Faxing questions

I just bought an external modem so I can set up faxing. I even called applecare but am unable to send or receive faxes. Any ideas?

I have one phone line with 2 numbers provided by Bell South.
I am able to send faxes.
When I tell someone to fax me, I've set up my rings to 10 rings so ( I hope it won't interfere with voice mail) and then have to go to the tool bar and say answer now. When it answers, will the fax come over my printer? It is an epson 2400.
I have spoken to apple care and I'm getting bounced around between BellSouth and Applecare.
Can you help in my situation or do I have to get a separate line for the fax?

  • Out-going Fax Question

Hello.  I'm new to the HP Forum, so please take it easy on me!  I have an Officejet 6700 Premium, and have a fax question.  When I fax a document from my business, the recipient gets the fax, but at top left corner it has (HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Series).  For business professionalism, I would like that removed from my faxes sent.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thank You.

    On your printer,
    1. Press arrow to the right until you see SETUP
    2. Choose FAX SETUP
    3. Choose BASIC FAX SETUP
    4. Choose FAX HEADER
It may have the Officjet 6700 premium in the spot, delete it out.

How do you erase the fax log?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

That can be found in the manual on page 82 chapter 6.  It shows how to clear the fax log via the device control panel and Hoe to clear it via the embedded web server. Go to Setup>> move arrow  to Tools, press OK>> press arrow key to move down to “Clear Fax Log” and then press OK.  Here is a link to the Manual if you want to check it out. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01669504.pdf

  • HP5610v All in One Fax Question

I've set up my HP 5610V all in one printer to receive the faxes via my computer.  Recently when I'm getting a fax it will say receiving then a message will come up saying there was an error and it stops.  On the rare occasion I would get a fax it won't let me open and read it.  Another error says I don't have a fax viewer but I do.  I've run all the diagnostic tests and they show no problem.
Any idea s how to fix?
    Thanks

  • Fax Question-input much appreciated

    Hello all,
I use my home phone line to connect to internet via DSL. Can I still fax documents using the same line and Apple's fax software?? I thought of connecting a phone cable to the internal modem port of my G5 to do the task but wasn't sure if it is possible
Also, I am thinking of buying an All in one, is "faxing" capability on the all-in-one necessary to do this, or is scanning feature of the printer sufficient for faxing using Tiger?
Lastly, can anyone recommend a great all-in-one (price not a factor)
    thanks alot
    Rez

If you have DSL / ADSL / ?DSL / or whichever version of broadband over the telephone line, it is recommended that you have a filter on every phone jack in your house. Those filters block out a part of the signal to create a "reserved" section of bandwith for the DSL modem, so it can enjoy troublefree communication with the mothership.
Even, without filter, you can fax. I think I did this once without ill effects before every jack had a filter. But it is not recommended.
You should not place a filter on the line to your DSL router only on the branches with a phone, pc modem, etc.
So if you have a room / office with one phone jack.
    You add a line splitter.
Jack 1 = direct phone wire connection to the DSL router (no filter).
Jack 2 = plug in the filter, then connect through with a phone cable to the pc modem or multifunction device.
By the way, the above is my setup and it works like a charm. No faxing issues. (other then the glitches with the OS X fax software / module 's autocomplete / autofill phone # part ).
If you have two phone jacks. It is the same. You plug a filter on the line that you connect the device on.
Anything on screen you can print. The only chance is that since 10.4 faxing is now hidden under the PDF button. Go figure. As Fax as PDF.
I have both a multifunction device & stand alone scanner. Once I have the document area previewed on my computer screen; have a print button, I can click that, and go Fax as PDF.
To scan multiple pages right now I still have to resort to scanning them as individual images first, combine them in a word or other document and then fax that document. I think it's a limitation of my HP Scanner software, where they don't allow me to scan multiple pages into one document, or at least I've overlooked that function if it is there. I used to be able to scan & combine documents fine way back (HP Scanner in Windows, I'm an OS X 10.0 switcher)

  • Stupid faxing question

Wife is trying to send out a fax via
OS X. The "from" on cover page keeps
coming up as being from "System administrator".
Any simple way to change this to being from her ?
At work and will have to explain how to do
this over the phone.. so I'm hoping this is an easy
    fix..
    Thanks...

It is good to have accounts for each user. I believe that the information used when faxing comes from designating a card for that user in Address Book, however. Each user should fill out a card with his or her information, and choose This Is My Card from the Card menu. There can be only one My Card per account.
Non-administrator accounts are sometimes adequate, but some software will not work properly from them.

  • Basic Fax Question

When entering a long distance fax number, where do I place the "1" that I need for one plus dialing? Do I place it in front of the fax number or do I place it in the space that asks for a prefix? Also, does it matter if I place "-" in the fax number or should I just enter it a a string of digits with no spacing or punctuation?
Also, what does a message "waiting for modem to become available" mean? I have a cable internet connection so I don't use the phone modem for that purpose. Thanks.
    Regards,
    Steve M.

It seems that I can send one fax and then if I try to send another, I get the message "waiting for modem to become available." Is there the need to somehow reset the modem or release it from the first job?
    Thanks,
    Steve M.

  • How to print fax call log on hp laserjet pro mfp m375

There should be a way to print fax call log on hp laserjet pro mfp m375.  Not sure whether to go in "tools", "fax", "settings" or what!  Can somebody please give me instructions ASAP.  Does anybody else find HP's tech support - if your warranty runs out - to be terribly POOR.  I've been trying to get an answer to this question for about an hour which I think HP should at least answer simple questions in hopes that the customer will want to continue buying HP products of which they will purchase warranty plans.  So my next question is > are we supposed to keep a tech support plan on a product for as long as it's in service - 5 years or longer???  The 1st question is VERY important to me if someone would please answer.  The 2nd comment/question is more directed to HP!!!  :-)  Thank you very much!
NEVERMIND!!!  I finally found the answer to my fax question and got it to print.  As for how long HP expects a customer to pay for warranty plans and why they don't answer SIMPLE questions without them, please answer if you are a representative of HP b/c I'm really disheartened with your service.  Thank you.

    Hi,

  • My F4280 printer is not working. It will not pick up the paper. I cleaned all the rollers

I have checked for a paper jam or piece.  All is clear.  I cleaned the rollers front and back as instructed, still not working.  Now a skinny plastic piece fell out (like the inside of a pen) and I have no idea where that came from.  Can anyone help with this situation?

Yes that is an older printer. Do you have the user manual? Should be on the software disc. If not go here to get the user manual:

  • Question on SAP Fax Connector

    Here's the query:
    Background:
SAP R/3 application will produce a few type of reports/document (Order Confirmation/Payment Remittances etc) These reports/documents then have to be faxed or email depending on the user preference. The process that generates these reports is typically a batch process. The status of the fax (Success/Failure/Waiting) has to be updated back in SAP.
    Questions:
In the above scenario - how to implement the fax part?
Is a 'SAP Fax Connector' needed for this?
or in other words - Can this be achieved without a Fax Connector?
If yes, what are the advantages/disadvantages of both methods.

    Hi Sanjana,
Its better not to touch the standard sap generated program for the query, better choice would be copy the program to Z program and then make the changes what ever you require.
Then create the tcode for that zreport and execute it and you can transport it to other environments.
you can directly give the tcode to the process folks.

  • Question about faxing

This is probably a stupid question but, can I plug my landline into my modem/ router and send faxes(files) using Windows Fax and Scan without the use of an external fax machine? I thought of this idea since I'm using a landline connected to a modem/ router it would still work since a landline would still be needed for an external fax machine to send the information to the receiving fax machine.
Also, I'm not sure if this thread (http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Home-Phone-Landline-or-Digital/Verizon-Fax-Service/m-p/231013#M3739) answers my question or not. So if you would like to give it a look at you're more than welcome.

To fax you would hook the phone line up to a fax machine but it has to be a regular old phone line not digital like time warner and such from what I understand.  Now if you have a regular old dial up on your computer hooked to a phone line you can use windows fax and scan I believe that way because I know my friend used to do it when she was on dial up internet ages ago.  You just need to scan the document in or in her case she would just take a photo of it  as she had no scanner and put it in the computer to fax and send.
We dropped our home line a few years ago so can't use the fax machine anymore but to get around that I use an online fax site for free, fax zero.  There are paid sites that will give you a number so you can send and receive.  What happens is you are just sending like emailing only it will go to the fax machine number and when they fax you back it will come in to the fax program for viewing like you would get an attachment in email.  I tried efax free trial and it was very nice but for the few I have to send every year found it was not worth the cost for us to subscribe to anything.
Also found an article for windows fax and scan and if you computer is equipped with a fax modem then you can do it, think that is still just regular dial up modem.  If none of this works for you can always just take a good quality photo of the document and send that.   My camera shoots in macro so I have done that before in a pinch.   Mary

  • Web Jetadmin 10.1 Fax activity question.

I'm trying to get some stats on our faxing activitiy for 32 printers.  I tried running a report but -- no data.  So I ran a Data Collection on Device Utilizaton...but it's only reporting back what's happend SINCE I did the collection.
I know that the Fax Activity Logs are still available, and I can get them by walking up to the machine and manually printing them out.  What I was wondering is if there is a way to get to  this information through Web Jetadmin.
    Thanks.

I am not certain where this should be posted to get the best answer.
The Web Jetadmin support page only lists contact support or submit a ticket as support options.  You can try one of these two options.
Alternatively, you could try the Business Support Forums.  I was not able to find a support forum specifically for Web Jetadmin, but you could try the LaserJet forums as I am certain most businesses are using it with LaserJet printers.
