FacesContext killing my session bean values

Hi
i am using jdev 11.1.1.2
After performing some operation in my UI i am using FacesContext to display some messages in my UI. But I have some session bean values which are displayed in the UI, when the FacesContext message is displayed all the session bean values vanishes from the UI and making it blank.
Some of my session values are displayed as readonly and some are in input text..... The input text session values retains but the readonly one got vanishes from the UI.
Please help!!
Thanks
Sudeep

like in my jsff page ..........
<af:inputText
label="First Name"
id="it10"
value="#{modifyuser.fname}"
valueChangeListener="#{modifyuserfields.modifyUserFName}"
showRequired="true" required="true">
/>
<af:validateRegExp pattern="^\s*[a-zA-Z.\\s'_-]+\s*$"
messageDetailNoMatch="Please enter valid First Name! Use a-z,A-Z,'.',',_and - to enter."/>
</af:inputText>
<af:inputText
label="Person Status"
id="it12"
value="#{modifyuser.personstatus}"
readOnly="true">
/>
</af:inputText>
where modifyuseris a bean class of session type where fname and personstatus are two string object with setter and getter in it.
now when i load this page ...... as i set the values in the bean class so the value holiding in it is getting displayed in my page .......... fname as input text editable and person status as readonly...
i have a submit button so when i do any changes in the input text and submit ...... it perform an operation and on success of that i user FacesContext to display a success/error message... so when it is displayed on background the values from Person Status get vanishes from the UI .......... i do a submit again and i can see that in the bean it is holding the value but not getting displayed in UI after that message ........
this is my facescontext code
public String userModificationSuccess() {
String msg="User has been successfully modified.";
FacesContext ctx = getFacesContext();
FacesMessage fm = new FacesMessage(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_INFO, msg, "");
ctx.addMessage(null,fm);

  • Retrieving Session bean object in a Servlet from FacesContext Object

    Hi,
    I added code in a servlet to retrieve Session bean object from the Faces Context object. I don't know what the problem was, but when I am accessing the application from two different machines and I am trying to retrieve the value from the session object in the servelet it is giving the value what I set into the session bean on one machine browser into another machine browser. Just I want to know the code which I had included in the servlet is correct or not.
    This is the code I am using in my servelt:
    1) To get the Faces context object
    protected FacesContext getFacesContext(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) {
         FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
         if (facesContext == null) {
              //System.out.println("Current context was null...creating one now");
              FacesContextFactory contextFactory =
                   (FacesContextFactory)FactoryFinder.getFactory(FactoryFinder.FACES_CONTEXT_FACTORY);
              LifecycleFactory lifecycleFactory =
                   (LifecycleFactory)FactoryFinder.getFactory(FactoryFinder.LIFECYCLE_FACTORY);
              Lifecycle lifecycle = lifecycleFactory.getLifecycle(LifecycleFactory.DEFAULT_LIFECYCLE);
              facesContext =
                   contextFactory.getFacesContext(request.getSession().getServletContext(), request, response, lifecycle);
              //Set using our inner class
              InnerFacesContext.setFacesContextAsCurrentInstance(facesContext);
              //set a new viewRoot, otherwise context.getViewRoot returns null
              UIViewRoot view = facesContext.getApplication().getViewHandler().createView(facesContext, "ContextName");
              facesContext.setViewRoot(view);
         return facesContext;
    2) Code to get the session bean:
    Utils utilsBean = (Utils) getFacesContext(request, response).getApplication().getVariableResolver().resolveVariable (getFacesContext(request, response), "utils");

  • How to get the value of a session bean through a scriptlet

    Hi,
    I have defined a session bean in faces-config file and now I want to acces this bean object through a scriptlet. How should I go about doing that ?
    eg in faces-config file I have something like this
    <managed-bean>
    <managed-bean-name>pc_DepTest</managed-bean-name>
    <managed-bean-class>pagecode.WEBINF.Pages.DepTest</managed-bean-class>
    <managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope>
    </managed-bean>
    Now in another pager called xyz.jsp
    I want to access the pc_DepTest object through a scriptlet... How should I do that ?
    Thanks

    I avoid scriplets, but you could write:
    pagecode.WEBINF.Pages.DepTest test = (pagecode.WEBINF.Pages.DepTest) FacesKit.getBean("pc_DepTest");
    //you use WEBINF in package names? gack!
    ...Where in FacesKit you've defined:
    public static Object getBean(String expr){
        FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
        Application app = context.getApplication();
        ValueBinding binding = app.createValueBinding("#{" + expr + "}");
        return binding.getValue(context);
    }

  • ADF BC how to access session backing bean value in servlet

    Hi everyone,
    How do I access session backing bean value in a servlet?

    Frank, thanks for your reply.
    I'm not sure how I can incorporate this example into my situation. Let me explain more detail about my problem.
    "servlet" in my post here actually means a custom servlet I wrote for rendering an image that is stored in db as ordimage. In this servlet, I get hold of my appmodule by using Configuation.createRootApplicationModule(). By doing so (If I'm not wrong) a new database session/connection is created. What I'm going to achieve is set application context for this new session/connection in db with the data stored in a session backing bean in the view layer.
    I can pass the required data to the servlet thru url parameter, but I don't want to do it this way for the reason that the data may contains sensitive information.
    I hope I have explained myself well.

    -- NerminHow do you get "context"? If you are storing it as an instance variable of the bean, then you
    should expect to get an exception. The FacesContext is scoped only to one request. Instead
    of storing it in the bean, use FacesContext.getCurrentInstance() each time you need to use it.

    We are using Weblogic 8.1.
    There are no exceptions when the time taken to complete the method is less.
    Thank You

    WebLogic does NOT kills threads that exceed value of the timeout. That is
    what the last part of the article is about. I don't think that the error you
    are getting isn't due to a transaction not timing out properly.
    You can definately set the timeout to a value higher than 300 seconds.

    Thank you for your response Bill. The article is very interesting but notsolving the problem described in the
    topics above.
    First of all we did not recive a Transaction Timeout exception but theclassical one :
    CORBA COMM_FAILURE 1398079697 No; nested exception is:
    org.omg.CORBA.COMM_FAILURE: vmcid: SUN minor code: 209 completed: No
    meaning that the thread is really dead.
    However I can understand that if a transaction exceeds
    the timeout value, the transaction is rolled back because
    the thread has been killed by Weblogic with a Thread.stop(). As Philipsaid in his article to the best way is to avoid too long SQL query and to
    adjust to transaction timeout to value enough safe for transaction
    completion.
    >
    That in fact does not work, none of the way to increase
    the transaction timeout value is efficient :
    with <transaction-timeout-seconds> tag in descriptor file
    with JTA parameter on the console
    with Server Tuning options on the console.
    Does it exist in WebLogic a solution to an EJB for performing SQL querieslonger that 300s ?

    We want to achieve this without modifying the existing source code of the EJB....

    As of my knowledge, to use interceptors we need to modify the EJB source code, but we do not want to touch the source code....

  • How to catch SQLException from a session bean

    Hello
    I have a stateless session bean which has a method to persist an entity (User) in the database. In User there is a foreign key (addressId) from another entity (Address). While i was persisting User, i entered a value of addressId which was not present in the Address table. Since there was a foreign key constraint on this field in User i got the following exception:

    Any clue on how to catch the ConstraintViolationException in the session bean?
    Thanks

    The problem is that the qry is not executed until you leave your method, so, the exception is catched by the Container. You should issue a entityManager.flush(); rigth "before" leaving the method and you are going to catch all the exceptions given

  • Error in updating secondary stateful session bean

              Hi all,
              I have set up a cluster of 2 managed servers with WebLogic 6.1. I have a
              stateful session bean and several stateless session beans. the stateful
              session bean keeps user info and limited cached objects, all are
              serializable. it seems working fine, even after killing any one of the
              servers, as long as one is alive. a java application client creates a
              stateful session bean first, then calls stateless session beans with the
              remote interface of the stateful bean as a method parameter. No problem
              when stateful session bean is created. However, each stateless bean method
              generates the following error message if I turn the debug on (level 64). No
              exception stack traces, and all methods execute successfully.
              <Error> <EJB> <Failed to update the secondary copy of a stateful session
              bean from home:clientsession>
              I wonder what causes the error, and why it tries to update the stateful
              session bean. in all stateless session beans, only read into the stateful
              bean.

  • Odd marshalling problems with EJB 3.0 stateless session bean

    Hello,
    I began encountering marshalling exceptions when invoking methods on a previously functionining facade bean. The problem seems to be almost arbitrary, in that certain packages receive marshalling exceptions, while others do not (my main client started failing, but then I realized that a simple test class was still working, along with oddly JSFs that invoke that main client, which fails outside of that scope). Is there some config issue with stateless session beans (in 3.0) that I might be missing? There are no duplicate versions of these class; they have not been modified; they've been compiled with the current IDE. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello,
    I began encountering marshalling exceptions when invoking methods on a previously functionining facade bean. Thanks.
