Favicon.ico not found
I'm getting this info message in console logs.
"org.apache.sling.engine.impl.SlingRequestProcessorImpl service: Resource /comp-info/cs/favicon.ico not found"
In code having the link as <link rel="icon" href="../../../favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon"/>. The favicon.ico image is present in the designs folder that is referred in href. Any help??
Regards,
Joshua
Can you try accessing the favicon.ico by typing the URL in the address bar of the browser, the reason I am asking you to do this is to isolate the issue. Few things to observe for:
- when you access favicon.ico by typing the URL in browser, check are you getting the INFO message
- if you are not getting the INFO message while you do above, it means it is from some other location URL is causing this INFO message?
- check the access.log, check the URLs

Safari stops loading many pages: ../favicon.ico not found
Recently Safari doesn't complete the loading of many pages.
The status bar reads for example ... completed 34 of 35 items.
In some cases the page appears.
When I click a sub-topic on the page (i.e. in a forum) the link fails to load.
If I then click the stop/reload the selected link shows up, but fails to show the pictures (i.e. also incomplete)
In the activity window of Safari
http://www.......at/favicon.ico is listed as not found
Could there be a connection??
With Firefox these pages open without a problem.
My MacBookPro loads them without a problem using Safari over the same network.
I would appreciate your help.

Dual 2.3 GHz Power PC G5 2GB DDR SDRAM Mac OS X (10.4.8) Airport Express to router to ADSL modemHello Starman!
Good news: Thank-you for the quick reply
Bad news: it didn't help.
I have tried most of the recommended tricks - trashing:
com.apple.Safari.plist and
com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
I have reinstalled Safari through the MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.8PPC.
I have tried both the Universal and the PPC version.
At the moment I am using the Universal 2.0.4 version.
There is no difference. The problems remain the same.
Any other suggestion?
Thanks,
TOM from Innsbruck

Favicon.ico image does not display consistently for our application,
Hi,
We have configured a favicon.ico for our application as below code snippet and referring to the favicon.ico image correctly. The icon file is available in our war file post deployment. The problem is some times it displays correctly and sometimes it does not display correctly.
<af:outputText value="<link rel='SHORTCUT ICON' href='#{facesContext.externalContext.requestContextPath}/images/favicon.ico'/>" id="favicon" escape="false"/>
Can anyone point to any issue related to browser caching or application server caching and any possible fix to this intermittent behavior.
regards,
Chandra.Browser caching might be a problem, but we can't help as it is a browser issue. All I can say is to clear the browser cache and see if the problem can be reproduced. If yes it doesn't look like a browser problem. Then you have to check if you are connection via proxy which might cache images too. Ask your network admin for help then.
Do you see this problem only with one browser? Have you check other browsers?

Question: why is sso rewriting the url from .../pls/apex/f?p=.. to .../plsapex/f?p=?
Can anyone help?
Thanks.
Abstract: APEX 3.1.2.00.02 install with sso config, error "requested url ../plsapex/f .. was not found"
Situation:
Upgraded from Apex 3.0.0.00.20 to Apex Application Express 3.1.2.00.02
I get to my apex_admin and apex builder pages with url: [http://machinename:port/pls/apex] or
[http://machinename:port/pls/apex_admin]
When I try to access our application using no authentication scheme everything is fine.
But when I switch to sso authentication, somehow strangely the url [http://machinename:port/pls/apex/f?p=application_number]
is rewritten to sso [http://machinename:port/plsapex/f?p=application_number].

The requested URL not found on this server
Hi
I was trying to export the output of a report to Excel spreadsheet using the technique mentioned in the below link
http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=18326:54:4064128727007824::::P54_ID:1962
and got a "requested URL pls/apex/x.excel_xml was not found in this server" error message. I have successfully created the procedure and it exists under the workspace schema with the correct permissions.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.Hi Scott,
Thanks for looking into this. I am using Oracle-Application-Server-10g/10.1.2.0.2 , Application Express Release 2.2 and Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0.
My application and the oracle procedure I am trying to call (excel_xml) exists in the same workspace "testworkspace" . I ran the grant requst as "grant execute on excel_xml to public".
But still I get the URL not found error message.

What is this? /favicon.ico HTTP/1.1
I have deployed my JSC project in Sun Application Server, and I see the following server log time to time(many times a day)
/favicon.ico HTTP/1.1" 404 973
What is it?
Thank you very much.It is a request for an icon image that IE uses to bookmarks and Firefox displays next to the page address in the toolbar. It is returning a 404 (not found) because you do not have one on your site.

File not found error for /lib/masks.js
Hi Everyone,
We keep getting a file not found (404) error for
/lib/masks.js and favicon.ico. I did a complete search on our site
and could not find reference to them anywhere, does anyone know
what these files are and why we would be linked to them.
Kind RegardsHi Dan,
If you had searched you would have found out how to make this work.
Search on "crdb_adoplus.dll" or "useLegacy" and you'll find the answer. As well as setting your framework to full and not the client.

New favicon will not display in Firefox, but does display in Safari
I am working on a new website and uploaded the favicon.ico into the root folder (Go Daddy). The favicon appears when I use Safari, not does not appear in Firefox... I have a mac OSX version 10.5 I have cleared the history and cache too. Any thoughts?
I have this problem too. I've just loaded my favicon.ico into my root folder and it shows next to the site url in latest Safari 5.0.5, but not in Firefox 3.6.17 - neither next to the site url nor on the page name tab.
Firefox also does not show the favicon in the Tools > Page Info > Media tab, although this does list just three of the many jpgs and pngs within its folders. I've just added the favicon.ico to the folder where it does see a jpg and png, but no joy, still not displayed. See attached png.
How do I overcome this problem? Is there a plugin that resolves this issue? It would be nice to have some color in the page name tabs. Many sites, such as this one, do have their favicons displayed by Firefox... -
Favicon will not display and heads different
http://www.dumasar.net/
I have installed a favicon in the template upon which most, if not all of the pages on this site are based. The favicon displays fine on my local machine, but does not in the uploaded pages. I looked at the head of the template and the head of what is uploaded and they are different, despite repeated uploads. The site is on a yahoo server for what ever difference that may make.
Here is the code for the template followed by the code on the uploaded pages:

What can I do?
Thanks in advance,
JoeHi Joe,
the first is this: <link rel="shortcut icon" href="images/dicon.ico">.
I for my part use these advices, one of this code lines you should insert between the <head> </head> tags on your home or index.html page:
<link rel="icon" href="pictures/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /> (I use it) Upload the favicon.ico file to your server's root directory.
If you wish to use an animated icon too, upload the animated_favicon1.gif as above and add this code line:
<link rel="icon" href="animated_favicon1.gif" type="image/gif">
... AND! Our browsers must be "convinced" first to show favicon, so it might be that you have to do this too:
- Clear ALL your caches!
- Check with another browser, the new icon will be there (mostly at once).
- If set, delete the bookmark to the page or re-create the bookmark.
- Quit browser
- Empty the Temp Internet Files Internet Options
- Clear History
- Delete everything in general, where the browser remembers visited sites.
- Restart
- Clear Site visit
- Clear Bookmark
After all these steps favicon should work as you like it.

"Application Not Found" CS4 installation error
Problem: "Application Not Found" CS4 installation error
Some Adobe Creative Suite CS4 Production Premium distribution disks issue an "Application not found" error while loading Disk 2 due to an error in the Autorun.inf file.
Does your Autorun.inf for Disk 2, 3, or 4 contain
[autorun]
open=Autoplay.exe -auto
icon=\csppdvd.ico
Autorun.inf should instead only say
[autorun]
icon=\csppdvd.ico
There should not be the line
open=Autoplay.exe auto
Only Disk 1 should have this line.
On Disk 1, Adobe has a file called Autoplay.exe which starts the installation.
"open=Autoplay.exe auto" runs the Autoplay application.
Autoplay.exe is not on Disk 2, 3, or 4 so having the open line generates the error.
Since you cannot edit the DVD, the trick is to turn off autorun so Windows doesn't run Autorun.inf upon loading Disk 2. Look at the Wikipedia description of "Autorun" for details. Wikipedia describes how to disable Autorun using
Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc
You will need to do this for XP. Vista has a Control Panel which allows you to "Take no action" for "Software and games". If this does not work, use gpedit.msc instead. You will know Autorun is off if upon inserting Disk 1, no installation window appears.
Wikipedia notes that "AutoPlay is the name of a different feature in Microsoft Windows" not to be confused with Autorun starting the Autorun.inf file.
Now that Autorun is off, manually double click Autoplay.exe on Disk 1 to start the installation. Disk 2 should now load properly.
By the way, it appears you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. Some Adobe Creative Suite CS3 Production Premium distribution disks had the same problem. Obviously, Adobe did not learn from their past mistake.
You may want to call Adobe to obtain replacement disks which don't have this error.

Can you look at the DVDs and send me the numbers you find on the inner edge? Also, any numbers on the outer DVD sleeves. This can help us to identify which sets of media are affected and possibly resolve it, or at least more specifically target solution information.

Hi,
I wanna show a favicon in Internet Explorer but it's not easy.
I just deploy a 'favicon.ico' file in Document Root of Web Server.
It works well with other browsers , for example, Mozilla Firefox or Netscape Navigator.
But only MS Internet Explorer can't show the favicon.
How can I solve this problem?
Plz help me.
Thanks,In IE, favicon will not be shown in the title bar or the addressbar as in other browsers. As its name indicates it is "Favorites Icon". If we add the web page to the favorites (ie Bookmark) then this icon will be used.
In IE,
1. Open the web page,
2. Select Favorites --> Add to Favorites
3. Now, You could see the Favicon in the Favorites menu.
May be in the later versions of IE, it may use the favicon to show up in title bar or address bar similar to other browsers... -
How do I get my favicon.ico to show in my site with firefox browser?
I uploaded my favicon.ico to the root directory, it shows in Chrome, but not in firefox. I've cleared the cache, still not appearing, yet when I type mydomain.com/favicon.ico it appears in firefox.
The problem is usually that the file size is too large or there are multiple images (layers) in the file or it is an unsupported format.<br />
I can't tell more about without inspecting the favicon. -
