Failure to plot periodic functions with Grapher on Lion

Hi every one.
I am using Grapher to plot a periodic function, let say, f(x)=x^2, and y=f(x%2).
It worked perfectly on Snow Leopard, but just don't work on Lion.
On Lion, it only plots y=x^2, without the x%2, so the result is still the original function, not repeating in every period. It just ignored the x%2.
Does any one have the same problem?

Thanks for the information, I tried using t as a variable of the f function and it worked fine. But I still think
this is a bug. The reason is that if it's not a bug, then why doesn't it support it's own periodic function example?
And it's not reasonable to have a function of t and then using x as another variable to describe it's period i.e. f(x%2). So I think this is a bug and apple should do something about it.

  • My Magic Trackpad lost functionality with my iMac (Lion)

    Hi--
    I have been using a Magic Trackpad with my iMac (Lion 10.7.5) for over a year. This morning I find that I've lost several functions, including the double-tap + drag to select text, and now the three-finger swipe registers the same as the two-finger swipe. I know the problem is the iMac and not the trackpad itself; I tried unpairing the trackpad with the iMac and pairing it with a Mini (same OS), and all of the functions are working when paired with the Mini.
    Having looked for others with similar issues, I've tried the steps of zapping the PRAM, deselecting/selecting the trackpad preferences, and looking for plist preference files that look like they are trackpad related (but didn't recognize any--am I looking in the wrong place?).
    FWIW I was having problems with Time Machine just a week or two ago and performed a system software reinstall from Recovery Mode, which fixed the Time Machine issues. But I believe the trackpad was working fine until this morning--at least the click-and-drag selection b/c I use that function daily.

    Okay, so I think I've figured out most of this. Many thanks to jefflogullo, whose post I found my answer on. Resetting everything on Universal Access solved most of my issues with double-tapping. Why on earth did they move it out of trackpad settings?

  • Plot showing problem with graph

    Hi everybody!
    Now I've come to dead end with my vi. I don't know why my vi doesn't show the trend line anymore. The previous version I did show the line, but now I've tried many things but the line wouldn't show up.
    The idea is that graph shows max, mean and min values as a trendline by pressing a save button. And a x value is generated by a same button and it demonstrates distance between saving points.
    The attached Vi illustrates my latest attempt.

  • I would like to plot two lines with an xy graph in realtime

    I understand how to plot in real time with an xy graph appending to an array, but I would like to simply put a line so I can see when my first plot crosses a certain value on the y-axis, say at like y=30. So I would like to know how it is you can plot two lines in real time. I'll put in my vi so you can take a look at what I have so far. On my vi the array is shortened to contain only 5 values so as not to take up memory.

  • How to graph sin and cos function on grapher?

    Hello,
    I am needing to graph this function on grapher, but can't (obviously, it's without the questinon mark). 
    All I get is this and no graph. :
    Can anybody tell me how to get the actual sin wave on the graph?

    Here's how to animate a point along a graph. In this screenshot, we have the first function show the expected sine curve. The second function is a pair of values, defining x and y each as functions of "n" and then plotting the pair. Since x and y in this definition takes on one value at a time (and no range), you get a point. To animate the graph, you define "n" as a separate function (create a new function, delete the "y=" and replace with "n="). To make this a smooth evaluation of all points, click "n" to give it a value, and then press Option-Command-A to invoke "animation". You can then click the icon with checkmarks and two lines (to the far right seen here), and set the range for "n" along with subdivisions, or continuous values. You can then drag the slider to change the value for n, enter a specific value in the value box, or click the play button to animate back and forth.
    Note that in this screen shot, to in part answer the original poster's question, I've defined "f(x)" as the function "sin(x)" and then to display the function, since grapher plots y as a function of x, I've set y=f(x) so this behavior can be drawn. Its redundant, but allows for the management of functions in some ways that might be useful. For instance, you could do a set of functions such as the following:
    f(x)=x
    g(x)=x^2
    h(x)=x^3
    ...and then plot them all with y={f(x),g(x),h(x)}.
    In this instance, since the graphs are all increased powers of x, you can follow this trend by plotting over a set of values:
    set={1,2,3,4,5}
    f(x)=x^set
    This will plot x^1, x^2, x^3, x^4, x^5, etc...and you can also throw an "n" value in the set, then animate it, so some of the functions remain static while others are animated by the value of "n".
    ....the possibilities are vast.

  • Report Engine crashing on Solaris when report with graph is given.

    We are using following environment:
    Solaris 8
    Oracle 9i Report Sevices.
    When we try to execute reports having graphs then the report engine crashes with the following exception:
    REP-0177: Error while running in remote server
    REP-56048: Engine rwEng-0 crashed
    The complete crash log is also appendend in the end of this mail.
    When I remove the graph from the rdf then reports get exectued fine without any crash. The same rdg with graph works fine on windows NT.
    If somebody can help on this, it will be great.

    Please try the following
    * Modify $ORACLE_HOME/bin/reports.sh, replace "classic"
    with "server" in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH for the JVM
    * Modify $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rwengine.sh, just before the exec

    Have you checked the user that is used to connect from J2EE back to ABAP?
    I had a similar problem, went into the Visual Administrator and found the incorrect password (or possibly outdated password) was being used to communicate back to ABAP, and updating that sorted out my problem.

  • HP Photosmart 8150 or 8050 fully functional with Windows 7?

    I just purchased a used 8150 Photosmart printer due to failure of feeder mechanism on another older Photosmart printer. Lost my PC, monitor and scanner to a lightning strike the following day.  A computer technician tells me my 8150 can't print photos at all from my new PC with Windows 7 as I can no longer download the necessary Photosmart Essential software from HP.  Is this correct or is it still fully functional?  
    On the other hand, would it be easier to buy a newer Photosmart printer?  Is an 8050 Photosmart fully functional with Windows 7?  It looks to have a driver download and so forth, but I want to make sure before I go out and buy yet another printer that isn't fully functional.  I loved the Photosmart Essential software that came with the 8150 and 8050, and would like to continue printing photos using similar software.

    It's correct in one way: Photosmart Essential software has been replaced with a new software called HP Proto creations. You can download from the following link:

    And Yes, no more driver support for the old 8150 from the Vista ages or at least 5 years now. Buying new printer would be the way to go if you wish to get better photo prints otherwise just waisting inks (very expensive) and papers.

               I found a considerable solution to overcome that error.
               Build all the array data at first and then generate digtal
    waveform in single instance.
               ie., With number of numerical array data, build a 2D array of
    numerical data and make a transpose and then generate a waveform.
               It generates number of digital waveform equal to that of the
    column size of 2D Array.
               Do not build generated digital waveforms. This creates an error
    while using multi plot cursor--> watch--> All plots.
               I have attached the modified, bug removed Vi with this message for
    your reference.

  • How to plot an ellipse with the equation in Robert H. Bishop's book

    Hi,
    I've been trying to plot the ellipse with
    the equation on Page 232, Q E7.3 of Dr. Robert H. Bishop's book.
    I am currently stuck as I am unable to find a solution for this. Below is the equation which is required to 
    be used.
    r^2= A^2*B^2/(A^2*sin^2(ф)+B^2cos^2(ф))
    inputs are A, B and r with 0 <= ф <= 2*pi

    You have to use a XY graph. and plot the ellipse as a series of points describing x, and y positions. Equal to point P in the attachment. Hint Google and Wikipedia is your friends  . But feel free to post any question regarding Labview code for your school assignment

  • How do I determine the number of plots on a waveform graph?

    How do I determine the number of plots that have previously been plotted on a waveform graph? I am loading dynamic data from a file. If I convert to an array and size it and there is only one plot, I get the number of data points and I don't know how to tell the difference.

    Usually by reading the graph terminal or a local of it and determining the first or second dimension (not sure which at the moment) size of the resulting 2 dimensional array. If it is a 1 dimensional array you have either only one plot or an array of clusters each representing one plot. But as these data types are determined by compile time, there shouldn't be a problem with this causing ambiguity.

    I have a column in BMM which calculates the Year-To-Date Sales. This function uses the ToDate function to caculate the YTD.
    I need to develop another formula column which shows the last-year's YTD.
    I develop this formula in BMM by AGO on the YTD column which already uses a ToDate function.
    In BI Answers when selecting this column, results in the below message:

    To reply to my own question. It appears I got it working, that is, the error message problem is solved, but I still have questions on how to use these functions.
    To get it to work, I added the primary key D_TIJD.TIJDKEY at the level of the lowest grain in my dimension (level tab).
    What I still wonder is how to make it select the right values. I have the following hierarchy: bookyear - bookperiod - week. A bookperiod contains 4 or 5 weeks (4,4,5 in a quarter), so 12 periods in one year. I defined a measure at period level and another at that level with the ago function, that should return the figures for that same period of the year before. My first question is, whether to go back 12 periods or 52 weeks (which is the lowest grain in my dimension)?
    The second question is how to use a combination of TODATE and AGO so that if I calculate the current period (of which only 2 weeks are passed), I also only want to include the same two weeks for that period one year ago in order to make a correct comparison. How do I do that???

    "right-click" is your friend!
    - Right-click the Y axis and select "duplicate axis" to create an additional Y axis. Now right-click that new axis and select "swap side" for your convenience...

  • Performance problem with graphs on Tabs (LV7.1)

    I have huge performance problems in a subsystem using tab controls with graphs on top. The whole thing worked nice, until I record a measurement (abou 10k of double as data displayed on the graph). The win task manager indicates above 50% on both CPUs, the app hangs (or lags), my queues generate timeout messages...
    The graph is located in one of the pages of a tab control. As well are several clusters of config data for the measurement.
    As I said, the problems started, when I put the data of that size on the graph indicator.
    The clusters are some nested typ defs, but it worked with them before, no huge arrays involved. All are bundled in a huge cluster (less than 1 k if saved as xml).
    So I wonder, if the clusters and/or the graphs are the problem PLUS is that problem resolved in current LV-Versions (hoping to get the faster car & and I love the current GUI with tabs)?
    Sorry, can't post the code, but if none of you knows that kind of problems and I can't solve it on my on in an hour or so, I can make some imitation code.

    How many graphs are you referring to?
    Are they all on your User Interface and running in the UI thread?
    You might want to try putting your graphs in their own threads i.e., called dynamically or otherwise in a structure that allows LabVIEW to put them in their own thread. I've gotten good performance out of a PXI-8106 controller by calling a graph template dynamically. That's four graphs showing at once, 12 plots per graph, 10000 XY value pairs per plot. Each graph was setup to get its data every 50-200ms.
    How much data you can plot with decent performance also depends on the hardware you're using, i.e., CPU speed, RAM size, video capability, etc. It can also depend on how efficiently you've coded your application. Are you initializing your data arrays and using "Replace Subset" or are you using the less efficient "Build Array" for example?
