Fail to pass parameters to subreports via VB6 application

Hi everybody,
I'm a newbie here and I need to view a report (CR10) via a VB6 application where you enter the report's parameters. The report has subreports where its parameters are linked to the main report's ones.
The application works properly on the development computer but doesn't work on the client computer (Crystal Reports 10 is not installed on it). In fact, the "Enter Parameter Value" message box appears and wants me to enter the parameters manually.
For reports without subreports, it works nicely.
How can I do to fix this problem ?
I really need your help.
Thank you
Delphine

Hello, Delphine;
If the parameters are linked to the main report they should pass correctly.
Linked parameters will fail if the database logon fails and the data they are linked to does not exist.
Open the report in the Crystal Report designer. Go to Database|Set Datasource location.
What is displayed for the properties of the main report database?
For the subreport database?
How do you pass the connection properties in code at runtime?

  • Why I can't pass parameters into CR from VB6

    I want to Pass parameters into crystal report from VB6.
    But whatever I try, it don't work Fine,
    always Show the message "This field name is not known".
    Crystal Report::
    Parameter: a.@cmpy;
                       b.@p1
    formula:
    a. If {?@cmpy} ="USA" or {?@cmpy} ="usa" then
          "This is test 1 sentences"
       else if {?@cmpy}="TWD" or {?@cmpy} = "twd"  then
          "This is test 2 sentences"
    b. if trim({?@p1})="1" then "This is test 3 sentences"
    VB::

    Public oRpt As CRAXDDRT.Report
    oRpt.ParameterFields(1).ClearCurrentValueAndRange
    oRpt.ParameterFields(2).ClearCurrentValueAndRange
    oRpt.ParameterFields(1).AddCurrentValue ("TWD")
    oRpt.ParameterFields(2).AddCurrentValue ("1")
    I had trid to use "IsCurrentValueSet" function to check whether parameter was set or not, and It responsed "Ture",so I so confused about it.
    Anyone know about this??
    ps. I had trid other way that change the formula indirectly, although it can work fine, but it isn't a right way to solve my problem.

    I Find something.
    First I tried to add parameter and wanted to see these value on Report.
    So I inserted {?@cmpy} and {?@p1} into report, and used VB code
    "oRpt.ParameterFields(1).AddCurrentValue ("TWD")" and "oRpt.ParameterFields(2).AddCurrentValue ("1")",
    then ran the process, but it didn't display any value on report,
    so why it couldn't pass value into parameter??
    then I tried other way which was to add new parameter, and used the same way to pass
    value into parameter, then it can display value on report.
    So the different between these is {?@cmpy} and {?@p1} which come from
    Stores Procedure.
    While I set Database in crystal report, set all value into Store Procedure's
    parameter(the window about "Enter Parameter Values"), then it automatic come out the DB columns and parameter(SP parameter)
    , course include {?@cmpy} and {?@p1}.
    Do this problem cause my question?
    Can we pass value into parameter which come from SP parameter??
    Can we use these parameter into forumla??

  • Passing parameters to FMX via windows CMD

    Hi, all!
    is it possible to run a form from windows command line and pass some specific parameters to that form?
    for example,
    start_form.bat[
    c:\orawin95\bin\ifrun60.exe module=myForm *<pass parameters syntax>* userid=user1/user1_pass@oraInst
    Next command showing info about using ifrun60 and I think that passing parameters to a form is not provided.
    ifrun60 ?
    Thanx

    I can not change the code of the form because it is a part of the banking system, purchased from the developer (mainly this form called from reports menu using CALL_FORM). Parameter, of course, there is, otherwise I would not ask the question.
    Arun, you were right!
    Yesterday's attempt to run the form failed, because perhaps I was mistaken in the name of the parameter form (case sensitive, I was taped in lower case).
    So, result:
    there are parameter named MST_MNEMO, and
    ifrun60 module=MS_REPORTS mst_mnemo=TAX_REPORT
    works as I expected, consequently, in the form you can pass any option that name is different from the parameters of IFUN60. ;)
    Thanks to all.

  • How do i pass parameters to a web dynpro application ?

    Hi all,
    how do i best possible pass (serverspecific) parameters to a web dynpro application ?
    i wrote a web dynpro application that, among other things, sends an email and stores files on a server directory. Therefor i need parameters like e.g. "mailhost" or "directory".
    The way i chose is to make a *.properties file. But from my point of view there are some disadvantages.
    1) When i deploy the WD App to a new server, i have to edit the properties file before. I don't know how to do that. Do i have to edit the *.properties file again, before i make a new ear-Archive with NWDS ?
    2) When the properties a wrong or change for a deployed app, i have to restart the J2EE Engine. Thats not convenient for a production server.
    Is there a better way ?
    Thanks
    Andreas
    (And I promise to return and reward the answers)

    Hi Andreas,
    You can't use something like portalapp.xml because this is not supported by webdynpro, but ... you can add this parameters at the end off the webdynpro address line. like http://<host>:<port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/<Webdynproproject>/<webdynproApplication>?host=yourhost
    In your application you can get these variables:
    String host = WDWebContextAdapter.getWebContextAdapter().getRequestParameter("host");
    when you create a webdynpro iview you can specify the default value for the variables in the URL in the properties of the iview and i think you can personalize them later.
    kind regards,

  • Passing Parameters To Subreports & Crosstab Reports

    I have a report which contains several subreports. In the main report I have record selection formula which selects records based on the date value. I would like to use this same formula in the subreports but I only want to prompt the user for the dates once. All records both in the main and subreports will be selcted for the same time period. I do not want to use on demand subrerports.
    Rather then using Subreports there maybe a better way to go about this record selection, but I am not sure. My records are in the following format
    Record 1 Field Name #1 , value #2, date 1
    Record 2 Field Name #2, value #2, date 2
    Record 3 Field Name #3, value #3, date 3
    I want to create a cross tab report but there are over 30 field names which I want to put in the column headings. I tried using group options "spceified order" which limts the field in the first cross tab. Is there a way to create additional cross tabs to pick up the additional fields and where should these additional cross tabs be put ie "report header" etc.
    Phasor

    Since you have the same paraemters in both main report and sub report try to link the main report parameters with sub report paraemters so that it will prompt only once and pass all the values from main report to sub report.

  • Passing parameters between portletized ADF Faces applications, possible?

    Hello,
    In the developer guide, section 4.5.3 (http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32110_01/webcenter.1013/b31074/jpsdg_pages.htm#CHDGGCGE) it says that you can synchronize portlets using an ADF Faces component value. However, that example do not use a value coming from a real portlet, the parameter come from a selectOneChoice define in the container page.
    Is there a way to achieve the same thing but with the selectOneChoice being placed in the WSRP 2.0 portlet? Basically the communication scheme is WSRP 2.0 to WSRP 2.0 which is something possible using URL parameters. However, the problem with JSF components is that they pass their values through a JavaScript launched POST submit so the values are never added to the URL and even worst, you cannot be sure of the generated parameter name as it depends on the context in which the component exists (mainly the presence of a parent NamingContainer) and the only way to know that parameter name for sure is to have a way to call component.getClientId(facesContext) which is impossible for the portlet container and therefore for the other portlets.
    To put it shortly, is there a way to send a navigation parameter from a portletized ADF Faces application to its container page beside using goButton and goLink (we need to keep the action/actionListener functionality)?
    Regards,
    Simon Lessard

    Can someone explain how to assign a value to a parameter in JSF like in the ParameterFormPortlet source code? Something in replacement of this :
        if (viewMode)
          // Set the new parameter values. These will be intepreted by the
          // container as navigational parameters as the names match the names of
          // the declared parameters.
          actionResponse.setRenderParameter(PARAMETER1, param1);
          actionResponse.setRenderParameter(PARAMETER2, param2);
          actionResponse.setRenderParameter(PARAMETER3, param3);
        }I mean, how to replace setRenderParameter to achieve the same thing inside a JSF binding bean for example. Is it possible via the PortletContext?
    Thanks in advance for any hint.

  • Passing parameters through URL in ADF Application with UIShell

    Hi,
    JDeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.6.0
    The UI in our application is developed with UIShell pageTemplate.
    We have a Home page created with PageTemplace "UIShell.jspx" and this page is placed as a view in adfc-config.xml (the Unbounded Task Flow).
    The other pages for our application are created using Page Fragments and these pages are called from Home_taskmenu.xml through Bounded task flows.
    With this setting, the URL(after SignIn) will look like,
    http://localhost:7101/OperationalPlanning/faces/Home?_afrWindowMode=0&_adf.no-new-window-redirect=true&_afrLoop=6811862222491857&_adf.ctrl-state=29wus7giw_19
    We have a requirement to build the URL which should open a Page Fragment directly after Signing In to the application. And we have a id to be passed as a parameter, so it should open the page fragment with the details based on the id value that we pass.
    The parameters are already registered in the Bounded Task Flow(which has the page fragment) and I could open in the "localArea" using a link in the Home Page.
    Now, I want to directly launch the Bounded task flow by passing a parameter, so that it opens the Page Fragment as a tab once we signIn.
    Let me know if there is any solution for this requirement.
    If there is any document to follow for this kind of requirement in an application which is created using the UIShell, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Tamil

    hi Frank,
    Thanks for the response. We followed your suggestion and managed to capture URL parameters in afterPhase(LifeCycle.PREPARE_MODEL) and save parameters to ViewScope.
    Then in beforePhase(LifeCycle.PREPARE_RENDER), we retrieve parameters back and invoke FndUIController.openMainTask method to launch the correponding taskflow but nothing happens.
    public static void openTaskflowOnNewTab(String taskflowId) {
    try {
    FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ELContext elc = fc.getELContext();
    ExpressionFactory ef = fc.getApplication().getExpressionFactory();
    ValueExpression valExp = ef.createValueExpression(elc,"#{bindings.openMainTask}",Object.class);
    JUCtrlActionBinding methodBinding = (JUCtrlActionBinding)valExp.getValue(elc);
    Map params = methodBinding.getParamsMap();
    params.put("label", "Some Title");
    params.put("taskFlowId", taskflowId);
    params.put("reuseInstance", true);
    methodBinding.invoke();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    To prove that this method works, we create a UI button on the page (which binds this method in PageDef.xml), and associate this method to onclick event. At runtime after page is opened, clicking on the button does launch the taskflow on new tab successfully.
    Do you happen to know what I do wrong in the beforePhase() method?
    Thanks

  • Passing parameters from AdfFacesContext to EBS applications.

    Hi:
    I have a requirement where I need to pass some parameters from a .jspx page and need to access these parameters from EBS controller classes. We have tried to instantiate WebAppsContext passing .dbc parameter file and by validating the login in the backing bean class. Can someone please confirm us if this is the right way to do this or there are any alternatives? If I pass some parameters in session object following the above steps should these parameters be gettable from EBS controllers?
    Thanks /Santanu

    Hi Santanu,
    What you are doing is the correct method, But the .jspx, First get the root Applicatin Module and initialize the apps context.
    Then you can use the parameters from appscontext.
    import oracle.apps.fnd.common.AppsContext;
    import oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAApplicationModule;
    AppsContext m_ctx=null;
    OAApplicationModule am
    public OAApplicationModule getRootAM()
    if(m_ctx==null)
    m_ctx=getAppsContext();
    OAApplicationModule am = OAApplicationModuleUtil.getOAApplicationModule(m_ctx);
    return am;
    Thanks.

  • Calling WebDynpro Application and Passing parameters

    Hi,
    I want to call a webdynpro application from another application and also i want to pass parameters to the called webdynpro application.
    Is there an example on SDN which shows how this can be done. If not please advise how this can be done.
    Thanks and Regards
    Sidharth

    Hi Sidharth,
    until the tutorial is available, here's a step by step guide.
    1. Create an outbound exit plug, for example "CallApp" in an interface view controller belonging to the calling component.
    2. Add a string parameter 'Url' to the plug "CallApp". It's important that the parameter starts with uppercase 'U'.
    3. Declare a controller usage of the interface view controller for the view controller, which will fire the plug.
    4. Add an action to the calling view controller.
    5. Add the following code snippet to the method body of the action handler. Change the application name "CalledApp" to the name of your called application and the wdThis.wdGet<YourInterfaceView>Controller().wdFirePlugCallApp(url) so that it matches the names you defined. The example will not work, if the application is not part of the deployable object the calling component resides in.
    IWDDeployableObject componentDPO = wdComponentAPI.getDeployableObjectPart().getDeployableObject();
    String appName = "CalledApp";
    WDDeployableObjectPart[] applicationParts = componentDPO.getParts(WDDeployableObjectPartType.APPLICATION);
    WDDeployableObjectPart appPart = null;
    for (int idx = 0; idx < applicationParts.length; idx++) {
      appPart = applicationParts[idx];
      if (appPart.getShortName().equals(appName)) {
        break;
      appPart = null;
    if (appPart == null) {
      throw new WDRuntimeException(
        "The application: " + appName + " is not a part of: " + componentDPO.getName());
    Map urlParameters = new HashMap(1);
    urlParameters.put(ClientConstants.APPLICATION_PREFIX + "Param1", "Parameter sent by caller.");
    try {
      String url = WDURLGenerator.getApplicationURL(appPart, urlParameters);
      wdThis.wdGet<YourInterfaceView>Controller().wdFirePlugCallApp(url);
    } catch (WDURLException e) {
      throw new WDRuntimeException(e);
    6. Add a string value attribute named "ReceivedParameter" to the context of the component controller owning the target interface view.
    7. Declare a controller usage of this component controller for the target interface view controller.
    8. Add a startup plug to the target interface view controller. Add a parameter ("Param1" in this example) to the plug. It's important, that the name of the plug parameter is the same (case sensitive) as used for the URL generation.
    9. Add the following to the method body of the startup plug handler:
    wdThis.wdGet<YourComponent>Controller().wdGetContext().currentContextElement().setReceivedParameter(Param1);
    10. To check, if the parameter passing works, map a value attribute in a view controller to the component controller context and bind e.g. the text property of a TextView to that attribute.
    Hope that helps.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Passing Parameters via Post Method from Webdynpro Java to a web application

    Hello Experts,
    I want to pass few parameters from a web dynpro application to an external web application.
    In order to achieve this, I am referring to the below thread:
    HTTP Post
    As mentioned in the thread, I am trying to create an additional Suspend Plug parameter (besides 'Url' of type String) with name 'postParams' and of type Map.
    But when I build my DC, I am getting the same error which most of the people in the thread have mentioned:
    Controller XXXCompInterfaceView [Suspend]: Outbound plug (of type 'Suspend') 'Suspend' may have at most two parameters: 'Url' of type 'string' and 'postParams' of type 'Map'.
    I am using SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio Version: 7.01.00
    Kindly suggest if this is the NWDS version issue or is it something else that I am missing out.
    Also, if it is the NWDS version issue please let me know the NWDS version that I can use to avoid this error.
    Any other suggestion/alternative approach to pass the parameters via POST method from webdynpro java to an external web application apart from the one which is mentioned in the above thread is most welcome.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Anurag

    Hi,
    This is purely a java approach, even you can try this for your requirement.
    There are two types of http calls synchronous call or Asynchronous call. So you have to choose the way to pass parameters in post method based on the http call.
    if it is synchronous means, collect all the values from users/parameters using UI element eg: form and pass all the values via form to the next page is nothing but your web application url.
    If it is Asynchronous  means, write a http client in java and integrate the same with your custom code and you can find an option for sending parameters in post method.
    here you go and find the way to implement Asynchronous  scenario,

  • Passing Parameters via OpenDocument URL to OLAP Analysis .amw

    Hello together,
    did anyone ever manage to successfully create an OpenDocument URL which passes parameters to an existing analysis workspace .amw?
    We already linked to other .crp and BEx reports, but maybe .amw needs some special syntax..
    I appreciate every hint
    Thanks
    CR Enterprise 4.0 SP2 in usage

    Hi,
    I can confirm: The situation for A-OLAP is the same as it was for Voyager.
    Analysis, like voyager, supports outbound opendoc params (ie pass context to WebI/CR) but not inbound params. The only exception is that you can specify which Voyager workspace to open.
    Voyager/analysis supports SAP connection parameters on opendoc, but this is a manual selection in prompts. You cannot programmatically set connection variables.
    Today we also support "Jumplinks"... a feature in both Voyager and A-OLAP that allows contextual information to be passed to a pre-defined Crystal Report.
    For BI4.1 (end 2012) SAP plans to make A-OLAP more open. This includes supporting SAP's Report-Report-Interface (RRI) and extending the OpenDocument parameters beyond just the workspace name that is supported today.

  • Calling a function and passing parameters via Variables

    I've got an XML file that is loading in data and is calling functions.
    I've figured out how to call the methods from classes with variables set from the XML file:
    var functionToCall:String = xml.functions.func[0].to_fire.toString();
    myClass[functionToCall]();
    This calls the function perfectly.
    I was wondering if there is anyway to pass parameters into the function as well through variables.  Some functions may have no parameters, some functions could have 5... so the xml could be like this:
    <functions>
       <func>
        <to_fire>function1</to_fire>
        <param>
         <value>true</value>
         <type>Boolean</type> <!-- Must be set to Boolean, String or Number -->
        </param>
       </func>
       <func>
        <to_fire>function2</to_fire>
        <param/>
       </func>
       <func>
        <to_fire>function3</to_fire>
        <param>
         <value>false</value>
         <type>Boolean</type> <!-- Must be set to Boolean, String or Number -->
        </param>
        <param>
         <value>My String Value</value>
         <type>String</type> <!-- Must be set to Boolean, String or Number -->
        </param>
        <param>
         <value>10</value>
         <type>Number</type> <!-- Must be set to Boolean, String or Number -->
        </param>
       </func>
    </functions>
    whats the best way to set something like this up?

    how would I set something like that up?
    in the class:
    public function myFunction(_param1:String, _param2:Number):void {
    then to call it, would ParamTypes be cast as an array or object or something?
    var functionVariable:String = "myFunction";
    myClass[functionVariable](??);
    Or do I structure the XML file in some way to pass in the information?
