Fading words in and out

Hi! I'm basically new to Flash (I used it years ago, but have forgetten a lot about it). Anyway, I want to do something really basic and simple. I want to have a word fade in then fade out. Then another word in another place fade in and fade out. I really just want someone to point me in the direction of a good tutorial. I can take it from there. Thanks so much!

Fading picture in and out

Greets.
I'm just starting to get to know flash. I have a picture
which I've tweened from one place to another and i want to make it
fade in at the beginning and out at the end. I've tried adding a
keypoint near the end and using the alpha feature to fade it out,
but when I do that it just progressively fades out for the whole
duration.
Any ideas?

Aha. I think I have it now. I tried using classic tween and
it made things much easier. I think I was using a motion tween
before >_<. Anyhow, thanks for the help =D

Fading Buttons in and Out

Is it possible to have the Actual "BUTTONS" fade in and out at certatins times in my menu? I've seen it done in other tutorials but they never explain how it was done. I cant' seem to find any tutorials on this.

The appearance of the "buttons" is simply a video creation that is part of the movie file that is playing in the background of the motion menu. They are not really buttons. But, they display the text and other aspects of what the user will see as a button. The background video can fade them in, and out for that matter; but generally they fade in and stay.
The Encore menu will define a "loop point" at some number of seconds into the background movie, and when that point is reached, the button highlights (and the link functionality of the button) become active. Up to that point (and even if the buttons "appear" earlier), the user cannot click on the button area and go to a linked movie. Once the loop point is reached, links can be clicked/selected by DVD remote.
You generally take the Encore menu you are patterning, place the still in After Effects, and animate/add video, but at some point in the video, you get to the exact position of the menu. That is important so that Encore has the highlights placed in the right location.

Fading sound in and out in a slide

Hi everyone,
I was trying to set a sound file to start with a fade when a certain slide starts, and to fade in when I click to exit the slide.
The start and stop audio builds don't seem to do the trick.
Is it possible to do this without going to garage band or other external software to edit the sound?

at a minimum, apply the stop() method to your soundChannel.
you should also ready you sound for gc though there's no guarantee
it will be gc'd.

Playlist - fading tracks in and out

Hi,
I'm making a playlist for a friend's party - when I play music through iTunes on the PC, the tracks fade into one another - can I play them back like this through my iPod?

In other words, I emptied out a folder on my main MAC to make space and the next subsequent backup backed up the EMPTY FOLDER and then deleted the "old backup" that actually contained the contents of the very important folder.
Now only the emptied folder exists on my MAC and in the two backups on my Time machine backup drive.
This was clearly a big mistake on my part not realizing that the "old backup" being deleted by Time Machine would include backed up files that I had no intention of getting rid of....
What can I do now?
Is DATA RETREIVAL even an option?
I am sure that the Folder of files that I need are on the most recently deleted "OLD BACKUP" but how do I get to this, if even possible?????

It may be possible to recover some of the data, if it hasn't been overwritten, but it won't be cheap or easy.
You've posted in the Time Capsule forum, but you mention a "backup drive." If your backups are on a Time Capsule's internal HD, instead of an external HD, it's even worse.

I was offered a free trial and it does not work, I filled out name and home address for future action i.e. full member ship but still trial does not do enough to print my pdf to word converstion and did not allow me to print once ready!!!

I was using adobe reader with no problems but when I went to print an pdf file to a word document it did not work and adobe wanted to charge me approx. $ 25.00. I do not understand because I just installed this adobe program, how can I convert a pdf file to a word file and then print it out?

The usual cause of a problem such as you describe is this.
1. I download Adobe Acrobat Pro free trial.
2. I install the trial (or not).
3. But then I run Adobe Reader
4. I try to use Export PDF or Create PDF in Adobe Reader.
5. Nothing has changed, these still need a subscription.
If this is the case, make sure you use Acrobat. It does NOT change Reader, it's entirely separate from it.

HT4623 Tried to update my iPhone 4 this morning and it's frozen. When I turn it off and on again I just get the apple sign fading in and out and cannot use the phone

Can anyone help. I tried to update my iPhone 4 this morning and it just got half way through the update and froze. I managed to turn it off eventually, but now all it will do is show the apple sign fading in and out and is un usable. It's not even being recognised as plugged into the laptop!!!!!!!

Save the Word document. Create your email in your normal mail application (Mail?), click on the add attachment icon (the paperclip if you are using Mail). Navigate to where you saved the Word file and select it. It should now appear as an attachment in your email. If you are sending it to a PC user and you are using Mail make sure 'Send Windows-friendly attachments' is selected in the edit menu. And if you don't want the attachment to display inline within the body of the email Control+Click on it and select 'view as icon'.

Music fading in and out with XtremeGam

OK, I have Vista Ultimate x64. I also have the Logitech Z-5500 5. speakers. Everything ws sounding perfect and couldn't ask for anything to be better after I squared away my issues with not having EAX effects while gaming. Truthfully I really have no idea how I did that but the EAX worked fine in games after I download Alchemy but the games I am playing are not supported in Alchemy....strange. Anyway, when I built the new computer I only downloaded the drivers and no other software, I was told I needed to download Alchemy and also get the Creative Audio Launcher in order to get the EAX to work properly. After I did that all went to hell with playing music and only music. I now have issues with music in Itunes fading in and out really bad. I had uninstalled the Creative Audio Console(I had downloaded it a few days after the Alchemy and that was when the stufff hit the fan) and after doing that I ended up with a problem with Control Panel and the Windows games not opening. I took care of that problem so now it is on to why the music is still fading in and out I had considered that it may be I need to uninstall ALL of the Creative crap and then install only what I am needing, the Creative Audio Console(not the Launcher), drivers, and Alchemy. So any ideas of what can actually be the problem(s) I really hate to listen to music that is constantly fading in and out and my wife more or less uses the computer as a huge Mp3 player, she is real upset and is going off the walls not having her music play right. She listens to the music kind of loud and that is real noticable at those high volumes.Also, the speakers are not the issue, I hooked up my old set and I know they worked properly and they still gavve me the same results. I figure it has to be either the sound card or Itunes. I have not played music in any other media player yet so it is possible for it to be an Itunes problem instead. I plan on posting on their forums as well to see if I can get any help from that end. I had the same thing with Winamp. What I did was add Winamp to Alchemy manually and that cleared it up. I don't know if the same will work for iTunes or not though. Good luck!

Is anyone else having problems with playback volume fading in and out during a song?

I've noticed that when I play a song now the volume (or probably more correctly the high frequencies) seem to fade in and out. It is a constant "wave" of which ebbs and flows during every song. It has become very annoying. I checked the EQ settings, Playback Enhancer and Crossfade settings. All are normal. Anyone else experiencing this fading in and out of the high frequency sounds?

Try deleting the preferences, and other maintenance measures, like clearing caches.
Also, try running FCP X from another user account. I bet that FCP X will run smoothly in a fresh account, indicating that the cause lies somewhere in your user settings, preferences, or whatnot.
The 10.0.4 is the fastest and most stable version yet for the vast majority of users. I hope you soon see your problems resolved.

Problems fading sound clips in and out in iM 6 HD

I have imported a MP3 music clip into my movie timeline. It plays fine on playback.But when I share with iDVD, and test it on my computer or a DVD player the fade in/out on that specific spot is very abrupt and erratic and sounds quite terrible. I have tried changing frame rate settings from 29.97fps to 25 fps ( We run PAL and not NTSC) here in South Africa. I've even tried importing the original MP3 as an .AIFF and even a Quicktime movie from Quicktime Pro. After writing the DVD, the fade ins and outs sound terrible, no matter what I do.

You can't use PAL at anything but 25 fps!
How are you setting the fade? Usually one 'extends' the timeline and manipulates the volume there.

How do I adjust my titles so they don't fade in and out? I have hundreds of photos/videos on screen for a second or so each, for a year-long birthday video, and I need the dates in my titles to be steady rather than fading in and out spastically.

I have been working on a project since December of 2012 for my son's first birthday. Basically, it's a photo or quick video each day of his life so far. I used the "upper" title and made the titles not fade in and out, because that could give someone a seizure. The idea is a seamless title that ticks away each day. But in the new iMovie, it changed my settings, and I can't for the life of me find how to change them back.
Now, each date flashes in and out, in and out, in and out. Fractions of seconds go by. It's really distracting and annoying.
How do I get the titles to remain on screen and not fade in and out? I had it just how I wanted it, but now we're rapidly approaching my son's birthday, and the video is suddenly a mess.
How do I fix this?

I am working with the very same concept for my project and the auto fade in and out has messed everything up. If I hear or a fix I'll be sure to reply here to let you know!

Fading a mask in - and out?

While there is possible to fade in and out in Compositing in Video Animations, there is no such functionallity in Color Correction.
Is there a way I can fade in - and out - a color correction mask in the same clip? Workaround?

1) Cut the clip where you want the mask to fade in.
2) Apply the mask to second half of the clip, past the cut point.
3) Place a cross dissolve transition at the cut point.
