Failed to get IP address for Local Host (2) , OPMNCTL: opmn start failed

HI,
Hi, I have installed on Oracle 10g on Redhat Enterprise Linux V.2.1 . I was able to start OEM without any issues. Recently I had changed the static IP address and I couldn't able to start OPMNCTL and getting the following error while starting opmnctl start. error message is as follows.
Failed to get IP address for local host(2).....
Failed to get IP address for local host(2).....
Failed to get IP address for local host(2).....
my current configuration in /etc/hosts file is as follows.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain servername
After going through some of threads available in Oracle, I have added the static IP address in the /etc/hosts but still I am getting the same error.
my new hosts file is as follows.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain servername
10.21.253.102 localhost.localdomain servername
I don't know why this is looking for localhost (2). I did not set up any local host (2) and I could not see anything in my network confiuration also.
could you please help me in this issue? I appreciate your help in this regard.
Thanks
venkat

Hi, i think that the application server part is looking for a /etc/hosts entry
in this format:
127.0.0.1 localhost
As i noticed, this is used for internal communication.
Try this entry as is, without a domain...

  • "failed to get MAC address for machine"

    here is the jist of things.
    installed leopard and have it pimped out to my personal specs. I like where everything is and how things are working. No issues. just so you know, i only use WIFI for internet, i share with the guys upstairs. In order to get wifi on my machine, i use a USB dongle. works great no issues with it ever, well until i physically broke it. No big deal. So i replaced it with another one, different drivers/chipset worked.. And since i installed leopard i only backed it up once with TM, i dont care for daily/hrly backups, weekly is fine for me. Now after 2 weeks and a new usb network card. TM gives me an error. i click on the little red i and it says "the backup volume could not be found" so googled and searched the forums not much help, so i tried and formated my ext drive repaired and click on TM again, same error. In the error log in console, right after i turn on TM i get this error, "failed to get MAC address for machine" then 180 secs later, TM fails. again, and again.
    Can anyone tell me where i can find what MAC address its looking for??? ethernet has never been plugged in to my machine ever. its only been online via USB wifi. Im really lost here, i dont know what i can do.. im sure if i try another drive ill get the same error. please help if you can.. much appriciated.
    Jamie

    yeah i get a 'failed to get mac address' message too. what's weird is that it seems that leopard 'broke' my ethernet (there was no mac address, couldn't connect to the internet through ethernet after a clean install), and then 10.5.2 'fixed' it. for some reason, i have an 'ethernet 2' heading in system preferences that works correctly and has a mac address and everything, while the regular 'ethernet' tab doesn't work at all. however, i still get this time machine error. i don't understand why time machine is so incredibly fickle. sorry, i'm really of no help to anyone, other than adding another voice to the frustration.

  • No Hyperv Virtuals get DHCP address - but Physical Host Can

    HyperV Server 2012 Core on a dedicated machine on local domain.
    Machine connected directly into local network that has a DC running DHCP.
    None of the VM's can get a DHCP Address from the server. Even if i set static addresses still they cannot route anywhere, cannot even ping the HyperV server they are sat on but other local machines can!!!!
    The physical host cant ping the
    The physical HyperV server has no problem getting a DHCP address or any routing issues, nor do any of the other clients on the local network, including another HyperV server running server VM's
    What ive tried so far
    Deleted Virtual Switch and removed the NIC from the virtual hosts in HyperV Manager- then re-adding new one.
    Put in a different network card
    Removed Physical host from Domain, renamed machine to different name and re-joined
    Used different IP addresses for the Physical host
    Reloaded the HyperV server from scratch and created new VM.
    Ive had HyperV previously running on this machine without problem, so now i cant see why i cant get it running again.
    Anybody have any suggestions on what i can try next, im all out of ideas.

    Hi Fulgent,
    I am assuming that , the hyper-v server have two NICs , one for host and the other one  was  configured as an external switch for VMs .
    If the VMs can not access the dhcp and local network , please try to  delete the external switch then uninstall the Physical NIC in device manager and  click " scan for hardware changes " to reload it.
    Try to create external virtual switch for VMs again .
    Any further information please feel free to let us know .

  • Assigning ip address to local host with 2 interfaces

    Hi,
    I have not received any replies to my question yet. I am not sure if my question is unclear or the information provided insufficient. Please ask for any clarifications if that can help to solve this problem.
    (My final goal is to send a msg using a java program from one node to another using the wireless interface ath0 with aodv routing protocol).
    Thanks.
    Hi,
    I am a newbie, so please forgive me for any mistakes. My linux operating system has an ethernet interface which is already set to an ip by default to 20.20.1.2 I use the following command to assign a random ip addr to the ath0 interface
    ifconfig ath0 192.170.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
    Now, we have 2 ip address assigned to the local host.
    When I use the foll. statement InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostAddress(), I get the ethenet ip addr which is 20.20.1.2
    I want to somehow bind the localhost to the ip address assigned to the ath0 interface.
    My initial /etc/hosts file on boot up is :
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    ::1 localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
    fe00::0 ip6-localnet
    ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
    ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
    ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
    ff02::3 ip6-allhosts
    and the /etc/network/interfaces file is:
    auto lo eth1
    iface lo inet loopback
    iface eth1 inet dhcp
    I have already read all the posts in this forum relating to InetAddress, and from what I understood I tried a few things like manually assigning this new ip addr to the local host name in /etc/hosts file (which works only partially in the sense that the statement does return the ath0 ip 192.170.1.1 but when I try to ping the local host by name from another machine it still shows that the local host is bound to the ethernet ip 20.20.1.2) and also tried changing the /etc/network/interfaces file so that it also includes the ath0 interface but none of them seem to work.
    Any help in this matter is highly appreciated.
    Thank You.

    hi jverd,
    I have tried what you have sent but I can't figured out if I supplied the correct parameter.
         public static void main(String[] args)
              String host="10.199.30.59";
              try {
                   String hostname = InetAddress.getByName(host).getHostName();
                   System.out.println("HostName is " + hostname);
              } catch (UnknownHostException e) {
                   // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                   e.printStackTrace();
         }But the result remains: "HostName is 10.199.30.59".
    I was expecting to get "MyComputerName" as local host pc name.
    Thanks..

  • Getting IP address for 2nd hand HP LaserJet 6MP?

    We don’t have the user manual, because the printer is 2nd hand and did not come with one. I had read that the IP address might be on the back, but there are no IP-like numbers there.
    We are trying to get this printer running with an old clamshell iBook (OS 9.2) and an Asante bridge. Some posts in other threads say the Asante won’t work with this, but if we can get an IP address for the printer then perhaps we can be sure.
    I have read threads about running this printer, which is extolled as a workhorse, with 10.6 and we might try that next but it means buying another piece of equipment & maybe a new cable. We’ve already bought a used Apple Laserwriter 16/600 that turned out not to function (printed a test sheet fine then always reported a paper jam though there was none). And we bought the Asante bridge.
    All this in aid of occasional use for artistic purposes, using the printer to fuse (commercial) colored lettering onto regular black lettering printed onto gold-leafed paper. We did this for many years with our Apple Laserwriter that we raised from a pup, until it just finally wore out. Other modern printers either don’t get hot enough or aren’t forgiving enough to accept paper with gold leaf.
    I felt I had to mention this because so many of the other threads had replies like “Get a new printer, they’re faster and sweller“ etc. but there is not a one that will last for 15 years of regular use as our Apple Laserwriters did, and as many peoples’ old HP 6MPs seem to be doing. We threw away a Kodak printer, cheap thing clacked and vibrated like a rube goldberg machine.
    Anyway, suggestions on finding IP address for this printer?

    Cynthia Cheney wrote:
    Thank you, Greg. I tried the reconfiguration you suggested. In the Appletalk control panel I turned Appletalk off, then in that same panel chose “Connect via:” Ethernet. It then says below “no zones available” . When I try to print I get an error message, “Laserwwriter 8 cannot be used because of an internal error, -43” (I remember error #43!) Laserwriter 8 requires Appletalk, and I turned it off but it shows as active in the Chhoser when Laserwriter 8 is selected. When I went back to the Appletalk control panel Appletalk had been reactivated, though the pulldown menu still showed “Connect via:” Ethernet and “no zones available” . Appletalk address reads Node 128 and Network 65280, which either I chose many years ago or it was automatically chosen. After checking all this, still got the same error message when trying to print.
    You must have AppleTalk turned on to print to that printer _from a Mac running OS 9.2_. You must have AppleTalk turned off to print from a Mac running OS X 10.6.5.
    We’re only using the clamshell iBook because we thought it would work without buying additional equipment; we got the Asante box to go with the old Apple Laserwriter purchased previously (had mechanical problems). My husband would use the HP Printer perhaps twice a month, for a few copies of fairly short text each time onto goldleafed paper, so the iBook would be adequate.
    If the printer has an Ethernet port, either built in or using a DirectJet card, you should be able to print to it without the Asante Talk device. You can print to it from OS X using IPP. You can print to it from OS 9 using AppleTalk.
    I had read that 10.6 ended Apple support for certain old printers, but recent reading of threads has shown me that’s not so in this case. The old HP JetDirect things are on eBay but there’s quite a variety.
    Yes. And not all of them work with OS X 10.6 (or Windows 7). That would be why some of them are on eBay: the owners can't get them to work anymore and are making them someone else's problem.
    One there now, is: HP JetDirect 200M LIO Internal Print Server (J6039B) Feature
    Serves Ethernet and Fast Ethernet 802.3, 10BaseT and 10/100 BaseTX network types
    Supports any LIO-based printer

    Anyone know if this would work with the HP LaserJet 6MP and my husband’s iMac running 10.6?
    I'd look at HP's site.

  • Get IP Address For  a user name from Terminal

    hi experts,
    Can any one help me in finding the IP address for a user id.I want to find the ids for multiple logons.
    I tried using TERMINAL_ID_GET but it returns the IP only based on the user id.So i am getting only one IP.
    I tried with CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>GET_IP_ADDRESS and faced a same problem.
    So i want t find the IP address with respect to user id and Terminal ID.
    With thanks in  advance,
    Syed Ibrahim . G

    Hi,
    just check transaction SM04 (or program RSM04000_ALV). The program determines also the terminal ID and the IP adress.
      if long_usr_list = th_true.
          call 'ThUsrInfo' id 'OPCODE' field opcode_long_list
          id 'TABUSR' field usr_tabl-*sys*.
      else.
        call 'ThUsrInfo' id 'OPCODE' field opcode_list
          id 'TABUSR' field usr_tabl-*sys* .
      endif.
    Such calls usually should not be used. But anyway. Maybe this is helpful.
    Kind regards

  • Where can we get GP APIs for local development?

    I just realized that my local GP APIs (sap.comcafeugpapi.sda and sap.comcafeugpapi~wd.sda) are not longer valid as of SP7 due to some interface naming changes.
    it'd be better if the IDE group finally incorporate the GP APIs in their build because this is a know problem for quite some time already (the missing GP APIs in NWDS).
    But i'd appreciate any other ways to get them asap. Thanks, Andre

  • How do I get email address for printer?

    I have never been succesfull in obtaining an email address for my eprint.  Any suggestions.

    Hi mmramire2,
    If you have an ePrint capable printer, when you enable Web Services on the printer it will generate a printer code for you. This printer code will be valid for 24 hours and must be registered at the ePrint Center within this time. If you do not register the printer code, it will expire, and you will need to disable and then re-enable Web Services on the printer to generate a new code.
    I was an HP employee.

  • How to get delivery address for PO

    I have a problem.
    I am working on a SAP Script , which is for PO(Zmedruck_po) , which is a copy of
    MEDRUCK.
    I am asked to print the delivery adress in a window .
    The scenario is like this .
    In ME23N , under item details , there is a tab called DELIVERY ADDRESS
    this has option to enter the adress details or a delivery number in the  address text box .
    If the address number is present i have to print that address , else i have to print the address which is entered in the delivery address tab.
    If the delivey address number is there i have no problem in printing it ,But if address number is not there ,I need to know how to get the delivery address,
    is it the plant address, company code address ... ?
    I debuged ,but could not find out.
    Can anyone help please .

    Hi,
    I don't know the table that is used to store the manual address on the PO but if you get your ABAPer to checkl the code in ME21N they should be able to tell you.
    Or better still, if one of the other experts here know the table that is used they will post the solution.

  • Get IP address for an portal user session

    Hi all,
    I have a requirement where i need to get the following:
    -Client's IP address from where an user is connected to the portal.
    -Client's IP address from where someone change a user password (also if the DB keeps user who made the changes will be usefull)
    -Client´s IP address from where an user blocks his account
    I have checked the NWA (WebAdminApp), and there is a session monitoring where i can see the active sessions on portals and the IP where the user is connected to. I just want to know the API used for that and some information that can guide me. I cant find an API to help me with this, if any of you know something or have any information, it will be usefull.
    Regards,
    MC

    Hi Mariana,
    You might want to check the related javadocs:
    http://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04S/SPS09/wd/com/sap/tc/webdynpro/services/sal/adapter/api/WDProtocolAdapter.html#getProtocolAdapter()http://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04S/SPS09/wd/com/sap/tc/webdynpro/services/sal/adapter/api/IWDRequest.html#getClientHostAddress()
    Code would look something like:
    IWDRequest request = WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter() .getRequestObject() ;
    String clientHostAddress = request.getClientHostAddress();
    Hope it helps,
    D.
