Fact Column Name displayed as a Legend (Pivot)

All,
The report has a Horizontal Stacked Bar Chart.
Activity Status that has values Auto Closed & Open is pulled in the Column Section of the Pivot
All Activity that has value 'All Activities' is pulled in the Row Section
Measure Section has the # of Activities.
When Activity Status has only one value i.e Auto Closed the Legend displays (Auto Closed , # of Activities)
If i exclude the Measure Labels , then the hover text does not show the # of Activities and also the Legend does not appear.
If i pull the measure Labels in the Rows Section then the Vertical Axis displays All Activities , # of Activities which again does not solve our purpose.
I created the same report in 10g but i do not see this issue.
Appreciate your help on this.

  • Changing the column names displayed via an ODBC driver

    Hi we are just starting to used Crystal Reports to improve the reporting capabaility of a legacy application, we can access the data fine using an ODBC driver. What we want to do is change the column names that are displayed within Crystal Reports so they are more user friendly and not in techno speak,, so that the users can create their own reports. Do we need to used Business Objects to setup a Universe to do this, is their a simple cheaper method sorry if this post is in the wrong section

    Can you set up "views" in your database? That would probably be the easiest way to do this.

  • Re :Table: AR_RECEIVABLE_APPLICATIONS  -- Column Name : DISPLAY

    Hi Team,
    Can you please let me know the significance of the following column : DISPLAY in the table : AR_RECEIVABLE_APPLICATIONS
    The following is displayed in eTRM--> Y or N flag to indicate whether this is the latest application
    -Sridhar
    Edited by: 838391 on Jan 17, 2012 2:34 AM

    The following is the answer :
    'Displays' field from table AR_RECEIVABLE_APPLICATIONS_ALL is indicating if receipt has been applied by user or not. It happens that an user decide to apply a receipt and then to un-apply it. When he performs un-apply the Display change to N and is not visible on Receipts form anymore.

  • Automatic Report Bursting based on column names given by user as parameter.

    Hi,
    Could some help me achieve the following functionality. The requirement are:
    1. create a report that has parameters that are column names (display values e.g: department, location, employee job code)
    2. the end user will select one or more columns from the multi-select parameter
    3. we want that there should be a button on clicking that the user should get automatic file bursting. He should not be required to go to schedules tab and create a new job for that.
    4. the report should burst to a file location depending on the columns selected by the user, e.g. if user selected department and location then we should have files saved in the set file location as sales-india.pdf, sales-us.pdf, hr-india.pdf, hr-us.pdf and so on.
    I am new to BI Publisher.
    Could you help me in creating such a parameter, what should be report sql for capturing the data from parameter and then doing report bursting automatically based on two or more parameter values given by the user.
    There is no need to show the report to the user in BI Publisher as there are thousands of rows in a table. Three tables join to give the employee data.
    -Priyanka

    Thanks for a quick response but I am still not clear on
    1. how to do this using custom java code
    and
    2. actually user would login to interactive dashboard and there he will give these parameters using which we need to automatically burst a BI publisher report. Can this be done some how?

  • Item value as column name in select

    Hi,
    I have a problem with selecting the columns in the query using items. For example: I have a query:
    select column_a from table; or select column_b from table;
    and I want to do something like this:
    - any item in which I choose the column name
    - query: select column_from_item from tale
    Is it possible?
    My apex version: 4.0.2.00.07
    My oracle db version: oracle 11g

    Unfortunately, it does not work. For example:
    I have a table book (title, themes ...), which is eight rows. When I create a static list of items containing the column names (display name and returns the name) and a report based on select according to your design(select :P5_select from table;), you get eight records in the name of the column.
    item: select list -> static list -> display value: Title, return value: Title, name: P1_title
    select :P1_title from books;
    result which i get:
    Title
    Title
    Title

  • Setting Column Names in Dynamic Pivot Query

    Hi all,
    I'm having trouble setting column names in a dynamic pivot query and was wondering if someone could please help me figure out what I need to do.
    To help you help me, I've setup an example scenario in my hosted account. Here's the login info for my hosted site at [http://apex.oracle.com]
    Workspace: MYHOSTACCT
    Username : DEVUSER1
    Password : MYDEVACCTAnd, here is my test application info:
    ID     : 42804
    Name   : dynamic query test
    Page   : 1
    Table 1: PROJECT_LIST         (Alias = PL...  Listing of Projects)
    Table 2: FISCAL_YEAR          (Alias = FY...  Lookup table for Fiscal Years)
    Table 3: PROJECT_FY           (Alias = PF...  Intersection table containing project fiscal years)
    Table 4: PROJECT_FY_HEADCOUNT (Alias = PFH... Intersection table containing headcount per project and fiscal year)Please forgive the excessive normalization for this example, as I wanted to keep the table structure similar to my real application, which has much more going on.
    In my sample, I have the "Select Criteria" region, where the user specifies the project and fiscal year range that he or she would like to report. Click the Search button, and the report returns the project headcount in a pivoted fashion for the fiscal year range specified.
    I've got it working using a hard-coded query, which is displayed in the "Hardcoded Query" region. In this query, I basically return all years, and set conditions on each column which determines whether that column should be displayed or not based on the range selected by the user. While this works, it is not ideal, as there could be many more fiscal years to account for, and this is not very dynamic at all. Anytime a fiscal year is added to the FISCAL_YEAR table, I'd have to update this page.
    So, after reading all of the OTN SQL pivot forums and "Ask Tom" pivot thread, I've been able to create a second region labeled "Dynamic Query" in which I've created a dynamic query to return the same results. This is a much more savvy solution and works great; however, the column names are generic in the report.
    I had to set the query to parse at runtime since the column selection list is dynamic, which violates SQL rules. Can anyone please help me figure out how I can specify my column names in the dynamic query region to get the same column values I'm getting in the hardcoded region?
    Please let me know if you need anymore information, and many thanks in advance!
    Mark

    Hi Tony,
    Thanks so much for your response. I've had to study up on the dbms_sql package to understand your function... first time I've used it. I've fed my dynamic query to your function and see that it returns a colon delimited list of the column names; however, I think I need a little more schooling on how and where exactly to apply the function to actually set the column names in APEX.
    From my test app, here is the code for my dynamic query. I've got it in a "PL/SQL function body returning sql query" region:
    DECLARE
      v_query      VARCHAR2(4000);
      v_as         VARCHAR2(4);
      v_range_from NUMBER;
      v_range_to   NUMBER;
    BEGIN
      v_range_from := :P1_FY_FROM;
      v_range_to   := :P1_FY_TO;
      v_query      := 'SELECT ';
      -- build the dynamic column selections by looping through the fiscal year range.
      -- v_as is meant to specify the column name as (FY10, FY11, etc.), but it's not working.
      FOR i IN v_range_from.. v_range_to  LOOP
        v_as    := 'FY' || SUBSTR(i, 3, 4);
        v_query := v_query || 'MAX(DECODE(FY_NB,' || i || ',PFH_HEADCOUNT,0)) '
          || v_as || ',';
      END LOOP;
      -- add the rest of the query to the dynamic column selection
      v_query := rtrim(v_query,',') || ' FROM ('
        || 'SELECT FY_NB, PFH_HEADCOUNT FROM ('
        || 'SELECT FY_ID, FY_NB FROM FISCAL_YEAR) A '
        || 'LEFT OUTER JOIN ('
        || 'SELECT FY_ID, PFH_HEADCOUNT '
        || 'FROM PROJECT_FY_HEADCOUNT '
        || 'JOIN PROJECT_FY USING (PF_ID) '
        || 'WHERE PL_ID = ' || :P1_PROJECT || ') B '
        || 'ON A.FY_ID = B.FY_ID)';
      RETURN v_query;
    END;I need to invoke GET_QUERY_COLS(v_query) somewhere to get the column names, but I'm not sure where I need to call it and how to actually set the column names after getting the returned colon-delimited list.
    Can you (or anyone else) please help me get a little further? Once again, feel free to login to my host account to see it first hand.
    Thanks again!

  • How to get the Column names of output that is displaying in Sql Developer(Oracle 11g).

    Hi,
        I am using OCCI to interact with DB through code, which means I am writing a vc++ file to interact with Data Base and execute the Stored Procedure which I am calling from the C++ Code. And  also displaying the output of the Stored Procedures to the Front End. I am succeeded in this, but now I should be able to display  the Column names of the output to Front End. Can any one help me on this.
    Example:
    Sno  |   Sname
    ------- |-------------
    1          ABC
    2          DEF
    I am getting (1,ABC) and (2,DEF) as the output of the Stored Procedure but I need the Column names also to display. How to get them.
    Thanks in Advance..:)

    Look at Re: exporting csv via pl/sql - select statement?
    It has an example how to extract the column name from a cursor. You have to check, whether you can use DBMS_SQL.DESCRIBE_COLUMNS
    Your procedure might need another out parameter, that returns the column names , e.g. as comma separated list or as varray.

    It is ugly to force multiple rows into a single row. But it can be done and can be done dynamically as the following approach shows.
    SQL> create or replace type TStrings as table of varchar2(4000);
    2 /
    Type created.
    SQL>
    SQL> create or replace function ForceColumns( cur SYS_REFCURSOR ) return TStrings is
    2 setCols TStrings;
    3 setResults TSTrings;
    4 begin
    5 setResults := new TStrings();
    6 loop
    7 fetch cur into setCols;
    8 exit when cur%NOTFOUND;
    9
    10 if setCols.Count > 0 then
    11 setResults.Extend( setCols.Count );
    12 for i in 1..setCols.Count
    13 loop
    14 setResults( setResults.Count-i+1 ) := setCols(i);
    15 end loop;
    16 end if;
    17 end loop;
    18
    19 return(setResults);
    20 end;
    21 /
    Function created.
    SQL>
    SQL> select
    2 ForceColumns(
    3 CURSOR(
    4 select TStrings(object_id,object_name,object_type) from user_objects where rownum <= 5
    5 )
    6 ) as RESULT_SET
    7 from dual
    8 /
    RESULT_SET
    TSTRINGS('TABLE', 'A', '70998',
    'PROCEDURE', 'ABC', '54360',
    'TABLE', 'ANIMALS', '84829',
    'TABLE', 'B', '69604',
    'PROCEDURE', 'BUILDNAMEMAP', '70155')
    SQL>Note that as the row can contain any number of columns, it needs to be dynamic. This approach uses a collection type called TStrings to achieve this.

  • Can I show the column name for my legend?

    I have a bunch of graphs where the legend labels (ie. the values from the column) aren't really informative (ie. simple numeric values), and are part of a dimensional hierarchy, so you might see a graph whose legend has 1, 14, 38, 141 and you click on one of them and get another graph whose legend is 345, 6546, 2342. My current solution is to create a logical column prepending the value with a column name, so my values are now "District 1", "District 14", "District 38", "District 141". But it would be so much nicer if I could just show "District" above the legend. Is there any way to do this?

    My be this can give you a help:
