Failing to detect NI PCI 1422

I have been experiencing a unique problem with the NI PCI 1422 board. After the first install, everything runs fine. However, after some period of operation, errors appear. Then if the board is ever physically removed from the PC, it will never be detected again.
I am running Windows 2000 Pro, on a AMD XP2100+ with 512Mb PC2700 DDR, and have tried several different motherboards. When you replace the motherboard, the card will be detected but only the first time the system is booted up. From then on it is non-existent. I have tried reinstalling everything, flashing the bios, reinstalling from a drive image where it works etc.
I have built an identical system that works fine. I am fairly sure the framegrabber is not faulty, as I have tr
ied replacing that also (to no avail).
Anyone got any suggestions?

What do you mean not detected? Is it not detected in the Windows Device Manager or in MAX? If it is not detected in Device Manager then you should check that computer BIOS and make sure PnP is enabled and PCI Bus Mastering as well. If it is not detected in MAX try hitting F5 (refresh).
What version of the driver do you have? I suggest you have the latest one, 2.5.5.
If Device Manager does recognizes the board you may want to uninstall it from there and then click the refresh button inside Device Manager as well. And see if that recognizes the hardware.

  • PCI-1422 Windows7 32bit Problems

I have a legacy program that I am trying to port from WindowsXP to 32bit version of Windows7.  This program is based on the PCI-1422 frame grabber.
For historical purposes, I have to use NI-IMAQ version 2.5.3, which installs version 2.0.3.17 of NI-MAX
From a clean build of Win7 x32, I can install NI software, and the old application which creates correct camera definition files.
When I add the frame grabber card, Windows device manager is happy... the card is correctly identified and seems to use driver files which match the old WinXP install.
When I look at the card with NI-MAX, the camera correctly appears in the configuration list.  If I highlight Channel 0 device and run 'Diagnostic' all tests seem to pass correctly.  (Again the displayed output matches the results from the same operation on the old WinXP box)
However if I try to 'Snap' or  'Grab' a frame, I get the following error box:  Title = 'Acquisition Error'   and there is NO TEXT in the error description, only a yellow ! warning icon.
(The legacy program performs all controlling functions via two other PCI cards, but halts when trying to grab a frame as well.  The above behavior can be seen with or without these additional PCI cards)
I have tried both installing and executing the EXE files with or without 'Run as Admin'  and/or 'WinXP SP3 compatibility mode'.  In some cases, the available camera list disappears, but nothing I have done has been succesful at grabbing a frame from the camera.
Any suggestions about compatibility and/or why the error box is missing all text?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

    Good questions...
I have been asked to 'upgrade' a commercial system that was developed 10 years ago.  The system works currently... an XP based system with old frame grabber.   I was asked if I could upgrade the PC, because of concerns of PC failure with a 10 yr old box.  We found a new motherboard that supports the necesary 3 PCI slots for frame grabber, and newer CPU of course.
The question remains however, can we migrate to Win7, or...   do we try to install WinXP on the new PC hardware, with the older interface cards.  To add to the difficulties, the original company than produced the software is no longer in business.  Fortunately I have remained in contact with some of the developers that are giving me some support, but they haven't supported the product for years either.
The basic issue remains...  hardware and software that worked on XP, has been migrated. The devices appear in some sense to be detected correctly.  But the critical important issue, grabbing a frame from the camear, fails.  What can be done?

  • Raytheon 2000b camera with PCI-1422

I am trying to use a Raytheon 2000b camera with PCI-1422. I have downloaded the attached doc and icd file from NI.
    1. As far as I now there is no proper NI cable for my camera, but the pinout is described in the doc file. I would like to purchase a cable, and solder a connector on it for my camera. Which cable should I choose, if I need the following pins on the PCI-1422 side: 1-32, 41-46, 49-50, 93-94, 99-100?
    2. The icd file supports image acquisition only, attribute settings via serial line are not contained. I would like to add this feature, but I could not find any description about the icd files. Where can I find a document that would help me?

    My problem is solved now.
But I don't know what is the exact solution.
The camera & cable provider and me tried as below.
    try-1. connecting tm-1320-15 and 1422 with serial-enabled cable
    try-2. changing 'OnBoardClock(20)' to 'OnBoardClock(25)'
With only 'try-1 ', it failed. but additional 'try-2' we could snap and grab the camera image.
And now, I can get images without serial-enabled cable, regardless of OnBoardClock speed.
I think the camera has been initialized with max's parameters(same as icd file) when the serial commnunication had enabled for the first time.
(I'll verify this assumption with new tm-1320-15 later.)
    Thank you.
Tip : If tm-1320-15 and 1422 makes error because of parameter mismatching, reset the tm-1320-15's power.

  • MAX detects PXI-MXI-4, but fails to detect non-NI chassis

MAX detects PXI-MXI-4, but fails to detect non-NI chassis. My system is as follow:
    NI PCI-6552 (NI DAQmx device)
    NI PXI-MXI-4/ PXI-8331 (PXI system)
Elma chassis, with CompactPCI backplane (chassis and cPCI)
When I run MAX, it successfully detects PCI and PXI with the model number listed. However, the chassis is unidentified. Although my chassis is made by Elma, not NI, it has been confirmed that my Elma chassis, as well as the CompactPCI backplane that comes with the chassis, is compatible with the PXI.
When I clicked on "other chassis", the chassis.ini (driver) file is asked. But I've confirmed with Elma that no driver is required for the chassis.
What might be the problem? Thank you very much.
    Manson

I'm having a similar problem, and from reading the above, it's not clear what one is to do if the chassis and link vendors say "there are no driver files, and none are needed" and NI says, "you must have the appropriate files, which are provided by the vendor."  Specifically, I have a Jasper Electronics PXI chassis and a Hartmann StarFabric link (PCI bridge).  My NI devices in this chassis (6071E, 6533) have always worked fine, and MAX displays them correctly under Traditional Devices and under DAQmx Devices.  The PXI chassis shows up as "unidentified" in MAX, but this has never caused any problems before (and I've seen the same benign error with other non-NI PXI chassis).  However, now that I'm using DAQmx, I'm trying to do the following:
        DAQmxConnectTerms("/Dev3/PXI_Trig0", "/Dev3/PFI5", DAQmx_Val_DoNotInvertPolarity);
where Dev3 is a PXI-6533.  When I start my task, I get the error message "Driver cannot complete the route, because the only way to make the route requires a trigger bus line, and no trigger bus has been configured in MAX for this device."  The documentation seems to imply that identifying the chassis will automatically create or recognize the appropriate PXI trigger lines.  Since the vendors don't supply any ini files, I tried faking it out as as PXI-8150 system with a PXI-1000 chassis, using the NI ini files; this resulted in entries for both NI cards appearing under "Chassis 1 (PXI-1000)", e.g.
    PXI5::11::INSTR (PXI-6533)
    PXI5::12::INSTR (PXI-6017E)
although their properties (in the pane to the right of the tree view) show their chassis and slots as "unknown."  When I run my code, I still get the error message about needing to configure a trigger bux in MAX.  Just for grins, I tried the same thing but with RTSI0 instead of PXI_Trig0, and got the same error.  I created an RTSI cable under DAQmx Devices in MAX, and that made no difference.  Help!
    Thanks,
    Larry

  • ATI Radeon HD 5870 failing to detect displays randomly during reboots

    Hello,
I have a Mac Pro 1,1 A1186 computer, MAC OS X 10.6.6, and I just updated the ole 7300 video card to an ATI Radeon HD 5870 I just purchased from the Apple Store last week.
Problem: Mac OS X 10.6.6 keeps losing the display settings during reboots and fails to detect one of the monitors (the Acer X233H) randomly upon reboots. I tried using two Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapters, but when that produced undesirable results I just plugged one of the monitors into the DVI diplay port and used just one of the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapters. Then I tried swapping the monitors around.
I know both monitors and cables that directly connect to the monitors work fine as *they worked on the 7300 adapter*. I'm not using an Apple display, so I'm wondering do I have a bad card or is this common?
I tried reseating the card, completely disconnecting it and reinstalling it. I have both power cables plugged into the card, and both monitors will come up eventually if I keep rebooting my system (if they didn't come up the first time).
Please help... this whole experience is ruining my buzz for purchasing such a kick butt OEM card from Apple. Thank you very much in advanced.
I have 14GB of RAM, 2TB Western Digital (for backup/archival purposes), and an SSD Patriot Torqx 128GB Drive. The Diagnostics state they passed, and everything else works fine except for the display detection.
Here is the setup of the monitors I'm using:
Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 5870
    Type: GPU
    Bus: PCIe
    Slot: Slot-1
    PCIe Lane Width: x16
    VRAM (Total): 1024 MB
    Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
    Device ID: 0x6898
    Revision ID: 0x0000
    ROM Revision: 113-C0780C-194
    EFI Driver Version: 01.00.436
    Displays:
    Acer X223W:
    Resolution: 1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz
    Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
    Mirror: Off
    Online: Yes
    Rotation: Supported
    ACER X233H:
    Resolution: 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz
    Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
    Main Display: Yes
    Mirror: Off
    Online: Yes
    Rotation: Supported
    Display Connector:
    Status: No Display Connected

OK, I took your advise and tried the "active powered" adapter last night. No dice. The monitor detection still doesn't work even after purchasing the $100 adapter for only 2 displays. Connecting one of the monitors to the DVI display in the back and connecting the other display to the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter.
_This is not the solution as the problem still occurs._
I also tried reloading Mac OS X Snow Leopard last night wiping out everything on the entire partition to be extreme thinking that the system could be confused. I know I could've just deleted the configuration file, but hey... what the heck.
After applying the updates I was able to see both displays again, +_however again they got confused_+.
The end result is from what I believe that the card is inferior in the way it doesn't allow Mac OS X to detect displays properly and or a driver update needs to be issued from Apple to address this issue.
After trying multiple things it would appear that there is only 1 work around as suggest from above (put the computer to sleep). However, to properly fix things we shouldn't have to utilize work arounds.
Important facts that lead me to this conclusion are:
    1. Mac OS X 10.6.6 does detect displays properly with the 7300 with no problem.
    2. The monitors and cables work properly with the 7300 card, and other systems. So they are not the issue.
    3. After installing the ATI 5870 card that's when we I experienced the issues that didn't go away no matter what cable I used or where I plugged the monitors.
    a. Thus a $100 cable or a $30 cable worked the same for this issue.
    4. Reinstalling OS X 10.6.6 completely and wiping out everything including the display configuration had no bearing on any of this.
Therefore, it can only be two things by deduction:
    1. The firmware of the card needs a revision to help support multiple displays.
    and/or
    2. The driver for the ATI 5870 needs a revision to correct multiple display support within the Operating System.
However, I can't see paying over $500 for a card and an adapter that doesn't work properly. If there is no hope that Apple or ATI is working on this issue with the ATI 5870 card, I have only one recourse and that is not to support this particular ATI product and take it back. I know I can always just keep putting my computer to sleep, but over $500 for a video card and an adapter that is riddled with bugs is way too much for me.
*I'm taking the card back and reinstalling the 7300 until a proper card can be produced or an update is issued to specifically correct multiple display support.*
*Thank you* everyone for your help, I really appreciate it. *+However, the users of the systems can only do so much without proper support from Apple and/or ATI on this issue.+*

The Lenovo System Update installed the "Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver 8.9.2.1002" right before the Windows Upgrade got broken. So in the Device Manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, I choose Intel ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller, on the Driver Tab, I choose the option "Roll Back Driver" and after rolling back the driver and restarting the OS, now Windows Update is working like a Champ!

  • How can I access the control lines of a PCI-1422 from within C++?

I would like to know how the control lines of a PCI-1422 can be accessed (set) programmatically from within C++ (MS VC++7, Windows XP). A flat panel sensor connected to the PCI-1422 needs the control lines to switch on features like binning which I want to use.
Unfortunately I was unable to identify an appropriate command in the IMAQ documentation. Does anyone have experiences with this?
Thank you very much in advance!

    Kluas,
The control lines are not exposed through any API. The control lines are run by the driver based on the instructions in the camera files. If the cammera file supports the binning functionality of your camera then you should be able to set the attributes such that the board runs the control lines approriately.
    Hope this helps,

    Hi Experts,
We have installed UISKPI01 in SAP NetWeaver Gateway System for Fiori Analytical Apps (KPI modeler is necessary to model the KPI) but while trying to create and Save the Group, we are Getting an error in KPI Modeler as "{"customMessage":"failed to detect the sap language of the current session language","status":500}". Similarly, when we are trying to edit the existing KPI template and assigning the Variants and Evaluations, we are facing the same error as failed to detect the sap language of the current session language","status":500.
    Any idea on above error?
    Thanking you,

    Hello Mahendra,
Check if you have entries in the T002 table of SAP_SSB schema.
If not follow the steps mentioned in the admin guide of SAP Smart business to populate data.
    This should resolve this issue.
Note: My assumption is that, you are accessing the KPI modeler in English Language.
    Thanks,

  • X fails to detect monitor supported resolutions

I have 3 monitors connected to a Radeon HD 7750, using the radeon driver:
Left: NEC MultiSync 90GX², 1280x1024, connected via DisplayPort-to-VGA adaptor
Middle: Samsung SyncMaster BX2335, 1920x1080, connected via DVI
Right: LG Flatron Wide, 1680x1050, connected via HDMI
On every reboot (warm or cold), X fails to detect the NEC monitor's supported resolutions. xrandr will only set it to 1024x768 or less, and it shows "no signal". However if I disconnect the VGA cable, plug it into another monitor (which is broken, but still powers on), and run xrandr again, it lists up to 1280x1024. If I then set the correct modes and layouts, then return the VGA cable to the NEC monitor, it works just fine. Turning the display off via xset doesn't cause any issue either. So on every reboot I have to move the cable to a spare monitor, set up xrandr, then move the cable back.
How can I save this working configuration and force X to apply it on boot even though the monitor for some reason claims to not support it?
I didn't have this issue with Ubuntu, but my setup was a bit different there, so possibly it just didn't manifest.
Here is the Xorg.0.log and journalctl -k from the most recent boot. The get-edid output is also interesting (and contains some control characters which pastebin removed).

The NEC on DVI would be only temporarily to get it's real edid-data .
Once you got that in a file, you can use a special kernel parameter at boot to force use of  the real edid-data for the NEC monitor.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … s_and_EDID describes how it could be done.
Note that configuring this is tricky.

I though of maybe running the product config wizard but it get an error saying "failed to detect if this server is joined to a server farm. Possible reasons for this failure could be that you no longer have the appropriate permissions to the server
farm, the database server hosting the server farm is in responsive, the configuration database is inaccessible or this server has been removed from the server farm"
this is what the logs it tell you to look in says:

That is another classic symptom of a WD hard drive being jumpered as either a master or a slave when there is no other drive on the cable with it.  If the drive is the only drive on the cable, then remove the jumper from the drive.

  • Xw6400 fails to detect SSD

    Hello
I fitted a Samsung SSD to my xw6400, after updating the BIOS and applying the BIOS settings outlined elsewhere. I never did manage to get AHCI Mode actuivated, even after doing a complete reinstall of Windows 8 and 8.1, but the performance boost is quite good enough without it.
My concern is that sometimes when I restart the machine from Windows, it will fail to detect the SSD, which is the system drive. It doesn't happen often and it's not a big deal anyway, since, if I switch off and on again, it does always discover it at power-on. This may prove to be a problem, though, if I'm away from home and need to access the machine remotely. Of course, I could avoid it by switching off Windows automatic updates before I leave home, but the problem is being old, so I will probably forget.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can remedy this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi:
If you are using a SATA III SSD, this may be the problem...

I had the same thing happen to me on my dc7800 CMT when I installed a SATA III WD mechanical hard drive.
When I put the HP 1 TB Seagate hard drive from my HP 8200 Elite into the dc7800, it worked just fine as did the WD SATA III drive in my 8200 Elite.
