Facelet to crare web app, instead of using JSP; JSF1.2 spec in WebSphere6.1

Novice to JSF and Facelet. But, I had been using Struts since its inception.
I am required to use IBM's WebSphere Application Server 6.1 that comes with Servlet 2.4 and JSP 2.0. WebSphere 6.1 App Server limits me to using JSF 1.1. This is because, JSF 1.2 requires Servlet 2.5 and JSP 2.1, that is a part of WebSphere App Server 7.0; not a part of WebSphere 6.1.
Somebody suggested that it will be possible to use JSF 1.2 in WebSphere 6.1, if I were using Facelet, instead of JSP.
I am not eager to use JSF 1.1 and may have to forego JSF; unless and until I can use JSF 1.2.
The hold-up is that I cannot use JSF 1.2 spec in WebSphere 6.1. Is there is any way to use JSF 1.2 in WebSphere 6.1? Can I create an entire application using Facelet (instead of JSP) that will let me use JSF 1.2 spec in WebSphere 6.1? If so, how?
Here are my questions, especially because I am not very familiar with JSF and Facelet technology:
1. Can I use JSF 1.2 specification in WebSphere 6.1, if I were using facelet (as opposed to JSP) as my view technology?
2. Will it be possible to create an entire web app with facelt, instead o fusing any JSP at all? If so, how? Does it mean that all the GUI screens will only use facelet and no JSP at all?
3. Please explain how I can write a complex web app with 100s of screens using only facelet, instead of using JSP.
4. Please provide pointer on how JSF and facelet differ, or what are their demarcations boundaries.
Any comment and pointer will be greatly appreciated.

Do you have an html5 web app that only uses html5 and CSS? (and NOT javascript). I'd just like to see what other people are making because I don't understand how you could make an interactive webapp without using javascript (and I don't want to learn javascript). I'd like to see what a web app looks like.

HTML on it's own can't do anything smart. You need JavaScript to know when someone has interacted with the page. For example, clicked on an image, or entered text into a form field. You're going to need to know JavaScript in order to create any kind of apps with HTML 5 and CSS. If you want any interactive things such as geolocation etc it requires JavaScript. It's not hard to learn. I would suggest learning a library like JQuery. It uses CSS ids to allow you to select elements and regions on a page so as you can manipulate them. It's based on JavaScript, but a bit easier to learn. It's easy to add things like loops and chain functions it looks very CSS like so if you come from a design background it might be better for you to learn. You simply download JQuery from the http://jquery.com and store it in a folder with the site and then do a link to it. It's straight forward.

StageWebView in Flex Browser/web app instead of Air/mobile?

Just heard about stageWebView. Before I dig deeper, does stageWebView work in a Web/Browser Flex app in addition to an Air desktop/mobile apps?
I still have a need to display PDFs embedded inside my Flex web apps. None of the iFrame-based solutions out there support it. They all download the PDF doc instead of embedding it within Flex. I need to behave like the HTML component does in Air desktop apps, since it embeds PDF very nicely.
So, I just heard about Air 2.5 stageWebView and I'm wondering if it might solve this issue for me. My guess is that is only works with Air/mobile, not Flex web apps, but I thought I'd ask.

No, StageWebView is an AIR-only feature, it's not available in Flash Player.

Weblogic 10 Probs Start Web App only if using 'Visual Web JavaServer Faces'

There is no Errormessage in Netbeans IDE when I chose 'build' or 'undeploy and deploy'.
If I use a simple Webapplication that does not use 'Visual Web JavaServer Faces'
the war-file that netbeans ide creates and deploys in beas autodeploy directory can be executed in the linked page: http://localhost:7001/WebApplication9/
But if I chose the option 'Visual Web JavaServer Faces' in the web application project the whole compile and deployment process completes fine, the war-file is distributed in the autodeploy dir, but it can be deployed automatically nor manually.
In the Bea Weblogic Administration Console I get
Messages

How can my child use an iTunes gift card to purchase apps instead of using my credit card?

My daughter (under 13 years of age) just redeemed her iTunes gift card she got for christmas, but there is seems to be no way she can pay with this in App Store. Can this be true? App Store says that her credit is 15 $ but my credit card is used for payments all the time...
And yes, we use Family Sharing - and yes my credit card works. But it is just no good that my credit card is being used when she has credit of her own (it was actually the point of giving her the gift card...).

Yes, it's possible. But it's difficult to know what exact difficulty you're having, and I perhaps risk stating the obvious... One thing to be aware of is that clicking once inside a text box will simply select that box (you'll see eight +"grab handles"+ for re-sizing). But to edit the text inside, you need to click once more. Experiment with clicking inside and outside text boxes and you'll learn.
And iWeb's Help menu has several resources ~ the Help viewer, a +Getting Started+ PDF and a link to ten video tutorials. One of the videos briefly demonstrates adding a text box towards the end; click here...

Web App Security Firewall Using Catalyst 6500 w/ CSM

We are evaluating web application security firewalls. The other products can recognize application level attacks such as SQL insertion and deranged parameters. Some of my colleagues believe that the CSM (which we already have deployed) has these sorts of capabilities.
While the CSM has some layer 7 capabilities, my read of the specs does not suggest that it is suited to this function.
Anyone have experience or input?

Join meeting using Lync Web App resolves to internal

Vanilla Lync deployment: 1 FE (Standard Edition), 1 Edge, 1 Reverse Proxy (IIS 8, ARR 3.0), 1 Office Web Apps Server
When I send out a meeting invitation to an external user and they click on Join Meeting, the resulting link "Join Using Lync Web App Instead" points to my FE server.
I've got the External web services FQDN defined in Topology Builder:
'lyncweb.domain.com', but when I go to install Lync Web App, it says it can't find 'lyncfe.domain.local'
Looking at the URL for the 'Join Using Lync Web App instead' I see:
"https://lyncfe.domain.local/lwa/WebPages/LwaClient.aspx?legacy=..."
My reverse proxy has server farms set up that all point to my FE server, as prescribed.
Another issue I think is related: I have 2 simple URLs listed for meetings: meet.domain.com AND meet.domain.local; both show as active. Do I need the internal URL? If not, I can't remove it. I tried but after I highlight it and click on remove, it just puts
a red box around the field and greys out the OK button.
So I thought, maybe that's because I have 'domain.local' defined as a SIP domain. So I checked there and, yes, I do. And it's the
Default SIP domain. I have 'domain.com' listed as an additional SIP domain.
I thought about changing the default to 'domain.com' but found an article (http://lyncuc.blogspot.com/2014/04/change-default-sip-domain-in-lync.html) which says DON'T DO
IT.

Confirm that the External Web Services FQDN for the Lync Front End pool is not defined anywhere else in the topology, must be unique. Seen people use the same FQDN as their Edge server.
Confirm External Web Service FQDN is on the SAN list for the Reverse Proxy Certificate and the Lync Front End Certificate.

The way to do that would be to use jQuery post function http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.post/ and submit the web app search form using that function, then capture the results and display them on the page.

Office Web Apps HTTPS setup

We are trying to setup SharePoint 2013 and WAC 2013 servers in a test lab that uses HTTPS to communicate, however we're experiencing issues trying to connect to it from SharePoint 2013. We setup the internal and external HTTPS urls on WAC and provide the
wildcard self-signed certificate, setting AllowHTTP to false, then rebooted. The bindings on the IIS Site then update to include 443.
However, when we try to create the wopizone on the SP box, using new-SPWOPIBinding -Servername xxx it can't seem to see the server properly. We get:

We've rebooted both boxes and can browse to https://xxx/hosting/discovery fine from the SP box. We've also checked the Certs and tried doing self signed certs for the FQDN instead of wildcards, with no effect.
We can't use HTTP in the test lab for WAC because SharePoint 2013 is using HTTPS. Is this a common issue and has anybody seen a fix for it?

Search results link to a unstyled Web App instead to the actual page it resides in.
Please do this:
1. go to: http://kinship.businesscatalyst.com/
2. search for "Michael" on the top global search
3. on the search results page click on the name (link).
4. you will see Michael's web app item not the actuall page it resides in (http://kinship.businesscatalyst.com/About/the-team)

Hi I have installed a Lync 2013 Server and Office Web Apps Server. Configured Lync topology, Office Web Apps farm and certificates.
However when i start the services i get this error message in the log saying Office Web Apps discovery failed.

Cause: Office Web Apps Server may be unavailable or network connectivity may have been compromised.
Resolution:
Check HTTPS connectivity from this box to the Office Web Apps Server deployment using the discovery Url.
I can access the OWAS server Url from Lync Server
Connecting to the HTTPS discovery URL is working fine, and brings up the XML-page (after i click "show all content").
The two servers are located on the same internal network, DNS resolves fine both ways, and no firewall rules blocks any connections between the two. Can anyone please help me figure this out?

He resolved the problem by assigning a new OAuthTokenIssuer certificate. This however did not fix the problem in my case.

In addition, please make sure you have restarted front end and office web apps server after reissuing the certificate.

Office Web Apps Server 2013 - Word Web App - Problem with Tab space

Hello We have Office Web Apps Server 2013 running with SharePoint 2013. Users Editing a Word document with Office Web Apps, can't use "Tabs", any Word document with Tabs; the tabs are replaced with a single space.
Has anyone noticed this? Is this a bug?

Yes, currently the Word Web App does not support
Tab Keyboard shortcut for editing document content .

Office Web Apps for Hosted Environments

Hi there,
I have a some servers that host two different SharePoint Farms and currently one is connected to an OWA server -

I want my second farm to use OWA too and was wondering if it is possible to use the same OWA server for this? So, can I create two Office Web App Farms on the same server?

Office Web Apps and Forms Based Authentication

Is it possible to use Office Web Apps Server 2013 to give external SharePoint Foundation 2013 clients access to Office documents in a View only capacity?
Does FBA work with Office Web Apps or would external users have to at least have a Windows CAL in AD if we are just using SharePoint Foundation?

Office Web Apps can be used only by SharePoint 2013 web applications that use claims-based authentication.
There is a known issue when using Office Web App in the extended zone with FBA, but not the default zone. Please configure FBA authentication in the Default zone in case of that.
