FCPX 10.1.1 Projects: Lost & Found (a fix)

This is a general answer and how-to for anyone who's upgraded to FCPX 10.1.1 and suddenly found they are missing projects. Or perhaps, like me, you saw absolutely NO projects in the timeline or anywhere else and just about lost your mind.
This assumes you upgraded to 10.1.1, that you chose to update your events and projects, that this appeared to work correctly, and that you then could not find some or all of your projects afterwards (#heartinthroat).
Look in the area where you see all the Events. Find one line that says Updated Projects. It will have a twisty triangle next to it. In my case, clicking on that did nothing whatsoever. Zero. But..... double-clicking that line did. Surprise! I got a progress bar.
Once the progress bar finished, the area to the right of the Events listing (where you would normally see the clips+stuff) showed a listing of Projects. Huzzah! <sound of general cheering>
Clicking on any project from that listing brought it up in the Timeline. (#heartattackaverted)
Please note, the twisty triangle next to the Updated Projects still doesn't do anything, even though there is now a nice orderly list of projects to the right of that line item. Completely non-intuitive. But at least I don't have to redo my projects, or give awkward explanations to people about why it's not working.
This answer was discovered after several frantic hours of reading through forums, posts, and a lot of Apple-directed hate-speech. I never did see a real answer... I just discovered this fix by double-clicking anything/everything in FCPX like a man possessed, until suddenly something worked. I hope this will help others to save that time and just go on with their work.

Not exactly. What happened was that I ran the 10.1 update, but didn't actually run FCPX immediately because I was doing other things at the time. It wasn't until the release of 10.1.1 that I had a project to finish, and found myself in world of hurt. So I can't say if it was 10.1 or 10.1.1 that caused the grief.
BTW, that is **exactly** how it seems to work with me: I have something urgent to do, I run some update, and get sucked into the time-sucking black hole of Nefarious Update Bugs. This never happens when I have all the time in the world. You would think I'd learn by now: if you have some critical shytte to do, DO NOT run an update just before you start working on it! <:head palm:>
At least I had complete backups... and if I hadn't tumbled to the above fix, I would have definitely needed them.

Entire Projects Lost on A3

I just lost images taken 12/6/10. I have my card set to import directly into Aperture3. I was working on processing some of the photos. I even managed to upload three photos to my Flickr account. As it is, i sold one of the photos, went back into A3 to process it and find the entire shoot gone. It is not anywhere on my disk, Vault, TM, backup disks. I toggled thru using V and see nothing but bright colors.
I will never again eject my card w/o also downloading photos into another folder. I always do this when I have paid shoots because I am so paranoid about losing pictures.
*I did not do anything different downloading these photos and initially they were all there. What on earth could make them just disappear???*
*What I am seeing are the picture files, some still with their stars and cropped LOL...but blank.*
*I did backup Vault....the folders from December are empty. I am at a loss as to how to bring the pics back.*

I wish I had imported the pics somewhere else! But no, my default is to import from card straight to A3. I entered the project name/date/copyright and worked on the photos (thereby the crops and stars). I opened the project a couple of times, worked on some pics. No problems.
Yesterday, the project lost it's images. There is no master file to be found on main disk, backup, clone, TM, vault. Gone. Just Gone. Oh, as I said, not in trash either. The only thing I disconnected was the CFC after importing...but remember, I worked on the photos at least twice afterwards. They were there, no they are not. ****.
I am running a restore from TM for the date I know the photos were viewable. But as far as I could tell, there are no master files for these photos.

Repaired ext. HD. What to do with Lost Found folder?

OSX Mavericks, Macbook Pro 2010 + Western Digital MyBook External Harddrive
I recently deleted an empty partition from my external HD (WD Mybook, 1TB). I then wanted to resize the remaining partition (still containing data) so that it could use the full 1TB capacity. This process failed and, after googling the problem, I verified and repaired the volume (using Disk Utility).
Following verification the harddrive still contains all of my backups and some other folders but also contains a Lost+Found folder with 23061 items in it (each a dir_# folder containing files e.g. keyedobjects.nib. This feels bad!
I googled Lost+Found and understand that these are orphaned files. Feels really bad now.
What would you advise I do now? Is there, perhaps, a way of reuniting the orphaned files with their parents?
As I only verified/repaired the external HD, are these orphaned files all originating in the same HD or have they been amassed from my laptop's HD and perhaps indicate a more serious problem with the laptop itself?
I don't want to lose the files on this drive (this contains an archive of my PhD documentation, numerous projects I've been involved with, a/v documentation).

PSIDE.EXE : project not found error.

Hi All,
Is there any restriction on the length of the project name? When I run PSIDE.EXE to copy ABCD_ML_TICKET_INC000001299217 to PROD from UAT it fails with error: project not found at source. But when I do check with AppDesigner I can see the project.
And it was successfully copied from DEV to SIT to UAT.

Errors reoccuring in backup log - lost+found and quota.user

The files below were logged in my backup log. I sychronize about a 110GB of data between two nslu2's weekly. These same three errors come up during every backup. The backup typically doesn't have any trouble finishing. I did use quotas on some of my users, but have since disable user quota's. Any ideas? I have run scandisk as well as searched for them in the folder and couldn't find them. thanks.

Why is /lost+found hidden from the file managers Thunar and Nautilus?

Hi, i tried using Thunar and Nautilus as root but /lost+found remains hidden (doing ls / reveals it). How is this so?

Why is there a new folder on my Macintosh HD "lost + found"

I have a new folder called "lost + found" on my hard drive "Macintosh HD"
It contains a single 5.3GB file called "iNode8889545"
What's this all about, and my "Users" folder is now invisible...........

You ran fsck, or the system did. There were lost file blocks, they have been collected into the lost+found directory.

Where can I find my lost found folder?

My anti-virus software found a corrupt file in my lost found folder. I can't find this folder to save my life. My spotlight doesn't recognize any of the names I use(lost found and name of corrupt file) I even tried looking at all my files. Please help

There are many forms of ‘Malware’ that can affect a computer system, of which ‘a virus’ is but one type, ‘trojans’ another. 3.5 GB iNode in lost+found folder

I have a very large (3.5 GB) iNode2894708 file in a lost+found folder on my MacBook Air. Is this something that I can delete? Does this have something to do with Lion's internal re-install/recovery thing?

An inode file is a data structure found in many Unix file systems. Sometimes these files are useless, and other times they can be vital to your computer. You should never delete one without inspecting it first. If you really, really need space on your computer, you can move the inode file to a 2nd drive, reboot your computer, and if it doesn't restart, restore the file using a 2nd computer in Target-Disk Mode, but for now you should probably leave it as it is. A lot of times inode files that size in Mac actually are the Lion Installer image used to restore your computer, which can be deleted, but is not recommended to be deleted. To get more information on the inode file, open Terminal then type "file " then drag the inode file into terminal, and you should have a string looking similar to this but with a different path "file /lost+found/inode2894708"
That should give you some information on the file, and based on what type of file it is (such as an archive you can unarchive), you can know if it is safe to delete it.

What's the "Lost+Found" folder?

I just discovered a folder under Macintosh HD called "lost+found". Never seen it before. It contains one empty folder with an 8-digit number as its name.
I'm curious to know
a) What it is ...
b) How'd it get there?
c) And is it safe to delete?

That folder contains files which were in use during a system crash that didn't point to any item on the hard disk; they may contain lost work, and can be safely deleted if they don't.

Have a backup drive (does not need to be very fast, it can even be just a usb2 drive). Copy the library to the backup drive.
A library is a self-contained document, so you can just drag it using the Finder.

FSCK 명령이나 복구유틸리티를 실행하면 발생하는 끊어진 inode 의 정보를 나타냅니다.
추후 복구용도로 사용되죠..
디스크공간문제가 아니라면 가급적삭제안하시고 놔두시는게 좋을겁니다..

Premeire CS6 & photoshop "codec not found" bug fix

I recently started using premiere cs6 & found that if i import layerd photoshop file as a sequence save it & close the application. File does not reopen. i searched sevrel forum but did not found any satifactory solution.
I did dicovered a workaround. check steps below:
1. Import photoshop file as sequence
2. open sequence with all the layers-> Copy all the layers
3. Make a new sequence & choose appropriate preset ie resoluton & codec of project
4. paste all the layers in new sequence.
5. MAKE SURE you delete photoshop sequence that was made when importing .psd

I did a search on my system and found the Photoshop has a fastcore plug-in. Creative Cloud includes a subscription version of CS6 version 13.1.2. I do not know if you installed that or not. The cc un-install may have done something. You may need to use Adobe Cleaner then Install The Perpetual CS6 version of Photoshop CS6 version 13.0.6 Mac or Photoshop CS6 version 13.0.1.3 PC and not the subscription CS6 extended version 13.1.2. Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 If you need to download the CS6 installer Download CS6 products.
You may also be able to recover your cs6 using an old system backup

Whenever I loaded my files onto my ZEN it would show up as a Voice under Recordings.
And the file name would be "MIC and the date file created etc..."
I noticed that these files where all starting with the letters MIC at the front of the filename...
For instance: Michael_Jackson_Thriller.mp3?? or? Michael_W_Smith_Let_it_rain.mp3
and so on and so on... ANY file that started with the letters M I C? would be thrown in as a voice recorded file and the TAG would not operate.
I have the latest Firmware on my MP3 Player.
The fix was just to change the file name so it did not start with MIC... so i went and switched Michael Jackson to M.Jackson and also switched Michael W Smith to M W smith.
The tag showed up appropriately and I have had no problems since.
It would be nice if there was another Firmware update so that MP3's could start with the letters MIC also I was hoping to bring awareness to this situation for other users.

I used Windows Media Player to sync the files.
I used Creative Central to transfer the files.
These two methods produced results where the file starting with MIC turned into a voice recordings.
I also had problems just copying and pasting the files (using windows explorer).
I have not had any problems with any other file. I normally use MP3Tag to tag my files.
However i even tried using Windows Media to tag the file and I even tried using Creative Central to tag the files.
I tried as many work arounds as possible. But once i renamed the file it worked.

I downloaded iOS 5 and then I found my Apps were missing. So then I looked it up on the web then found the fix. The only problem is that half the apps I downloaded are gone. One of my favorite, Angry Birds, which I bought is also gone.

I need help! I downloaded iOS 5 on my iPod 3rd generation after backing EVERYTHIGN up 4 times and I think I might have synced it. But just forget that I synced anything. So then when I tried to Restore Back-up it DID NOT work. This was my first time using iTunes, and I ALWAYS download throught the APP store. So then I found the fix online. I actually found 3 different ways:
A). Go to the App store and then go to 'UPDATES' then go to Purchased and download everything you need.
- This didn't work for halfmy apps.
B). Go to the iTunes store, go to File > Sync iPod then wait a LOOOOOOOOONG time.
- This also did not work, and not just in the case of my missing apps, all my apps were just sitting there. Nothing happened. I deemed this as USELESS.
C). I have a premonition that this option should work, but I can't find it. I have to go to the SUMMARY tab under device settings then click restore. The onlyproblem is, I CAN'T FIND IT! It probably should work.
BOTTOM LINE: Some of my favorite Apps such as Angy Birds and Madden NFL '11 are now gone. I have no idea what happened. And my backed-up iPod on iTunes only has like 14 apps out of 100sof Apps.
PLEASE HELP - SLL ANSWERS GET 5 POINTS

Have you looked on all the pages of your iPod? Have you looked in all your folders? Have you you tried finding the apps using the iPod's search page.
