Failure at step5 of clusterware configuration assistant
Hi all,
I'm about to install RAC 10g R2 on Win 2003. I've used iSCSI technique in order to share a storage. I've passed every sections but VIP at cluvfy. I can add my 2 nodes during installation process. But at Clusterware Configuration Assistant at "step5: Starting up CRS stack on all nodes" the process is failed with this message:
n1 service OracleCSService is in improper PENDING state, err(0)
n2 service OracleCSService is in improper PENDING state, err(997)
Please do let me know if anybody have solution for this.
Thanks,
Iman
Did you do the installation with terminal services?
before you run the clusterware installation have you done
c:\diskpart
automount enable
Cheers

Oracle Clusterware Configuration Assistant fails
I am installing clusterware 11.1.0.6 and the runcluvfy commands all came back as passed, except for the VIP, which the documentation says to ignore. The whole install goes to 100%, then it runs the configuration assistants.
It falls over on the first of these: Oracle Configuration Assistant. If I retry it, the same addition is placed in the logfile, as below:

OUI-25031 Cluster Configuration Assistant Fails Windows 2003 server RAC
Hi All
I am installing RAC on Windows 2003 Server X64, Dell PowerEdge 2950 Servers with iSCSI Storage.
I have 3 Network cards on each node which are configured like this
# Public

10.2.0.9 USTISDB-2.USTIS.Brgpoint.com USTISDB-2

#iSCSI Storage

Everything Pings everything.
When I start the installation , it installs clusterware and completes the remote operations but fails at cluster configuration window.
After checking the logs I found the list of failed commands and it says

and then I checked E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\crs\cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands and i says

Please suggest me what to do and how to rectify. Can we work with forms without this component. I am getting the same component failure when I install 9IAS option on infrastructure.
With best regards and Thanks
Varma.Hi,
Thank you for the information. I installed 3 times but still the same problem persists. Apache is working fine. Hosts file also configured with the same system IP. Is this component important for executing 9i forms and reports. Is there any way to install this component alone.
Can u suggest any good document about installation and configuration of Oracle 9i application for a layman in Oracle 9iAS. if you have any documents can u send them to [email protected]
Waiting for your replay....
With best regards

Oracle Net Configuration Assistant Install Failure
I'm installing 11G R2 on Fedora 12.
The Installation got to 95% and displayed the following error
[INS-20802] Oracle Net Configuration Assistant Failed
Naturally it says to have a look at the InstallActions log which then says to check the trace log. The last 100 or so lines from the trace log is below, can anyone assist as to where I can start to troubleshoot this problem?

What Linux versions are supported by Oracle?Oracle did a very very strange thing. They put that kind of information into something called 'Documentation', and generally made that available at http://docs.oracle.com (or searchable at http://tahiti.oracle.com)
In fact, they put that specific information into a document called "Oracle® Database Installation Guide" into a chapter with the unnatural title of "Oracle Database Preinstallation Requirements" at a section called "Operating System Requirements" which you can find at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e10840/pre_install.htm#CHDFFBIF

Where do I obtain OEL?That's a tough one. I'll give you some alternatives:
- http://linux.oracle.com which provides a 'Download' link.
- http://download.oracle.com and search for Linux which provides a link.
- http://edelivery.oracle.com (the official supported download location for ALL Oracle s/w) and follow the 'Linux' link
- http://oss.oracle.com (especially to find Yum and other related things)
Out of desperation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oracle_Enterprise_Linux

OID Configuration Assistant failure on 2000 Server
Hello,
Has anyone experienced problems with the OID Configuration Assistant step during iAS10g install on a Windows 2000 Server? The same steps that work fine on a 2kWS fail on this machine.

javax.naming.CommunicationException: <HOSTNAME>:389 [Root exception is java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect]
For some strange reason the OID cannot start up (Cannot connect to database error if I try to start it manually). I have no problems connecting to the DB using SQL plus and the tnsnames.ora from the infra home. Getting desperate...
Thankful for assistance,
- NikSo the OIDCA couldn't see that the DB was running?
Did you install OID on a different server than the
DB? I am having the "OID could not be started",
error and can't seem figure it out. No, the DB wasn't running at all.
There was something else fish about the server configuration. I tried doing another clean install on another machine and it worked fine so this is not a general thing with 2000 server. I am still trying to compare all network settings etc. that might have been different between the two machines. -
Portal Installation Failure at OC4J Instance Configuration Assistant
Portal Pals,
Portal install fails when the install procedure is at the "OC4J Instance Configuration Assistant" step. There is a message stating that "SMI Saving Changes", but it never completes to go to the next step. After waiting I finally terminate the process and retry iit, the results are always the same. Note, the Infrastructure is running fine. I have tried installing Portal on a separate host and the same thing happens.
I am using Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) on a Windows 2003 Server with 3GB Memory.
The ipm.log in the both the Infrastructure and Portal homes have similar errors, see below for an abbreviated listing.
I have read all similar posts and searched Metalink as well. I could sure use some help as do not know what else to do, except go back to a previous release which installed fine.
Thanks,
Bill Gfroehrer...

I done that as well many times with the same result.
Note, when installing the Infrastructure it also failed in a similar way, but as you say using "retry" did work in that instance.
I'm missing something (besides my mind), and will keep trying. If anyone has any clues please let me know.

Configuration assistant "OC4J Instance Configuration Assistant" failed
Does anyone have any ideas as to why I'm recieving this error? This is an RDBMS related forum, so this thread will not have too much echo here, I suggest you to post it at the Fusion Middleware / OC4J J2EE forum.
Any way, as a first approach, by following the requirements stated at the installation manual you should be able to install the OC4J instance without tampering with this specific variables.
As a good advice, specify the OS you are trying to install to and the product versions.
Why do you mention the DISPLAY environment and then you post Windows paths? -
Failure of "agent configuration assistant" during 10.2 install on Win2003
I am doing a full install of 10.2 EM Grid with new database on Windows 2003. The install is successful until the last step, the "agent configuration assistant"
The GUI points me to the ConfigToolsFailedCommands file but it has only this as the entry:
"oracle.sysman.emcp.agent.AgentPlugIn"
Any ideas?

Edited by: A. Anwar on Oct 17, 2012 2:24 AMHi,
best would be to take the actual version of Oracle (11gR2), which fixes a lot of bugs (also in installation), than to analyze problems based on old versions.
Even if you need older databases (10.2, which I don't hope since support is ending soon), you should at least think about taking the newest version for Oracle Clusterware (Grid infrastructure), .

Configuration assistant "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant" failed
The "E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.-------------------No Srini,
I opted to create a starter database as part of the installation.
The error occurs "during installation" while trying to do the database configurations.
(I did try once without installing and configuring the Loopback adapter (With and without plugging into the network).
Later I read some of the problems with DHCP and installed/configured the Loopback adapter.
Then tried Installing Oracle 11gR2 (With and without plugging into the network)
But end up getting stuck at the same Net Configuration Assistant failure).
Any advise ?
By the way, thanks for the support.
