more information about this issue.
    Thanks,
