Facebook and Firefox Download Manager

Everytime i am downloading something with the download manager and i go to facebook... firefox stops responding. This was happening on my old computer too... (win xp, firefox 4 and 5) and it is happening now too... (win7, firefox 5 6 7 8 9 and 10!)

I donť think the problem lies in firewall or anti-virus... (two of the computers don't have any firewall or anti-virus) and i can download with other programs like utorrent or flashget just fine(while on facebook), but when i download with firefox and if i go to facebook while downloading with firefox, it just stops responding(firefox)... but it will respond again after some time...but only for a second or less... and after that "not even a second" it stops responding again... but i can download anything with firefox if i won't go on facebook... by the way... english is my second language, so if my writing is not understandable... i am sorry for that...

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

Tried to download Font General for Facebook and Firefox prevented the site from asking me to download. Is it a "bad" program?

I was searching for emoticons on Facebook....and a link came up for Font General ...to use different type fonts on Facebook. I clicked on the download for FireFox and a small box popped up saying "FireFox has prevented this site (www.fontgeneral.com) from asking you to install software on your computer. There was a button that I could click to ALLOW....but I wanted to know if there was a possibility of the program being known to be unsafe.

Firefox only comes with two sites pre-approved to install add-ons, because add-ons have full privileges and you want to be pretty careful about which ones you install.
The warning you got was a general notice. As far as I know, Mozilla doesn't test or even try to keep track of add-ons that don't come from the official add-ons site.
Facebook and web search would be good resources for further research.

I have Firefox 5.0 installed on my desktop and everytime i try to download or save a file the Firefox Download Manager won't open. Why? What am i doing wrong?

Firefox download manager will not work

Firefox would not load so I uninstalled it and tried to download a new version. I can download the install manager but it will not complete.

Firefox download manager problems

The default download manager in Firefox started showing a strange behavior today: any file I try to download (either in the default \download folder or in a folder chosen by me) is actually downloaded by the browser but the download status bar of the file always shows an "unknown remaining time" message while being fully green (https://www.dropbox.com/s/n891ya38ifm83c3/Cattura%20di%20schermata%20%284%29.png?dl=0).
The real problem is when I download files like .torrent that as soon as are downloaded need the torrent client to start (torrent client that doesn't start because for firefox the .torrent download is never completed).
I tried disabling the antivirus (bitdefender) but the problem persisted. In Chrome downloads work fine (also with antivirus enabled).

This is as of the 32.0b'''9''' and it has been fixed and will be in the next 32.0 build, likely the 32.0 RC1 build though normally such a fix would be a Beta build like 32.0b10. The Release is next Tuesday so little time. In '''about:config''' you can try modify the value for browser.safebrowsing.appRepURL to be blank in meantime.

Problem with openJDK and Sun Download Manager

Hi.
I try run SDM in Fedora 9 and Ubuntu 8.10 with openJDK-6-JRE but i can´t, when run sdm.sh it´s show "Using Java Look & feel" in console but no window is show.
Can anybody help me?

Yes and works well. But I'd like to know why it does not work with openJDK. In addition Fedora only has packages for opeJDK so I was more comfortable using openJDK.

After I hit run, and firefox downloads, the pop up window doesn't display..what do I do?

I go to their webpage, I hid firefox download, I hit run, then nothing happens after it downloads. No pop up screen or anything. I've searched my laptop files and folders, but no firefox is displayed.

Same problem for me.
1. Cannot connect to wifi as icloud password pop up keeps appearing.
2. tried deleting account. UNable to do so.
3. tried resetting password by logging into apple id through desktop as mentioned in one of the responses in another thread. Unfortunately the apple id to be reset is the same as being prompted by icloud and hence unable to reset the same.
Feel like breaking the **** ipad into bits. Stupid of apple to let such a bug in and not offer support !!

Snow Leopard and Firefox -- Color Management

I am using using Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and Firefox 3.5.2 and I noticed that the color
management doesn't really work anynore...when I compared my photo on smugmug
PS and Safari are displaying the right color but FF doesn't really really show the right one...anyone experiencing the same issue ? I have tried playing around with the gfxcolormanagement with 1 and 0 ( by def 2) but doesn't help at all...
Any solutions ?

When I go to download something, the site tells me to install it from the Firefox Download Manager. Where is it? It seems like everytime I download something, it disappears without a trace forever.

I have a Windows based computer. I've tried to download a couple of things, and the Firefox download screen pops up and says it was downloaded, but I can never find where it went to. How do I get to where these things downloaded to so I can install them?

Start Firefox, click on the Tools menu item, and then click on Downloads.
This should up a Downloads window which shows you all the downloads you've done - you can, however clear the list or remove individual entries.
If you click on an entry in the Downloads list with your right mouse button, a menu will be displayed. Click on "Open containing folder."
This will open Windows Explorer and show the folder where the file was stored when you downloaded.
If you simply want to execute the download, right click and select Open or just double click on the entry.
In the future, when you download something and Firefox displays the folder window, look at where it is pointing. That is where the file will go.

How does Firefox download manager work?

I was wondering how Firefox Downloads work? Does it use a differnet port? I have wifi at college which is controlled by proxy with username and password. The internet connection is set to cut off at 10:00 PM. But strangely, if we have a download going on Firefox, not any external download managers, the download will carry on even after 10:00pm, which I cannot browse anymore. My friend could download very large file throughout the night, even though we couldn't browse internet.
Can someone explain why this happens?

I downloaded Firefox 4, have a Mac Powerbook G4 with OS X and firefox downloads, but opens with an X on the symbol and won't work, says architecture won't support - what is up?

Have tried 4 times to download Firefox 4 and each time it seems to be working OK, but when I go to move the firefox symbol onto the Application symbol, the firefox symbol has an X in an O indicating that it won't work and doesn't. Windows 7 and firefox download fails

download drivers using firefox get C;\users\appdata\local\temp\lj1018-hb-pnp-win64-en-15.exe could not be opened because an unknown error occurred. Try saving to disk first then open file. There is no option in the dialog to allow me to save to disk. This works fine when using IE.

You have Firefox configured to save files to a permanent folder probably. You can change it in Tools | Options | General. Checkmark "Always ask me where to save files".
